Ken Mufuka it is Zanu PF corruption the real hyena we must take serious and not US sanctions the mythical three headed hyena!

I used to read Ken Mufuka's "Letter from America" in the Chronicle, I stopped because they became tediously monotonous - starting nowhere and going nowhere else. I can see that things have not changed; all Ken has done here (see Nehanda Radio opinion US sanctions should be taken seriously) is tells that he was in Washington and he knows "of a small but important office in the US treasury department called office of foreign assets control."

If Zimbabwe is free to trade goods and services with China, Russia, India, etc. under whatever terms it sees fit then why should America not do the same?

Ever since the west imposed sanctions on Mugabe and his cronies back in 2002 Mugabe responded with his look east policy and made a big song and dance about it. The message then was very clear Zimbabwe does not need the West because she will get all she need to grow and prosper from the East.

Indeed Zimbabwe should have gone on to prosper because there was nothing Zimbabwe was getting from the West she could not source from the East. Ian Smith managed to grow the economy under even more stringent UN sanctions for Pete's sake!

The Zimbabwe economy did not prosper but continues in its downward spiral showing that it was not the sanctions imposed by the West but something else. The something else was mismanagement and corruption which Mugabe vehemently denied allowing these cancers to grow and spread and after 34 years they are killing the economy.

So the regime has been caught in this self contradictory position where it insists it does not need the West and yet blames the West for all the country's economic troubles! A hopeless and feeble excuse, only the brainwashed morons would believe.

When Mugabe signed the mega deals with China and Russia a few weeks ago he, announce the deals with a lot of chest drumming like a gorilla silver back; giving the impression that he has all he wanted for his ZimAsset economic recovery plan. It was all a bluff of course because none of these two country would give him a dollar for the budgetary support. The Chinese told him why to his face; "he is a bad debtor"!

The Zimbabwe economy is in ICU and needs surgery to remove those cancerous tumours and instead of Mugabe admitting it he is now fishing for a new sanctions angle why the mega deals with China and Russia are not working. This article by Ken is giving that new angle more mileage.

The Zimbabwe economy is in total meltdown and the economic hardships this is imposing on the ordinary people are truly heart-breaking. We know no economy in the world could sustain the criminal waste of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption that now exist in Zimbabwe. We need to deal with these cancers now and stop wasting time on these mythical sanctions.

Indeed if these sanctions are effective as Mugabe says they are; then we need a government that can work with the West and Mugabe has clearly failed to do so.

Mugabe must go and go he will. Zimbabwe must have free, fair and credible elections in which the people have a say as to who governs the country. Let us put to rest this nonsense of no regime change by Mugabe and Zanu PF; if the people vote for regime change then there will be regime change!
After living in America for all these donkey years Ken Mufuka, of all people, should understand the critical importance of a free and meaningful vote in good governance. Sadly the years of exposure to a functioning democracy has had no effect on our Professor; his brain is impermeable to reason and logic but superconductive to nonsensical Zanu PF propaganda.

It is the rampant corruption of Mugabe and Zanu PF that the nation should take seriously and not the US sanctions; the former is the real hyena killing our goats the latter is the mythic three headed hyena with eyes that can see through stone the regime was created fear and panic to divert our attention!

“God sent me for a purpose, to end these machinations and factional fights. I hear that some of you are giving money to women’s league chairpersons so that they will sabotage me when I take over. It will not happen and the day of reckoning is coming,” said Grace Mugabe.

This is blasphemy!

Zimbabwe Light said...

Grace began her speech by chanting the slogan: “Pamberi neOne Party State!”

“I warn you to stop it because you are playing with fire,” Grace said.

Mugabe bamboozled Tsvangirai into doing nothing about the reforms but if he or his naive wife thinks the reforms will never be implemented then they are fooling themselves. All the reforms will be implemented and she can forget the one-party state - it is as good as died!

