Ousted Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairman Ambassador John
Shumba Mvundura said he will remain a loyal member of the ruling party and
accepts the decision taken against him.
People like Mvundura have remained loyal to Mugabe and Zanu PF
even when corruption destroyed the nation's economy forcing millions into a
life of abject poverty and despair, you have remained loyal even when the
regime rigged elections and murdered thousands for selfish political gain. You
sold your heart and soul to the devil then, now that the devil is kicking you
in the teeth the people are in fact pleased that you are having a bucketful of
the same injustice you so readily dish out to us. We are not going to lose
sleep over something as trivial and irrelevant as whether or not a sacked Zanu
PF official remains loyal to the tyrant or not.
You are only saying so to save yourself
further kicking. You are naïve if you think that Mugabe will fish you out of
the economic hardship you now face because the economic meltdown means he has
no cushy jobs to give away – not any more. The only way out for the nation is
for Zanu PF to step down and allow all the democratic reforms to be
implemented.
Instead of, for the first time in your life
siding with the common people you are once again seeking to sell them out for
selfish reason. Even after the tyrant has just kicked you in the teeth you
still side with him.
Well, go ahead; just remember that you are now
living is S***t Alley with us the ordinary people and not in Easy Street with
the tyrant and his cronies. You are no longer one of the ruling elite and we
really do not like sell-out much less those who will betray us once again just
to earn favours with the tyrant.

We should not forget that these Zanu PF members are amongst some of the most idiotic characters on earth, they have to be otherwise they would not have cheered and applauded Mugabe all these years whilst the tyrant drove the nation to destruction. The tyrant is kicking them in the teeth although they have done no wrong and the idiots are tripping over each other to pledge their loyalty!
These Zanu PF idiots cannot see that Zanu PF is collapsing, they still believe the regime will "rule until the donkeys grow horns" and they are appeasing the tyrant in the hope that they will in turn keep their grave spot on the national or provincial hero's acre. They now fear a pauper's funeral! If there is anyone more deserving of a pauper’s funeral, it is these Zanu PF leaders!
Mugabe’s dirty past is going to come out, of that I am sure. It will take only one disgruntled indi-vidual to say what happened and that will be enough to open the flood gates. When they rigged last year’s elections none of these Zanu PF supporters ever imagined that the tyrant they were helping to cheat into power would be savagely kicking them in the teeth. Yet he is!
The truth will always come out, that is why we must always stay on the right side of the law! Mu-gabe’s dirty past is coming out and our sell-out friends whose claim to a hero’s funeral is de-pendent on the dirty and their role in it remaining covered are in for an even bigger surprise – it is a life of abject poverty followed by a pauper’s funeral! “Rinemanyanga hariputirwi!” as one would say in Shona!
@ Dr. Wangu Mazodze
The real mystery here is how anyone with even a few functioning brain cells would still support Tsvangirai or any of the other MDC leaders after their pathetic failures and blunders throughout the GNU years. What else did these individuals have to do to convince these mentally chal-lenged Zimbabweans that MDC will never get the out of this mess and therefore they must look somewhere else?
Zimbabwe has a population of 12 million and yet some people will want to recycle the same failed and incompetent leaders like Tsvangirai and even Mai Mujuru, who has been in a vegeta-tive state for 34 years already, was been consider a potential leader the minute Mugabe kicked her out of Zanu PF.
Grace Mugabe accused Mai Mujuru of being incompetent, lazy and corrupt, amongst other things; no one in their right mind would ever deny that she is not. Mugabe, not to be outdone by his wife accused Mai Mujuru of being a “simple minded” woman. Mai Mujuru admitted herself that she is indeed a simpleton. Mugabe had appointed her to be VP for selfish reasons; he likes to surround himself with useless and incompetent people who never threatened his hold on power.
Mai Mujuru’s pathetic past performance, like MDC leaders like Tsvangirai’s blundering incompe-tence had no effect on some Zimbabweans; she was prime candidate for their deadwood recy-cling scheme. They were really disappointed when she said she would “die in Zanu PF”. She is already thinking of her death and does not want to lose her spot on Hero’s Acre!
Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because of the Zimbabwean voters’ propensity to follow political leaders blindly like sheep. But to follow someone like Tsvangirai even after they have already proven beyond doubt that they are incompetent takes the biscuit! The reality is that the nation is not going to get out of this mess until people take the business of electing competent leaders with the seriousness it deserves.
People like Dr. Wangu Mazodze, (assuming he/she has earned the doctorate and not another three months Phd) a senior researcher at Glencore Consulting (Pty) Ltd (assuming the company has ever produced an opinion worth the paper it was written on) be helping the nation think and not drag the nation with nonsense!
