"MDC A leaders are working to bring democracy" said Coltart - spare us the chutzpah, sold-out years ago P Guramatunhu

David Coltart has written to deny social media rumour mill claiming Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti are fighting each other.

"What sheer unadulterated nonsense this is - this is a routine rotation (appointment of Welshman Ncube as acting President) and nothing should be read into it. On other matters I have spoken to Chamisa, Ncube and Biti this morning. We are a coordinated and united team, working together to bring democracy and freedom to Zimbabwe," responded Coltart, who is the MDC Alliance Treasurer General.

You guys may be "a coordinated and united team" in seeking gravy train seats but please do not insult the people of Zimbabwe by lying about "working together to bring democracy and freedom to Zimbabwe"! If you were then you would have implemented the democratic reforms by now. You have had 20 years, 5 of them in the GNU, and you still failed to implement even one democratic change.

You have participated in the flawed elections knowing fully well that doing so would give credibility to the process. You have done it out of greed as, you Mr Coltart have admitted in your book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” you wrote.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Of course, MDC leaders sold-out big time during the 2008 GNU and ever since have been running with the povo hare whilst hunting with the Zanu PF hounds.

“Working together to bring democracy and freedom to Zimbabwe!” Please spare us the chutzpah!

Coltart you can talked about MDC A leaders being united about everything under the sun except "to bring freedom and democracy"! We both know that you guys have not only sold-out on these issues but have given up the fight and have been pursuing your own selfish agenda. You failed to get even one reform implemented in 20 years and you have been participating in flawed elections out of greed.

@ Mwebwe

MDC A have lost a lot of political credibility given the dog-eat-dog fighting that has been going on among the MDC factions.

Do you realise that the street protests you are now banking on to help give Chamisa political relevance would have been unnecessary if MDC had implemented the democratic reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging elections. So, MDC leaders forfeited the chance to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by implementing the reforms and are now hoping to end it by engaging the regime in street brawl!

Are you going to join in the street fighting? No, I did not think so; it was a rhetorical question. You and the MDC leaders are encouraging others to go but will go into hiding yourselves. The odd occasions the leaders are caught-up in the fight are priceless; who will ever forget the photos of Tsvangirai with the swollen eye and half his head shaved! It gave him the right to sell-out on reforms in return for the US$4 million mansion, the PM limos, etc., etc.

David Coltart never said a word as to why MDC failed to implement even one reform during the GNU itself. There is no doubt that Coltart must have agonised before admitting that MDC leaders participated in the elections out of greed when the logical thing to do was to boycott the elections. He has never ever repeated the admission and, worst of all, he and his MDC friends have continued to participate in the elections regardless of the evidence of the madness of it all.

It is not as if Coltart and at least other like Tendai Biti do not know that by participating in these flawed elections they are giving the process credibility and by extension the resultant Zanu PF government legitimacy. They know it. Coltart admitted it in his book but never ever repeated outside.

I totally agree; it is an insult for Coltart to then boast that he and his MDC colleagues are working to bring democracy when they are the ones giving the vote rigging Zanu PF regime the legitimacy lifeline.

Both Coltart and his MDC friends have taken full advantage of the fact that most Zimbabweans are naïve and gullible and hence the reason both parties continue to have followers regardless of their mountain of evidence as corrupt and incompetent. And for Coltart to treat every Zimbabwean out there as just another naïve and gullible MDC supporter who does not know their left hand from the right is an insult!