No amount of threats is going to stop the implementation of the reforms! Zimbabwe is not going to be ruled by fear or the whim of a dictator but by law! After 34 years of absolute power there are many in Zanu PF who really believe that the party will rule until the donkeys grow horns, they are wrong! The Zanu PF dictatorship has run its course and now has reached the end of its road!

@ Rovambira

The $5 billion mega deals Mugabe signed with China and Russia are nowhere near the $27 bil-lion he was looking for. And none of the $5 billion is in budgetary support Mugabe is desperate for which is why the economic nose dive has continued.

There is no one else out there who is going to invest a dollar in Zimbabwe so you can wish for more mega deals all you want but that will not change the reality on the ground!

The Zimbabwe economy will continue to nose dive as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power that is the reality this nation will have to deal with. 2 million people are already living in abject poverty and that number is increasing at an alarming rate. The question is how long will this increase go on before change finally takes place?

Mugabe can save the nation from violent change by stepping down now. The longer Mugabe tries to hang on the more certain we can be that the change will be violent. A grim choice to a grim reality!

@ Chiedza Simbo

Madam you may have written a book but if what you have penned here is anything to go by then you book is about as insightful as Grace Mugabe's three months PhD!

"Even though the presidential race seemed to have touted candidates, Dr Grace loved power so much she could not delegate it even to other women. Zimbabwe just woke up and found her in power. What I saw Doctor Grace Mugabe doing was to love power so much that she had to learn the second lesson," you said.

Grace is finding herself in a powerful Zanu PF Women League chairperson position and may be catapulted to even greater heights not because she "loved" power, money and all the other things any more than other women out there. She is a woman of little intellect and will offer nothing of value to the nation other than deepen their suffering and despair.

She is in for a shout purely because the country is stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical political system were merit counts for nothing and the majority of the people have no say in who gets into power. We set out to establish one-man-one-vote little did we know that Mugabe turn it into one-vote-one-man and he is that one man.

Surely the country has better sense to know than to have one elected on the basis of his/her bedroom per-formance. The nations demands and deserves better than this!

Grace's meteoric rise into power is bottom power pure and simple and for anyone to see it as anything else is speaks volumes of the shallowness of the individual!!

Forty-seven percent of about 250 chief executive officers (CEOs) and financial managers surveyed (by CZI) warned of sustained recession in the next 12 months. Four percent of the respondents were confident of a rebound.

Mugabe and Zanu PF can pretend not to notice the economic meltdown but they cannot do so for much longer. 2 million people already live in abject poverty, the numbers are increasing every day; these people are not going to tolerate this situation for much longer that is for sure!

@ Pride Mkono
Let me say I agree with you that the only reason Grace is making all these political waves is because she is Mugabe’s wife. In a country that started with one-man-one-vote but has effectively ended with one-vote-one-man and that man is Mugabe getting that one vote is all that matters and she has secured that vote.
You can say all you like about “political experience is not sexually transmitted”. Grace is showing that in a corrupt and whopped political world of Zimbabwe it is.
“Politics is a game of experience and the longer one has it in the field the better their chances of success. Even more importantly, political experience cannot be borrowed; it is earned through vigorous political activity that one engages in,” you say. If this is you basis for saying Mai Mujuru will make a better president than Grace, then you have the wrong end of the stick. What has Mai Mujuru ever done of note in all her 34 years as deputy minister, minister and then VP other than joining everybody else in the corruption and loot?
One of the really damaging effects of the decades of Mugabe totalitarian autocracy is that is has left many people permanently damaged mentally. He conditioned the people to believe he was the only man capable of ruling the country even with growing mountain of evidence that he was leading the nation to ruin still people held on to this belief. Now in the twilight of his life the dictator has thrown in the box three possible names of candidates to replace him and we are all tripping over one another to select which of the three it should be.
Zimbabwe has a population of 12 million and given the healthy functional electoral system with free, fair and credible elections and none of the no regime change nonsense that have influenced all our elections for 34 years; the electorate will come up with a leader better able to take them out of the hell Mugabe has landed them in.
“In short, she (Grace Mugabe) is still too far from being comparable to the guerrilla fighter that is Joice Mujuru,” you say. S***t! The gorilla war is over; it has over for over 34 years now; why do we need a gorilla-fighter for? We an economy is a real mess and she played her role in getting us into this mess and she does have the foggiest idea what to do to get us out of it! Not a clue and yet someone thinks she is what the nation needed!

