Zimbabwe is now the third poorest
country in the world according to the International Monetary Fund World Economic
Outlook Database.
It was
a lot easier and faster to fall to third poorest country in the world; it took
Zanu PF three decades to do that. It is going to be a lot tougher and take
longer, five decades at the very least, to climb up again.
Mugabe’s
indigenisation policies will drag the nation down and make it even harder to
climb up.
The
best MDC will have achieved if they get into power is that they slowed down the
implementation of Mugabe’s policies; they really do not have the political
vision to reserve the many things Mugabe has done to get the nation into this
mess! It is inconceivable that the national economy will start the difficult
climb up without getting full production in the agricultural sector first, for
example. By passing the faulty Copac constitution, MDC have aided Mugabe and
his cronies to claim ownership of the farms they looted although they have
failed to put the land to productive use and thus holding the nation to ransom.

@ Kaffirboy
Millions of Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty, that is a fact. You left Zimbabwe to escape the daily hardships of no water, no electricity, collapse education and health services, etc. You are always ready to sing the praises of the failed Zanu PF political systems, dismiss everything the West has ever done and yet you and your fellow Zanu PF thugs are the ones spending billions of dollars buying western goods from the car down to the underwear you are wearing. You want all these things for yourself but will not let others have even the bear necessities of life such as medicines. What a hypocrite!
@ Matebele
The report was not my report but IMF's report. In any case, I am not interested in your nit picking. This is not a beauty contest. Whether Zimbabwe has 90 or 93% unemployment level, for example, is not the issue here. What matters here is that is a totally unacceptable figure!
You are back in Zimbabwe so what! Do you want me to give you a medal for that? The point here is 3 or 4 million Zimbabweans have had to leave the country for economic or political reasons or both. And that too is unacceptable. Indeed the level of poverty in Zimbabwe will be a lot worse if it was not for these Zimbabweans in the diaspora who are sending back home millions of dollars every month!
@ Matebele
I did not say you are poor, I do not think you are. You are one of the Zanu PF cronies who have amassed wealth and dragged the nation into the gutter. Your greed affects me as it affects millions of the other Zimbabweans now living in abject poverty. And as for the "and so?"; well you and your fellower looters will not be allowed to continue looting and to keep your loot.
You bamboozled Tsvangirai and his MDC half wit into accepting the Copac constitution giving you ownership of all the prime farms. Some of you have three or more farms which you are now hoarding whilst the nation starves. The Copac rubbish is going to be thrown out and the farms you looted taken away from you.
Let me tell you this too, if you have any blood of 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans murdered by the regime; you will hang for it! In short then, there will be justice and the nation will be allowed to take its rightful position in the community of nations comisurate with the country's rich wealth of material and human resourses!
@ Yepec
Yepec I can see you still stuck in the rut! The new constitution was supposed to be a "demo-cratic constitution", but because even the greatest supporters of this Copac constitution had to acknowledge that it is NOT a democratic constitution. And hence this nonsense of "incre-mental gain" and that Copac is better than the LHC!
Tsvangirai is pushing for the reforms to be implemented because Copac is weak; the so called incremental gains are not going to deliver free and fair elections. Tsvangirai thought Copac was strong and would not listen. It is only now when many Zimbabweans and the West are telling him in his face that he is "toothless" as CNN reporter told him a few weeks ago and the West is lifting sanctions against Zanu PF that has forced him to realize the reforms are important.
Tsvangirai is not following any strategic plan; this just another example of Tsvangirai and MDC blunder. I thought you had crawling under the wood, ashamed you have been blindly supporting an incomplete and indecisive leader. I can see you are still blubbering about incremental gains and strategy; you are worse than I thought! Neither reason nor reality can get through to you Yepec, you are brain dead!
@ Chimbwido
You are spot on there; Tsvangirai should have had the reforms implemented a lot time ago. Everyone has pushed him to implement the reforms but as usual, he ignored them. Now that the West is abandoning him as a hopeless leader devoid of common sense and will never achieve anything - which, sadly, is only too true - has spurred the dinosaur into action. But of course it is all too little too late.
Chimbwido you can rightly see Tsvangirai as an empty egg shell. How is it that you fail to see Mugabe, the corrupt and murderous tyrant, for the rotten egg he is? Either you have a blind-spot covering 99% of your sphere of vision or see it all but refuse to acknowledge it! Well you are in luck bud; there are people like me who take the greatest pleasure in throwing the rotten eggs right into your face!
An empty egg is nothing compared to a rotten egg! Bull’s eye!
@ Chimbwido
The country would not be in this economic mess if it was not for the gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and all-out looting spree by that fruit-cake and his cronies. Ordinary Zim-babweans know this and have done for years but they could not get the fruit-cake out of State House because Zimbabwe is NOT a democracy and the people have been denied a meaningful vote.
Over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans have been murdered to establish and retain this Zanu PF dictatorship.
It is to be expected that the fruit-cake would want to blame everyone else for the country's mess except himself and his corrupt and oppressive regime. Blame the West! Blame the rains that failed to fall! But blaming me for being "an accomplice to the rot that is going on in the country" only goes to show just how desperate the regime is.
Chimbwido, I have told you before and will tell you yet again: the fruit-cake and Zanu PF are finished! Yes he bamboozled Tsvangirai and his MDC half-wits into accepting this stupid political arrangement but people will soon see it all for what it is - a sell-out.
There will be no free and fair elections. After the elections the looting will continue. It is then the people will see this is a sell-out and demand REAL change this time and they will get it. This nightmare is simply unsustainable, it never was!
The fruit-cake in State House is finished and you will hang for the blood of innocent Zimba-bweans on your hands!
