There are some things we can debate and even agree to disagree. There are others we should not even discuss because they are obvious and beyond dispute. The right of every Zimbabwean to a meaningful say in the governance of the country is one of those things beyond dispute.
The right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country is more than just a right - it is the essence of good governance.
Zimbabwe is a failed state precisely because for 45 years and counting the nation has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship. The regime has rigged elections to stay in power, denying the people a meaningful say in the governance of the country.
Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies rigged the 2023 elections. Both SADC and AU have condemned the election process as flawed and illegal. Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF government are illegitimate.
It is therefore an outrage that the regime should be seeking to extend its stay in power by amending the constitution to give parliament the power to postpone 2028 elections to 2030.
“Muchida, mushingadi vaMnangagwa varikusvika nenyika mugore ra2030!” (Whether people like it or not Mnangagwa will remain in power until 2030!) boasted Zanu PF Minister Garwe. He even had the cheek to call those objecting to the outrageous proposals, demons.
Yes, I readily admit that I am one of these demanding that Zanu PF must not amend the constitution and that Mnangagwa must not stay beyond 2028. Mnangagwa and his cronies can call me a puppet, Uncle Tom, a demon, etc., etc.; I still stand firm on my demands.
Mnangagwa has been at the heart of this Zanu PF government for 45 years the last 7 years of which he was the top dog and will remain in that office another 3 years till 2028 years. Why is he asking to stay in power for an additional 2 years beyond the 2028?
Mnangagwa must answer the following questions:
- 1) What are these transformative projects you say will turn Zimbabwe, a failed state in which millions are living in abject poverty today, into an upper middle income nation by 2030 - the so-called vision 2030?
- 2) Why has Zanu PF failed to deliver these projects these last 45 years, 48 years to the end of 2028 to justify amending the constitution to give you an addition two more years?
- 3) And what is so special about the projects and/or Mnangagwa that only him and no one else can be trusted to complete them?
- 4) The Zimbabwe economic has been in decline ever since the country’s independence, if the country is going to be an upper middle income nation by 2030; surely we should be signs by now of the economic recovery. Where is it that there are signs of economic recovery?
- 5) When Mnangagwa took-over from Mugabe in 2017 he proclaimed that “Zimbabwe was open for business!” He was cocksure his proclamation would be followed by a flood of investors kick starting the comatose economy. There was no flood of investors came and the Zimbabwe economy is still in the doldrums! Vision 2030 is just another one of his empty promises, isn’t it?
- 6) Last but most important of all; if the nation wakes up on 1st January 2031 to the reality of the nation is still a failed state and that vision 2030 was just a blatant lie, a mirage! What then Mr Mnangagwa?
Of course, we all know the answers to all these questions. Vision 2030 is just the latest Zanu PF feeble excuse to remain in office, the party thugs believe they have the divine right to rule the country and to loot the nation’s wealth.
Mnangagwa and Zanu PF will never ever admit to failure much less to looting and tyrannical oppression. Zanu PF would be plotting on how to rig the 2030 elections if the regime had not devised another extension of its mandate!
“You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go.” Oliver Cromwell told the British Rump parliament in 1653 which too had over stayed its lawful mandate and its usefulness.
The people of Zimbabwe should have booted out this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime together with its equally corrupt and useless MDC/CCC side-kick decades ago. We did not and have paid dearly for our folly. The number one priority before us today is to stop Zanu PF amending the constitution to strip away the people’s right to regular elections and to make sure that from hence forth these elections are free, fair and credible.