@ William Davison

“In South Sudan, a warring elite deaf to peace. After months of talks and countless calls to end fighting and prevent famine, leaders appear no closer to ending rift,” you said. How sad and yet how true!

Such has been the tragic story of Africa going back to the days of the slave trade; was it not the black leaders in the position to end this trade in human misery who hunted down their kith and kin and sold them for a piece of cloth and a handful of beads! This continues to this day, the ruling elite are at the front of the plunder of the continent’s mineral riches and wealth selling them for a song whilst their people suffer in abject poverty, despair and anguish!

When will it all end; do one dare ask!?

"Now is not the time to look to the west, east, north or south to solve our problems but we should turn to God and to ourselves and activate our mental faculties to solve our problems," Jabulani Sibanda said.
Mugabe's Zanu PF party has often touted its Look-East policy as the panacea to Zimbabwe's economic woes.
Well the country will not be looking to you, Mr Sibanda for you have do not even under-stand the nature of the country’s problems or their originals. If you did then you would shut up because you and your big mouth are part of the problem in that you have been propping up this corrupt, neurotic and murderous tyrannical regime.
We do not need to turn to God because this is a man-made problem, Mugabe and all his Zanu PF thugs including brainwashed idiots let you Sibanda are mere mortals; it is in the power of man to deal with his fellow mortals, at whilst they are still walking on this earth and have a backside to be kicked!
This Zanu PF regime has shed the blood of over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans, someone has to account for all those deaths here on earth!
What is the point of someone like evoking the name of God; He does not listen to murderers!
The economy is in meltdown and the only way out is for Mugabe and Zanu PF to step down or be forced out of office. Regime change the regime has been dreading is now upon us and so too is the day of reckoning. You reign of terror is over and now you have to account for the blood on your hands!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Dr Grace

The message of the economic meltdown is filtering through even the morons like Sibanda are finally get-ting the message. It has not yet sunk in that he is part of the problem and getting thrown in jail and hanged for all the misery he has caused and innocent blood he has shed is an integral part of the solution!

Patience the later will sink in too; there is no way out now!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ A slice

No Sibanda will have his day in court before taking his last breath with the hangman's rope round his neck for all the innocent blood he shed! If we are to send out the message that no one is above the law then we must be prepared to punish those who have placed themselves above it!

Hanging even a murderous rogue like Sibanda will not be pleasant work but if this is the only way to en-sure it will never happen again, and it is, then it must be done!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Lizard

Why is your hero in a panic now, he is even threatening the tyrant himself! The economic meltdown has spooked him too. A few nights on an empty stomach has opened his eyes the look East policy is not working!

You should not approach Sibanda with your usual stupid stories of sanctions, he might end up having you for breakfast! He is stupid but not that stupid not to know a pie in the sky story repeated to him a thousand times is a lie.

Zimbabwe Light said...

@Lizard

Regime change should have happened as far back as 2002 if it was not for MDC's breath-taking incompe-tence. The economic meltdown is the one driving the change this time; it is not open to bribes or the usual threats or even murders. Mugabe's degrees in violence have not helped him this time.

His mega deals lies have not delivered any economic recovery.

Even morons like Jabulani Sibanda can see writing on the wall REGIME CHANGE IS AS CERTAIN AS THE SUN RISING TOMORROW. You too will see it even with your eyes shut!

