IF NEXT ELECTIONS WERE FREE AND FAIR ZANU PF WOULD LOSE TO ANYONE SCRAPPING AMENDMENT No. 3!
Zanu PF is boxing the nation into a tight corner, the party is well known for doing this, and we should be smart enough to avoid this mouse trap!
After 46 years of Zanu PF rigging elections and getting away with it because the party has been giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter how flawed and illegal the process get. Unfortunately for the nation, opposition leaders like Chamisa has a pool of brain dead followers whom he was able to con again and again to participate in the flawed elections with idiotic lies.
SMART POSITION
- - Demand the implementation of democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections. Rules are there for a purpose and it really is foolish to keep participating in flawed elections, “so flawed, so illegal, the only logical step is to withdraw”.
- - MDC/CCC leaders have failed to get any reforms implemented in 26 years including the 5 GNI years because they are corrupt and incompetent. This does not mean we do not need the reforms; we need the reforms now as ever. Just because Tsvangirai & co. sold out does mean there is no one else who can implement the reforms; there are plenty of competent Zimbabweans; just need to create the right environment for them to emerge.
ZANU PF POSITION
- - Zanu PF created this dysfunction de facto one party state to consolidate its iron grip on power. Whilst party member may fight amongst themselves the are one when it comes to “Zanu PF will rule forever! Kusvika madonki amera nyanga!” The party thugs will never implement reforms to ensure free and fair elections, they will never reform themselves out of office.
- - They will avoid any situation that might result in the party being forced to accept implementing reforms, as happened in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. This is why the party has wooed the opposition to participate with the few gravy train seats, POLAD, etc. and the mouse trap.
ZANU PF AMENDMENT MOUSE TRAP
- - Draw people’s attention away from rigged elections and demand for reforms by giving them something else to fight for instead - fight to stop Mnangagwa staying in power beyond 2028.
- - Spice up ED2030 Agenda by making sure it remains of the national agenda at all times.ED2030 has since morphed into Constitutional amendment No.3.
- - Spice up amendment No. 3 by addition even more provocative amendments such as extending the term limit of not just Mnangagwa but MPs, Senators and councillors, proposed MPs and senators will elect the president, etc.
- - Spice up amendment No. 3 even more by proposing parliament alone will decide. There will be no referendum. Zanu PF has just blatantly rig 2023 elections and will have no problem rigging the referendum but the regime also knows that if the opposition should demand some reforms to clean up the process especially in the light of the rigged 2023 elections, the party will be in trouble. So the party is playing hard ball on the referendum to get the opposition and public to commit to the referendum completely.
- - Meanwhile Zanu PF is mobilising its party vote rigging machinery to prepare to rig the referendum whilst doing everything to disrupt the opposition.
- - Spring the trap, force the opposition to participate in the referendum and then elections knowing the process is “so flawed, so illegal, the only logical step is to withdraw” but cannot because it is too late!

"Ko iwe yako plan ndeip, chimboitawo tione, always blaming 24/7."
How naive! Chamisa DID claim to have solid plans in the past. Are you denying this? If this is true, why are you dismissing as “blaming”?
Why are you fuming and frothing that Chamisa is being held to account for lying and conning the nation?
Like it or not Chamisa is corrupt, incompetent, a liar and a conman. Accept this reality is a necessary first step in solving Zimbabwe’s political and economic crisis!
@ Kang
“Now you are asking a genuinely better question, and it deserves a serious answer.
You are right that the Constitution alone has not delivered free and fair elections. Nobody serious has ever claimed it has. You are right that ZANU PF will attempt to rig 2028 with or without this amendment. And you are right that rejecting the Bill is not, by itself, a complete victory. All of that is true.
But your conclusion — that defending the Constitution therefore accomplishes nothing — is where your reasoning breaks down completely.
You are measuring the Constitution against a standard it was never designed to meet alone. No constitutional document anywhere in the world delivers democracy by itself. It requires institutions, enforcement, political pressure, civic mobilisation and international accountability to give it teeth. The failure is not the document. The failure is the absence of the sustained reform campaign that should have accompanied it. That is a separate fight — and it is one that still needs to be fought. But you cannot fight it without the constitutional foundation that gives it legal standing.
Here is the critical point you keep stepping over: the Constitution, imperfect and unenforced as it is, remains the legal basis on which every court challenge, every election petition, every human rights case and every reform demand is grounded. Remove it or gut it, and you remove the legal architecture that makes any of those challenges possible. You are not left with the same broken system. You are left with no system at all.
Your question — what will we have accomplished — has a direct answer. We will have preserved the legal ground on which the real fight, the fight for reforms, for free elections, for accountability, must be built. That is not nothing. That is everything, because without it the next battle cannot even begin.
Defending the Constitution and fighting for electoral reforms are not alternatives. They are sequential. You cannot do the second without first winning the first.
The fight against the Bill is not the end. It is the condition for everything else that follows.”
If blocking amendment No. 3 will not stop Zanu PF rigging the next elections and thus perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship, this is a repeat of the 2017 military coup. Then we should focus on fighting to end the curse of rigged elections.
Zanu PF throw ED2030 Agenda which has now morphed into the Constitution Amendment No.3 because the party did not want the nation to discuss the very fact that Zanu PF blatantly rigged 2023 elections.
Like it or not amendment No. 3 is a decoy. Conning opponents to chase their shadows is a well documented Zanu PF modus operandi. The biggest question here is are we smart enough to see it?
Zanu PF is a rogue regime and any one who believes Madhuku's claim that amendment will never happen is naive, to say the least. This regime was responsible for Gukurahundi massacre, the 2008 Operation Mavhotera Papi and 2017 military coup; these acts are much worse steam rolling amendment No. 3 without a referendum!
@ SAPES
We can either defend the constitution by fighting amendment No. 3 or focus on demanding the implementation of the democratic reform to ensure free and fair elections. The truth is we cannot do both!
Like it or not the opposition are fighting amendment No. 3 and are aligning themselves for participating in the next elections. They have participated in flawed elections in the past and will do so again. Opposition leaders like Tendai Biti, Madhuku, Mwonzora, Chamisa, etc. have all participated in flawed elections in the past and they will do so again.
@ Blessed
So we should believe another one of Chamisa’s lies because Wilbert Mukori does not have solid plan? The sheer stupidity of that argument is nauseating. We cannot hold those in power to account because there are some nincompoops who believe leaders are demigods. No wonder we are a failed state.
@ Gladys
Chamisa lied and he MUST and WILL be held to account. I am not here to pander to your idiotic foolishness. Chamisa is not a demigod - get that into you stupid head!
@ Shumba
Address the issues raised or shut the f— up! Idiots like you who just want to stifle meaningful debate are the cancer the nation must cure ourselves of.
How typical! You cannot address the issues raised and so you resort to your usual knee-jerk reaction - censorship and no doubt would reach for a gun is you had it! Sh***t!
@ Lindo Ndlovu
Zanu PF would be history by now if MDC/CCC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms when they had the chance to do so especially during the GNU. If we had diligently held these village idiots to account from the word go.
Chamisa, like every other public official, will be held to account - that is not negotiable.
“No to 2030!” Yeah right. What a simpleton!
Very interesting! In Zimbabwe we have our own noble-born who live in the West and yet continue to support the Zanu PF dictatorship from which they have ran away from!
