"Mnangagwa to build one million homes by 2030!" Building of "collective" not started but demolitions "individual" have! W Mukori

President Dr ED Mnangagwa Targets One Million Homes by 2030

“His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ambitious target of delivering a minimum of one million housing units by 2030 underlines Government’s commitment to improving living standards, expanding homeownership and accelerating Zimbabwe’s march towards Vision 2030. Anchored in the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), the programme positions housing as a key driver of economic growth, job creation and social transformation. Through strategic partnerships with private developers, financial institutions and local industries, the initiative seeks to mobilise investment, expand construction activities and create opportunities for thousands of Zimbabweans.

Beyond providing decent shelter, the one-million-homes target presents an opportunity to build modern, sustainable communities equipped with roads, clean water, electricity, sanitation, schools and healthcare facilities. The programme will also stimulate local industries through increased demand for cement, steel, roofing materials and other construction products, creating employment and supporting enterprise development. Guided by the philosophy of “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,” the housing drive reinforces President Dr ED Mnangagwa’s vision of an empowered, prosperous upper-middle-income society by 2030, where development translates into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens……..🐊✊"

Mnangagwa has been in power for 9 years now since the 2017 military coup and in the 9 years the economic situation has not improved. Indeed, many would say, it has got even worse. Zimbabwe’s export of gold, diamonds and other resources has increased considerably since the coup and, other than the posh cars and other luxuries for the ruling elite, there is little else to show for it.

Corruption was bad under Mugabe and it has gone into overdrive under Mnangagwa. And let us be blunt - corruption is the mother of criminal waste of human and material resources and thus the enemy of development and progress.

Many people in Zimbabwe would be outraged by the sheer stupidity of the headline - “President Dr ED Mnangagwa Targets One Million Homes by 2030” especially those who had their homes and properties reduced to rumble under the pretext the owners did not have title deeds to the land. So individuals are not allowed to build decent homes for themselves, Mnangagwa alone can build the homes.

Chairman Mao Zedong introduced collective farming in China through a multi-stage transition from early land redistribution (1949–1953) to radical people's communes during the Great Leap Forward (1958–1962).

It was a great leap into hell-on-earth.

The disruption of farming, mandatory communal kitchens, and unrealistic state quotas triggered the deadliest famine in human history, resulting in an estimated 15 to 55 million deaths from starvation, exhaustion, and state violence between 1959 and 1961.

Peasants were stripped of private land, tools, and livestock, forced into massive communes of 30,000 or more people, and lost individual incentives to produce food

Joseph Stalin tried a similar thing with the same disastrous consequences.

Mnangagwa is Zimbabwe’s answer to China and Russia’s Mao and Stalin respectively or be it the brain dead buffoon variety.

Mnangagwa is committed to build one million homes because the recipients of these homes will be beholden to him. Since he does not have the intellectual ability to mobilise the resource to build these homes millions of Zimbabweans are condemned to live in mud huts and will be denied title deeds to even one acre of land on which the mud hut stand.

Meanwhile the programme of demolishing decent homes individuals build for themselves will continue.

Chairman Mao Zedong’s implementation of forced agricultural collectivization and people’s communes—most notably during the Great Leap Forward (1958–1962)—resulted in catastrophic human, economic, and political consequences. [1, 2]

Human Consequences

The Great Chinese Famine: The disruption of farming, mandatory communal kitchens, and unrealistic state quotas triggered the deadliest famine in human history, resulting in an estimated 15 to 55 million deaths from starvation, exhaustion, and state violence between 1959 and 1961. [1, 2]

Loss of Private Property and Life: Peasants were stripped of private land, tools, and livestock, forced into massive communes of 30,000 or more people, and lost individual incentives to produce food

Key Stages of Collectivization

Land Reform (1949–1953): The Chinese Communist Party confiscated land from landlords and redistributed it to hundreds of millions of impoverished peasants. [1, 2]

Mutual Aid Teams and Cooperatives (Mid-1950s): Farmers were initially organized into smaller mutual aid teams and lower-to-higher-level Agricultural Producers' Cooperatives, pooling land and tools while sharing labor and yields. [1, 2, 3]

People's Communes (1958 onward): Launched as part of the Great Leap Forward, individual smallholdings were abolished and merged into massive rural communes (often holding 20,000+ people or thousands of households)

Mnangagwa target to build one million homes by 2030. This is no doubt part and parcel of the so-called vision 2030. "How many homes has he built in 9 years he has been in power'" one might well ask? Other than the handful of match-box houses built for a few war veterans last year; none.

The more pressing question to ask is: Why is the regime demolishing decent houses built be individuals in the urban and rural areas? The usual excuse is the individuals did not have title deeds to the land. Needless to say the regime has made it near impossible to get title deeds especially in the rural areas.

What is happening here is a repeat of Chairman Mao Zedong's 1958 to 1962 Great Leap or be it implemented by the brain dead variant of the Chinese dictator. Millions of Zimbabweans are condemned to live in mud huts, denied right to own property, etc. for Mnangagwa's selfish political reasons!

Mnangagwa says he will not pay civil servant the 13 th cheque bonus this year because of economic "constraints". It the truth be said, he is right - there are serious economic constrains.

What is of real interest here is that Mnangagwa is admitting the economic constraints three months after passing and signing into law Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) granting him and the regime 2 additional years in office bonus. Their reward for the country's economy boom, set to increase the nation's GPD per capita three fold to US$6k by 2030 guaranteed. Hence, vision 2030.

The truth is the economic boom is a lie, vision 2030 in a mirage!

The people of Zimbabwe have a duty to themselves and posterity to scrap CAB3 and make sure elections schemed for 2028 go ahead and they are free, fair and credible. To postpone elections on the basis of lie, a mirage, is the most idiotic thing this nation can do!

Zimbabwe is a failed state.

People like Zinhu Zinhu do not see Chiwenga as a corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrant because they do not see Zimbabwe as a failed state. They have a selective memory they sees only what they want to see and so they see Chiwenga liberation war contribution and discard his post independence role contributing to Zimbabwe being a failed state.

"Libya's Muammar Gaddafi was never about African Unity or pan-Africanism. He was about Gaddafi!" said Professor Lumumba.

Of course, Professor Lumumba is right. Gaddafi was a dictator who wanted absolute power for himself. He destroyed Libya's state institutions and when he died the institution which should have restore order were not there. The mistrust in the country was now so deep rooted there is still chaos in that country to this day.

Gaddafi blazed a path that many other dictators have followed. First Mugabe and now Mnangagwa has denied the rural povo title deeds to even one acre of land, appointed Zanu PF loyalist in key institutions like Police, Army, ZEC, etc. for selfish political gain. Like Gaddafi, Mugabe considered himself a pan-Africanist and was disappointed he was never crown Africa's king of kings!
