Zanu PF blame west for 31 July protest - paranoia, why would west abandon reform for protest P Guramatunhu

“And for Cde Matemadanda to then to say we are sponsored by the west…so the people of Zimbabwe are sponsored by the west because on their own they cannot think of the need to fight against corruption!” replied Jacob Ngarivhume, leader of Transform Zimbabwe and organiser of the July 31 national protests against corruption.

“To think that every idea and every time that Zimbabweans want to speak out then it’s the west, it is despicable.

“It is a terrible mentality, which is anti-Zimbabwean, which is anti-African to believe that your own people can’t think.

“For him to say the people of this nation cannot think beyond Zanu PF, the people of this nation cannot think beyond corruption, is a mentality which is completely detached from the needs of the people Zimbabwe.”

This is just standard Zanu PF nonsense to always attribute everything that happens in the country, the party does not approve of, to the west. The most significant thing the MDC has ever done in all its 20 years on the political stage was the failure to implement even one meaningful democratic reform; Zanu PF has never accused the west of influencing MDC then!

More recently, Ngarivhume and the rest of the opposition idiots participated in the July 2018 elections with no reforms in place against the advice from the west. The later have since condemned elections as a farce. Once again Zanu PF did not complain about the west influencing the opposition because the opposition’s blundering suited Zanu PF’s selfish agenda.

Why would the west advise the opposition to participate in a flawed electoral process to give the vote rigging Zanu PF regime legitimacy and then try to remove Zanu PF from office by holding street protests? Only Zimbabwe’s corrupt and incompetent opposition would abandon the direct way of bring about change – implementing the democratic reforms - in favour of the cumbersome and convoluted option of street protest against corruption.

Credit where credited is due only Zimbabwe’s opposition can abandon reforms in favour of street protests. The west had no role to play in that!

The accusation that the west is behind the planned street protest is baseless and typical Zanu PF paranoia! And, in typical Zanu PF style, the regime is mobilising the state machinery to ruthlessly crash the protests.

Other nations have allowed peaceful protests to go ahead even during the corona virus outbreak; Black Lives Matter protests being one such example. Zanu PF is determined to stop the July 31 protests peaceful or not, corona virus or not.

What is fuelling the public unrest in Zimbabwe is the country’s worsening economic situation which has left 34% of the population into abject poverty. The corona virus pandemic has made the bad situation even worse. And as long as nothing is done to end the economic hardship the people are facing – Zanu PF has proven beyond all doubt that the party has no clue what to do to revive the economic - then the threat of social unrest will hang over the nation’s head like the sword of Damocles.

The tragedy here is that by blocking peaceful democratic change, by rigging elections and using violence to stop peaceful protests, Zanu PF has left the country with only one other option to bring about change – violence.

Still, even now, at this the 59th minute of 11th hour, the nation can step back from the brink and seek a peaceful way out of this mess. A violent solution must be avoided, if at all possible, because it always brings with it death and destruction and, worst of all, there is no guarantee it will delivered the desired outcome - a democratic and stable Zimbabwe. (Look what our war of independence landed us in; the corrupt, incompetent and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship!)

It is not too late for this vote rigging and per se illegitimate Zanu PF regime to step down now; so the nation can appoint an interim administration to implement the democratic reforms leading to free, fair and credible elections. It is Zanu PF greed and intransigence that have taken this nation to the edge of the precipitous abyss. It is within Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies stop this sabre rattling and step back away from the abyss.

If the nation is forced to resort to violent street protests as the only way to end this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship then Mnangagwa and company must know that they will be responsible for all the mischief, death and destruction caused by the violent protests.

The measure applies to the chief executive officers and several directors of hospitals in the capital, Harare, and the city of Bulawayo. The Health Ministry seeks to improve “operational efficiency” as well as the use of its resources, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported Monday, citing Paulinus Sikhosana, chair of the Health Services Board.