Local Government and Public Works Minister, Cde Daniel Garwe, has called on Zimbabweans to support the Vision 2030 drive, emphasizing that it is a unifying national agenda that transcends political affiliations. Speaking to councillors from six local authorities in the Midlands province, Minister Garwe underscored the inclusive nature of the initiative, which aims to elevate Zimbabwe to an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
Vision 2030 is first and foremost about amending the constitution to allow Mnangagwa to stay in power beyond the stipulated maximum two term limit. Why this is now being falsely presented as the only condition for political stability and economic prosperity.
After 45 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule, the regime has all but destroyed the country’s economy. And now the regime is holding the nation to ransom threatening that there would be no economic recovery unless Zanu PF is allowed to stay in power. This is where all this unity bull shit is coming in. The people of Zimbabwe must stand firm and refuse to be blackmailed and abused!
A faction within Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party has reacted sharply to recent statements made by war veterans, denouncing President Emmerson Mnangagwa's allies for attempts to extend his tenure beyond the 2028 constitutional limit.
The tensions have flared after Mnangagwa appeared to reject calls for an extension of his presidency through a resolution passed at the 2024 Zanu-PF National People's Conference, dubbed ‘Resolution #1.' The resolution had advocated for the 82-year-old leader to remain in power until 2030, despite his constitutional term limit.
Blessed Runesu Geza, a member of the Zanu-PF Central Committee and a vocal critic, spearheaded the backlash, labeling Mnangagwa a "failed leader" who should step down or face unspecified consequences. Geza, known for his acerbic rhetoric and the nickname "Bombshell," held a press conference in Harare, where he publicly criticized the President and his loyalists. His comments were soon followed by a statement from Ben Ncube, the organizing secretary of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), who expressed the ex-combatants' disapproval of the President's apparent move to amend the Constitution and extend his rule beyond 2028.
The criticisms by Geza and Ncube have sparked speculation about a possible power struggle within Zanu-PF, with political observers suggesting that the two factions may be backed by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, a frontrunner to succeed Mnangagwa after his second and final term.
In a televised address on Tuesday night, Information Minister Jenfan Muswere vehemently denounced Geza's comments, accusing him of hypocrisy and disloyalty. Muswere noted that Geza had previously been a strong advocate for the 2030 extension resolution at the Zanu-PF conference, which made his current criticisms "surprising" and "self-contradictory."
"These individuals, while purporting to be members of the ruling party, are not using proper channels to address their grievances," Muswere said. "It is unfortunate that these individuals are now demonizing the President, even though they played a role in passing Resolution #1, which called for the President to stay in office until 2030.”
The primary purpose of passing resolution #1 was to gratify Mnangagwa’s insatiable hunger for power. He has been at the heart of political power for 45 years with the last 7 years and the top dog. He is addicted to power and so he is devising all manner of ways to stay in power for a few more years.
He wants to amend the constitution to taking the people’s right to elect leaders for fixed term and to come back to the people for a new mandate. He wants politicians to have the power to postpose elections willy-nilly to extend their mandate as they wish. This is an attack of the people’s right to have a meaningful say in the governance of the country; the people must not allow this to happen.
Presidential adviser Paul Tungwarara has warned that the recent attack on President Emmerson Mnangagwa by war veterans could have serious consequences for Zimbabwe's economy, potentially undermining efforts to attract both domestic and foreign investment.
Tungwarara's remarks came on Wednesday after a faction of war veterans, led by Blessed Geza, publicly called for Mnangagwa's resignation, accusing him of constitutional violations and failing to combat corruption. The call has rocked the ruling Zanu-PF party, which is already grappling with an internal pushback against plans to extend Mnangagwa's tenure by two years beyond the constitutional limit of two terms, which ends in 2028.
Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections, he is illegitimate. And now he is seeking to extend his illegitimacy by amend the constitution to give himself the power to postpone elections.
Zimbabwe has struggled to attract investors because it is a pariah state and rigging the elections and now seeking to postpone elections will only serve to confirm Zimbabwe is indeed a pariah state.
How anyone, much less a “Presidential Investment adviser”, can argue that those fighting to stop this madness are undermining the country’s hope to attract investors beggars belief. No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state, what hope is there of attracting investors with such goofy advisers!

