Mugabe a master of divide and rule has already divided the Mnangagwa faction!

Do you what the biggest killer amongst the hyenas is? It is not predation as no lion, the hyenas’ arch-enemy, will ever go out hunting for hyena. The odd occasion the lion does kill a hyena it will not eat it; another hyena will feast on the carcass, hyenas eat everything with flesh. It you ever see a lion eating a hyena you can be sure of one thing it is half-blind with hunger otherwise one look at that ugly face is enough to make the lion lose its appetite.

The only two other animals that will eat the hyena are vultures and the crocodile, like the hyena they too will eat anything. When these three see food; all their other sense, sight, smell, taste, etc., are supressed the stomach rules. Still neither vultures nor crocodile ever go out hunting hyenas.

The greatest killer of hyenas is stress, yes stress! There is not a moment of peace in the hyena clan; they are always fighting, if it is not for one dozen reasons it for two or three dozen other reasons. Zanu PF is a clan of hyenas in every sense of the word!

Zanu PF has just savagely expelled Mai Mujuru and her supporters, the purge is still unfinished business, and yet already there are reports that those united to ouster Mai Mujuru are now at each other’s throat.

Sources close to the developments said a "gang of four" comprising Information minister Jonathan Moyo , Environment minister Saviour Kasukuwere, Higher and Tertiary Education minister Oppah Muchinguri and Mugabe's nephew Patrick Zhuwao had reportedly turned their swords against the freshly-minted acting president.

The four, who played a crucial role in the ouster of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru, are now reportedly accusing Mnangagwa of letting them down by giving them less influential party and Cabinet positions.

Patrick Zhuwao is nothing but a Grace Mugabe proxy in the gang of four and her claim to the spoils of power is that it was her ruthless – the more so since it was unprovoked – attach on Mai Mujuru that saw the former VP dumped. When Grace announced that she wanted to be president, she was deadly serious and has not given up on that idea.

What makes this a typical hyena fight in it being senseless and futile is the gang of four are after Mnangagwa and not Mugabe. It is the tyrant Mugabe who appointed all the members of the politburo and cabinet; if Mnangagwa was consulted, which I doubt, then rest assured his advice was ignored. So why is the gang attaching Mnangagwa on matters over which he had no control; it does not make any sense. The gang is picking on Mnangagwa, the dragon fly, and not Mugabe, the wasp that stung them; that makes a lot sense in the hyena’s world.

Mugabe has kept his position as leader of Zanu PF by playing the divide and rule game. Admittedly it is easy to divide those who are divided to their subatomic level by their mutual greed, loathing, envy and the contemptuous disregard of the law. After destroying the Mujuru faction Mugabe needed to quickly create another faction to counter the Mnangagwa faction which was emerging victorious out of this factional war.

Up to now Jonathan Moyo and Oppar Muchinguri were in the Mnangagwa camp but not anymore. So Mugabe has created a new faction to counter Mnangagwa faction by splitting the Mnangagwa faction itself.

Following the pressure by the Chinese to promote Mnangagwa, Mugabe had no choice but to appoint him VP. He has deliberately demoted the gang of four, in a clear message that if they wanted power, they will have to fight Mnangagwa first. Hunting dogs hunt best when they are hungry and the lead dog, Grace Mugabe, has tasted blood, power, at its sweetest she is obsessed.

When Grace announced that she wanted to be president many dismissed it as a sick joke; she was serious, deadly serious. And now there is no stopping her in a quest to be president.

Professor Jonathan Moyo went out of his way to emphasise that the appointment of Mnangagwa as the first Vice President did not mean he was the one to succeed Mugabe. The public announcement must have been made with Robert Mugabe’s full knowledge if not at his instigation; he wanted the gang of four to know that there was a lot still left for them to be fighting for.

Mnangagwa cannot claim to have been popularly elected by anyone since Zanu PF’s own electoral process was rigged and so the gang of four feel they too are entitled to as much power as Mnangagwa got; this is what comes of lawlessness.

“At the weekend, a shadowy character Bishop Lazarus attacked Mnangagwa for holding business meetings at his Kwekwe farm and insinuated that he was plotting against Mugabe,” reported the Southern Eye. We have not heard the first chapter of the Mujuru plot against Mugabe and already there is yet another plot against the tyrant!

Hyenas have to sleep with one eye open and one ear alert even when they are surrounded by other hyenas from their own clan. After decades in Zanu PF one would think someone like Mnangagwa is used to the mindless infighting in Zanu PF; sadly no, stress is like a headache you never get used to it

@ Ncube

MDC-T, MDC, MDC-Renewal, MDC 99 UMDC, etc. they have different names but they are otherwise one and the same thing - all corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent!

