Being vice-president is not about chillaxing
in the office and leaving President Robert Mugabe to shoulder alone the
responsibility of leading the country, the veteran leader’s wife said Monday
while addressing a rally in Matabeleland South.
It is no secret that VP Mujuru has done very
little in all her years in government. Her pathetic performance record is no
worse than that of many of her Zanu PF colleagues. Look at Simon Muzenda, John
Nkomo, Mnangagwa, Mutasa, etc. they all would have had Fs in everything year on
year for 34 years if anyone had bothered to grade their work. It is not that VP
Mujuru has been doing nothing that matters here but what the nation can expect
from VP Grace Mugabe and, more intriguingly, what are the ramifications of
Grace publicly denounce the chillaxing Mujuru!
Let us face it Mai Mujuru is as dim witted as they come; she has never come up with anything original or of any substance in all her 34 years in power. The only thing she and her late husband have been doing is loot. When it comes to looting anyone can walk onto someone's farm, for example, kick off the own and move in. All one needs to be a looter is to be greedy, have no sense of justice and contempt of the law and have the power to impose one's will.
The test if the looter has any brain is whether or not they are able to put any of the looted wealth and resource into productive use. God knows how many millions of dollars have been poured into farming to increase production but all to no effect.
The Mujurus are billionaires from the looted wealth but only because they kept looting to more than make up for all they wasted. None of all the mines, farms, business ventures they looted or started are a success. Not even one!
But to be fair to the Mujurus, the same can be said about all the other Zanu PF looters which is everyone.
Grace Mugabe has often given the impression that her Gushungo Dairy Business is a great success. What she has never said is how many billions of dollars have been poured into the business in the form of loans, none of them repaid, and in other indirect subsidies such as paying none of taxes everybody else pay. Include these things and the success story is seen for what it really is – a total disaster.
Grace wants the chillaxing Mai Mujuru replaced with none other than herself, of course. What is she offering?
When it comes to brains; she is just as dim witted as Mai Mujuru. There is very little brain activity in that fruitcake, capping her with a PhD and calling her Dr Grace will never change that basic reality!
As VP, Grace would commandeer state resources like Police, Civil Servants, Ministers, helicopters, etc. the same way she is doing right now with her meet-the-people rallies but with the added gravitas befitting her VP, Doctor and First Lady titles. She has not said anything of substance during these on-going country- wide rallies because there was never any purpose to holding these rallies in the first place.

The rallies are a foretaste of VP Grace
Mugabe's ethos - she has nothing to say but will go to great taxpayers’ expense
to say it! We have already forgotten what she said in Gwanda but the millions
wasted to host these rallies have dragged the whole nation even deeper into the
economic abyss adding to the nation’s mounting economic misery – no one will
forget that in a hurry.
Soon after independence Zimbabweans nicknamed Robert Mugabe the modern day Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese Explorer, the first European to reach India by sea. After two years in power, Mugabe had already travelled to every corner of the world.
"The only place Vasco da Gama has not been to is hell!" Zimbabweans commented, in sheer exasperation at all this waste of money on endless globe-trotting with nothing to show for it!
After 34 years Mugabe's appetite for globe-trotting has not abetted in anyway. Two years ago he travelled to Singapore alone eight times in one year and each trip costed the taxpayer US$3 million. The country’s economy has shrunk over the years but that has had no effect on his spending habits and extravagant tastes.
Mugabe has recently added a new dimension to his globe-trotting -begging. He was in China in August, his 13th trip to that country in his 34 years in power, begging the Chinese to bankroll his $27 billion ZimAsset economic recovery plan. The Chinese gave him $3 billion for specific projects but refused to give him a dollar in budgetary support because he is "a bad debtor" (不良债务人 in Chinese). They told him so to his face.
VP Grace Mugabe will definitely want to travel, she is shopaholic. We will now have two globe-trotters! We should just double our current president’s budget office allocation because we will a double the motorcade, double overseas trips, double everything. Indeed Grace is not wasting time in waiting for the official appointment and being sworn in as VP; she is VP already in all but name!

This is just another one of those Zanu PF schemes, when they are caught with their hands in the national cookie -jar then one of the regime's filthy rich cronies stepped up to claim that they are the ones bankrolling the activity. This is no different from those dodgy in-laws family members who one after the other give large sums of money as wedding presents all paid as cheques only to find later that none of the cheques are honoured.
