2 000 attend Mujuru Rainbow coalition launch - 1 too many to be insane Wilbert Mukori

“The train has arrived!” was the buzz phrase at the launched Mai Mujuru’s Rainbow Coalition in Bulawayo.

2 000 or so people attended the launch. 2 000 or so people too many, I would say. This is a train that is starting from the hell-on-earth ruins created by this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship (of which Mai Mujuru was one of its key players) and whose destination, I can tell you, is many nautical miles deeper into this hell.

Mai Mujuru is promising “to rebuild Zimbabwe”. She would say that just as she and Mugabe promised “Gutsa ruzhinji!” (Mass prosperity!) in the 1980s but only to deliver the mass poverty we see today. She is corrupt and incompetent, captain disaster personified, and with such a leader in charge, it is foolish to expect anything else other than disastrous ruin!

Zimbabweans are not serious, not yet anywhere, about finding a way out of this hell-hole President Mugabe and his corrupt and murderous thugs have landed the nation in. How can they say they are serious when they keep following the same corrupt and murderous thugs who landed them in the mess in the first place?

Mai Mujuru is a corrupt and incompetent simpleton who played her part in building the de facto one party dictatorship. She enjoyed the benefits of the tyranny and rigged elections - that is what kept her in power for 34 years, regardless of her having accomplished nothing of value to the nation - and she relished her lion's share of the wholesale looting that has been the hallmark of this Zanu PF regime.

Only fools would believe that Mai Mujuru could nothing to stop the looting and the serious human rights violation by Zanu PF all the 34 years she was at the heart of the regime. She says she did not see any of these things at the time!

"A puppy does not open its eyes the day it is born," she has said repeatedly. There is no breed of dog in the whole world, including Dotito where she comes from, whose puppies take 34 days much less 34 years to open their eyes. If a puppy cannot see after 34 days, it is blind! If Mai Mujuru did not see the gross mismanagement, rampant corruption, vote rigging, murder of over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans for political gain, etc., etc. in all the 34 years she was in government – she saw the vote rigging but failed to understand what was going on because she is a simpleton - ; it is because she is a corrupt and incompetent simpleton.

Zimbabwe is in a political and economic mess because of the nearly four decades of misrule by President Mugabe. It will take a competent and visionary leader to drag the nation out of this hell-hole. If you go hunting you take a good dog that can sniff and run; a Dotito dog that is as blind as mole is of no use whatsoever!

Mai Mujuru is fighting to get back into power not "rebuild Zimbabwe"; why did she spend 34 years destroying it, if she really cared! She is only saying that to win the vote of the politically naïve and gullible. If she was ever to get back into power her first priority is to rebuild the Zanu PF dictatorship in all but name and in her own image. Second, take up her looting from where she left off in 2014 when she was unceremoniously “baby dumped” out of Zanu PF, as Grace Mugabe said boastfully.

People like Mai Mujuru, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, and, of course, the murderous tyrant Robert Mugabe himself have all been in power and have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt and incompetent and, in the case of Zanu PF leaders (present and those booted out years ago or those licking their fresh wounds in Zimbabwe or far-away lands) are vote rigging murderous tyrants. Why any Zimbabwean would still follow any of these women and men, beggars belief!

In the long run, people get the government they deserve. After 37 years, Zimbabweans certainly deserve this corrupt, vote rigging and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of corrupt and incompetent opposition parties – all 75 of them, they keep splitting and merging and splitting again.

Some political analysts have made a career of arguing the opposition parties to merge, “only a united opposition can dislodge Zanu PF,” they have insisted. The analysts are nothing but “zvimbwa mupengo zvekuDotito” (Dodito mad dogs) howling at the full moon – Dotito dogs howl the longest, given they take 34 years just to open their puppy eyes!. Even the howling mad-dogs do not dispute that there are no quality leaders in the existing opposition parties, so even if all 75 were to merge into one “big tent” opposition party there will be no quality leaders. Tsvangirai’s MDC was one super organism before it starting splitting up but they accomplished nothing even in those early years because there was no quality leaders. Without quality, quantity counts for nothing!

The howling mad-dogs also admit that with no reforms Zanu PF will rig the vote. In 2008 Zanu PF ordered a recount of the March vote and after six weeks ZEC whittled Tsvangirai’s 73% to 47%, just enough to force a run-off. What the howling Dotito mad-dogs have all pointedly refused to address is, even if the united opposition got 73% of the vote next year – a big ask, given Zanu PF’s ability to buy, conjure, coerce votes – what is there to stop the regime whittling the 73% to 47% again.

Indeed, there is evidence that Zanu PF has upgraded its vote rigging tactics to ensure the regime has a landslide victory without ever going through another six week recount and run-off. The regime has delayed the registration of the voters using the new BVR system. There is no way ZEC is going to produce a verified voters’ roll before voting day. With no verified voters’ roll the sky is the limit to what vote rigging shenanigans Zanu PF can employ to ensure a landslide victory.

