PRESIDENT CHAMISA CCC RESIGNATION STATEMENT: Paragraphs 70–71 couldn’t be truer.
"70. The original CCC idea has however been contaminated, bastardized, hijacked by ZANU PF through the abuse of State institutions. CCC has not been aligned to its founding Purpose and Mandate. Further, CCC has now been rendered an extension of and been taken over by ZANU PF. CCC has, to all intents and purposes, been criminally handed over to ZANU PF.
71. Our politics has been defiled by schemes of personal aggrandizement upon a runaway pursuit of politics of positions, title, benefits, trinkets and trappings of office. A contaminated, bastardized, hijacked CCC cannot deliver a New Great Zimbabwe!"
Exactly why we maintain ours is never about resignation, or what some may call sabbatical, or even abandonment of the struggle. It is about retiring, abandoning and moving beyond a sterile, compromised and hijacked past of the struggle, one that has lost the credibility and moral authority to serve as the foundation for the new. It is, ultimately, a return to the citizens - to think and act anew, to task and ask anew, to build and deploy anew!
SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT…A RESPONSE TO MR CHIN’ONO .
Dear Mr Chin’ono,
I am making this response out of turn with my usual approach ,not to engage individuals personally.
I last spoke to you in 2022, soon after the death of Dr. Alex Magaisa.
We stopped talking after there had been a leaked audio ,in which you and the unidentified intelligence operative, were gratuitously attacking me without basis or reason, and through lies, when you had direct and full access to me . I therefore saw no reason to continue to trust you.
Since then, you have been on a hateful smear campaign, devoting your time to paint me a monster, and less than wise .
Your post earlier follows a series of other like-sounding character assassinations and malicious attacks. A line has been consistently crossed, whereby all manner of false narratives have been manufactured to damage and harm my standing , even where the verifiable truth suggests and informs otherwise.
I make the following submissions, on the various wild assertions, with the sole intent of putting to bed these sideshows, distractions, and allow us to focus our attention on citizens’ struggles ,where it is needed most. My focus is on fighting for freedom, transformation, a Citizens Republic, and a Citizens government in our life .
The following are falsehoods that have been peddled ,and the lies conceived or concocted by haters.
1. I am a champion of structured and organized grassroots movement outfits, having successfully founded and formed MDC, MDC ALLIANCE and CCC . It is simply not true that I am averse to structured politics. My record within the democratic movement says it all. I am part of a proud history of forming strong movements which have defeated dictatorship to the point of them now attempting to ban elections. Which other movements on the continent have been as strong electorally, as MDC, MDC-A and CCC? Check my involvement in all three? I am fully aware of how you achieve results.
A movement is not just a name. A movement is an idea, a strategy, a structure, it’s about collective leadership, its team effort, its energizing the base, it’s an organized approach , but above all, an ability to evolve and survive, uncompromised.
You do not organize effectively as we did, and win elections successively as we did, without a plan, method, a structure, and a strategy .
If it were that easy and straightforward, everyone would be able to do it.
2. I’m a proud team player . It is NOT TRUE that the CCC was a “one man band.” CCC is in the local government, National Assembly and Senate. So how does CCC become a “one-man band” when it is represented across these arms of government and state, yet the ‘one man’, yours truly, is not even part of the band ? It’s just outright malice!
You say I made myself President ,and deliberately built CCC around myself. That is false and malicious.
CCC organically emerged from broad consultations we made across the length and breadth of Zimbabwe, prior to its formation. The citizens I consulted nationwide gave a mandate to spearhead the then new baby, as a response to the hijacking of the MDC Alliance upon ED machinations .
We went out into the countryside with three questions:
i. What do we do with the fact that the court has taken away the party name, and the party from us?
ii. Do we continue to participate in disputed elections without reforms ?
iii. How do we select candidates, Presidential, MPs and Councillors?
The responses from the citizens informed how we behaved thereafter, and up to this day.
How does a “one man band” attract over 2 million votes and be able to organize and support candidates in different communities all over Zimbabwe ?
As a matter of verifiable fact, the CCC had organs such as the Citizens National Assembly , which met and made binding decisions which I was also bound to, even in instances where I was of a different political or strategic view.
The CNA brought together cluster leaders representing different districts.