I wonder whether the CEO are being fired to hide the regime's blundering incompetence in the handling of the corona virus. It is no secret that Zimbabwe has failed to test all the covid-19 suspected cases at its public health institutions and thus resulting in the under reporting of the covid-19 cases and deaths!

• Dr. Chiwenga is an astute Constitutionalist and at November 2017 , let’s all take stock that :

This is nonsense, there is nothing constitutional about the November 2017 military coup. The trouble with some people is they have such short memories they forget yesterday's troubles with a night's sleep. We are not going to fall in the trap of removing Mnangagwa only to replace him with Chiwenga as we did by removing Mugabe but to replace him with Mnangagwa!

@ L Koni

"We have solution to our problems, firstly to sort out our political impasse. We don't need foreigners to do this. We don't even need to blame sanctions or some phantom enemy for not doing this."

Saying we must "sort out our political impasse" is no more a solution than the classical belling the cat! The devil is in the detail and hence the reason not one cat has ever had a bell tied round his neck and hence the reason 40 years after independence we are still stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and murderous regime.

Zimbabwe support unity police at training camp

Zanu PF is gearing up for a violent confrontation, anything to stop change. Meanwhile the worsening economic situation is forcing the people to demand change.

Zanu PF cannot deny they have failed to solve the country's economic problems and it is totally unacceptable for the regime to continue to hold the nation to ransom after 40 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule. The people have a right to demand change, to be free and have a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs but each time their open their big mouths one cannot help but notice how naïve and foolish they are. They claim to be the party of liberation and champions of democracy and defender of the rule of law. And yet they have ruthlessly denied the people the freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life! So, who exactly did they liberate?

Mnangagwa refused to implement even one democratic reform before the July 2018 elections. The regime failed to produce something as basic to elections as a verified voters’ roll for Pete’s sake. And yet Zanu PF still maintains it is “constitutionally elected government”!

I totally agree that only a village idiot would fail to implement the democratic reforms even with the golden opportunity to do so and participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy only to confront the dictatorship in violent street protests. Only Zanu PF in their usual foolishness would attribute such the folly with the west. No, credit where credit is due MDC and the fellow opposition politicians are the village idiots!

"What we know is that we (MDC-T) are not a member of POLAD and Khupe has not been mandated to represent the party. That issue will have to be considered after the extraordinary congress if there is a need to do so," Komichi said in a recent interview.

In POLAD, Khupe heads the international re-engagement committee whose mission is calling for the removal of sanctions imposed by the West on Zimbabwe some 20 years ago.

At Monday's meeting, Mnangagwa said his government would continue investigating and clamping down on corruption as he continues to pursue goals towards achieving Vision 2030.

This is a circus!

The MDC Alliance argued that it could not be involved in a dialogue with a rival faction led by Thokozani Khupe who they accuse of fronting the interests of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu-PF party.

This dialogue is a waste of time in that it continues to place Zanu PF on the pedestal above all others. Zanu PF rigged the July 2018 elections and landing us in this mess
And therefore to ask the same illegitimate regime to play any role is absurd.

Zimbabwe: Towards Constitutionalism and the return of the Military to the Barracks. Time: 9 July 2020/17:30 to 19:30 CAT Zoom ID:880 8638 9060 Password: 849236 Facbook: https://www.facebook.com/sapestrust/

The Zimbabwe constitution is weak and feeble and it is nonsense to argue that if we go around and have Sunday School lesson on the constitution we will wake up some day and have a healthy and functional democracy! It is ironic that those entrusted with this sacred duty to implement the reforms and write a democratic constitution and were paid well to do it; not only sold out but are now offering their services to the nation as the Sunday School teachers! No doubt with an eye to making another fortune at the nation’s expense!

We need to revisit the 2008 Global Political Agreement, implement the democratic reforms. We must throw away the 2013 constitution, the trash “dictated by Mugabe”, as Paul Mangwana, the Zanu PF co-chairperson on the parliamentary committee tasked to write the constitution, boasted. And draft a new democratic constitution in its place!