Of course, it is insane for anyone to even bother taking part in an election contest without something as basic and fundamental to an election as an authentic list of who is eligible to vote and then confirm that only those entitled to vote voted. Morgan Tsvangirai and his opposition friends contest 2013 elections with no verified voters’ roll; the reader can make their own inference. There is no doubt the opposition is going to contest next year’s elections with no verified voters’ roll and the Dotito mad-dogs are cheering them along with their usual call for the opposition to unite!

Zimbabwe is not in this political and economic mess by accident; we are where we are as a result of 37 years of hard work blundering from pillar to post, making the same mistakes over and over ad nauseam. Of course, it is insane and madness is very hard work.

Where many other nations have seen the folly of contesting flawed elections and have implemented the democratic reforms, for example, we, in Zimbabwe continue to plough the same furrow.

No progress is ever made from ploughing the same furrow; the insane do not see that. The certified insane cannot self-diagnose their illness; if they do, then as of that instant, they are cured. The instance the 2 000 or so people realise the folly of entrusting the nation’s destiny in the hands of someone like Mai Mujuru, with a proven track record as a corrupt and incompetent leader, is the Damascene moment this nation will be cured of the insanity that has landed us in this hell-on-earth. One hopes that the moment will not be too long coming because there is a real danger of this nation sliding into the abyss of economic meltdown and political chaos born out of the decades of misrule and political madness!

"We have officially appended our signatures on this document because we share a lot of similarities and we are committed to the development of the nation," said Mai Mujuru.

Madam you were at the very heart of the Zanu PF government for 34 of its 37 years in power and the regime could not even hold on to what Smith left much less develop. The national economic is in total ruins, unemployment has soared to 90%, there is no basic necessities of life such as clean running water, etc. Corruption has been rampant and you, madam, had your snout in the feeding trough most of the time.

You are itching to get back into power so you and your friends can continue the looting; you will never admit that, of course, but that is the truth!

“The signing ceremony was briefly disturbed as rowdy youths began to sing and dance in the rain. The directors of ceremony had a tough time controlling the unruly crowd that was not paying much attention to the proceedings as they concentrated on food stalls and small talk among themselves,” reported Bulawayo 24.

This is pleasing to hear particularly since this is happening close on the heels of Grace Mugabe being booed; this is a healthy sign of the awakening. The people of Zimbabwe have been taken for fools these last 37 years by corrupt and utterly useless political leaders, they are slowly wake up to the need for meaningful political change!

Zimbabwe needs to implement the democratic reforms and set the rules of how public affairs must be conducted and not just remove one dictator or party but only to replace him with another dictator and/or party. We need to dismantle the corrupt and tyrannical autocracy Mugabe created and imposed on the nation with a healthy and functional democratic system of government.

By agreeing to contest next year’s elections with not even one democratic reform implemented you and your People’s Rainbow Coalition friends are showing that you really have no clue what the GNU was about. You were all members of the National Election Reform Agenda (NERA) but only to pay lip service to calls for reforms without understand what these reforms were much less why they were necessary. The nation is done with corrupt and incompetent leaders like you, Mai Mujuru; you will never be elected back into power!

The 2 000 or so people who turned up at your coalition launch came for the food and small talk among themselves; they had better things to do than listen to your nonsense. You “will develop the nation”! Why did you spend the last 34 years destroying it!!!

Zanu PF provinces are coming up with lists of Mnangagwa supporters, they want purged from the party. Here we go! It was Mugabe himself who has kept Mnangagwa in his cabinet for 37 years and even appointed him VP. Now it is a “very crime” to have ever associated with Mnangagwa. Considering how close Mugabe and Mnangagwa have been until now, they were partners in the Gukurahundi massacre, the vote rigging, etc. then Mugabe is the one who must be booted out first for associating with Mnangagwa.

It is a kangaroo court that decide who is Mnangagwa’s supporter made up of individuals with scores to settle. If the G40 faction had lost and the shoe was in the other foot, some of these thugs drawing up the list would themselves be the ones facing the lynch mob! This is Zanu PF at its chaotic best!

Mugabe is booting out a VP, half his cabinet and causing a serious upheaval in his party, in government and the nation; this is the second time he is doing this in three years! This is happening at a time when the nation is in a serious economic and political mess – brought on by the decades of his corrupt and tyrannical rule, it must be said – and tittering on the edge of total national collapse.

And the situation has been made a lot worse by the fact there is no alternative political party to take over from the imploding Zanu PF. Tsvangirai and his MDC friends have themselves already proven that they are breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent. The country’s stifling political system has made it near impossible for the nation to scout for competent and visionary national leaders.

If there was ever a time for the nation to call "time-out!" then it is now. There is really no point in going through next year's elections, when the choice before the electorate either the vote rigging imploding Zanu PF dictatorship or the corrupt and incompetent MDC promising to win rigged election! Neither Zanu PF nor MDC are ever going to get us out of the mess we are in. So the choice, if rigged elections are considered a choice, is more like do you want your hand or leg cut-off!

Zimbabweans are today the poorest in Africa and since Africa has the poorest people in the world, we are the poorest people on earth. If we do not do something to sort out our poor governance problems we will remain the poorest nation on earth for generations!

