Mugabe is "happy" to wait for new constitution before fresh elections - has he grown soft?!

Mugabe tells the Independence Day crowd he is “happy” for elections to wait until the completion of the new constitution writing process. A few weeks ago SADC had called on him to end the increasing political violence and suggested a roadmap to fresh elections after the writing of the new constitution was complete. Mugabe had insisted fresh elections would be held with or without the new constitution. As for President Zuma’s criticism he dismissed it as “interference”. As far as Mugabe was concerned Zimbabwe was "independence and sovereignty" nation and would not be “dictated” to. There was none of the usual anti-West vitriolic rhetoric this time. The softer tone in Mugabe’s speech was unmistakable. It has left many wondering whether he has changed or is this just a game. This is typical of Mugabe; when it suits him he will go to great lengths to ensure not only is the letter and spirit of the law followed but will bend over backwards to ensure every t is crossed and i dotted. He will make a big song and dance about it and the uninitiated will shower him with brownie points for being such a stickster of the law. Meanwhile he will continue to disregard and/or violate the most basic and fundamental laws repeatedly without the slightest sense of shame, remorse or sympathy for his victims. The real test of whether Mugabe has really had his road-to-Damascus changing moment will be if the political violence which has now become a permanent feature of Zimbabwe politics stopped. And the only sure way to ensure it stopped and never rears its ugly head again is by disbanding the Zanu PF militia and War vets, reconstituting the Police, CIO and Soldiers to end their partisan bias and return them to their principle duty of maintaining law and order and defending the nation and by arresting all those responsible for all the beatings, rapes and murders in the last two years and show these criminals they are not above the law. Up to now Mugabe has organised the political violence against his critics and opponents and even boosted that he “has degrees in violence”. If he is really a changed man then he must take a lead in punishing the thugs and henchmen who are carrying out all those heinous acts in his name! 66666 In 2008 the people of Tsholotsho elected Professor Moyo as their MP. He had stood as an independent candidate having been kicked out of Zanu PF after the Tsholotsho debacle where Moyo and others tried to topple Mugabe but failed. Professor Moyo has since rejoined Zanu PF and the people of Tsholotsho are displeased because, like most Zimbabweans, they despise Zanu PF and Mugabe. Professor Moyo is definitely a very clever and articulate speaker; so it is easy to see why many people have been impressed enough to vote for him. Sadly there is a sad and dark side to Professor Moyo; he is devilishly cunning and ruthless ambitious. He has shown that he will stop at nothing to get what he wants; he is the type who would sell their own mother for a price and be proud they had a mother to sell! After the Tsholotsho debacle, even Mugabe, a cunning fox by his own right, learnt just what a slippery sewage rat Moyo can be. The dictator welcome Moyo back in the Zanu PF fold because he needs ruthless and cunning minds around him to retain his grip on power. The people of Tsholotsho should have learnt not to trust Moyo from Mugabe’s misfortune; hopefully they have learnt this time.
