Mashonaland West provincial chairman, Mr Takesure Musiiwa accuse MDC-T of insincerity
in boycotting elections and demanding so-called electoral reforms now when the
party co-authored the new Constitution.
"It is strange that MDC-T says they will not participate in elections until there are reforms when they participated in the process that brought about the Constitution," he said.
"The same people convinced Zimbabweans to vote "Yes" and now they say they cannot participate in elections until there are reforms."
Mr Musiiwa said MDC-T got into a "comfort zone" when they entered into the inclusive Government.
Of course
MDC-T were not sincere when they repeated assured the nation that the Copac constitution
was a democratic one and that it would delivery free and fair elections. We all
know that it is a weak and feeble constitution and that it failed to deliver
free, fair and credible elections.
Mr Musiiwa is
right to say MDC leaders were in their “comfort zone” during the GNU; they were
so comfortable they forgot they were in the GNU, above all else, to implement
the democratic reforms and draft a new democratic constitution. Indeed Mr
Musiiwa is being very diplomatic; others like Mukanya Thomas Mapfumo was a lot
more direct and accused MDC leaders of “selling-out”.
We have to accept
that the Copac constitution is a weak and feeble constitution, accept that raft
of democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 GPA were not implemented, accept that
the July 2013 elections were a mockery of what free, fair and credible
elections should be and, most important of, accept that there will never be
free and fair elections until we have a democratic constitution and have implemented
all the reforms. We have to accept these because they are historic facts and
realities.
If we accept
that the Copac constitution is weak and feeble and all the other facts and
realities above, surely it follows as day follows night that taking part in an
elections process without a democratic constitution and no reforms is futile
because those elections will be rigged guaranteed!
MDC-T,
MDC-Renewal and MDC (Ncube) were not sincere in assuring the nation the July
2013 elections would be free and fair but they are being sincere now in calling
for elections boycott until the necessary measures are taken to ensure the elections
are free and fair.
Last month
MDC-T produced a list of eight electoral demands they want Zanu PF to implement
before they will call-off the elections boycott. The list is a watered down
version of the original GPA list of reforms; MDC-T is once again not being
sincere in assuring the nation that the implementation of its wishy-washy
reforms would deliver free and fair elections.
MDC leaders
are corrupt and incompetent, it is naïve to expect such individual to be sincere
and honest about anything they say or do. MDC leaders betrayed the nation in
failing to get even one democratic reform implemented throughout their five
years in the GNU. They sold-out!
The one thing
the nation can count on Tsvangirai, Biti, Ncube and the rest of the MDC leaders
to do, given half the chance, is to sell-out again! So if the people of
Zimbabwe elect MDC back into power again then one can only say the nation
sincerely deserve to suffer!