THE MAYOR IS TALKING OF MEASURES TO ENSURE TATE PAYER PAY BUT HAS HE ANY PLANS TO ENSURE THE COUNCIL DELIVERS THE SERVICES THE RATE PAYERS ARE BILLED FOR?
THE SECOND POINT IS HE SATISFIED THAT MANY OF THOSE FAILING TO PAY ARE NOT DOING SO BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY? THE ECONOMIC MELTDOWN IS REAL AND IT IS AFFECTING REAL PEOPLE; 62% OF ZIMBABWEANS ARE POOR AND 16% OR 2 MILLION ARE LIVING IN ABJECT POVERTY. THERE IS NO POINT IN HARASSING AN IMPOVERISHED MAN TO PAY HIS BILL IF HE HAS NO MONEY.
ZIMBABWE'S COUNCIL ARE KNOWN FOR PAYING HIGH SALARIES TO SENIOR OFFICIALS AND FOR THEIR CORRUPTION AND INEFFICIENCY. HAS THE MAYOR DONE EVERYTHING TO ENSURE THE COUNCIL IS FIT FOR PURPOSE OR IS HE LIKE MINISTER CHINAMASA WHO ONLY THINKS OF HOW TO SQUEEZE EVEN MORE MONEY FROM THE PUBLIC REGARDS OF THE REALITY THAT THEY HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO GIVE UP!
Jonathan Moyo is doing his usual black is white propaganda here but no one will be fooled. Zimbabwe has only one VP and she is a 'do nothing' too. This is not even one of those 'enough said' (zvinomuto ndozvineyi!) situations; we all know it was Joice Mujuru she was talking about!
What is clear here is that Grace crossed the line; even RG Mugabe would not have said this but a Supremo President would. So the question here is RG Mugabe going to rein her in or has there been a palatial Blue Roof coup and Grace now rules the roost?
Moyo should not try to bluff this matter much less with stupid threats!
@ Clement Moyo
If you are serious about finding a way out of this mess then have to acknowledge that this is a man-made problem and we the electorate have played our role in making all this happen. We elected MDC on a ticket of bring democratic change, for example, but we clearly did not have a clue what those changes should have been. It so happened that MDC did not have a clue either because, let us face, we did not have any change last year. Mugabe went on to rig elections as he had done in the past.
We still do not have clue what changes we need to end this Zanu PF dictatorship otherwise we would not be following the same MDC idiots who do not know where they are going! All MDC want is a chance to get back on the gravy train; you do not need to be a rocket scientist to see that!
"We shouldn't give up though!" By following the same village idiots is proof that you have given up!
The fact still remains that MDC had the chance to end this Zanu PF dictatorship but failed to seize that once in a generation opportunity because the MDC leadership is breathtakingly incompetent. Your failure to comprehend this simple fact is sadly an indictment of your own serious mental inability.
Former US Ambassador Chris Dell called Tsvangirai a "flawed and indecisive leader" way back in 2004. Tsvangirai has since proven the Ambassador right beyond all doubt especially by failing to implement the critically important democratic reforms. So how is it possible that you can still fail to see this after all these years and mountain not evidence!
Zimbabwe is in this mess because we have voters who are brain-dead, that is nothing to be proud of!
@ Conrad Nyamutata
At the end of the day it is clear that Zanu PF supporters will have no democratic say, not that they have ever had any such say ever, in who what position Grace Mugabe takes and who will succeed Mugabe when the tyrant finally goes! What Zanu PF and Mugabe will have to remember is that people of Zimbabwe will FINALLY have their democratic say in who rules the country.
The economic meltdown is real and it is getting worse and will continue to do so as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in office. 62% of the people are poor with 16% or 2 million already living in abject pov-erty. Anyone who thinks this tragic situation can continue for much longer is naive. Even a hardened tyrant like Mugabe cannot ignore the tragic human misery going on here, especially when it has reached the inner core of his own Zanu PF party.