We also had committees, as well as Bureau heads who shared the responsibility of the stewardship of CCC.
CCC had an Administration Bureau, an International relations Bureau, a Policy Bureau, an Election Bureau, a Communications Bureau, a Organizing Bureau, a Fundraising Bureau, a Local Government Bureau etc . The different leaders who led these Bureaus and presented reports at various times, are known and identifiable.
Below we had the Cluster leaders in all the districts of our provinces across the country. We also had change champions in every village and street . That was a structure.
3. It is NOT TRUE ,that as leader, I personally chose candidates. This is utter and blatant falsehood.
There are some candidates whom I did not even prefer, but I could not replace what the wards and constituencies had sponsored through an internal democratic process.
CCC had a Candidates Independent Selection procedures and Panel (and an appeals structure) which I did not even sit in .
Candidates were popularly selected by the grassroots , through a novel, disruptive, inaugural, but very effective approach which we used.
Regarding the selection process itself, all opinion leaders I met stressed the importance of a consultation approach, opposed to direct primary election . The guidelines of the approach is public knowledge.
It’s not correct that I handpicked candidates . As a matter of fact, to this day, not even a single constituency contested the candidates that were announced, nor did any candidate formally register displeasure within the party.
CISP ran public candidates selection programs all over the country with zero participation by myself . Every candidate knows the processes they went through, and my non involvement. Any displeasure remains a fabrication of those who didn’t make it.
4. It is NOT TRUE that CCC did not have elected leaders.
Public representatives are elected leaders. Citizens met in their different communities and elected their leaders, including the interim leaders who managed the day to day affairs of CCC at national level .
A leadership is elected or appointed . Our circumstances were unique in many ways which motivated our strategies.
Days into our formation, we had to participate in by-elections .
Within 18 months, we had to participate in a national election , which otherwise made the need for a Congress not an immediate strategic priority.
CCC had structures which organized our political activities in communities . The rallies we held and votes we attracted, the rigging notwithstanding, tell a story.
Even after the rigged elections, the CNA met to resolve the way forward. How can anyone be blind to this reality?
5. It is NOT TRUE that CCC did not have constitutive documents, including a constitution. This constitution is before a court of law. Its common cause that one cannot challenge an organization in court, unless it is a legal persona .
For you to “register” with ZEC for electoral participation, you must have a constitution, and an identifiable leadership structure for correspondence .
ZEC has the CCC Constitution. This constitution is with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the court of law, and the Parliament of Zimbabwe .
Case in point, the Speaker of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, Advocate Jacob Mudenda ,used that very constitution to authenticate correspondence with him , including, but not limited to the time where we sent the list of CCC Parliamentary leaders and focal persons, after the 2022 by-elections.
In the meantime, that money ,$10 000, you offered to donate upon the adducing of the evidence on the existence of a constitution and organogram, please transfer it to the Kariba Ferry cause and survivors .
6. It is for me personally, an insult to the collective wisdom of Zimbabweans, that there was no rallying ideology around CCC ,but rather “personality politics” or a “personality cult” .
Even under MDC-A, our efforts were opportunistically christened “MDC euphoria” even though we mobilized and attracted thousands of first time voters.
Under CCC, we maintained our base ,and continued attracting more first time voters. How do you manage all this, absence a message which the masses resonate with ?
For the avoidance of doubt, our collective rallying point as citizens in 2023, was a “Zimbabwe that works for everyone”.
We developed a New Great Zimbabwe blueprint which captured our ideas and governance framework . The citizens embraced both and rallied behind us. How do you achieve this, willy-nilly?
Such claims can only come from armchair critics ,who have fortunately never carried the burden of leadership as some of us have, but only rely on performative hindsight scripting .
7. How do you place upon the victim, the problems brought to them by the perpetrator ?
Is this the definition of “constructive criticism?
You can’t blame us for the misfortunes we have encountered .
Would it be fair for anyone to say Hopewell is now living outside the country because he is weak and running away from jail ? Would it be fair to say award winning journalist do not hide ?
You ,my brother ,are not weak. You are a victim of dictatorship, and need solidarity and support because of the uniqueness of your circumstances.
What constitutive weaknesses does the Zimbabwean constitution have, which explains how and why it has been abused by the state, with reckless abandon?