Unless Grace wants to be buried, politically, with her husband then Grace will know that his re-maining president for life is a luxury those like her who still hope to have a life after his death can ill afford! Being life president has its appeal for both Mugabe and his wife but the best thing he can do now is allow Grace the time and space to consolidate her position and protect her as the retired president. The ruthlessness with which Mai Mujuru has been dealt with is a timely reminder to both just how vulnerable a rich window without the protection of her powerful husband can be in Zimbabwe’s murderous political landscape can be!
With Mnangagwa now as VP, Mugabe will find that his political wings have been trimmed compared to the days of VP Mujuru or VP Muzenda. Grace will pay dearly if she crosses swords with VP Mnangagwa, she has already done that when she used her influence to get Mujuru appointed VP when he was in line to win. Mnangagwa will not have forgotten nor forgiven her for that and any signs of new treachery by her will be dealt with - if not immediately then as soon as Mugabe is out of the way.
Crocodiles are very patient hunters and when they do attack they ruthlessness and savagery of the attack is what makes them such fearful hunters! Mnangagwa is nicknamed Ngwena or crocodile and it is not just for his good looks, Grace will never live to tell the story of what happened herself but others will testify to cement ngwena's reputation!
@ Alex Magaisa
“But now it's as if after fighting so hard and winning power, they have no clue what to do with it, rather like what has happened since July 31 2013, when instead of concentrating on the man-date to govern, they never stopped ranting about Tsvangirai and the MDC,” you say.
Zanu PF never had the “mandate to govern” from the people of Zimbabwe precisely because the people did not believe the regime had anything to offer. The only reason Zanu PF was able to get back into power is by rigging the vote. MDC – the party you Alex Magaisa was supposed to be advise – failed to implement even one of the raft of reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.
You have completely missed the point that Mnangagwa has won the VP position by once again rigging Zanu PF’s electoral system and denying party members their democratic right to a mean-ingful vote. All you are concerned about is how much time Mnangagwa should spend celebrating his ill-got position as if that is all that really matters.
How a respectable institution like Kent School of law appointed someone as inept and incompetent as you lecturer is what I will never ever understand! Are you sure you are not one of those whose doctorate was earned in three months, Zimbabwe is becoming notorious for awarding PhDs to village idiots – Professor Welshman Ncube, Professor Mutambara, Dr Morgan Tsvangi-rai, Dr Joice Mujuru, Dr Grace Mugabe, Dr Alex Magaisa, Professor Jonathan Moyo, R G Mugabe has seven University degrees (the only one he has ever used in the one in violence), etc.!
Zimbabwe has the highest literacy rates in Africa and surprise, surprise has registered the fastest shrinking economy is the world due to mismanagement. With lecturers like Professor Moyo, Dr Magaisa etc. it is easy to see why this is so. With such inept and incompetent lecturers student learn everything like parrots without ever learning the relevancy of what they have learned!
The nation is facing a serious challenge of an entrenched dictatorship that is making life hell-on-earth for millions of our people and all you are wiitering about is how the usurper should celebrate his mastery in rigging elections! You never seize to amaze me, Alex!
This Zanu PF regime has gone beyond the point of no return, the courts, the law, rule of law, respect of human rights, etc. all these things mean nothing to them now. The regime knows that it has lost all credibility and with it the means to get outside help to help rebuild the shattered economy. So the regime does not care what people say, it openly flouting all the laws.
Zanu PF is like a snake that has been flattened by a car; it is alive but cannot get away and whilst it is still alive it is dangerous. The economic meltdown has flattened this Zanu PF dictatorship; the greatest danger now it that the regime will drag the nation into the abyss with it!
@Greenbomber
After Magaisa gave Tsvangirai stupid advise not to implement the reforms Tsvangirai was as good as died politically! He is not going to recover from such a political blunder and it is surprising that so many of the MDC wildebeest herd have still not realised this!is
Of course a nation whose voters follow blindly like wildebeest bound to blunder from pillar to post. We need voters who think and not wildebeest if we are ever to get out of this hell! This MDC herd is holding the nation back!
@ patrick
We say we want democracy but we really do not know what it means and/or are scarred to make it work. If we understood what democracy is then we would know that holding people to account for their actions or omissions is a key tenet of a health and functioning democracy. The single most important task MDC were tasked to do during the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms so that not just the next election but all elections from there on would be free, fair and credible.
