The trouble with people like Mnangagwa is that they think they are smart, they can not only have their cake and eat it too and, better still, that no one would be the wiser!
Soon after the November 2017 coup Mnangagwa promised, amongst many other things, to hold free, fair and credible elections. He was reminded of the need to implement the democratic reforms necessary for free and fair elections and the Americans, in particular, went to great length to spell out what exactly he needed to do.
As we know, he ignored all the warning and went on to blatantly rig the July 2018 elections. ZEC failed to produce something as basic as a voters’ roll, a legal and common sense requirement. Just to rub insult to injury, he has insisted the July 2018 elections were free, fair and credible.
"Sustainable development in Africa cannot be achieved without comprehensive socio-economic development. In the case of Zimbabwe, we remain committed to fully implement the political, economic and legislative reforms,” President Mnangagwa told delegates development conference.
If Zimbabwe’s July 2018 elections elections were free, fair and credible, as he keeps insisting, then Zimbabwe does not need to implement any political reforms!
If, by acknowledging the need to implement political reforms, he is also tacitly acknowledging that the July 2018 elections were not free, fair and credible.
The consequences of failing to hold free and fair elections is that Zimbabwe does not have a legitimate government with the people’s democratic mandate to govern. Zimbabwe is a pariah state!
"As one of our tools of engagement and re-engagement strategy, we are determined to see through the IMF Staff Monitored Programme which supports our Reform Agenda as well as the achievement of the associated reform targets. In doing this, it should be understood that we are undertaking the reforms without the requisite external financial support as is the norm,” continued Mugabe.
Well the IMF, WB and all the other international donors and investors did notice that the July 2018 elections were rigged and they have all kept away from Zimbabwe. No one wants to do business in a pariah state, it is notoriously difficult to do so. The IMF has just been to Zimbabwe and has told the regime why it has repeatedly refused to bankroll Zanu PF’s reform programme.
“The International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday that Zimbabwe’s economic reform agenda was off-track, and that without further donor support the risks of a deep humanitarian crisis in the country were high,” reported Spotlight Zimbabwe.
“The government that came to office following the 2018 elections adopted an agenda focused on macro stabilisation and reforms… but is now off-track as policy implementation has been mixed,” it said in a statement outlining the conclusion of its latest Article IV consultation with the country.
Zimbabwe’s economy collapse a 15 years ago sending unemployment into the dizzying height of 80% plus. 90% of our people poor with “34% of them living in extreme poverty”, according to a recent WB report. The country’s education and health care services have all but collapsed. The IMF is right, we are facing an existential humanitarian crisis.
The solution to the crisis is for the illegitimate Zanu PF regime to step down so the country can appoint an independent body to implement the democratic reforms, the pre-requisite for free, fair and credible elections. Zanu PF will never implement the reforms, we all know that now.
Mnangagwa thought he could rig the July 2018 elections present the world with a fait accompli Zanu PF government which IMF, WB and investors will have no choice but to work with. As long as this illegitimate Zanu PF regime remain in power Zimbabwe will remain a pariah state and we will not receive a single dollar in international financial assistance, as Mnangagwa now acknowledge. Not one single dollar!
If the pariah Zanu PF regime steps down and is replaced by independent body, there is no doubt the IMF, WB and the international community will step in and fund Zimbabwe’s economic recovery. Zimbabwe is stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging Zanu PF dictatorship the independent body will implement the reforms end the curse of rigged elections and pariah state.

“In your dishonest Wilbert Mukori, you deliberately ignore the IMF/World Bank have never really supported non European countries for real development but to saddle them with debt. It is naturally desperation that make non European countries borrow from IMF/WB.Thanks to the new AIIB and New Development Banks, poorer countries have now a real chance of borrowing for real economic growth outside of the imperialist trojan horses of the Bretton Woods institutions. Zimbabwe is far better off without IMF/WB funding.”
No one forced Zimbabwe to borrow money from IMF, WB or any other institution. Having borrowed the money, Zimbabwe did not want to pay back the debt.
By the way Zimbabwe has borrowed from the Chinese, amongst many other sources, and surprise, surprise, was denied further loans because Zimbabwe would not pay back her debts!
Zimbabwe has failed to pay back her debts not because she is poor but because she has a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical regime that is wasteful of human and material resources.
We have been stuck with this wasteful regime because it rigs elections to stay in power and hence we need to implement the reforms designed to stop the vote rigging. Let me assure you here and now, Zanu PF will be forced to step down and the reforms will be implemented!

