Zanu PF to freeze wages and prices - foolish, prices soared 350% vs 50%. You failed, step down! P Guramatunhu

“During a post cabinet briefing held on Tuesday, Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa said government does not dispute the need to give a cost-of-living adjustment to workers but it was faced with various competing national demands which include payment of annual bonuses that will take a significant portion of resources,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“In addition, said Mutsvangwa, government is putting measures to "contain loss of the workers purchasing power and request worker representatives to provide three nominees to attend a Tripartite Negotiating Forum Technical Committee workshop."

"The workshop is aimed at coming up with a Social Contract that is aimed at bringing the parties to a common position.

"This may result in the freeze of incomes and prices," said Minister Mutsvangwa.

What good will it be to the worker whose salary has increased by a misery 50% in the last 12 month given that prices have surged upward by a staggering 350% in the same period. Freezing the wage and prices will be tantamount to the worker accepting a 300% wage cut! Worse still, most of the workers were being paid far below the US$650 poverty datum line to start with.

Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections and was cocksure the party would deliver economic recovery too. Well the regime must now admit that it has failed to revive the economy and, more significantly, the party must now step down.

By blatantly rigging last year’s elections Mnangagwa confirmed that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state ruling by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs. No one like to do business in a pariah state - have all should know this by now after all Zimbabwe’s economic nose dive has lasted these last 20 years after Mugabe confirm Zimbabwe was a pariah state.

The only sure way to end Zimbabwe’s pariah state is for Zanu PF to step down so the nation can appoint an interim administration whose primary task would be to implement the democratic reforms leading to the holding of free, fair and credible elections. Zimbabwe needs a fresh start!

Both Zanu PF and MDC leaders cannot be appointed in the interim administration because they were the key players in the 2008 to 2013 GNU which failed to implement even one meaningful democratic reform. Not one!

The people of Zimbabwe have suffered and many have died since Zimbabwe gained her independence in 1980 all because the country failed to establish a healthy and functional political system. The nation’s top priority right now is to end the tragic human suffering and lose of lives.

The country has another golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms designed to dismantle the dysfunction de facto one-party dictatorship and replace it with a democratic system of government. It would be unforgivable to fail the nation once again all because we sort to appease the corrupt and tyrannical ruling elite!

Zanu PF must step down, the party rigged last year’s elections and is, per se, illegitimate. That is not negotiable!

The root cause of Zimbabwe's economic meltdown is the 40 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. Zanu PF rigged last year's elections and thus confirmed that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state. We must now deal with this problem of pariah state once and once for all!

Zanu Pf must step down so the nation can finally implement the democratic reforms design to end the curse of rigged elections. Nothing of any substance can ever be accomplished until we deal with this curse!

Government has money to buy new cars for minister, to bankroll utterly pointless anti-sanctions demos, POLAD and MPs jaunts, to say nothing of the millions being looted from Marange and other places but has no money to pay doctors, teachers and other civil servants a living wage!

Zanu PF has failed to revive the economy because the party has failed to end corruption, mismanagement and to assure investors the country is no longer a pariah state! The party must step down and stop holding the nation to ransom!

Zanu PF has failed to deliver economic prosperity, after 39 years of this misrule and with the nation dragged this deep into this hell-on-earth there is no thinking Zimbabwean who does not know that Zanu PF is behind their suffering and deaths. They also know that the nation is stuck in this hell-hole because Zanu PF rigs elections to stay in power.

Yes the solution to the country's nightmare is for Zanu PF to step down so the nation can implement the reforms, end the curse of rigged elections and pariah state. The devil is in the detail - how are we going to force Zanu PF to step down.

The country had its best opportunity ever to get the reforms implemented during the 2008 to 2013 GNU; Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends sold-out and the opportunity was wasted.

By blatantly rigging last year's elections; Zanu PF inadvertently presented the nation with an opportunity to pressure the regime to step down as most election observers condemned the elections. The worsening economic situations has help pile-on the pressure on the regime to accept change. All this effect has been undermined by none other than the country's opposition politicians; by participating in the flawed and illegal elections they have given Zanu PF so measure of legitimacy.

