As of 6 December 2021, Zimbabwe had 141 601 cumulated covid-19 cases, 2 555 new cases up from the 50 or less per day of last week.
The country has vaccinated 3.8 million and 2.8 million with the
first and second jab respectively. As recent as July this year the Zanu PF
government was promising to have the 10 million herd immunity double jabbed by
the end of the year. The soaring number of cases would be worrying if had some
line of defence; it is sickening when we have none.
“Health and childcare minister and vice President Constantino
Chiwenga has confirmed that the new Omicron variant was already in the country
in what could spoil Christmas festivities as the country is likely to announce
tight lockdown measures to curb the further spread of the deadly disease,”
reported Zimeye.
This is rich giving VP Chiwenga had assured the nation the country
had measures in place to stop the Omicron variant getting into the country; the
buffoon was just talking nonsense, as usual. Zimbabwe has not been testing for
the virus nowhere near as vigorously as it should ever since the outbreak. Of
course, if you do not test the number of cases and deaths will be low but at
the price of not tracking and containing the virus.
No doubt, the 2 555 reported cases is but the ears of the hippo
the rest of the beast is hiding in the muddy water and we are just blundering
along hoping against hope that the variant will not be deadly.
The covid-19 pandemic has hit the whole world but those nations
whose economy was a mess and health care services in shambles have suffered the
most. There is no deny that Zimbabwe is one of those countries who economy was
a mess and health care services had largely collapsed after 41 years and counting
of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.
Corona virus must help focus the nation’s mind; Zimbabwe must implement
the democratic reforms to ensure the 2023 elections are free, fair and credible
– the only sure way to end the curse of bad governance. As things stand not
even one token reform was implemented since the 2018 rigged elections; the 2023
elections are set to be a repeat of the 2018, 2013, 2008, etc.
MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic
reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They wasted the opportunity and failed to
get even one reform implemented in five years. Not even one reform!
MDC leaders and the other opposition opportunists have insisted in
participating in the flawed elections giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.
Zanu PF has offered the opposition a few gravy train seats to entice them to
participate.
If Zimbabwe has under pressure to double our efforts to end the
curse of given the country’s economic and political mess two years ago; the
corona virus pandemic has made our situation even worse, we must redouble our
efforts to make sure there is real political change in 2023.
Since it is too late for any meaningful democratic reforms to be
implement before the 2023 elections. And there is no stopping Zanu PF holding
the flawed and illegal elections. There signs are MDC and the usual opposition
suspects will participate in the flawed elections. We must make sure the flawed
election process is condemned and no legitimate government emerge of it.

Escalation of Covid-19 Cases in Schools in Zimbabwe, Worrisome
8 December 2021
The escalation of covid cases in schools is worrisome, and so is failure to adopt a broad intervention plan to combat covid-19 pandemic. In Masvingo province, Mucheke High, Gokomere High, Mutero High, and several other schools in Chivi district are currently under seige from covid-19 pandemic, while many more schools such as Victoria High, Gutu High, Deure High etc are still smarting from recent covid-19 pandemic cases, just as many other schols across the country. It is clear that lack of covid-19 abatement equipment in schools, lack of constant running water, bloated classes and conjested hostels are major issues behind the spread of covid in schools. Forget about Standard Operation Procedures, they are non-existent in most schools in Zimbabwe. There is a quandary in schools over invigilation of covid-19 positive students with many teachers forced to invigilate without protective gear. Many teachers have subsequently contracted the virus. Such command and control tactics have, therefore, endangered the health and safety of other pupils and teachers in schools. As Ptuz we urge gvt to come up with a broad strategic intervention plan rather than live in denial or lies peddled by Taungana Ndoro. If nothing is done as a matter of urgency, there is danger that schools may be virtually abandoned by teachers, or totally converted into quarantine centres rather than function as institutions of learning and teaching. At any rate, it is our conviction that teachers must be paid for invigilating public examinations run by Zimsec. A health and safety threat to one teacher and one student, is a threat to all teachers and students in Zimbabwe.