The late Enos Nkala and Nathan Shamuyarira, Zanu PF grandees lived the last decade of their lives in abject poverty and died paupers. Jabulani Sibanda, a hard-boiled-egg Mugabe thug has public criticized Mugabe's Look East policy in total disregard to the mega-deal contracts the tyrant signed with China and Russia because the economic prosperity promised by the policy has not materialized but poverty has.
You can convince a blind man there is no maize samp in his rice but not so with the chill in his relish. Abject poverty brought on by the economic meltdown is the extra hot chill, no amount of Look East Zanu PF propaganda can ever convince you are doing well you know you are not!
Like it or not, Mugabe and Zanu PF have to accept they cannot end the economic meltdown or they will be forced to. When they do, this nation will have its chance to ensure all the democratic reforms are implemented and then hold the free, fair and credible elections and thus giving the people their first democratic say in who governs the country.
Whatever RG Mugabe, Grace Mugabe and Zanu PF does at the party's December congress will matter not one iota as long as the nation's next elections are free, fair and credible! The people of Zimbabwe will have a final say who rules; I do not think it will be RG Mugabe, Grace or anyone from Zanu PF!
@ Oldlondonguy
You are right very fact that millions in Africa still have but a flickering lamp to light their night in this day and aged is the very embodiment of "the dark continent"!
I think acknowledging this is a start, a good start! Real progress start with having the confidence of admitting when one has made a mistake. As a black African I can honestly say getting my fellow black African to admit anything even with the evidence a mountain high has been a real frustrating battle. Sadly, I cannot even claim to have won even a few skirmishes! Still, I have not given up.
@ Masoja Ndini
The points here are:
1) we had chance to remove the so-called 800 lb gorilla once and once for all. All Tsvangirai had to do was implement the reforms; he had the majority in parliament and cabinet and five years to get this done. The idiot failed to get even one reform implemented. Not even one!
2) If MDC had implemented the reforms Mugabe would not have rigged the elections and the country will be busy rebuilding the nation and have hope in a better tomorrow.
3) MDC did not implement even one reform because they were corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. They still do not have a clue what to do to remove your 800 lb gorilla nor do the care; they are promising to do it because they know there naïve and gullible voters like you who will still believe them regardless of their past performance. They are promising to do it only to get back on the gravy train once on it they will forget the promise just as they did during the GNU.
4) If people like you were awake instead of being fast asleep then you would have seen that MDC was doing nothing to get rid of the gorilla. Tsvangirai was busy gallivanting round the world and chasing women of ill repute. When he got the $4 million Highland mansion bribe from Mugabe it was clear he was not going to upset the tyrant about the reforms.
5) Since the rigged July 2013 elections people like you have had the chance to reflect and realize that you had been naïve and gullible to have followed MDC blindly like sheep all these years. You have had a year for this basic truth to sink in; clearly it has not.
6) Zimbabwe is not going to get out of this hell as long as we have voters like you who simply refuse to see reason and will happily spend the rest of their lives with their heads buried in idiots like Tsvangirai’s backside.
7) In the interest of getting this country out of this mess it has become incumbent on those who see Tsvangirai for the blundering village idiot he has already proven to be beyond doubt to kick all those trailing the idiot with their heads in his a***. You have a simple choice take a breath of fresh air or have you’re a** kicked until you do!
“Right now we don't give a care about what you're wanting us to focus on,” you say? We will see about that; keep writing this kind of nonsense and you will have you’re a*** kicked; that is my promise to you!
@ Tawanda Manjoni
I agree, Mugabe is killing this nation but what he has failed to realise himself is that he was killing those around him too and thus ultimately killing himself too. Decades of corruption have left millions of Zimbabweans poor and without hope but amongst them his own party grandees like the late Enos Nkala and Nathan Shamuyarira. Even hard-boiled eggs like Jabulani Sibanda have not escaped poverty; the thug was complaining that the Look East policies have not worked. A few nights of going to bed in an empty stomach has opened the murderous thug's eyes!
The Zanu PF infighting is to be expected, the members are desperate to hang on to power in the hope to escape poverty. They have all seen people like Shamuyarira and just how poor he was, no wonder this has been a fight to the death because losing power now it slow death by starvation!
Whoever survives after the Zanu PF congress will have to face fresh free, fair and credible elections which we all know Zanu PF will never ever win. Free elections will free the nation of the Mugabe/Zanu PF albatross!