Zimbabwe Light said...

OF COURSE ZANU PF IS NOT FUNDING ANY OF HER EXPENSIVE CAMPAIGN RALLIES, PATRICK CHINAMASA AND THEREFORE THE TAXPAYERS ARE. THIS IS WHAT COMES OUT OF REGIME THAT IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO ANYONE ELSE BUT THOSE IN POWER. THIS IS WHAT COMES OUT OF THE IDEOLOGY OF "NO REGIME CHANGE"!

THE ONLY WAY TO END THIS NIGHTMARE IS TO IMPLEMENT THE REFORMS DESIGN TO DISMANTLE THE INSTITUTION PROMOTING THIS BANKRUPT, CORRUPTING AND RUINOUS IDEOLOGY. AS LONG AS MUGABE AND ZANU PF REMAIN IN POWER THIS COUNTRY IS GOING NOWHERE ELSE BUT DOWN!

“Our young boys and girls who went abroad are now experienced. They can take up these jobs. We have a lot of engineers and technicians … don’t bring a lot of Chinese workers,” said Minister Mavhaire.

Since when have beggars become choosers much less dictating the terms? The Chinese will take local staff and slap a 20% increase in price to more than make up for the wages paid to locals and the Minister will be none the wiser!

Zimbabwe is sick and tired of all this gimmick politics and grandstanding. If this regime is serious about stopping the plunder by the Chinese and other foreigner then this Chinese contract should have been opened to international competitive bidding and none of this mega deals signed behind closed doors!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Fish

I can see you are very generous accrediting these leaders with the ability to think! Someone who will sell their own kith and kin for a piece of calico cloth and a handful of beads in incapable of such a human attribute as thinking! Africa's curse is precisely that - to be led by morons whose brains are impermeable to reason and are devoid of common sense!

Zimbabwe Light said...

This is the classical fiddling whilst Rome burns. These Zanu PF morons are plotting who is going to take over after Mugabe oblivious of the fact that the nation is in ruins and sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss whilst they continue bickering. What does Grace know about the economic mess much less what to do to fit it?

By destroying the nation's economy, Mugabe has made Zanu PF unelectable and it this lot think they will be able to rig future elections as they have done in the past then they have something else coming! The years of rigged elections are over, all the democratic reforms agreed and should have been implemented during the GNU will ALL be implemented and there will be free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe.

“You need to know that faction leaders were appointed and you must not take that advantage to pursue personal interests and divide people.

“There are a lot of people who are able and have the capacity to take those positions and be warned that you will be left alone,” said Grace Mugabe.

How prophetic Madam, you are saying this to Mujuru today but tomorrow it will be you who will left high and dry after the tide of regime change, you have cheated, beaten, raped and even murdered to stop, finally sweeps the land! The economic meltdown, which you are ignoring, is the driving force of change in Zimbabwe today and you have nothing to stop it with.

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Cammille

Think big! Why are you confining yourself in the narrow box of Mujuru faction of a corrupt and murder-ous party plus the MDC factions who have already proven to be breathtakingly incompetent. Zimbabwe has 12 million people my friend; implement the democratic reforms so there will be free, fair and credible elections; and I will tell you now none of these idiots will hold any position of power.

Embrace democracy and let it work its magic! All we must do is ensure ALL the democratic reform those MDC idiots should have implemented during the GNU are implemented and we are home and dry! TRUST ME!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ big boss

Well our CIO friends have failed to rig economic recovery and nothing else matters because the economic meltdown has the regime in a grip-vice there is no escaping. All these meet-the-people rallies with bussed in supporters are only helping to sink the economy deeper and faster into the abyss. 2 million or 16 % of Zimbabweans are already living in abject poverty and with each day Mugabe and Zanu PF remains in office that number is increasing.

This charade of celebration rallies whilst the nation sinking into the abyss cannot go on for much longer!

