"Business is not settled because elections were rigged" says Chamisa - true, you made it easy to rig

There three things one could have predicted with 100% certainty six months ago:

1)    That Nelson Chamisa and his MDC Alliance will take part in this year’s elections even though there was still not even one reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections in place.

2)    That Zanu PF will blatantly rig the elections, again, and confirm Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by vote rigging thugs.

3)    That the much hoped for economic recovery will never happen because investors do not do business in pariah state.

All three predictions have come to pass.

What anyone in the know would find infuriating here is that Zimbabwe would not be in this political and economic mess if Nelson Chamisa and his MDC friends had implemented the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the GNU. SADC wanted the July 2013 elections to be postponed until the reforms were implemented

“If you go into next month’s elections, you will lose; the elections are done!” SADC leaders had warned Tsvangirai and his MDC friends. Tsvangirai et al paid no heed. Greed had the better of them, as David Coltart, MDC senator and cabinet minister during the GNU readily admitted in his book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” wrote Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

The economy’s reaction to another Zanu PF rigged 2013 elections was predictable, Zimbabwe’s Stock Exchange shares slumped by 35% in the first week of the election results and the economic meltdown, which was already in a sorry state, continued in its downward spiral forcing unemployment to soar to 90% plus.

So one can well imagine the sheer frustration at Nelson Chamisa and his MDC Alliance friends’ insistence on participating in this year’s elections knowing fully well that not even one reform had been implemented since the July 2013 rigged elections. Once again, greed ruled the roost! They did not even have the common sense to demand of ZEC a clean and verified voters’ roll for Pete’s sake.

Of course, President Mnangagwa and his junta blatantly rigged the elections and, as expected, once again as expected the economy has taken another knock!

It is laughable that Nelson Chamisa should focus on the rigged elections and the loss of confidence in the economic, predictions 2) and 3) above, as proof of his own popularity; forgetting his own role in creating the mess, prediction 1).

“But as both a leader and citizen, I am deeply concerned by the level of suffering of Zimbabweans. There is violence in the minds of people due to the painful challenges they are facing everyday under Mnangagwa’s controversial leadership,” he told NewsDay.

“The economy is freezing and even fuel is in short supply. What is more in short supply is market confidence. Business is not settled because elections were tampered with. You can change statistics of elections, but you cannot tamper with figures in economics.”

No, pompous one, the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and political paralysis goes much deeper than this year’s rigged elections. One must ask why it was as easy as grade one “a b c d” for Zanu PF to rig these elections?

It was you, oh pompous one, and your MDC friends who not only failed to implement during the GNU but refused to listen not to take part in the election with no reform first in 2013 and again this year. You are the ones who have made it easy for Zanu PF to rig elections.

The nation has no more confidence in Mnangagwa and his junta taking the nation forward than it has in you, Mr Chamisa, and your corrupt and incompetent MDC friends.

What is needed is a bold admission that Zanu PF rigged the elections therefore must declare the process null and void. This will allow the appointment of an interim administration that will be tasked to implement the democratic reforms and hold free, fair and credible elections, the country’s first.

Allowing Mnangagwa to stay in power will only mean the country sinking deeper and deeper into this hell-on-earth Zanu PF has landed us in. Or worse, having yet another military coup or violent street protests. A situation in which 90% are unemployed, ¾ are forced to live on US$1.00 a day, etc. is very socially, political and morally unsustainable. We have been trading water for far too long already!

Leader of the opposition, MDC Alliance is under pressure from his colleagues and senior party members to negotiate for a better arrangement with Zanu PF amid indications that President Emmerson Mnangagwa wants to slot him among ministers as he cannot temper with the Presidium.

Chamisa who garnered 44.3% against Mnangagwa’s 50.8% is believed to be in talks with Zanu PF with a view to forming an inclusive arrangement, however sources close to the 40 year old politician said they will not allow him to accept a ministerial post which they believe is not worthy of his political value.

This is confirmed by earlier reports which indicated that Chamisa had demanded that Mnangagwa disregard his earlier appointments of Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi as his two deputies This is confirmed by earlier reports which indicated that Chamisa had demanded that Mnangagwa disregard his earlier appointments of Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi as his two deputies.

“His colleagues and other MDC Alliance leaders told him not to accept a ministerial post as that would be unfair considering that he won elections though they were rigged.

“He has also been warned against being a weak partner in any arrangement because that is how Tsvangirai lost the plot in 2008,” said the source.

There is nothing of any value that can ever come out of these flawed and illegal elections. Mnangagwa and the junta rigged these elections for the purpose of them enjoying absolute power and that is the one thing they intent to do and will do.

MDC leaders went into these elections knowing fully well that with no reforms in place they were gunning for the few seats Zanu PF gives away as bait. The got the 64 bait seats. Zanu PF needed the opposition to take part in these flawed and illegal elections to give the process the much needed credibility. Chamisa, as the leader of the main opposition, has played his party in giving the flawed elections credibility and now he is asking Mnangagwa for his reward!

Whatever position Chamisa gets whatever package, declared or otherwise, it will not make any difference to the lives of us, the ordinary people. We are stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship for another five years. We are in for a rough ride, whether Chamisa and one or two of his MDC friends are in cabinet or not it is going to be hell!

“Its best to let Zanu rule as they wanted!” That really sums up the sheer stupidity and recklessness of these MDC idiots! Chamisa and company were warned of the folly of contesting these elections without first implementing the reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. The fools would not listen. Zanu PF rigged the elections land the nation back into the hell-hole. And all the idiots have to say now is “let Zanu PF rule!”
There innocent Zimbabweans out there whose lives are hell-on-earth, the victims of 38 years of Zanu PF misrule and you telling them they must put up with another five more years of this hell?
The most important lesson for the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans to learn here is that MDC leaders are running with the hares and hunting with the hounds and have been doing this for the last ten years at least. The soon the people accept this the soon they can stop following sell-out like Chamisa blindly like sheep to the slaughter.

@ Caleb2011
Tsvangirai was after the thirty pieces of silver and Mugabe paid him in return for MDC forgetting about implementing the reforms. Chamisa, Biti and the others took their share of the bribe.

MDC leaders took part in these elections knowing Zanu PF would rig the elections but also that it will give away a few gravy train seats. They were after the latter and did not care that the process was flawed and illegal. Even when they learned that ZEC would not release a verified voters' roll they still participated.

MDC leaders a incompetent corrupt and sell-outs. For you to now pretend people like Chamisa are as innocent as a rose is being very naive, to say the least.

@ Ceebes

Anyone who thinks the investors who have shied away from Zimbabwe will now flood back because Chamisa is a cabinet member are really naive. Investors are a clever lot and they will see that MDC is going into this Zanu PF government for the sake of getting a cut of the spoils of power and will not change Zimbabwe's status as a pariah state ruled by vote rigging thugs!

Violet Gonda has been denied a Zimbabwean passport by Zanu PF. She is black listed.

The sheer stupidity of these Zanu PF thugs never seize to amaze me! They are really locked in this mentality they are the "stockholders of Zimbabwe and the rest of us are stakeholders", they have the veto and we have the token but otherwise valueless vote.

All those who thought that last November's coup had transformed Zimbabwe from a pariah state to a democracy had their mental eyes opened by the blatant vote rigging that took place in the recent elections.

"Mnangagwa is mark 2 Mugabe and should not be supported!" said British MP Kate Hoey. She was spot on! There are some out there who are dousing the skunk with Chanel 5 for their own selfish reasons, they must be reminded that the are millions of ordinary Zimbabweans who have no choice but to live with the skunk wearing its natural perfume!