MDC had the majority in parliament and cabinet, the backing of SADC Heads of State who also were the guarantor of the GPA and who did they best to remind MDC of implementing the re-forms and had five years the reforms. All the reforms could have been implemented in six months or less, they had five years to do it. In the end, they failed to get even one reform imple-mented.
Mugabe welcomed the MDC leaders on the gravy train with all manner of creature comforts and they forgot all about the reforms. When Tsvangirai got the keys to his $4 million Highlands man-sion, his lips were superglued and never ever said another word on the reforms.
Of course we must hold MDC leaders to account for selling out the nation for what adds up to no more than a piece of calico cloth per head, the same price blacks sold their own kith and kin to white slave traders, and to account for their breath-taking incompetence. Their refusal to apologize only serves to show just how arrogant they are, they believe everyone is so stupid and naive to figure out what they did.
These MDC leaders have already proven beyond all doubt that they are not to be trust to hold public office it is in the nation’s interest that they do not.
Democracy is about giving the electorate a choice but if the electorate are going to make a meaning choice then they need to understand the issues at hand. This is where Zimbabweans have let themselves and the nation down. It is obvious that the great majority of Zimbabweans did not have a clue what the reforms were about, for example. Even now with the benefit of hindsight still millions do not have a clue what we are talking about.
Zimbabweans have followed leaders blindly like sheep and ended up following an incompetent idiot like Tsvangirai and a murderous tyrant like Mugabe. People need to know and understand that having a vote is a right but with every right comes the duty to use it responsibly. What is the point of having a vote if you are going to waste it voting for an idiot or tyrant for example!
Zimbabwe has already had three good opportunities to have a good political system, in 1980 which Zanu PF wasted, in 2008 which MDC wasted and in 2013 which MDC and the electorate wasted. We must make sure we do not waste the next chance!
@ Obert Gutu
It is all very well for "motor-mouth" Obert Gutu to talk of Mugabe as a "man who is no longer fit for purpose; an old and tired gentleman." The fact of the matter is Mugabe was able to outwit Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC leadership including motor-mouth into doing nothing about the democratic reforms for five years.
Tsvangirai went on a sea cruise “Legend of the Sea” with his floozy when the economy was in trouble why did motor-mouth say nothing then?
Those who live in $ 4 million Highland mansions (glass houses) must not throw verbal abuse at those living in $20 million Blue Roof mansions (glass houses) because we the taxpayers who have paid for the two do not like hypocrites and will throw stones to shut your motor-mouth!
A government economist who declined to be named said: “The decision will further worsen the haemorrhaging economy and in this scenario when politics clashes with the economy, politics unfortunately always wins.”
He was commenting on how Mugabe has caused even more financial problems by appointing two addition ministries, one for War Vets Welfare and the other for Economic Planning plus the two VPs making them three since Mujuru will continue to get a full salary as her pension.
Up to now the politics has always won by kicking the can down the road but now the regime has run out of road! This regime is trying its best to pretend it is business as usual when the facts on the ground say the national economy is in ICU.
If this nation does not do something to address the country's economic meltdown and thus alle-viate the appalling and tragic human suffering it is causing then it must expect the people to take matters in their own hands and demand change. They anger, bottled up for all these years, will be like a tsunami it will overwhelm us all and will leave a trail of death and destruction in its wake.
Zanu PF has failed and must step down now before the tsunami wave of anger and frustration finally bust out!
@Patrick
It is a great pity that the war vets who should have been allowed to speak freely and authoritatively on matters of freedom, liberty, justice and all the other values the nation was fighting for and so many lost their lives have, like so many other institutions, been politically compromised into singing Mugabe and Zanu PF praises and nothing else.
I have relatives who fought in the liberation war; some are in the praise-singing camp and during elections they are often used by Zanu PF candidates to do the dirty work of harassing, intimidating, beating and, no doubt, murder of the opposition. Sometimes they are given vehicles to do this and that has made them feel really important. Then there are those ex-combatants, like you, who believed in freedom for all and are ashamed at how Zanu Pf has been transformed from a liberation party to a tyrannical one.
@silungisanindlovu
The $50 000 was paid to war vets at the tail end of the second five-year Economic Structural Adjustment Programme (ESAP) to alleviate the economic hardship everyone except the ruling elite were feeling. The World Bank and IMF who had help formulate the first five-year programme and the second one and funded both had listed the need for financial discipline and the need to cut the waste due to mismanagement and corruption, which were a big problem even back then.
