"Libya's Gaddafi was never about African unity, and pan-Africanism. He was about Gaddafi." Professor Lumumba.

@ PROF. PLO Lumumba & Africa

Gaddafi Was Never About African Unity — He Was About Gaddafi

The myth of Muammar Gaddafi as a great Pan-African unifier needs to die. He was not a visionary trying to liberate the continent. He was a classic power monger — a dictator who stayed in power in Libya for 42 years by crushing all opposition, and then tried to export that same model of dominance to the rest of Africa.

Look at the pattern. Everything he called "unity" was always centered on himself as the leader.

When he pushed for the United States of Africa, it wasn't a democratic union of equals. It was a project where he demanded to be named the first president, the king of kings. He literally had hundreds of African traditional leaders crown him "King of Kings of Africa" in 2008 after paying them off. That is not Pan-Africanism. That is personal empire-building.

His so-called generosity was a tool of control. The billions he poured into the African Union, into buying votes, into funding rebel groups and governments — that money wasn't charity. It was leverage. He bought loyalty. He funded coups and counter-coups across Chad, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Sudan to destabilize governments that wouldn't bow to Tripoli. A true unifier builds institutions. Gaddafi bought dependence.

At home, he proved he had no interest in empowering people. He dismantled every institution in Libya, banned political parties, banned a free press, jailed and killed dissidents, and left the country with no constitution and no succession plan. A man who refuses to share power with his own people for four decades is not suddenly going to share power with an entire continent.

His dream of an African gold dinar and a single army was not about freeing Africa from the West. It was about making Africa dependent on Libya's oil wealth and Libya's military. He wanted to replace French and American neo-colonialism with Libyan neo-colonialism — with himself at the top.

Gaddafi didn't want a united Africa. He wanted an Africa that he ruled. His Pan-Africanism was just a bigger stage for the same dictatorship he ran in Tripoli: one man, absolute power, no questions asked.’

Once again you have hit the nail on the head.

Disempowering the ordinary people and dismantling the democratic institutions is a favourite tool of many dictators. In Zimbabwe Mugabe and now Mnangagwa has undermined the country’s state institutions by appointing Zanu PF loyalists.

In the rural areas the two have stubbornly refused to grant rural povo title deeds to even one acre of land on which their mud huts stand. This is a carry over policy of the white colonial regimes.

In 1975 the renowned Economist and Banker, John Robertson, advised Ian Smith, the Prime Minister of Rhodesia, that giving the blacks in the rural areas title deeds to even one acre of land would give value to the land and motivate the blacks to build decent homes and take good care of the land. This made economic sense, there was no denying.

Ian Smith said no because he feared an economically empowered black will be demanding political empowerment next. He was not ready to give the blacks the vote.

John Robertson gave Mugabe, Prime Minister of independent Zimbabwe, the same proposal - give rural blacks title deed to an acre or two of land. Mugabe too said no and for the same selfish political reason that economic empowerment would take away Zanu PF’s economic dependency leverage over the masses.

Mnangagwa has ruthless imposed this policy by demolishing decent homestead and commercial properties in rural areas under the pretext the owners do not have title deeds. He and his Zanu PF ruling elite have title deeds to the former white owned farms hundreds of thousands of acres each; seized from the owners in the chaotic and violent 2000 to 2010 land redistribution.

The ruling elite did not pay a penny for these seized farms. And now they have title deeds, they are subdividing the farms and selling them off for a fortune!

So it is ok for Mnangagwa & co. to own 100 000 plus acre farms and the same buffoons have insolence to deny povo ownership of just 1 acre of land on which their mud hut stand. Just 1 acre!

The right to own property is a universal human right. The right to own land meant more to the ordinary Zimbabwean than “One man, one vote!” Millions risked, livelihoods, limbs and over 300 000 lost their very lives in the fight for land and human dignity. It is heartbreaking that 46 years after independence millions of Zimbabweans are having to fight for the same rights and dignity!