“David is fighting for his political life.. With MDC A all the alliance partner's political lives becomes over.. All they can do now is convince Chamisa otherwise.. And then come 2023 they will stab him in front.. We will see things unfolding.. Cone 2023 there will be another split from MDCA.. Unavoidable.”
All the MDC leaders are corrupt and they sold-out big time during the 2008 to 2013 GNU but worst of all they are breathtakingly incompetent. Whilst David Coltart is rightly praised for realising the sheer futility of participating in flawed and illegal elections; many of his MDC friends including Tsvangirai, Chamisa, Khupe, etc. have no idea what he is talking about even to this day.
Still, there is nothing to suggest that Coltart realised the futility of failing to implement even one reform during the five years of the GNU. So for all his five star upbringing and education, Coltart is just a village idiot with a good education.
MDC leaders have lost the opportunity to implement the reforms and have settled for whatever gravy train seats they can squeeze out of Zanu PF in return for participating in the flawed election process and giving it credibility. If the nation was to demand the implementation of the reforms as the pre-requisite to holding the next elections, then MDC leaders will be totally irrelevant as they have nothing to contribute in that fight.
Indeed, to save their political careers, Zanu PF acolytes at best, MDC leaders are doing everything they can to make sure the notion of implementing the reforms never ever see the light of day. Our fight for free, fair and credible elections is not only being resisted by Zanu PF but by MDC too.

“If you tell lies you are likely to be insulted. David disputed the liar 'claims and all MDC Alliance supporters 2,6 million of them agree with him. We cannot give in to stupid thinking of NCA . We do not duel in the past still talking of stupid nonstarter reforms which will never be respected by Zanu. Tell uMaduku to implement your reforms hanti he is in Polad.”
Coltart is been slammed for claiming he and his MDC colleagues are “working to bring democracy” when all they have ever done on the matter was sell-out again and again. Not everyone was insulted, of course.
People like you, Mwembe, have failed to understand to understand what the reforms are much less how they would be implemented. So you are not disappointed MDC leaders failed to implement the reforms because you have no clue what we are talking about.
You can claim from the hill-top that Chamisa got 2.6 million votes, no one with half a brain will believe you. He was asked to produce the V11 forms to support his claim and he failed!
“MDC has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the (July 2018) elections!” Chamisa told his MDC wildebeest and they believed him no questions asked.
The essence of Chamisa’s Constitutional Court challenge of Mnangagwa’s victory was that he would accept the elections were free, fair and credible but only if he, Chamisa, is declared the winner! His position is no different from that of Mnangagwa, since he was declared the winner he too swears the elections were free, fair and credible; regardless of the glaring illegalities such as the failure to produce a verified voters’ roll.
The legitimacy of the result is derived from electoral process which must be free, fair and credible. A simple concept but clearly one that has escaped the comprehension of simpletons like Mnangagwa, Chamisa and yours truly, Mwembe!
Zimbabwe is going to implement the reforms, end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. We are going to get out of this hell-hole regardless of all Zanu PD and MDC’s political machinations to stop the reforms being implemented. Mark my words!

“Wilbert Mukori Tell Madhuku to implement reforms he is in polad. Why are you so fond of MDC officials. You are not even a member of MDC alliance. Can't you see you are making yourself a big idiot.”

I have never said Madhuku can implement the reforms but you clearly think so. Why don’t you tell him yourself!

MDC leaders have held public office for the last 20 years, they had many golden opportunities to implement the democratic reforms that would have ended the Zanu PF dictatorship. They have failed to implement even one reforms. Village idiots like David Coltart have the chutzpah to claim they are “working to bring democracy”! I am here to make damn well sure that the idiots are held to democratic account!

You are of the school of thought that MDC A leaders are only accountable to the MDC supporters. Well I dismiss that nonsense with the contempt it rightly deserves!

@ Lovemore Sibanda

Both Zanu PF and MDC have been able to do as they pleased for the last 40 years because the Zimbabwe electorate, especially their party supporters, are very naïve and gullible. Universal suffrage has not been a blessing but a curse for Zimbabwe!

It is up to every thinking Zimbabwean out there to educate the citizens to take their duty of electing competent leaders seriously or the nation will never ever get out of the hell-hole Zanu PF has landed us. If we can implement the democratic reforms the task of educating povo will be a lot easier!

