Yesterday it was Tsvangirai who was battering MDC-Renewal by
insisting on recalling all their MPs and Senators. Well Gugugu Magorira in
Zvishavane has taken of the boxing gloves and is hitting back with all has got
– no holds barred.
Gugugu was very bitter that Tsvangirai was recalling the
MDC-Renewal politicians.
“This is not different from a snake that bites what it does not
eat. What is now clear is that Morgan
Tsvangirai and his overzealous secretary general Douglas Mwonzora want to
donate the seats to Zanu-PF,” retorted Gugugu with the bitterness of one who
has been bitten by the snake and can already start to feel the poison racing in
their body.
MDC –Renewal did not contest the upcoming by-elections,
ostensibly to pressure Zanu PF to implement reforms to ensure free and fair
elections although it is no secret that the party is broke. However if the
recall goes ahead the party would be damned not to try to win back these seats
even if that will mean doing a cartwheel and landing on their face on
implementing reforms demands. Whatever they do now, MDC-Renewal, are in for a
rough ride!
“We are seeing a better Zimbabwe coming as a result of Renewal
and mdc alliance which is putting national interests ahead of everything,”
commented our MDC-renewal member in Zvishavane. This is just a bit of
theatrical posturing before taking the knock-out punch, nothing more!
Both MDC-T and MDC – Renewal have both failed to make any
meaningful comeback since the July 2013 rigged elections and the genesis of
their demise can be traced back to the GNU!
Mugabe and Zanu PF were able to blatantly rig the July 2013
elections because not even one of the democratic reforms agreed in the GPA in
2008 were ever implemented. Not one! The MDC supporters are not the cleverest
people on earth; they really did not see the vote rigging coming, for a start.
They believed that the July 2013 elections would be free and
fair because Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, David Coltart and
all the other MDC leaders promised they would be without even looking at the
evidence on the ground for themselves. With not even one democratic reform
implemented it was naïve to think the elections would not be rigged.
Still the people were shocked and confused to see Mugabe romp
home with a landslide election victory. At the time the supporters had accepted
that Mugabe had cheated and that was that but since then they have asked why it
had been so easy, child’s play really, for him to cheat.
Slowly but surely many Zimbabweans have come to the realization
that Mugabe rigged the elections with the greatest of ease because not even one
of the democratic reforms agreed at the GPA as necessary for free and fair
elections had been implemented. MDC had the majority in parliament, the backing
of SADC and five years of the GNU to implement the reforms but failed to do so.
The only logical reasons why not even one reform was implemented
was that the MDC leaders were and still are corrupt – there is no doubt Mugabe
bribed them with the gravy train lifestyles and for Tsvangirai the Highlands
mansion to forget about the reforms – and breathtakingly incompetent – SADC and
donors begged MDC to implement the reforms and not to take part in the
elections with no reforms but they paid no heed. As the penny has dropped with
each MDC supporter of the betrayal of course they have cursed the MDC
leadership.
Yes Tsvangirai and his MDC-T faction has been losing support but
so too has UMDC because during the GNU the leaders of all these MDC factions
had taken their share of the gravy train bribe as prime minister, deputy prime
minister, minister, deputy minister, etc. Many of them were ministers of
nothing really as these were superfluous positions created to accommodate as
many individuals as possible on the gravy train.
People like Simba Makoni and Dumiso Dabengwa have found it very
difficult to re-launch their political careers after they left Zanu PF. They
worked for decades with Mugabe to establish the Zanu PF dictatorship and never
once raised their voices against all the corruption and human rights violations
perpetrated by the regime. It was only when Mugabe failed to promote them that
they finally left Zanu PF and suddenly they would not shut up about evil things
Zanu PF was doing.
They were talking of Zanu PF corruption, etc. to be noticed and
win votes to get back on the gravy train; they never cared about these things
before or the suffering and deaths they brought to the nation. The Zimbabwe
electorate was smart and refused to be taken for a ride again by these
political turncoats.
Now it is the turn of the MDC leaders to learn that there is a
price to be paid for being corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. They have
all tried to gloss over their betrayal of the people by failing to implement
the reforms hoping the matter will go away but like squeezing acne on a
teenager’s face, it only makes it swell up and sore!
After the rigged 31 July 2013 elections Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai
Biti and the rest of the MDC leaders should have immediately apologized to the
nation for selling them to the tyrant for a piece of calico cloth and handful
of beads and then they should have resigned on mass from politics.
There is nothing the people can do to force them to apologize
but they can see to it that corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent individuals
never again hold public office by denying them the political support and vote!
“The recent MDC-T rally in Highfield shows that Morgan Tsvangirai
has lost a number of his supporters,” wrote Gugugu.
“That was not a huge crowd at all as compared to previous gatherings where thousands used to flock to the same venue for Tsvangirai. Whoever is or has plans to finance Morgan Tsvangirai projects is a great dreamer.
“ . . . . . Sing, ululate and dance for Morgan Tsvangirai but nothing will come out of him. The man will never rule Zimbabwe today or later.”

This is the route the nation has tried so hard and for so long to avoid but the total indifference of this corrupt and oppressive regime to the needs, suffering and hopelessness and despair of millions of the people have left this nation with no other route but one of direct confrontation.
One hopes that Mugabe will take this as the shot across the bowel and now accept that it is the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans who have been demanding regime change all along and not the “evil West”! He must end his stubborn intransigence now before the rioting spread across the land.
Mugabe’s ZimAsset economic recovery plan is dead in the water because he failed to get any-one to bankroll such a wasteful and ill-conceived plan. He has nothing to offer to end the eco-nomic meltdown that is behind the University students and staff protests. He must now step down now or he will be forced out of office Muammar Gaddafi style.
Jacob Mudenda, Speaker of the House of Parliament has declared MDC-Renewal seats vacant.
Even if it was not for the MDC factions already having said they will boycott elections, they broke to finance any by elections. These are seats the opposition is giving to Zanu PF!

I agree one need to explain things to these people but it helps if the people themselves have an open mind and are receptive to reason. Sadly many Zimbabweans are like a hermetically seal can nothing goes in and nothing comes out. They are hard wired to follow blindly whoever is presented to them as a leader even if he is a village idiot, that is what makes our situation so frustrating.