@ Jukwa

What is tragic here is that there should blacks out who are asking the right of follow blacks to enjoy the most basic rights like the right to have a meaningful vote and even the right to life it-self. What makes it worse is those question are the ones in positions of power after the use of brute force to get it and therefore will disregard the arguments regardless of how well formu-lated and solidly presented they happen to be.

Blacks are the only race who have not been outraged by the fact that it was fellow blacks who hunted down their own kith and kin and sold them as slaves to the white slave traders. We are the only race who would sell their own mother for a price and be proud they had a mother to sell. Flag this to the blacks and you are likely to get two reactions violent denial of the facts of one who does not want to face unpleasant reality. Or unmoved indifference of it is all water off a duck's back!

It is now 34 years after independence and we are still arguing about whether or not the people should have free, fair and credible elections. Sorry correction many do not even know what free, fair and credible elections are. Even those who should know find it more convenient not to know and so they will argue we build our democracy on this false base, the undemocratic Copac constitution passed last year.

The white supremacists said blacks were incapable of self-government; we are incapable of self- criticism which is slightly different matter but with the same end result. Zimbabwe has become one such nation incapable of self-criticism and self-governing!

Zimbabwe Light said...

@ Zombo

What is frightening is if these thugs can do this to their own party members what is it they will not do to you, me and the ordinary Zimbabwean in the country's rural back waters. Fear has ruled Zanu PF and even greater fear has ruled the nation.

The nation had its best chance to end this Zanu PF dictatorship peaceful during the GNU if MDC had implemented the democratic reforms. Now it is going to be tough, the party is already itching for a fight!

GRACE ADDRESS A MOB OF 3 000 TO 4 000 IN GWANDA, A FAR CRY FROM THE EXPECTED 30 000!

MUGABE LIMITED THE CAMPAIGN PERIOD LAST YEAR TO JUST ONE MONTH BECAUSE HE KNEW IT IS HARD TO BUS IN SUPPORTERS TO RALLIES. GRACE’S COUNTRY WIDE RALLIES HAVE NEITHER THEME NOR PURPOSE. SHE HAS ALREADY BEEN ELECTED BY THE ZANU PF WOMEN LEAGUE SO WHAT WILL SHE GAIN FROM HOLDING THESE RALLIES? NOTHING! SHE IS HAVING THE RALLIES BECAUSE SHE HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO AND TO SHOW OFF THAT SHE HAS THE STATE’S RESOURCES INCLUDING POLICE, MINISTERS, PRESIDENTIAL HELICOPTER, ETC. TO HER BECKON AND CALL. BUT TO EXPECT THE PUBLIC, EVEN BUSSED IN SUPPORTERS, TO ATTEND THESE POINTLESS RALLIES IN THEIR THOUSANDS REGARDLESS IS A BIG ASK!

Zimbabwe Light said...

Grace has already won the Zanu PF Women's League top job; so what is the purpose of these rallies? She is holding them because she has nothing better to do and to show the nation that she is already as powerful as Robert Mugabe himself. She can commandeer state resources like the Police, Civil Servants, Senior Ministers, presidential helicopter, etc. The country has no money to ensure cities and towns across the land have running water but has millions to spend on these rallies!

Grace rally speeches have no structure or purpose or direction. One minute she is wittering about Zanu PF factional fights the next minute she talking about something else altogether.

The one thing Grace said in Gwanda is that Mugabe should "appoint a Vice President that works with him, not one who does nothing".There is no doubt who she was talking about nor is there any doubt who the suitable candidate to be appointed should be. Now she has tasted power, there will be no stopping her!

If only Tsvangirai and his MDC village idiots had implemented the reforms the nation would have been spare this living nightmare. The nation is literally dying for regime change but now it could take a long while yet before that happens. Meanwhile we will have a lot more utterly pointless rallies to pay for and no doubt soon people will be coerced to attend. Thanks for nothing Tsvangirai!
