Mliswa compares amendment giving Mnangagwa extra 2 years to xtra time in football. How pathetic! W Mukori

 @ Temba Mliswa

The people of Zimbabwe elected their President, MPs, senators and councillors to serve a maximum of five years. If they had performed well the people are at liberty elect the same individual for another five year term and another. The people insisted in writing into the constitution that no one was to serve as state president for more than a maximum of two five year terms.

It is nonsensical that the elected officials should now seek to extend their five years maximum term by hook and by crook. Comparing what Zanu PF is doing with a football game is absurd. Injury time, extra time, penalty shoot out, etc. are all agreed before the game started. What Zanu PF is doing here is breaking the rules to suit its own selfish needs.

If we are going to compare what amendment No.3 is seeking to do to a football game then it is the equivalent of one team demanding 45 minutes injury time, then demanding it should be allowed to have all substituted players to comeback after all they did not receive red card, etc., etc.

Zanu PF has ridden roughshod over the people of Zimbabwe denying then their basic freedoms and rights including a meaningful say in the governance of the country. Amendment No. 3 is just another mile stone in the subjugation of the nation. The whole public consultation exercise is a farce, the regime has already decided what going to happen with the bill the rest is just theatre. to justify the end!
