“Following my deliberate and conscious decision to open up the
democratic space and emphatic call for peace, unity and tolerance of divergent
views amongst our people; political contestations, election campaigning, voting
and counting processes were conducted freely, peacefully and transparently,”
said Mnangagwa.
That is rich coming from the man everyone knows was responsible
closing the democratic space throughout the 37 years of Mugabe tyrannical rule.
Mnangagwa may not have been the one who hatched all the diabolic vote rigging
schemes and the wanton violence of harassment, beating, rape and even cold
blooded murders that have become the hallmarks of the Zanu PF reign of terror but
there is no disputing that he carried out most of these activities with the
ruthless efficiencies of a crocodile!
Mnangagwa’s hands are red with the blood of the many innocent
Zimbabweans the regime has murdered these last 38 years. After Mugabe himself,
Mnangagwa is the next person in line to take the blame for the suffering,
deaths and criminal waste of resources in Zimbabwe.
Yes Mnangagwa took his heavy foot off the wanton violence pedal
during the election period but only because the regime had other less violent
ways of securing the landslide electoral victory. It was very quick off the
mark on the 1st August to snuff out all dissent against the rigged
elections when the regime gave out the order of “shoot to kill” the street
protestors. He wanted everyone to remember that his regime’s thirst for
shedding innocent blood in pursuit of maintaining its iron grip on absolute
power was unquenchable.
“My deliberate and conscious decision to open up the democratic
space!” No doubt, Mnangagwa expects us all to grovel in the dirty to show our
appreciation of his generosity.
The very fact that he deliberately and consciously denied 2 to 3
million Zimbabweans in the diaspora a vote, deliberately and consciously saw to
it that no verified voters’ roll was released thus opening up the door to all
manner of vote rigging, etc. is not important to Mnangagwa. No doubt, after
taking his foot off the violence; he is entitled to use all other vote rigging
shenanigans there are out there!
President Mnangagwa used his 37 years vote rigging experience to
blatantly rig the 30th July 2018 elections. He and his regime are, per
se, illegitimate. The biggest mistake the nation has made repeatedly over the
years was to allow Zanu PF to get away with vote rigging. If we allow this Zanu
PF junta to remain in power and manage the next elections in 2023 then we can
be certain one thing Zanu PF will rig the elections and consider ourselves
lucky if the regime keeps its heavy foot off the violence pedal!
By right, President Mnangagwa and many of the Zanu PF
dictatorship members should be in jail for all the suffering and deaths they
have brought to this nation because of their “deliberate and conscious decision
to CLOSE up the democratic space” in Zimbabwe! If there is justice in this
world, then these Zanu PF thugs must answer for the over 30 000, included 7
shot dead just last month, innocent Zimbabweans murdered to establish and retain
the de facto one-party dictatorship this nation has been under for 38 years and
counting.

I agree, the sheer naivety of our leaders and the whole plane load of hangers-on who follow them like the planet Saturn and her many moons is shocking.
"Following my deliberate and conscious decision to open up the democratic space and emphatic call for peace, unity and tolerance of divergent views amongst our people; political contestations, election campaigning, voting and counting processes were conducted freely, peacefully and transparently," said Mnangagwa from the world's greatest stage!
He expected the whole world to give him a standing ovation for making what to Mnangagwa was clearly a momentous and monumental decision to open up the democratic space. He expected the applaud, whistling and stamping of feet to reach deafening decibels when people heard this was a "deliberate and conscious decision" - it does get any sweeter and more noble than this!
None of his equal brain-dead hangers-on could tell Mnangagwa he was at the UN where the right to democratic space is consider an inalienable right of every human being. You should not be expected anyone to praise you for opening up the democratic space because it is your duty to every citizen to do so; you are not doing the citizens any special favours. You have a case to answer for when you deny the people the democratic space!
Frankly, I think Mnangagwa will ever understand that he did anything wrong in denying the 2 to 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora a vote, ensure there was no free public media, refuse to release a verified voters' roll, etc. He kept his Zanu PF thugs on the leash and to ask him to do more than this is simply asking too much from him!
