Is Chamisa praying "for peaceful and free elections" or "putting God to the test" P Guramatunhu

At the end of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Masvingo Star Rally, Nelson Chamisa, the party President, called on his party followers to make Wednesday 22 March 2022 a “National Day of Prayer for Peace!”

“Wherever you are, we are praying for:

·        Peace in Zimbabwe

·        A true revelation of the will of God

·        God’s presence in our national processes

·        Healing and restoration

·        Revival, repentance and readiness (preparedness)

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.” Announced a poster circulating on social media.

Judging from the activity on social media, many Zimbabweans heeded Chamisa’s call to prayer, adhan, azan.

But what, exactly, is Chamisa asking Zimbabweans to pray for?

It cannot be praying for peaceful, free, fair and credible elections because Chamisa and his MDC friends have had 22 years, 5 of which in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, to implement the democratic reforms necessary for peaceful and free elections. They have not only failed to get even one meaningful reform implemented but worse still have compounded the problem by insisting on participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Of course, it is nonsensical to pray for peaceful and free elections when one has wasted many golden opportunities to end the curse of rigged elections and is the one perpetuating the Zanu PF dictatorship.

Chamisa is not praying for peaceful and free elections but rather putting God to the test – testing if God will deliver peaceful and free elections regardless of MDC/CCC’s repeated failure to implement reforms necessary for such elections!

Indeed, we already know that without reforms Zanu PF is rigging these elections. The party has already denied 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote insisting the West must lift the sanctions imposed of a select few in the party. A feeble excuse since the Zimbabweans in the diaspora have no say in the matter!

There is no peace1 Two CCC supporters were hacked to death with dozens other seriously injured by machete welding Zanu PF thugs early this month. There will be more wanton violence as the 2023 nationwide elections kick-in.

Chamisa is summoning the nation to pray for peaceful, free, fair and credible elections knowing fully well he and his MDC/CCC friends have undermine every opportunity the nation had to make such elections possible. This is not a prayer for peace but a poly to test God!

Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” Matthew 4:7

If the truth be told, Trevor Ncube was very naïve to “give Mnangagwa a chance” especially when he knew Mnangagwa had been Mugabe’s henchman responsible for the corruption, vote rigging and politically motivated murderers by the regime.
I do agree with Ncube’s assessment that neither the ruling party nor the many opposition parties in Zimbabwe offer a way out of the present political and economic mess because they neither have the vision nor the political will to change anything.
“He has no belief Zanu-PF can self-correct or that there is any opposition political formation that does not cling to the notion of ‘it's our time to eat', should the political reins change hands.
Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU because having secured a seat on the gravy train, they did not want to rock the boat.
South Africa has played a very significant role is Zimbabwe’s economic and political demise by consistently endorsing Zimbabwe’s rigged elections as “substantially free and fair” or some such nonsense when they knew that was a lie. Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections, as usual, and one sincerely hopes that this time SA will make the correct and honest call!

The award winning journalist Hopewell Chinono reports how a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Official was just 2 days before the upcoming bi election, on Thursday, caught in the act of marking ballot papers at Mhizha Primary School, Highfields, Harare

This is happening during a by-election in which Zanu PF is not really under great pressure to win since it has already got its 2/3 majority in parliament and has the presidency. The party will have a lot more to lose in the 2023 elections, and no doubt there will be worse of everything we have seen so far!

Like it or not Zanu PF is rigging these elections and a these claims by Chamisa to have devised ways of stopping the rigging is just hot air - as usual!

Firing ZEC, yeah right!

Two weeks ago, Chamisa told his Gweru CCC rally he had informers in ZEC telling him what is happening ahead of time and he is stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections. The following weekend he was calling for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for peaceful and free elections. Today he is threatening to fire ZEC if elections are rigged! Of course, he knows that Zanu PF is rigging these elections and the rest is the usual grandstanding and posturing!

Zimbabweans need a roadmap out of this mess and not gimmicks!

SATURDAY's by-elections could be reduced to a sham after it emerged Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) polling agents are withdrawing their participation after receiving unspecified threats.

CCC deputy secretary for elections Ellen Shiriyendenga claimed their polling agents are pulling out due fear after having been intimidated by suspected Zanu-PF activists and traditional leaders in rural areas.

Shiriyedenga said the rate at which some polling agents are pulling out was worrisome.

"We are getting a worrying trend with regards to our polling agents. Particularly you go to Marondera East, Murewa South and also Mwenezi South, where we are having our polling agents being intimidated to an extent that some actually withdrew out of fear and that culture of fear is going unabated," Shiriyedenga said.
After 42 years of rigged elections the penny should have dropped by now of the sheer futility of trying to win rigged elections. Zimbabwe has had many opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance, the best chance coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Alas! The nation was wasted everyone one of these chances!
Robert Mugabe bribe Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends, including Chamisa and the other CCC leaders, with the trappings of high office and with their snouts in the feeding trough they forgot about the reforms.
SADC leader advised MDC not to participate in the elections without the reforms and the advice fell on deaf ears – ears stuffed full of the gravy train good living. Indeed, Zanu PF has offered a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate in the flawed elections; MDC/CCC have found the bribe irresistible.
Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections and CCC are hell bent on participating regardless out of greed.
The ordinary people lack the intellect to see the sheer futility of participating a these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and so the nation is well and truly stuck!

@ Arthur Mntungwa

“What do you expect from Shona people, apart from dishonesty?”

We do have corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs in both the ruling party and the opposition hence the reason we are in this mess. It would be dishonest, indeed nonsensical, to even suggest that all the politicians in the ruling party and the opposition parties are only Shona.

Zimbabwe is in serious trouble and dismantling the dictatorship is not going to be a walk in the park and by engaging in this utterly pointless tribal and regional rivalry will only make task of digging ourselves out of this mess even more difficult. Only fools would make their already difficult task to survive near impossible!