For the record, Mugabe considered himself a Pan-Africanist and many believed him! When Muammar Gaddafi was killed, Mugabe considered himself the heir apparent and was disappointed was never crowned Africa’s king of kings!

@ Dr Mataranyika

"Those who perceive Chiwenga as corrupt and incompetent what are they doing other than writing long essays on social media, this type of politics against Ed and zanu pf will never work and usher new direction for suffering masses, ten years or 20 years people are just twitting and expecting change this is ridiculously bankruptcy."

You have not said whether "those perceiving Chiwenga as corrupt and incompetent" are right or wrong. Surely it is important to resolve that particularly when there are those who are arguing that Chiwenga should be considered the next president!

The truth is Chiwenga is indeed corrupt and incompetent and you just do not want to hear that. I am to here to say what you want to hear but what you MUST hear!

Of course, it is nonsense that saying the truth has failed to bring change. If idiots like you had listened to the warning in 2027 that Mnangagwa is just another corrupt and incompetent Zanu PF buffoon then he would not be in power today.

Idiots like you have many, many excuses for repeating the same foolish mistakes over and over again one excuse is claiming the rational solution has not worked.

"Democracy, free, fair and credible elections do not work!" the village idiots will argue. Ask them when did Zimbabwe ever hold free, fair and credible elections! The idiots cannot answer because Zanu PF has never ever held free and fair elections.

Of course, it is nonsense to say democracy does not work when you have never tried it!

It is one thing to say "writing long essays on social media, this type of politics against Ed and zanu pf will never work." Please tell us what will work?

@ Zinhu

What Chiwenga did or did not do with his former wife is a separate issue that must not be confused with his suitability as a national leader. Chiwenga and Mnangagwa spear headed operation Mavhotera Papi to punish Zimbabweans for having dared to exercise their right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

Mnangagwa and Chiwenga should have been send straight to Chikurumbi for the part in Operation Mavhotera Papi!

Are you saying because they played a part in the liberation war they also have the divine right to deny povo the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life? This is the kind of foolishness that has left us stuck as a failed state.

@ Dr Eng. Mudiwanashe

Some of these things are very true and captured in the intelligence files take during Mugabe one Vingirai publicly gave ZANU campaign funds and secretly gave some MDC ,he is not the only one.ndosaka maiona kana wicknell kuoffice kwatsvangirai akasvikako ,kwachamisa akasvikako kwamugabe akasvikako but it's very difficult to give details on these public platforms but l fully agree with Biti."

When you look at the many things MDC/CCC leaders have done over the years; including the failure to implement even one token reform during the GNU, the participating in flawed elections, the failure deploy election agents even when they had the funds, etc., etc.; corruption is the only logical explanation for it.

Mugabe bribed the MDC/CCC leaders with the trappings of high office and lots and lots of other goodies besides. The details of the other goodies are starting to come out now!

MDC/CCC leaders are sell outs, many Zimbabweans will curse themselves if they knew how much suffering and death Chamisa & co. have caused over the years.

@ T Moyo Game Change

"Why usingabvunza Zanu pf kuti why isingade kuita implement ma reforms."

I have asked MDC/CCC leaders to account for their failure to implement the reforms. I know you do not like to see Chamisa & co. held to account because you think they are demigods. They are mere mortals and they MUST account for sell out - that is not negotiable!