“Wilbert Mukori my first time when I saw your picture I thought you were smart simple thinker but heeeeish it's true you never know a fool until he or she start talking .You are so childish and lack simple maturity to know that with Zanu in power no reforms will happen simple as that . Why have not learnt that?”
This is the same foolish argument repeated over and over again, “with Zanu PF in power no reform will happen” and now it has crystallised into fact. What you conveniently ignore is that Zanu PF agreed to the reforms in the Global Political Agreement that gave rise to the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Zanu PF was no more in power during the GNU than MDC, this was a GNU!
The only reason why not even one reform was implemented during the GNU is because “Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were busy enjoying the trapping of power they forgot why they were there!” as one SADC diplomat aptly put soon after the rigged 2013 elections.
Yes in elections were Zanu PF has rigged the elections to secure a 2/3 majority there is no chance of forcing the party to implement the reforms. Which is exactly why people have been arguing MDC not to participate in any elections without reforms. I don’t remember you ever arguing MDC not to take part in these meaningless elections.

There you go again off at a tangent! Who said what does not make the ideas so expressed any more valid or otherwise because of the name, gender, tribe, etc. of the speaker. Abednico Mwembe could well be a monkey for all I care, my focus is on what the monkey has said!

"They are aimed at unfairly using the security establishment to drum up support for their planned illegal anti-Government protests. It should be noted that, as a professional, loyal and patriotic Defence Force, the ZDF does not involve itself in anti-people activities that are designed to achieve anti-Government political and economic objectives by some malcontents within our citizenry."

Meanwhile Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume, who is behind the organisation of the protests, told journalists that, "Bad leaders need to take their feet off our neck, we can't breathe. We demand all public leaders to immediately step down."

History will remember that it was none other than Jacob Ngarivhume and his fellow corrupt and incompetent opposition candidates who gave the Zanu PF regime the modicum of legitimacy it is now flaunting by participating in the flawed and illegal July 2018 elections. The economic situation in Zimbabwe has left 34% of the people living in abject poverty, this is socially, morally and politically unsustainable.

There is a lot of bottled up anger and one can see why these street protests can easily escalate into an orgy of violence, death and destruction. Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies will be held to account for having slammed the door shut to peaceful change by repeatedly rigging the elections. Ngarivhume and his fellow opposition sell-outs must account for their role in giving Zanu PF the legitimacy the regime did not deserve!

In its latest report, the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) said Zanu-PF will win the polls due to its dominance of the country's political landscape.

The EIU also forecast an advancement in Zimbabwe's economic performance anchored on improvements in power generation, agriculture and mining, among other factors.

"The next presidential and legislative elections are due in 2023," said the EIU.

"We expect President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF to win, given their stranglehold on the political scene."

The EIU further noted: "From 2022 onwards, the economic crisis will slowly abate, driven by improvements in energy production and in agriculture and mining output. This will improve Zimbabwe's foreign reserves position, supporting the currency and moderating inflation."

Even if the forecasted economic improvements from 2022 onward were not going to materialised, Zanu PF will still romp to victory in the 2023 elections as long as no meaningful reforms have been implemented. If Zanu PF is still in power, be it own its own or in some fudged GNU, the party will see to it that no meaningful reforms are implemented.
With no reforms Zanu PF’s election victory is as certain as the sun rising tomorrow!

@ Vince
Well you will be very pleased to hear that Zanu PF will romp to victory in the 2023 elections, according to some British Think Tank, Economic Intelligence Unit. With no democratic reforms in place of course Zanu PF’s victory was as certain as the sun rising tomorrow!

I told you that we should focus on getting Zanu PF to step down so we can finally implement the democratic reforms but, of course, you would not listen. Chandagwinyira!

Well you must now be pleased that no reforms will be implemented and Zanu PF will romp with another electoral victory. Are you going to Shake-Shake House to sell your 10 part Radical Economic Structural Transformation-REST thesis to Mnangagwa then. And you think Mnangagwa will stop the wholesale looting in Marange and Chiadzwa because he has seen REST! You really are naïve!