Zimbabwe, just like Africa herself, is well endowed with natural resources and has potential to be one of the richest nations in the world. Our problem is poor governance. It is the 37 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption that has destroyed Zimbabwe’s once promising economy. Before independence the country prided itself in producing enough to feed all its people and had plenty left over to be the bread basket of the region. Today the nation is dependent on imported food aid – we are so impoverished we cannot even pay for it. Zimbabwe is, for all intend and purposes, the Garden of Eden and we are starving in the Garden of Eden. There is the damning testimonial to Mugabe and his regime’s breath-taking incompetence.

We need to implement the democratic reforms, clean up our failed political system, and hold fresh elections with a new system that allows debate and democratic competition – the only sure way to get rid of the deadwood now crowding and hogging the political stage!

90% of Zimbabweans are literate, we are told, the highest literacy rate in Africa. If anyone bothered to do the head count we probably have the highest per capita number of university graduate, PhDs, Professors, etc. If you throw a stone at random at a crowd of Zimbabweans selected at random, the chances are you will hit someone with one University Degree or higher - State President has seven degrees and his wife is PhD graduate (I refuse to be drawn into commending on how many first degrees she has and from what institution).

The real irony is Zimbabweans are the poorest people in Africa. What good is all our literacy and the wall paper degree and diplomas in our offices, for the few with jobs, or homes?

Brain Ralfotoupos is one of the other many UZ lecturers and Professors who talk utter nonsense. Of course, it is nonsense to accept that Zanu PF has a complex vote rigging system one minute and then the next minute claim a united opposition can defeat the regime. With such dimwitted lecturers and Professors, it is no surprise that the country has been chaining out dimwitted University Graduates!

We must stop contesting flawed elections, with or without a united opposition. We must stop messing around and implement the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections as SADC leaders have already advised. All those smart Aleck lecturers telling us we do not need reforms are wasting our time and space!

Zanu PF is imploding the party is only interested in who is going to succeed Mugabe and could not care less about the governance of the country. This is to be expected, given the party has been rigging elections and can therefore say with confidence that the people want is irrelevant. The only way we are ever going to force Zanu PF out of this political laissez faire complacency and arrogance is by making sure next elections are free, fair and credible.

We must demand the implementation of the reforms BEFORE the elections. With no reforms, Zanu PF will win next year’s elections; forget this MDC nonsense that the party has Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies. They have been banking on mobilizing people to register, for example, and Zanu has foiled that strategy by delaying the voter registration exercise so now ZEC has four months to register 7 million – an impossible feat!

Yes, Derek Matyszak, and everyone else who can must tell Tsvangirai and the rest of opposition banded mongooses again and again and never tire that with no reforms next elections will NOT be free and fair. God knows how many times they have been warned in the past. Tsvangirai was warned of the serious consequences of not implementing the democratic reforms and then of participating in the 2013 elections with no reforms in place.

“If you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done!” SADC leaders had warned Tsvangirai and his MDC gang of banded mongooses, according to Dr Ibbo Mandaza who was at the regional summit in June 2013.

Tsvangirai has eyes to see and ears to hear but, alas, he and his banded mongooses lack the intellect to comprehend what they see and hear. Instead of their heads having a healthy and functioning brain cells there is useless fatty tissue. A life-time of mental inactivity has resulted in their brains atrophying!

Mugabe must have laughed until tears streamed down his face and still could not stop laughing when at the end of the five years of the GNU not even one reform had been implemented. For five years the banded mongooses had even boasted of their achievements during the GNU.

Who can ever forget the synchronised tail-wagging and drumming of the chest, silver back style, by MDC leaders boasting about how the new 2013 constitution was going to deliver and guarantee all our freedoms and human rights including free and fair elections. The new constitution “was the best constitution in the world, I was a constitutional professor,” Welshman Ncube boasted. “It is an MDC child!” piped in Tsvangirai, not to be outdone by his fellow mongoose.

It was only when the nation had voted to approve the new constitution that Mugabe allowed MP Paul Mangwana, the Zanu PF co-chair on the committee that drafted the new constitution, tell the world that it was the tyrant who “dictated the document”. And the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the new constitution failed to deliver free and fair elections and human rights violations are as bad if not worse than under the Lancaster House constitution. No wonder Mugabe laughed himself silly at the shocked look in the banded mongoose’ faces when tyrant blatantly rigged the July 2013 elections.

This time Mugabe has the banded mongooses convinced they can win rigged elections. It is pleasing to note that not many Zimbabweans have fallen for that nonsense as can be seen from the very low turn up at opposition rallies.

Only 2 000 (out of the expected 50 000) people turned up at launch of Joice Mujuru’s People Rainbow Coalition and they were more interested in the food and small talk among themselves than to what the former Zanu PF VP had to say.

The single message that must be send out loud and clear is that with no reform the next elections will not be free and fair and therefore a waste of time and resources. No one, absolutely no one, should recognise the result of such sham elections! And that is one message Mugabe must hear or will be forced to hear when his landslide victory this time is declared null and void!