A huge fire has broken at ZESA’s Harare Power Station.
It never rains but pours. The fire could have been prevented if ZESA had carried out a host of things, if the Fire Brigade has carried out a host of things too, etc. This is what comes out of years of not doing the right things
@ Masoja Ndini
I thought you agreed with Luke that the national consensus was to remove the 800 lb gorilla; the ugly beast is still there and causing untold harm and misery and yet you want to move on! How do you expect the 62% who are poor and 16% or 2 million now living in abject poverty to move on?
The human brain is the most complex, powerful and amazing organ the world will ever see. But like all such things it is of very little use if left idle and absolutely useless if dead. By having your head stuck in Tsvangirai’s backside all the time, you are depriving your brain of oxygen and therefore the energy to function at anywhere near its optimum level. One minute you are rightly talking of getting rid of the Zanu PF dictatorship, which is these MDC village idiots had the chance to do just that but failed to do so. Then the next minute you are talking of moving on as if we could with this dictatorship suffocating the very life out of the nation; proof that you are confused and need oxygen!
You are in luck my confused friend; I will kick your backside, until it is raw if necessary, just to force you to take out your head from Tsvangirai’s backside and take a breath of fresh air. Zimbabwe is going to get rid of that 800 lb gorilla but cannot do so when half the voters have their brains half-dead. We have to put that right first and will!
Professor Moyo should just make public all the details relating to Grace's PhD, when she enrolled, where and when she did her first degree, etc. It is not the first time that tyrants or their wives or relatives have been awarded academic achievements and other accolades they did not deserve. Why is Professor Moyo talking as if it is absurd that such a thing could happen here.
Have the Mugabes not held a $1 million birthday party followed by a $5 million wedding at a time when 100 children are dying everyday country wide of preventable diseases? Indeed things would be a lot worse if donors have not been buying 98% of the nation's medicines already.
There is controversy with Grace Mugabe's PhD was not "created by ignorant people" as professor Moyo tells us but by the lack of transparency is how she got it as is the case with a host of other things this regime does!

The controversy will be settled by a thorough investigation after regime change. There is nothing done under the cover of darkness that will not be uncovered in the light of day for the whole world to see!
@ Vince Musewe
I agree with you that Zanu PF leaders have been too timid to stand up to Mugabe all these years but if you think Grace will be any better then you are wrong.
She has able to do what she is doing not because she is more courageous than anyone else but because she was luck to be on the blind-spot of the tyrant. She has no faction of her own and she needed him to get anywhere and he needed someone how needs him and therefore is therefore less likely to sell him out under pressure. Even with the Mnangagwa faction backing her Grace knows she will never be one of them, they are using her to stop Mujuru faction getting power. If she is shrewd or if Mugabe is around when and if she gets power (a lot of ifs) then he will certainly advise her to set up another faction(s) to counter Mnangagwa faction a.s.a.p.
Grace is nothing but another tyrant in the making.
On the economic front she will not seize any more farms only because there are no white owned farms left to seize! The Zimbabwe economy is in serious trouble but that is not going to stop President Grace Mugabe spending money as if there is no tomorrow on luxuries and grand projects more to bolster her ego than to meet the nation's needs and interests.
The country's economic meltdown should ordinarily force Zanu PF to accept they have failed but after waiting for power all these years the Zanu PF factions will not want to give up power now when they can smell it. So Zanu PF may implode but that will not necessarily mark the end of Zanu PF because the winning faction will be more determined than ever to exercise power as a while at least! No we are not out of the woods; not yet!
@ Mdhala Lunga
Good try but I do not think Mai Mujuru will derive much solace in this; she knows that she is no longer the front runner, she is now the buttocks!
@ Tekira
Since when has Zanu PF ever held free and fair elections? What is interesting here is that for once Mai Mujuru would fight to have free and fair elections when a year ago she turned a blind eye to vote rigging at a massive scale. Zimbabweans must be wary of leaders like that. No one in Zanu PF is worthy sup-porting regardless of whether they happen to be the underdog this time and are getting a taste of some of their own medicine they have dished out so freely to others for decades!
It this dog fight should end with all the Zanu PF thugs died; that would be great for Zimbabwe!