@ African

“The post relies heavily on anachronistic political framing, attempting to litigate historical reform failures as though Zimbabwe's structural and political landscape is frozen in time. Dwelling endlessly on past transitions does nothing to change the present reality or fix today's broken systems. You cannot rewrite yesterday's history books while tomorrow's laws are being drafted, making this focus on the past a clear exercise in political escapism.
At the same time, dragging out tired, personalized attacks against opposition leaders serves as a transparent smoke screen designed to divert public scrutiny away from the critical CAAB 3 issue. Instead of engaging with contemporary governance, structural reforms, or the immediate socio-economic threats facing citizens today, the post relies on recycled political mudslinging to change the subject because confronting current policy failures is too difficult.
Furthermore, the writer sets up a crude logical trap through a false dichotomy, implying that anyone who refuses to join this personalized witch hunt must view politicians as demigods. This lazy strawman misrepresents the nature of oversight; holding leaders accountable does not require indulging in toxic crusades or obsessive character assassination. Real accountability is systemic, institutional, and policy-driven, rather than a theatrical vendetta disguised as tough questioning.
Ultimately, demanding retrofitted accountability while ignoring the current legislative battlefield shields those benefiting from the present political status quo. True political engagement requires dealing with the governance challenges of today rather than using historical grievances as a convenient distraction from pressing national developments.”

Do you know why Christianity is still anchored on the 10 Commandments, Moses brought down from Mount Sinai, over 3 000 years ago? It is because the Commandments are still as relevant today as they were 3 000 years ago.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because Zanu PF continues to blatantly rigged the elections because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement the democratic reforms these last 26 years years including the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the best chance ever to implement them. And when some one flags this serious problem some idiot argues the matter must be swept under the carpet because it is in the past.

“The post relies heavily on anachronistic political framing, attempting to litigate historical reform failures as though Zimbabwe's structural and political landscape is frozen in time. Dwelling endlessly on past transitions does nothing to change the present reality or fix today's broken systems.” the moron argues.

No wonder we are a failed state! How is it possible that anyone can be so shallow, thick and slow! Mankind is supposed to be a creature of reason, for Pete’s sake!

You are just a well educated moron! Zimbabwe has plenty of very articulate professional, university graduate and professors even, who can regurgitate what they learned but are incapable of original thought and common sense.

Zimbabwe needs to implement the democratic reforms if we are ever to break the double curse of rigged elections and bad governance. Implementing the reforms and holding the sell outs to account who sold out on reforms will remain on the national agenda until they are implemented. You can fume and froth all you want - that is not negotiable!

Leave the intellectual thinking to those with the brain. You are a moron!

Former finance minister Tendai Biti has claimed that ZANU PF senator Kudakwashe Tagwirei financed the opposition MDC Alliance in 2018 and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in 2023. Biti made the claim on X in response to a user who asked who had funded the two formations during the respective election cycles, replying with one word: “Tagwirei”. He did not provide evidence to support the claim. — Agencies.

The modus operandi is for individual looting for dear leader to cream off some of the looted wealth and use it to “buy off” the opposition. Brother Paul explained this in 2023 Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary.

So Chiwenga must be president because he is the one who help Mnangagwa to get into power, Mnangagwa has failed and now it is Chiwenga’s turn! Has it ever occurred to you that there is more to the process of deciding who should be the next president?

For example, that every Zimbabwean MUST have a meaningful say on who becomes the next president? Has Zimbabwe ever held free, fair and credible elections?

After 46 years of blundering from pillar to post and the nation sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss the idiot has learned nothing and so keeps repeating the same foolishness of swapping one dictator after another.

"Kupedza nguva kubvunza vanhu vakatadza kuvaka even one blair toilet muHarare since 2000 up to this day.."

True! The issue here is not only directed at the sell out politicians but also at the voters. Why have the people allowed these leaders to do nothing and get away with it for 46 years and counting?

"If zanu is funding opposition it means the opposition leadership is more corrupt that chiwenga, the fact that they are doing it clandestinely doesn't mean they are better than chiwenga, if the whole opposition is getting funding from aspiring zanu pf presidential candidate what does it mean, do you think tagwirei is doing that for free, this defines why opposition failed to take power."

The spirit is willing but the intellect is weak. So Chiwenga is a better candidate than the opposition because he is bribing the opposition.

Has it ever occurred to you that both Chiwenga and the opposition are not suitable?
