"MDC must avoid inter-party fighting to win 2023" - subtleties of "rigging" are greatest mystery to simpleton N Garikai

The one thing Zanu PF apologist and propagandist have done well since the 2008 to 2013 GNU is convince the brain-dead MDC leaders and their supporters that the democratic reforms SADC leaders set out in the 2008 Global Political Agreement that gave rise to the GNU were all unnecessary because MDC had massive popular public support. MDC will win the elections regardless how much Zanu PF tries to rig the elections. And the result was that MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU.

When Zanu PF rigged the 2013 elections to secure a landslide victory, Morgan Tsvangirai and many of his MDC leaders were shocked! They were speechless!

MDC-T resolved the party will never again participate in future elections until all the democratic reforms were implemented. “No reform! No elections!” The other MDC factions soon followed suit and adopted the resolution as their position too.

The Zanu PF double-agents knew MDC leaders’ weak point, Achilles’ heel, was greed. As long as Zanu PF continued to dangle the few gravy train seats to all those who participated in the elections regardless how flawed and illegal the process happened to be they knew the MDC leaders’ resolve to demand reforms before elections will disappear like the morning mist. All the double agents needed to work on is provide the excuse why MDC lost the 2013 elections – fit that and victory was certain.

We are being told here that opposition will win 2023 elections is the various factions are united.

“Avoid inter-party and intraparty fighting,” wrote Canisio Mudzimu.

“The infighting and Mickey Mouse battles that have characterised the opposition in this country have managed to divert its attention from the reason for its existence — opposition.

“It is paradoxical that the energy, resources, time and effort expended on the fights have moved opposition parties' eyes from the ball and by the time they smell the coffee, it will be too late.”

What Mudzimu is conveniently forgetting is that the two MDC factions he is arguing to unite contested the July 2018 elections one united coalition, the MDC Alliance. Once again, Zanu PF prevailed because the party rigged the elections.

Zanu PF has used its carte blanche coercive powers to reduce the rural voters, constituting 60% plus of the votes, into nothing short of medieval serfs beholden to their overbearing landlords. Every time the party has felt its strangle hold on the rural populous threatened the party has gone up a gear to counter the threat.

It is no secret that President Mnangagwa’s cocky “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra is dead in the water. The flood of investors, he was sure would come, has never materialised. By blatantly rigging the 2018 elections Mnangagwa confirmed to all, especially the shrewd investors, that Zimbabwe was still a Banana Republic, a pariah state, and the November 2017 military coup had changed nothing of substance.

Investors have shied away from investing in Zimbabwe because it is notoriously difficult to do business in a pariah state. And as long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery.

The Zimbabwe economy has all but collapsed, unemployment has soared to 90%, basic services such as health care and education have all but collapsed, 49% of the population now live in abject poverty. The people are restless for change and we all know desperate people do desperate things like defy the overbearing Zanu PF landlords.

President Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies are not going to give up their electoral advantage without a fight and have thus responded to the threat of electoral rebellion by going up a gear or two on the party’s coercive machine. Starve those who dare challenge the party’s authority.

“Some Zanu-PF leaders purchased all the subsidized mealie-meal and went on to sell it to Zanu-PF members only, thus depriving thousands of people desperately needing the staple food, but did not have Zanu-PF membership cards,” reported Justina Mukoko’s Zimbabwe Peace Project.

“The partisan distribution of government food aid is a recurring problem in most rural areas which have been extensively reported on by various civil society organisations. It has left thousands of people food insecure when they desperately need food assistance during the difficult times of COVID-19.”

President Mnangagwa has already started mobilising the war veterans and the party’s youth militia, the green bombers, these are the party’s foot-soldiers if the party should see the need to go up a few more gears to coerce the voters. In the 2008 elections Zanu PF launched the “Operation Mavhotera papi!” to punish the voters for having reject Mugabe and the party in the March vote. The party went into overdrive, as the party’s foot-soldiers supported by the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services personal destroyed property worth millions of dollars, harassed, beat and/or raped millions and over 500 were murdered.

“What was accomplished by the bullet cannot be changed by the ballot!” thundered Robert Mugabe to spur the wanton violence on!

In 2018 MDC A was a united opposition but failed to win the elections because Zanu PF rigged the elections. Why is that simple reality so difficult to comprehend?

This idea that the opposition will win rigged elections is as nonsensical as someone who stubbornly continue betting on the coin landing Tail even thou the last 100 tosses plus have landed Head! The village idiot cannot comprehend the reality of a dodgy coin with two Heads! Stick two coins Tail side to Tail side and you have a dodgy coin with two Heads!

After 41 years of trying to win rigged elections, has it ever occurred to Mudzimu that we can have the democratic reforms implemented so we finally hold free, fair and credible elections!

