"Zanu PF is natural home for dinosaurs," admits ED apologist - Croco is a dinosaur N Garikai

Last week Professor Jonathan Moyo long a long piece from his hiding in exile admitting that no Zanu PF leader was “legitimate” as the party has been rigging elections. This week it was the turn of another President Mnangagwa apologist and bootlicker.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa needs to win convincingly in order for him to succeed in undoing many years of Robert Mugabe’s rot that was underpinned by his patronage system, corruption and clansman rule,” he wrote in Nehanda Radio.

“The results that came out of the ZANUPF primary elections show a half-hearted attempt by the ruling party to clean up the Mugabe mess and fix its resultant tragic outcomes.

“The ZANUPF voters led out some political dinosaurs from of the feeding hall but unfortunately, some thoroughly corrupt and toxic elements were left to continue on the feeding trough and were joined by some equally dodgy characters.

“ZANUPF is seen as a natural home by the criminal, corrupt and fraudulent elements amongst us, the very people who contributed in a spirited effort that got us where we are today, a sad 38 years of nothing but economic and emotional ruin.”

“Zanu PF a natural home for criminal, corrupt and fraudulent elements!” Who would ever have guessed that Hopewell Chinono, of all people would ever admit that!

You are right that the Zanu PF voters did lead “out some political dinosaurs from the feeding hall”, spot on that “some thoroughly corrupt and toxic elements were left behind” and, if the truth be told and it must, President Mnangagwa, VP Chiwenga and many others in the junta are the many toxic elements left behind.
All this talk by the junta that last November’s coup cleansed Zanu PF of all the corrupt, vote-rigging and murderous thugs is pure nonsense.

The core of the Zanu PF dictatorship was the Joint Operation Command, the junta that planned and carried out all the looting, vote-rigging and political mischief that have become the hallmark of this regime. The junta was led by Mugabe and President Mnangagwa was his number two. The junta has emerged out of the coup wielding even more political power that before and it is therefore nonsensical to argue the dictatorship is died.

One of the many things the Mnangagwa Zanu PF has held on to resolutely is the party’s carte blanche powers to rig elections. ED has stubbornly refuse to implement even one democratic reform. Zanu PF is rigging these elections.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa needs to win (the elections) convincingly,” argue Chinono. Well he is RIGGING the elections convincingly instead. The regime will not produce a verified voters’ roll, Zanu PF is spending millions buying Chiefs, party candidate vehicles, etc. whilst opposition are stone broke, there is no free public media, etc.

“Those personally close to him have told me that he wants to clean the slate but that he is facing resistance from a rotten and yet hard-core entrenched civil service,” continued Chinono.

“They simply do not want change and they are doing all possible to retain the broken system that prevailed under Robert Mugabe.

“A system that saw nothing wrong with cabinet ministers being given four cars whilst local hospitals had NO ambulances at their disposal. Rural folk are still being transported to hospital in donkey drawn scotch carts.”

President Mnangagwa will never ever fix the rot and decay of 38 years of Zanu PF misrule because he and the junta ARE the dinosaurs who caused the rot and decay. It is no secret that President Mnangagwa, VP Chiwenga and many of those around him are filthy rich, wealth amassed from their corrupt activities.

If you are corrupt and those around you know you are corrupt, it is naïve to think you can ever stamp out corruption. By being corrupt yourself, you let out the gene out of the bottle, only someone who is not corrupt can put it back!

Yes, Zimbabwe needs to completely drain the political swamp created by the de facto one-party dictatorship Zanu PF fostered on the nation that has made it impossible for quality leaders to emerge from both sides of the political divide. We need to implement all the democratic reforms and open up the channels to allow free flow of information and ideas, open debate and democratic competition.

Zimbabwe political has been starved of meaningful debate and free completion and bombarded by misinformation and propaganda; it is little wonder the country has produced armies of corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless politicians. If you fish in a swamp full of polluted and foul-smelling water, do not expect to catch quality fish!

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and the best outcome for the country is to have the flawed elections declared null and void. This will clear the slate and allow the appointment of an administration that will implement the reforms and drain the swamp Zanu PF created.

