The United States of America Embassy in Harare has come under fire for posting a status on Twitter saying America stands with Zimbabwe as the country celebrate its 39th Independence.
"We congratulate Zimbabwe on 39 years of independence today." The Embassy said. "The United States remains a committed partner to the people of Zimbabwe and shares your hopes for growth, prosperity and a brighter future. #WeStandWithZim."
In response one PT Chimusoro said, "You don't stand with Zimbabwe. You stand against Zimbabwe. If you stand with Zimbabwe, why put it under cruel sanctions? We are not as dumb as you think we are that you come and lie straight in our faces.”
Chimusoro, you are dumb. The issue of sanctions have been explained to you a thousand times and a thousand times again and yet you still fail to grasp even the most simple elements.
Before last year’s elections the Americans explained to Mnangagwa that if he kept his promise and held free, fair and credible elections the sanctions will be lifted. He went on to blatantly rig the elections. ZEC failed to release a verified voters’ roll, something as basic as that, for Pete’s sake.
The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is the 39 years of incompetent and corrupt Zanu PF misrule and not the sanctions. Zanu PF has managed to stay in power these last 39 years against the democratic wishes of the people because the party rigged the elections.
If we are ever to get out of the economic hell-hole Zanu PF landed us into then we must stop Zanu PF rigging elections. We must focus all our time and energy on getting Zanu PF to step down so we have free, fair and credible elections. The sanctions are part and parcel of the effort to force Zanu PF to step down - dimwit!
The Americans are 100% correct in refusing to lift the sanctions and idiots like you Chimusoro are either benefiting from the Zanu PF dictatorship or are so thoroughly brainwashed you do not know what is in your own interest! The bottomline is that sanctions will stay! And middle finger salute to you!

The connection between Zanu PF's failure to hold free, fair and credible elections and the sanctions was not clear in the past, particularly with Zanu PF insisting the West imposed the sanctions as punishment for the party's land reforms. The West objected to Zanu PF seizing farms from the whites, the West's kith and kin. This was not true in last year's elections.
Mnangagwa was told in no uncertain terms that if you hold free, fair and credible elections the sanctions will be lifted. He blatantly rigged the elections. He could not even produce something as basic for meaningful elections as a verified voters' roll. Mnangagwa has insisted the elections were free, fair and credible thus adding insult to injury to all thinking Zimbabweans out there who know the nation was cheated.
Many of those calling for the sanctions to be lifted have themselves carefully avoided to comment on whether the elections were rigged or not as if that is irrelevant. There will never be any meaningful economic recovery in Zimbabwe as long as the country remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt and vote rigging thugs. So how can rigged elections be irrelevant?
Sanctions are an important tool in reminding Zanu PF leaders why the country is in this economic mess and has no hope of ever getting out!

“My question is that in Zimbabwe, they are those who are neutrals, who did not vote for Zanu PF nor MDC, should they suffer as well. Those sanctions are not fair because they help those so called thieves rich while you remain poor.
“Until today Chamisa hasn't proved to us that elections were rigged except complaining.
“Unless if you are one of those getting money from the West I am sure you will be right to glorify ZIDERA.”
Mnangagwa and his cronies are not “so called thieves”, they ARE thieves. Do you think they earned and paid income tax for all their palatial mansions, the farms, the business empire, the fleet of posh cars, the 45 gold watches, the no-expense spared lifestyles, etc., etc.? If you do then you are more naive and gullible than a village idiot!
Why are you looking to Chamisa to “prove” for you that last year’s elections were rigged? Are you that stupid you cannot figure it for yourself, even with all the evidence of the flaws and illegalities!
If you cannot figure out that Mnangagwa rigged the elections for the purpose of staying in power to loot and that it is the wholesale looting, not the sanctions, that has crippled the nation then you are a lost cause. You will never understand why we need the sanctions to remain. Never! Thank God the Americans do not have to listen to people like you who are so confused they have no idea what is in the national interest!