Of course, it is insane to keep participating in flawed and illegal elections and give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. The alternative is to refuse to participate deny Zanu PF legitimacy as happened in 2008 only this time we must make sure the GNU implements the democratic reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

“Apa? Pakasungwa reruhwaya! Apa? Zinyekenyeke!” (Here? Secured with wire rope! Here? It is easy to break through!) Is a childhood game where everyone hold hands in circle and the one in the circle will go round asking in turn how secure is the hand-hold. The rest will chant back the reply in unison.
When it comes to implementing democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections it is no exaggeration to say Zanu PF has brainwashed the MDC leaders and the naïve and gullible MDC wildebeest herd of supporters that it cannot be done. Reforms are a sacred cow! Pakasungwa reruhwaya!
Ever since their GNU debacle, where the failed to implement even one reform in five years, MDC leaders have given up on getting any reforms implemented and turned their attention on winning as many gravy train seats Zanu PF was giving away to entice the opposition to participate.
The single most important thing Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies learnt from the GNU was that the party’s legitimacy depended on getting the opposition to participate in the rigged elections regardless how flawed and illegal the process got. To secure the opposition’s participation, Zanu PF dangled a few gravy train seats plus a share of the annual Political Party Finance Act pay-out.
MDC leaders have never admitted the sold-out big time by failing to implement even one reform in all their 21 years, 5 of which in the GN, on the political stage. Fortunately for them, the gullible MDC wildebeest herd have no clue what happened, even today with the benefit of hindsight.
The MDC leaders, aided and abetted by the Zanu PF double-agents, have convinced their supporters to forget about reforms and participate in flawed elections because they can win rigged elections. Each Zanu PF election victory has been greeted with complains of stolen elections from the oppositions. The opposition will call for reforms for a few months, just paying lip service, then it back to devising new strategies to win rigged elections.
The truth is just because MDC leaders are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent to implement even one reforms, even when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the GNU, it does not mean the reforms are no longer required and/or no one else can implement them. Implementing the reforms is the key to ending the curse of rigged elections and bad governance that has bedevilled Zimbabwe since 1980. There are hundreds of thousands of ordinary Zimbabweans out there who will implement the reforms; they are not rocket science for Pete’s sake!
I totally agree with you, we are going to be bombarded with Win In Rigged Election (WIRE) strategies day and night, just to get the naïve and gullible village idiots to participate in 2023 elections and give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. Universal suffrage should be a blessing but like most other blessings like diamonds it is now a curse; giving the MDC wildebeest herd the vote is like giving a monkey a gun, the danger of shooting itself or someone else is real! It is a reality that the vote rigging Zanu PF is relying on the MDC herd for its legitimacy!

Scores jostled to get a glimpse of “the People’s President”
In a video clip circulating on social media, scores are seen jostling to greet President Chamisa shouting: ”Tofa nenhamo kuno President”
President Chamisa attended the burial of Takudzwa Matinenga in Buhera.
President Chamisa wrote on his official Facebook page yesterday:” I’M IN BUHERA at the Matinenga Homestead for Takudzwa Matinenga’s send off.
I’m so humbled by the level of support. What a befitting ceremony for such a great and brilliant young life. RIP Taku!”

Democracy demands an informed and diligent electorate who will hold the leaders to account, like it or not this MDC wildebeest herd is the very antithesis of that.

Even now with all the benefit of hindsight the MDC wildebeest herd has no clue the MDC has failed to bring about even one meaningful democratic change after 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU. They have all been repeating the slogans calling for change without ever asking themselves what those changes are!

Chamisa is going to drag the nation into participating in yet another pointless elections, He will once again claim that “MDC has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections!” And, as usual, the herd will believe it. The penny has not yet dropped that by participating in the flawed and illegal elections the MDC wildebeest herd is giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy!

”Tofa nenhamo kuno President” (We are dying of poverty!) Yeah right!

If you do not even have the common sense to ask Chamisa to name just one change has MDC brought in 21 years then you deserve to suffer! “Kurumwa nechokuchera!” (You are the source of your suffering!)

As we move towards the 2023 elections the nation is going to be bombarded with messages designed to convince us that the opposition IS WINNING the elections regardless of all the Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans! All they want is to get as many Zimbabweans as possible to participate and thus give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

As soon as Zanu PF's victory and legitimacy are safely in the bag, all these pundits of how to win rigged elections, will once again disappear like the morning mist. They never linger around to answer the obvious question of what went wrong with their watertight winning strategies.

People like Mudzimu will never admit MDC A was united and yet still lost the 2018 elections because Zanu PF's vote rigging capabilities are unassailable. He will never ever admit that by participating in flawed and illegal elections Zimbabweans are doing themselves the greatest disservice only a village idiot would do - giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus help perpetuate the corrupt and tyrannical dictatorship.

Democracy demands an informed, discerning and diligent electorate willing to hold those in positions of power and responsibility to account. Not a naive and gullible electorate who have no clue what is going on and what is in their own best public interest. Of course, giving the vote rigging Zanu PF regime legitimacy is not in the nation's interest but the penny has yet to drop in the empty heads of the MDC wildebeest herd.

It was USA ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, who predicted that Morgan Tsvangirai was "flawed and indecisive character who would become an albatross round the nation's neck if he got into power!" When you have an electorate so naive and gullible, they are but village idiots. It is not surprising the village idiots have embraced Tsvangirai and his ilk, to them the MDC leaders revered demigods who can do no wrong - the albatrosses have become the milestones dragging the nation into the depths of the crashing abyss!