"On infrastructure ED has performed. #vision 2030!" How nauseating! How will the construction of Glassblock Dam transform the whole of Bulawayo end the 90% unemployment, improve roads, etc. to a city befitting upper middle income status in five years? The Dam is being build at what cost?
Whether the people of Zimbabwe understand it or not the truth is the MDC/CCC opposition is Zanu PF team B in all but name, they have been playing for team A to win and have legitimacy in return for a few gravy train seats.
If we are serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship then we must take the task of electing competent opposition with the seriousness and urgency the matter demands. MDC/CCC are a joke and I am crying.
Cry, Zimbabwe cry because as long as we do nothing to get quality opposition the country will continue to sink into the abyss!
You must know what you get beyond the grade one stuff of “change so we can live happily ever after” and fight for that change yourself and not expect to do that for you. He is fighting to be the next dictator!

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed t repeat the same mistakes and will pay dearly with each repeat.
ALL Zimbabweans contributed in the fight for independence only for Mugabe and his cronies to hijack the revolution claiming they had the DIVINE right to rule and loot.
Ever since the formation of the MDC/CCC Zimbabweans have risked all to elect the opposition on the understanding they would implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Mnangagwa rigged 2023 elections and got away with it thanks to Chamisa & Co. selling out.
The people supported the 2017 military coup only to swap one dictator for another. There is reason to fear the people will join the fight to stop the EDfor2030 bandwagon only to swap one dictator for another.
The lesson we should have learned by now is: We must be clear what we want! We want the end of the dictatorship and not to swap one dictator for another.
@ Zvinhu
Praising Mnangagwa for the Chivi - Mhambamabwe road!
And all those living along the road are living in abject poverty as do the millions of others in Zimbabwe. How anyone can ignore the tragic reality in Zimbabwe and proclaim #vision2030 just because a long over due road or Glassblock Dam was completed beggars belief!
Alas! Zimbabwe has some of the most ignorant, gullible and stupid people on earth! No wonder we are a failed state, failed nations that does not even have the common sense to see we are in deep s***t!
The idiot does not even know the road costed the nation an arm and a leg thanks to the wholesale looting. Mnangagwa is the godfather of the looting!

“What is disturbing about Chamisa's preference of working together with Chiwenga to remove Mnangagwa comes from power the general has in the army. He overlooks the most painful chapter of our history. He disregards 1980s Chiwenga's genocide atrocities he executed in Matabeleland South as General under Mnangagwa, then minister state security. It is about Chamisa and never about the people. It dawned on me late about the emotional disconnect between two tribal factions of Mashona's and Ndebeles. Chamisa is painfully disconnected from genocide atrocities of the past. According to him it is about getting power by hook and crook, and he goes to occupy the state house. He has sunk very low to contractually near himself to Chiwenga to get kinetic force from Chiwenga for his personal ends. Just saying.
Chamisa; Chiwenga: or C & C there is something deeply interesting from this pact: They are both weak characters with painful cowardice traits. Both are not the brightest stars in the sky. It is as obvious to me as my nose on my face, these two; C & C will never achieve anything tangible in terms of regime change. How they fear death; But they would rather they send jack and jill to die for them to enter the state house. Chiwenga has the army at his disposal he can use to stage a coup; Chamisa has the mob to demonstrate until regime change. My question is, realizing these two powerful tools they have, why has the coup not taken place? Why have mob demonstrators not taken to the streets to shut down the entire country and force Mnangagwa to resign? Just saying.”
Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement even one token reform in 25 years including the five years of the GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so. He has lied again and again to the people about winning RIGGED elections just to con them to participate in the flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy in return for a few gravy train seats.
Chamisa will co-operate with Chiwenga or any one else if that will earn him more treats and political power for himself and a few more gravy train seats for his cronies. Nothing would please Chamisa more than a new GNU with all the trappings of 2008 to 2013 GNU!
VP Chiwenga has played his role these last 45 years in establishing the Zanu PF dictatorship and he has taken his lion’s share of the spoils of power. He led the 2017 military coup for the sake of power, hence the reason why he is VP.
Chiwenga does not have a drop of democrat blood in his vein. He is resisting this EDfor2030 for selfish reasons; he wants to be Zimbabwe’s next dictator. Period!
@ Mbofana
“He went further, warning that their statements could have lasting negative consequences for the country's development and international standing.
To drive his point home, he even suggested that Zimbabwe should consider implementing stricter laws - like those in the UAE - to criminalize what he called "smear campaigns" against national leaders.