The sheer hypocrisy of apologists like Chinono is shocking. Whilst he now admits Zanu PF is full of corrupt dinosaurs, he has only noticed this now but failed to do so for the last 37 years, but true to form, he continues to heap praise on the likes of President Mnangagwa. If anyone could be considered an integral part of the corruption, vote-rigging and murderous Zanu PF regime, it is Emmerson Mnangagwa.

How then, did Chinono manage to separate Mnangagwa form the rot and decay of the last 37 years so he, of all the Zanu PF thugs, emerge squeaky clean beggars belief. Chinono must be a brain surgeon and a miracle worker all rolled into one for he removed the cancerous tumour but even changed the DNA of cancer to healthy super genius brain cells. All nonsense, of course.

President Mnangagwa is a corrupt and ruthless thug and if there was ever any doubt that he has not changed, he has already removed that. He promised to hold free and fair elections and, the thug he is, has not only rebuffed all calls to implement meaningful democratic reforms but, worse still, he has been implementing the Zanu PF vote rigging schemes the party had planned before Mugabe was booted out.

Chinono can pretend that Mnangagwa is not a dinosaur the fact of the matter is he is. ED's political nick name is crocodile, the living relic of the dinosaurs!

@ Nkomah Isaac

"What guarantee is there that this time SADC and AU will stand by the people of Zimbabwe rather than leaders. What guarantee is there that the junta will give up power to a democratically elected President of Zimbabwe. When the national broadcasters and media cannot distinguish between government and party worthy of news," you say.

"I foresee a situation where by opposition wins the election with a great margin, too great to rig, then the ruling party leaders refuse to accept the results. I foresee a situation where by the results of the general elections are withheld until the opposition declares itself a winner.

"I foresee an opposition march to the State House is blocked by some sectors of the military which will mark the beginning of a splinter military group that will form a Zimbabweanised ISIS."

Whilst many of the things you say are true and valid you have clearly lost your way as regards the opposition winning these elections. What happened in March 2008 is not going to happen ever again, Zanu PF learnt its lesson and has rejigged its vote rigging schemes to ensure a clear landslide victory in the first round. Zanu PF did not use all its vote rigging tricks much less violence, its most tried and reliable vote rigging tool, in the run up to the March 2008 vote. The party had to pull all the stops to force ZEC to recount and whittle down Tsvangirai's 73% vote to 47%, to force the run-off. In the run-off the party did not want to take any chances and went straight into overdrive with the violence!

In the 2013 elections Zanu PF saw to it that it had well-funded vote rigging schemes in place and the violence was applied ahead of time - to remind the voters not to forget what happened in 2008. If the party had not been certain its other vote rigging schemes would work then it would have turned up the violence, pump up the volume. Zanu PF has used the same strategy this year and it is set to win these elections with another landslide!

SADC leaders, even if some of us Zimbabwe could not figure it out for ourselves, advised that Zimbabwe should not go into elections without first implementing the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. "If you go into next month's elections, you will lose; the elections are done!" SADC leaders had warned Tsvangirai and his MDC friends.

With no reforms, Zanu PF has total control of each and every aspect of the whole election process and the party is spoilt for choice as to what vote rigging schemes to use. People talk of someone using a loaded dice, well Zanu PF have a dice with six on all six sides! It is impossible for them to lose.

MDC leaders were very foolish to ignore SADC's advice in 2013 and are doing so again now!

You are going into these elections convinced you will win rigged elections "with a great margin"? You must accept the results and not complain that Zanu PF rigged the elections when your strategies to stop the vote-rigging has failed.

"I foresee a situation where by opposition wins the election with a great margin, too great to rig," you say. After 38 years of rigged elections it has not yet dawned on you the sheer futility of trying to win rigged elections. Elections should be free, fair and credible and if they are not, you stop and have that put right and not foolish plough on!

Of course, it is midsummer madness that anyone should still want to contest flawed election, after 38 years of rigged election, hoping against that this time Zanu PF will rig the vote but lose the election. If that is not proof of insanity, I do not know what is!

We should not be taking part in these elections without first implementing the reforms!