If we are serious about having free, fair and credible elections then we must pressure Mnangagwa and the junta to step down because as long as they remain in power and control of the electoral process they will never ever implement the democratic reforms and deliver free, fair and credible elections! Never ever!

"Dear Garikai, MDC-Alliance is not a better alternative to Zanu-PF. We shall be worse off with Chamisa as President. Please understand this much, we women of Zimbabwe we are indeed happy that Chamisa is not President. God heard our players," you say.
Given that Chamisa and his MDC Alliance friends have already proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs. Only someone who is brain-dead would agree to participate in an elections in which the other contestant control every aspect of the election process and they refuse to release a verified voters' roll! As we know that is exactly what Chamisa and his friends agreed to do!
Still, one cannot hide the fact that President Mnangagwa and his junta are the party that has dragged the nation into this hell-on-earth and worse still they clearly have no clue how to get the nation out of the mess. Mnangagwa and the junta are corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs whose number one priority is to retain power at all cost.
If the 30 July 2018 elections were free, fair and credible and Mnangagwa had won, I will join you in saying your prayer was heard. The truth Mnangagwa blatantly rigged the elections and that is the matter that should concern every one of us including those who voted for Mnangagwa.
The choice between Chamisa and Mnangagwa is no choice at all; both have already shown that they have no clue what to do to move the country forward! It is like being asked to choose between have your leg or hand cut off! What the country needs is to implement the democratic reform, allow freedom of expression, free flow of ideas and democratic competition. This will allow new players to join the political race and give the voters the opportunity to separate the quality grain from the chuff and rotten stuff.
Both Zanu PF and MDC guys do not want any meaningful democratic reforms to be implemented because they all know, given their rotten track records, they will never win the next free, fair and credible elections. You need to think outside the box, cast your net wider and beyond the confines of Zanu PF or MDC!
"He (Mnangagwa) explained that it will be achieved through steps taken to improve liquidity, make foreign currency more available, enhance his country's investment appeal, reduce the national budget deficit, ensure the growth of all economic sectors, and institute currency reforms."
This is just a wish list! I am surprised the next line was not, "And we all lived happily ever after!"
In a few weeks' time it will be a year since Mnangagwa seized power and started singing "Zimbabwe is open for business!" Yet nothing has changed, the much hoped for economic recovery still remains a mirage.
The economic situation on the ground has got worse not better, the price of basic goods has been going up and/or there are shortages. People were queueing at the bank for US$50 maximum a day a year ago, today they are still queueing US$20 maximum paid in Bond coins which are worth US$10 or less on the black market.
By rigging the recent elections President Mnangagwa achieved his one cherished goal of making sure Zanu PF has an iron grip on political power. "Zanu PF ichatinga! Igotonga!" (Zanu PF will rule! And rule!) and he has said so many times.
The price of rigging the elections was that he confirmed that Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by vote rigging thugs! Investors and lenders do not like to do business with thugs and have shied away from Zimbabwe.
The British were the one western nation that had kept faith with this Zanu PF junta since last November's coup; they had hope that the regime would embrace some democratic values and at least hold free, fair and credible elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections; the regime did not even have the decency to release a verified voters' roll. How the regime ever imagined it could still claim the elections were free and fair when it could not even produce a voters' roll beggars belief!
"This is my final departure call and I am happy to say we had a useful discussion reflecting on the last four years and changes that we have seen; many positive changes but, still some huge challenges ahead," said the outgoing UK Ambassador Catriona Laing, taking of her farewell discussion with acting President Kembo Mohadi.
"We talked about the elections and the positive steps around peaceful elections and very high turnout but, also some concerns that the playing field was not completely level."
She did not have say but anyone with any brain knows that Zimbabwe has just kissed goodbye to all hopes of meaningful economic recovery. The challenge before us now is how to force this Zanu PF junta to step down; the regime will fight tooth and nail to hang on to power, just as Mugabe had done, regardless how much suffering and deaths the ordinary people face.