300 000 or 80% of the children who should be going to school are not; what kind of voters will they make? They will certainly not be voters who will listen to reason. The current voters had the best education but have been too lazy to apply themselves and so have blindly followed whatever leader is put before them be he tyrant or a village idiot. The next generation will too blindly follow whatever leader is put before them but at least they will have the excuse that they were denied the education to know any better.

For the last 34 years Zimbabweans have comforted themselves with the thought that changes was just rough the corner. They have carried the thought like child addicted to its swaddling pillow confident they have done all they needed to do bring about the change – think about it. Not that they had serious thought through what changes they wanted as became evident during the GNU when the nation had the chance to implement the democratic changes. MDC-T and MDC-M initially and then MDC-N failed to implement even one reform and the voter failed to pick on this because they had talked about change but only in vague terms.

It is not enough to think about change but only in vague terms. If they ever thought about changes serious then acting on those changes will follow as a logical step.

People have often wondered why Zimbabweans have not protested at the nauseating unemployment rates of 90% plus, for example. They have not really thought about the problem. The few occasions they have taken action without thinking through first they have ended up where they started or worse. Zimbabweans are good at taking one step forward and five or ten steps back and then make a big song and dance about the single step forward!

Mugabe, Mnangagwa, Grace Mugabe and the so-called G4 worked together to elbow former VP Mujuru out of power but destroying the Mujuru faction created a problem for Mugabe in that there was only one faction left, the Mnangagwa faction. Mugabe has always secured his hold on power by promoting simpleton like VP Mujuru and the late VP Simon Muzenda to be the de facto head of a faction to counter and neutralize the real challengers to his rule like the late Edson Zvobgo. He need to create another faction quick smart to counter and neutralize Mnangagwa. Dividing the Mnangagwa faction itself was a stroke of genius.

There is no doubt that it was Mugabe himself who has made his wife, Grace, believe she can be president. The G4 members were roped in give their full backing to Grace for president cause on the understanding there was more than an outside chance of this happening. Mugabe has deliberately disappointed them in the recent promotion and may even have told them that it was Mnangagwa’s wish to drive the wedge between them and Mnangagwa.

So now the G4’s political fortunes will only improve if Grace becomes president or at least secures an influential position in the Mnangagwa government; if she falls so will they!

@Black

The economic meltdown will stop Mnangagwa dead on his feet! The economic situation in Zim-babwe cannot continue and yet as long as Zanu PF remain in power it will only get worse be-cause Mnangagwa does not have a clue what to do.

As for Zimbabwe become a prosperous nation again that is easier said than done given the fact that the country's infrastructure is in a mess, we are up to our eyes in debt, the nation's treasures have already been sold to foreigners for a song, etc. and, worse of all, we have knack for electing tyrants and/or village idiots!

"NEW vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa is a hard worker who will turn the fortunes of the country around if given the chance, former Midlands Governor Cephas Msipa has claimed."

Mnangagwa's greatest problem was never one of whether or not he would work hard but rather that he is ILLEGITIMATE. Mugabe and Zanu PF rigged the July 2013 elections and by so doing lost the trust and confidence of the donor and investors alike and hence the reason why Zimbabwe has failed to attract any funding/ loans and inward investment. The only way to achieve and economic recovery, contrary to what Msipa thinks, is for Mnangagwa and Zanu PF to step down. And like it or not they will step down.

Zimbabwe has sunk to these nauseating depths of political and economic chaos because for 34 years they have done nothing to stop the slide into the abyss; they always felt they did not need to do anything as positive change was just round the corner.

They could never say explicitly what the change or the reasons why they believe it will be positive. The same unfounded optimism is being expressed by Ibbo Mandaza here.

The truth is this wishful thinking in fact stopped the nation taking the necessary action to stop the slide and it is doing the same again now. If we want change then we must work for it and not wish for it whilst waiting for the death of an old man. Life does not wait for no one or, in this case, for the death of no one!

Every thinking and freedom loving Zimbabwean will join in condemning this latest affront on freedom of expression and our fight to end this oppressive and tyrannical Zanu PF autocracy.

How ironic that when the Zanu PF regime violently and unjustly shut down the Daily News in September 2003 Mai Mujuru was a senior cabinet member and was appointed VP the following year and yet she has never lifted a finger to secure free press and freedom of expression or end many of the regime’s repressive practices. Never, not once!

How ironic that Ms Dongo was herself a member of the rightly feared and loathed CIO and God only knows what harassment, intimidation and murders she carried out in her time.

We need to break this cycle of leaders who promise to end the oppression whilst they seek public votes but only to forget their promises as soon as they are elected to office!