By its nature, infiltration is a consequence of dictatorship, not an absence of internal mechanism , as you allege.
You don’t infiltrate anything that is not a threat .
MDC was infiltrated. So was ZAPU, ZUM, FORUM Party and many others before. It’s not a weakness. It’s a sign of feared strength and capacity.
Who infiltrates nothing? How does one invade something none-existent?
Our only crime is a tendency not to engage in the public besmirching of characters whose compromised tendencies become known to us .
We either redeploy or completely disengage, but ultimately allow them to expose themselves, which is why we continue standing!
I will not apologize to my opponents.
Taking stock of our decisions is an otherwise ongoing endeavor in this responsibility of leadership. I embrace it wholeheartedly, and with the seriousness it deserves.
8. Lastly, I reiterate ,that journalism should be practiced with responsibility. Responsibility to your readers, first and foremost.
Your acerbic and personal attacks did not begin yesterday. You have spent years in antics and tactics to turn ordinary Zimbabweans against me. That is your democratic right, but you have failed dismally in this hopeless project.
Taking an anti-Chamisa hatchet job, and engaging in unending character assassination, riddled with lies and abused half-truths, is not journalism . That’s politics.
That’s not journalism, that’s jealousism.
Of course, continuing on this path, remains your choice as well.
Politics and nation building is not a spectator sport. We each contribute to the best of our unique yet different abilities.
Those of us who entered the arena carry the consequences of our choices and decisions.
Granted, there are things we could have done better, and the best way to approach it is not to make it a personal issue.
Institutional improvements should be a collective conversation amongst citizens.
We must never personalize national issues. More importantly, we must never personalize institutions, nor institutionalize personalities.
Zimbabwe needs a Citizenocratic and democratic future, and I remain committed to the fulfilment of the same.
History will judge all of us. But history should be written from truth and facts, not hate and bitterness.
With love. God bless Zimbabwe.
Poor, poor Chamisa. There is nothing more pathetic than a moron pretending he is a genius! Chamisa is corrupt, incompetent, a liar and a conman and there is a mountain of evidence in the public domain to prove all this and yet he continues to deny it!
Zanu PF is in power today because it has blatantly rigged elections and got away with it because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform in 26 years including the 5 GNU years. Ever since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.
You, Nelson Chamisa, conned millions to participate in flawed 2023 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy on the basis of an idiotic lie that you plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. You even evoked the name of God Almighty. You lied that CCC was going to win 2023 elections and lied that this was God’s plan!
If MDC/CCC leaders had no sold out the Zanu PF dictatorship would have been dismantled by 2013, at the latest! Yes Mnangagwa signed the Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 (CAB3), granting himself and his Zanu PF cronies even more dictatorial powers all because MDC/CCC leaders are Zanu PF team B in all but name, playing for team A to win and to have legitimacy.
“I am part of a proud history of forming strong movements which have defeated dictatorship to the point of them now attempting to ban elections!” Just another idiotic lie completely divorced from the real world!
The real tragedy for Zimbabwe is that millions of our people are ignorant, naive and gullible; so ignorant, naive and gullible they have believed Chamisa’s idiotic lies again and again.

"We do not defend leaders. We defend ideas, principles and the dignity of our people. The moment a leader betrays those principles, defending that leader becomes a betrayal of the cause itself," said Journalist Hopewell Chin'ono.
Well said the only trouble is he has not even attempted to honour that himself!
Soon after the 2017 Chin'ono was one of Mnangagwa's cheer leaders calling on the nation to "give Mnangagwa a chance"! Of all people Chin'ono KNEW Mnangagwa was a corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thug. What ideas was Chin'ono defending in defending Mnangagwa?
@ Tony Bindura
I believe many Zimbabweans have opened their eyes and can see Chamisa for the corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless opposition leaders he is. They have not dropped him because in their infantile intellectual capacity they still believe they have to choose between Chamisa and Mnangagwa.
A mouse will never consider choosing a black mamba or cobra a choice because either snake will kill it. It is a false choice! The mouse will choose to escape from the two snakes and that is thinking outside the box.
Why some Zimbabweans are seemingly incapable of thinking outside the box speaks volumes of their IQ! We are a failed state for a reason!