If we are ever going to force Zanu PF to accept the party has failed and must restore the people's rights and freedoms as a matter of cause, we must first denounce these pretentious opposition politicians who have betrayed the nation again and again. It has not been enough to identify Zanu PF as the enemy of change, we also need to identify those amongst us who are hunting with the hounds and running with the hare, especially after 20 years of MDC selling out!

“Only China is the second country to have rare earth minerals. But being rich in these minerals is the reason why we are in serious trouble with our detractors,” said Mnangagwa.

You are the nation’s worst detractor and the real root cause of the nation’s economic meltdown. You are corrupt, incompetent and have no clue how to revive the national economy but would not admit it. You have been in power for 39 years now not because you are any good; you have rigged elections to stay in power.

The West did not rig last year’s elections, shoot dead the Zimbabweans who dare protest the vote rigging and the soaring cost of living, etc.; you did that.

The only way Zimbabwe is ever going to get out of this hell-on-earth Zanu PF has landed the nation is to force Zanu PF to step down so the nation can finally dismantle this de facto one-party dictatorship and replace it with a democratic system of government.

A UNITED Kingdom (UK) special envoy yesterday challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government to introduce genuine economic and political reforms in order to turn around its stuttering economy.

Harriet Matthews, director for Africa in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and Debbie Palmer, director for West and Southern Africa in the UK Department for International Development, yesterday delivered a special message to Mnangagwa from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Addressing journalists after meeting Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa Offices, Matthews said Harare should also urgently tackle corruption in the country.

"The government needs to implement genuine reforms, (that is) economic and political reforms. (It also needs) to address human rights issues and corruption," she said.

The situation in Zimbabwe is serious and demands decisive action. The British government has played a very useful leading role is the past and one only hopes that this will continue.

The EU’s decision to ease the sanctions imposed on the Zanu PF leaders regardless of the blatant vote rigging of last year’s elections was ill advised. One only hopes that this initiative by the British government will be followed with more robust action such as re-imposing sanctions on the regime’s leaders.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged last year’s elections and no amount of reforms by the regime can ever reverse the political reality that the country is stuck with an illegitimate regime. Stepping up the punishment is what is called for now.

The only hope to have meaningful political reforms implement is for the Zanu PF regime to step down. Zimbabwe cannot afford to have Zanu PF remain in power until 2023, the party will rig that year’s elections - guaranteed!

So Professor Mthuli Ncube proposed a ZWL$ 28 billion budget and was forced to increase it 300%! One does not need a degree in economics to know this would fuel inflation - the very thing the Minister promised will be below 10% by the end of the year! For all his mastery economics, finance, etc. he has been bamboozled by the Zanu PF thugs into pursuing their voodoo economics.

Increasing the salaries and allowance of the soldiers, Police and CIO 300% will not placate them for long if inflation is 700% and doing so certain to fuel inflation to soar even higher!

The mentality of this Zanu PF regime is worrying. The regime is not doing anything to end the country's worsening economic meltdown which affects everyone. It is not worried about the ordinary people becoming restive as it is investing heavily on arming the security services personal to the teeth and bribing them with hefty wage increases.

I agree, this is not solving anything other than digging the nation deeper and deeper into this economic mess!

Mnangagwa and his cronies have no clue how to revive the nation's economy and yet they have no intention of giving up power. They risked life and limb in wrestling power from Mugabe in November 2017 and now they believe they have the divine right to rule the country regardless of their track record of blundering from pillar to post.

The big issue before us is to settle once and once for all whether or not Zanu PF has the divine right to rule Zimbabwe. We have avoided addressing the issue for the last 39 years and have paid dearly for it. We cannot avoid addressing the curse of rigged elections and bad governance for one more day!

Zanu PF is illegitimate, the party has no mandate to govern much less a divine right to do so. The regime must step down to allow the nation to implement democratic reforms leading to free, fair and credible elections. This is the only way to end the economic crisis and Zanu PF must not be allowed to hold the nation to ransom for one more day as it has done these last 39 years!

Petina Gappah Scoffs At Mutodi.

The whole Zanu PF regime is still in power only because we have a breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent MDC - if MDC had implemented the reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections Mnangagwa et al will not be in power! Indeed, many of them will be in Chikurumbi vachirumwa neimba!