The first five-year programme have not produced any economic recovery because the Zanu PF government did not reduce the waste by the chefs but only made the financial cuts affecting the ordinary people. The ordinary people were tightening their belts but the chefs were loosening their belts. Many of the war vets whose existence were no difference from that of ordinary people joined povo in voicing their displeasure at how they are making the sacrifices demanded by the programme whilst the chefs are not.
By the time the second ESAP was being implemented the belt tightening exercise was causing serious economic hardship and yet there was no sign the chefs were even taking their sacrifice seriously. The $50 000 was proposed a gratuity payment to war vets was to achieve the follow-ing:
1) to separate the war vets from the ordinary people who were not getting any of the money, the two group were feeling the economic hardship equally and being an ex-combatant did not make one more human than the other – in other words it was a cynical divide and rule tactic.
2) The chefs did not have the political will to make the economic sacrifices necessary for economic recover which would have benefited all, war vets, povo and the chef. The war vet knew this but because they had just received the $50 000 they would show their gratitude by not asking the chefs to tighten their belts for the good of the nation. This is why the $50 000 was a bribe to buy the war vets’ silence.
3) Many Zanu PF chefs are war vets in their own right they too got the $50 000 windfall.
4) The $50 000 was not budgeted for and thus violated one of the programme’s demands of financial discipline but the regime did not care.
5) To pay the war vets $50 000 gratuity, 17 years after the end of the war and at the time when the economy was as sick as a parrot and risk make it even worse (which is what happened) did not make any economic sense. It did made sense to Mugabe who had given up hope to delivery mass prosperity and with it popular support.
His plan was to foster economic dependence on the generosity of the party and not the impoverished nation on the war vets. The $50k was the first payment. In return the war vets would be the party’s lawless militia whose anger always flared up towards elections and carefully stage managed. Their denial of the ordinary people’s basic freedoms and rights and their violent conduct was justified on the grounds that they have been pro-voked or they are demanding/defending critical pre-independence objectives.
Chenjerai Hunzvi and Jabulani Sibanda become the ideal war vet leader after Mugabe’s own heart; ruthless, single-track minded and who blind loyalty to Mugabe was more fitting to a dog than a human being.
@ Eddie Cross
"WHENEVER I sit down to write this weekly letter, I am faced with a dilemma as to what I might say about the immediate situation in the country." Really?
Well you have not told the nation why you failed to implement even one democratic re-form in five years in the GNU? Why don't you answer that next time!
If you lot had implemented the reforms then Mugabe will not have rigged last year's election. If you think we are all so stupid we did not even realise what you lot had done and therefore no one will ever hold you to account, think again!
Mugabe and Zanu PF will have Gukurahundi, rigged elections and the billions of dollars of looted wealth to account for. For MDC, you must account for your failure to implement even one democratic reform!
@ Tsvangirai
"The party’s organs are now fully constituted and the party is ready to execute its historical mandate to bring change and democracy in the country."
The party failed to execute the same mandate last time when it had GPA, SADC backing and five years to do it. If it had done it then the country would not be in this political mess!
You lot have already proven beyond doubt that you are breathtakingly incompetent and therefore not to be trusted to hold public office ever again.
@ Masiwisa
300 000 children who should have been going to school were not because their parents are failing to put one decent meal on the table much less find school fees. Mugabe had the money to spend on a $ 1 million birthday party and $ 5 million on his daughter's wedding. He rigged last year's national elections and has just rigged Zanu PF's own party elections. Do you want me to go on?
Mugabe is a corrupt and murderous tyrant and you are talking of a different person. You really think a murderer can be called a saint because in his youth he helped an old lady cross the street!?
Mnangagwa said the country has been through an economic rough patch because of the illegal sanctions but Zimbabweans have proved to be a resilient people.
Illegal sanctions, well he is clearly still in denial of the root causes of the country's economic meltdown. The economy is no pushover like Tsvangirai or Mujuru; he will admit the truth and, since he has no solution, step down. The economic meltdown will just match on regardless of the denial.
In four weeks time people will be coming back from their Christmas break, the nation will know how many companies will not be re-opening and how many more workers would have been thrown on the Mount Everest high unemployed heap!
If you are testing the “resilience” of the Zimbabwean people then it is both inhuman and degrad-ing to inflict so much economic hardship on the nation just to test their resilience and worse still you are playing with fire. When the resilience finally reaches its breaking point the tsunami of bottled up anger and frustration will overwhelm us all; it will sweep all before it and is certain to leave a trail of death and destruction in its wake. This is something we must avoid and the only way to do so is for this Zanu PF regime to admit it has no solution to the economic meltdown step down to allow for free, fair and credible elections.