“Be involved in reviving your Country's economy Mr Wilbert than barking on the fence blaming others who are trying hard in the economy recovery...You have adopted a blame game that will never help your Country...You are not changing anything by blaming hard working guys...please be part of the game not a spectator as you are...Cant you see that Highlanders and Dimbare are in field you just watching the match...Don't blame the players while they know how to play their encountering each other…”
What could be better than pointing out that we are stuck and why we are stuck!
You want everyone to do as they are told either join in the rat race or cheer and applaud from the sideline like you.
Mthuli Ncube has not been “trying hard in the economy recovery”. He was told from the word go that his policies were doomed to fail and hence the reason why the IMF never granted Zimbabwe even one single dollar in financial assistance.
As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs with greedy professionals like Mthuli Ncube working for the illegitimate regime the country will continue to sink into the abyss. Only village idiots like Ncube will join in and you to cheer the regime along. My job is to end this political madness!
According to Emmerson Mnangagwa,he made his passionate call for international funding after he failed to secure new loans from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, African Development Bank and the paris club due to outstanding foreign debts of $8bn (£6.2bn).
Addressing the Africa forum on sustainable development in Zimbabwe’s northern town of Victoria Falls this week he said: “Our five-year national development plans running up to 2063 will endeavour to achieve an upper middle-income status by 2030“The need to remain alive to the shocks of drought and the impact of climate change through the necessary social safety nets cannot be overemphasised,” he said. “We appeal for multilateral support to augment our efforts.”
Mnangagwa had the chance to end Zimbabwe’s pariah state status which is the root cause of the country’s isolation and economic meltdown. All he needed to do was honour his promise to hold free, fair and credible elections. He blatantly rigged the July 2018 elections because his love for absolute power and the looted wealth it has brought got the better of him and his fellow Zanu PF cronies.
As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery. None!
Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown has reached dizzying height; unemployment has risen to 90%, the country’s basic services such as education and health services have all but collapse and 34% of our people now live in extreme poverty. Mnangagwa is the one stopping the economic recovery by stoping the implementation of democratic reforms which will result in the holding of free, fair and credible elections and the end of the pariah state curse. Mnangagwa is holding the nation to ransom!
“The need to remain alive to the shocks of drought and the impact of climate change through the necessary social safety nets cannot be overemphasised,” he said. “We appeal for multilateral support to augment our efforts.”
His pleas come amid Zimbabwe’s worst hunger in a decade, , with 5.5 million people in rural areas facing. Humanitarian agencies have said $200m (£155m) is needed to ensure people have food.
Mnangagwa is whistling in the graveyard - the dead are beyond hearing and caring!
Mnangagwa had the chance to end Zimbabwe's pariah state curse by holding free, fair and credible July 2018 elections. He blatantly rigged the elections and now wants to be treated as a democrat, he cannot keep his cake and eat it too!
Zimbabwe is a pariah state and no one wants to do business with a pariah state. As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery. Period!
Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF thugs are holding the nation to ransom. They believe they have the right to rule the country and since rigging elections and keeping it a pariah state is the only sure way for them to return power they are determined to keep Zimbabwe a pariah state regardless of the economic meltdown and human suffering and deaths it is causing.

“Sir, democracy (in your case, western democracy) is not an overnight project. I live in the US, the so called doyen and citadel of democracy, yet this country which has been a democracy for years is still struggling with issues of fairness and justice. If we are honest with ourselves, the last election in Zimbabwe, comparatively speaking was far much better than any we have had for years. The west and its hangers on should at least have provided carrots to allow ED to build on from this. This palpable hate for ED and ZANU-PF is counter productive and primitive politics.”
Zimbabwe is up to her eyes in serious economic meltdown mess as a result of 40 years of vote rigging and bad governance. And you think the July 2018 elections in which 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied the vote, ZEC failed to produce something as basic as verified voters’ roll, etc. were “comparatively speaking far much better than any we have had for years!” Well I am speechless!
Zimbabwe is an archetypical failed state, a Banana Republic, and you cannot even see there is something radically wrong here. The white supremacists have often said blacks are incapable of self-rule and even they must be shock that in this day and age Zimbabweans have no clue what constitutes free, fair and credible elections. No clue!