Venceremos
Dr Takavafira M. Zhou, Ptuz President
Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic governed by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have rigged elections to stay in power. This is a reality many Zimbabweans have refused to acknowledge because they did not want to deal with the problem. Like all such problems, the problem of bad governance did not go away but instead multiplied and spread turned the once upon a time jewel of Africa with booming economy into the failed state we are today.
Even no with Zimbabwe down in the gutter after 41 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule, many people still continue to bury their heads in the sands and pretend the country is a healthy and functioning democracy. Whatever is going wrong can be put right by telling those in power and authority what is wrong.
“As Ptuz we urge gvt to come up with a broad strategic intervention plan rather than live in denial or lies peddled by Taungana Ndoro!” How naïve!
Zimbabwe is a pariah state and until we implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections; nothing of substance will change! Nothing!
These war veterans have not learned the most important lesson ie that they are special because they fought in the liberation war! The liberation war was to ensure the freedom and rights of all Zimbabweans and not just those who fought in the liberation war.
There is no denying that Zimbabwe is in economic ruins and political paralysis because of the 41 years and counting of Zanu PF dictatorship. The economic meltdown has left millions of our people in without work and basic services such as education and health care have all but collapsed. The political paralysis has left the country with a corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging ruling party and an equally corrupt, competent and utterly useless opposition.
There is no deny that the corona virus pandemic has added a new layer of health challenges and economic hardships on top of the existing ones. Having a corrupt, incompetent and lawless government will make our burden, suffering and deaths that much harder to bear because the blundering incompetence of the regime will make things worse. It is common knowledge that Zanu PF has looted and/or otherwise wasted donated funds and aid.
Even if the corona virus pandemic was to disappear soon, there are many other challenges, health, economic, etc. awaiting just round the corner.
Zimbabwe is in a serious economic, political and social mess; has been for decades now; and we know the root cause is the failure to hold those in power to democratic account through the holding of free, fair and credible elections. Until we address this problem with the seriousness and urgency the matter demands, we are not getting out of this mess.
Zimbabwe is in a serious economic and political mess; 41 years and counting of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness that have earned the country the pariah state status, have taken their heavy toll. This is a nightmare of our own making because we have all watched as Zanu PF thugs ride roughshod over us denying us our freedoms and basic human rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.
Following the 2017 military coup, Mnangagwa and his coup plotters acknowledged the failures of the last 37 years, without ever going into detail why the regime had been such a failure.
Indeed, Mnangagwa and company wanted “bygones be bygones” and were easily irritated by those who did not want the last 37 years airbrush out of existence. Of course, the later were right, those who will not learn from the past are destined to blunder along repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
"Firstly, we wish to assure the nation that His Excellency, The President, of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Head of State and Government and Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde R.G Mugabe and his family are safe and sound and their security is guaranteed. We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice. As soon as we have accomplished our mission we expect that the situation will return to normalcy,” announced the sweaty Major General Sibusiso Moyo, the coup plotter spokesperson, the morning of the coup.
"To both our people and the world beyond our borders: We wish to make it abundantly clear that this is not a military takeover of Government. What the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is doing is to pacify a degenerating political, social and economic situation in our country which if not addressed may result in violent conflict.”
It is over four years since the November 2017 coup and the political, social and economic degeneration has continue because making of the criminals in the regime are still in government. The November coup was but a game of musical chairs designed to weed out one faction of the criminals; the dictatorship remained untouched.
Zimbabwe’s economic and political decline will continue with heart-breaking consequences to the millions forced into abject poverty, hopelessness, despair and death. It must be said, it is in the people’s power to end the Zanu PF dictatorship if only they would stop and think for themselves and stop being so naïve and gullible as to believe in such nonsense as MDC’s “Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies!”