This is nothing short of a chilling call for repression.
Tungwarara's remarks reveal a deeply troubling mindset - one that prioritizes silencing dissent over addressing legitimate grievances.
It is hardly surprising that individuals directly appointed by Mnangagwa to high positions feel the need to sing his praises and defend his desperate bid to cling to power.
We see the same from ministers like Daniel Garwe and Owen Ncube, who have been crisscrossing the country in a frantic campaign to push for an unconstitutional extension of their leader's rule.”
Zanu PF has never ever tolerated meaningful debate much less democratic discourse. Never ever! Mnangagwa is desperate to hang on to power and will do anything to get what he wants and will brook no opposition. God only knows what he is going to do next to push his agenda to amend the constitution to stay in power.
This has all the makings of a tragedy. Indeed with the country a failed state sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss, we are already in the middle of the tragedy. I dread to think how it will all end and when!
What makes our situation hard to swallow is that we had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship, especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, and we wasted them all. Worse still, millions of our people have no clue what is going on and hence are destined to repeat many of the stupid mistakes over and over again.

DRC and Mozambique are burning and SADC is twiddling its thumbs, helpless to help put out the fire. Mnangagwa, as chairman of SADC, is the last person anyone would trust to solve these nations' problems given his tarnished historic record as corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thug in Zimbabwe and in other countries.
Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections and is, per se, illegitimate. He is in power only because MDC/CCC sold out and now the nation and the region is paying dearly for it.
@ Aspin
Zimbabwe would not be in this mess if we could remove failed leaders from office. The nation has been stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship for 45 years! Resolution Number 1 must be to implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections!
@ Leonard Koni
"2025 is going to be a very busy year in Zimbabwe politically, socially, and economically.
There are really fundamental concerns that are gaining centre stage in the political sector, to be specific. Politics defines who we are as a people and how the economy operates.
Our economy is currently in intensive care and need oxygen to revive. Retail shops are closing, and unemployment is skyrocketing. The bulk of Zimbabweans have poverty written all over their faces.
Emmerson Mnangagwa's political ability is diminishing, and he lacks support at the grassroots level; hence, the creation of parallel structures. It's a time bomb.
There are only a few brigades of renowned bootlickers who are promoting this 2030 Agenda, and their bubble is not going to see the light of day and will burst soon."
There is no investor confidence there has been none for donkey years now. Zimbabwe is a pariah state governed by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have rigged elections these last 45 years to stay in power. No one was fooled by the 2017 musical chairs to replace one dictator with another.

The reassurance from Tendai Biti that Mnangagwa will never win the two referendum to allow him to stay in power beyond 2028 is not worth the spit! Zanu PF has rigged elections for 45 years and counting and the last 25 years of which with the connivence of Biti and his MDC/CCC sell-out friends.
SADC and AU have condemned Zimbabwe's 2023 elections as flawed and illegal. Mnangagwa dismissed their comments with contempt and even called them "vavengi vedu". SADC and AU are not our enemies and it is high time we stopped participating in electoral process "so flawed, so illegal the logical step is to withdraw" to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate our own suffering.
If passed, the two referendums with have far reaching repercussions it will be irresponsible that there should ever be any doubt the result is the true democratic wish of the people because the process was flawed and illegal!
https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1LyGBgXBkAbJN
Elections must be free, fair and credible, this is not just a right but the very essence of good governance. It is a great tragedy that MDC/CCC have sold out on reforms and thus failed to deliver free elections. We are in this mess, with an illegitimate government because Chamisa and his CCC fiends participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF victory and legitimacy.
The consequences to the nation of participating in flawed referendums to give Zanu PF legitimacy have far more serious than a rigged elections and therefore there must be no doubt on the process being free and fair and the result being the true democratic wish of the people.
NO ZIMBABWEAN IS HIS/HER RIGHT MIND SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE REFERENDUM UNLESS THE PROCESS I FREE AND FAIR. ZANU PF IS RIGGING AND WE SHOULD NOT GIVE THE RESULTS LEGITIMACY BY PARTICIPATING.
