On the national front he has blatantly rigged elections denying the people a meaningful vote. But to hear him talk one would think he is the greatest champion of free, fair and credible elections. After breaking the rules to get what you want, you revert to the rules and even dictate that no rules were ever broken; this is exactly what President Mugabe is doing.
“Va(Phelekezela) Mphoko hatichavada. Hazviitwe izvozvo! Vamwe, tumwe twacho hanzi VaMugabe hatichavada. Ko zvino zvausisavade unoti zviitwe sei iwe pachezvako vamwe vazhinji muparty vachiti tinovada? Hanzi ngavanzwe zvandiri kutaura; ngavanzwe zvatiri kutaura. (We do not want VP Mphoko. What is that! Some even said they did not want Mugabe. So what do you think should be done since the majority still want him? They demand that we listen to them.)” Said President Mugabe, addressing the ongoing Zanu PF conference.
He was answering the group of war veterans led by former Minister Chris Mutsvangwa who have earlier this year demanded that VP Mphoko and other leaders in the G40 faction must be removed from office. In July, the war veterans followed this up and demanded that President Mugabe himself must go because of his “dictatorial tendencies”!
“Hukuru muparty hunouyaka nekusarudzwa. Hahuuye nekuti aiwa tinoda kupinda uko, tisunde uyo tipindewo. Ko ndopfungwa dzevanhu here idzodzo? Ndopfungwa dzinenge dziine vanhu here? (Leadership positions in the party are earned by elections. No one dictates that they want this post or someone should be replaced. Is that what the people think?),” President Mugabe continued.
Douglas Mahiya, the spokesperson of the war veterans group demanding that Mugabe must go was telling a conference is Harare that he and his fellow war veterans are not going to apologise to the nation for harassing, beating, raping and even murdering innocent Zimbabweans to force the people to vote for Zanu PF.
“We
cannot give a public apology for that, if we do, the apology will not be a genuine
apology but would just be done to let it pass,” said Mahiya, at a Crisis In
Zimbabwe Coalition conference.
The
war veterans do not deny that their role in riding roughshod over the people’s
freedoms and basic human rights to impose the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.
Even now, with the benefit of hindsight of what the regime has done to the
nation, Mahiya still insists that the harassment and murders were “incidental
occurrence in their pursuit to defend the country from imperialists who were
pursuing an agenda to reverse the gains of the liberation struggle”.

The was a double irony here in that whilst Mugabe was labouring the point of free and fair elections as the legitimate route to high office he was still boasting of his own no-regime-change mantra.
"Externally, nyika dzokunze, countries that have been hostile to us and all this time expected that Zanu-PF Government shall listen to them and that there shall be the regime change, have failed to achieve that," he said.
"There has not been regime change and there shall not be a regime change. They stand defeated on that one. We have had I think quite some success in that area."
All his no-regime-change successes were on the back of a ruthless campaign denying those seeking democratic change their right to free and fair elections and even the right to life!
After decades of propping up the tyrant it is not surprising that flushing him out of office now is proving to be a great challenge for the nation; even his fellow Zanu PF thugs are finding it a challenge to force him out of office.
So, with the rest of the Zimbabwe populous the tyrant is blatantly rigging the elections to stay in power. And with his fellow Zanu PF thugs, he is the most democratic person the world has ever seen!
The Zanu-PF Women’s and Youth leagues have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Robert Mugabe (92), with the latter adding that he should be declared Life President.
These are just words of brainwashed party officials who want to ingratiate themselves to the tyrant and perpetuate the dictatorship for selfish gain. THe culture of selfishness is now engrained in Zanu PF there is no shame in selling the nation and povo for whatever crumbs the tyrant throws at you!
The nation is dying for political reform and good governance and some idiots are calling for the dictatorship to be even more deeply entrenched!
“The tragedy of all this is that it is not going to be the intellectuals or the academics, or the business leaders, or the middle class who will have fought for all these years in the pursuit of freedom and democracy. It will have been the poor and disadvantaged who have campaigned fearlessly, worked without reward and taken everything that this terror regime has thrown at them who will have done this. I am so proud to be one of them and to have had the privilege to fight in the trenches with them in the past 16 years,” wrote Eddie Cross.
MP Cross, you will never be part of the povo who have risked life and limp to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. You are one of the corrupt and incompetent MDC opposition team that has betrayed povo by failing to get even one democratic reform implemented when their had the golden opportunity to do so. It is a great shame that you never apologised and now insult our intelligence by pretending you are a hero!
