"Strong minds discuss idea, weak discuss people!" Chamisa followers have condescended to worship him. W Mukori

Former MDC Alliance and the Citizens Coalition for Change Organizing Secretary Amos Chibaya has claimed that Zimbabweans do not follow political parties but people,” reported Bulawayo 24.

"Look at the 2023 elections, there is no MP or Councillor who had more votes than Chamisa that tells you what, people in Zimbabwe do not follow a party name but the one who was anointed by God, whether the party is called Mandebvu, Mberikunashe or Mberihakunashe, they follow their leader.

"The reason why Chamisa got more votes than yours, it's because people want Chamisa and they would simply vote for you because they would have been given three ballot papers and could ignore the MP and Councilor. The evidence is there, let's go for by-election without him and see," said Chibaya.

He went on to say Chamisa had managed to stop Zanu-PF from getting a majority in parliament but some renegades were reaping what they didn't sow and gave Zanu-PF two-thirds in parliament.

Of course, Chibaya is right people are blindly following wherever Chamisa lead them. This is typical where the followers have no clue what is going on and so give up their right to think for themselves and to hold the leaders to account. This is what has undermined the nation’s hopes of building a healthy and functioning democratic nation.

The ancient Greek were right democracy - government of the people, by the people and for the people - is impossible unless the said people are educated, knowledgeable and are diligent in the duty of holding those in power to account. The Chamisa followers have none of these qualities. None!

Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one token reforms and hence the reason why Zanu PF has continued to blatantly rigged elections. Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders during the GNU and the forgot about the reforms. The Chamisa followers has failed to realise the blatant betrayal even now with the benefit of hindsight.

Chamisa conned his wildebeest herd followers to participate in last year’s elections, promising CCC would win big because he had “plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop hopes.” Of course, he was lying.

The herd was warned repeatedly that Chamisa and company were hell bent on participating in the flawed elections out of greed and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. The herd did not heed the warning because their minds are impermeable to reason and incapable of thinking for themselves.

'Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people,’ observed the great Greek Philosopher Socrates.

Amos Chibaya is right the average Zimbabwean is still stuck on hero worshiping mortal and not just an mortal but one who has already proven that he is corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. The electorate should focus on ideas, policies and hold the leaders to account for failing to deliver of their promises.

No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state and, with such a hopeless electorate and no change in the horizon, we are doomed to remain a failed state for generations!

"EXPECT NOTHING NEW!" warned Chamisa. For once, he is being brutally honest. "Takagarira guyo sembw!" W Mukori

EXPECT NOTHING NEW EXCEPT AND UNTIL THE OLD DIES..And it’s a painful process. The old must cease to exist for the new to kick in and subsist. It may look impossible but we will make it because #Godisinit Have a blessed Friday and a great weekend!!” said Nelson Chamisa on his X page.

Many people were left confused and angry in equal measure when they read this and for good reasons the nation has pinned its hope for democratic change on Chamisa for decades. Of course, they are angry to hear that they have been waiting in vain. “Kugarira guyo sembwa!” as one would say in Shona.

But if the truth be said, Chamisa is, for once, tell the people the truth. Many cannot bear to hear the truth but hear it they must.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement the necessary democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections, the prerequisite for any meaningful democratic change. After 23 years including the 5 in the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so, the opposition have not implemented even one token reform because they have been waiting for the old guard to die!

Whilst they wait, the MDC/CCC leaders have come to an amicable arrangement with the Zanu PF old guard, they are letting Zanu PF keep all its dictatorial powers including the carte blanche powers to rig elections, they will con the public to participate in the flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF political legitimacy. Chamisa and company would get a few gravy train seats as their reward.

Whilst it is true that in another 50 years, by 2070, the last of the generation that fought in the war of independence will be died and buried. Still that will be no grantee of political change and renewal.

Mnangagwa is feverishly working on him staying in power for a third five-year term as president. His long term plan is for him impose his successor and who better than one of his own flesh and blood. Mnangagwa may well fail to impose his own North Korea style dynasty, just as Mugabe failed but we can be sure the Zanu PF dictatorship will survive and thrived as long as the cosy Zanu PF CCC relationship is allowed to continue.

It is for the people of Zimbabwe to wake up to the reality that Chamisa and his opposition friends will never implement any democratic reforms, if they failed to do so during the GNU when they had all the tramp cards, it is naive to expect them to do so now when Zanu PF has all the trump cards! For once, Chamisa is being brutally honest - the nation must expect no change and hence the reason why MDC/CCC has delivered none these last 23 years!

If the people of Zimbabwe are still serious about ending the curse of rigged elections and bad governance then they must start that change by replacing Nelson Chamisa and company with competent opposition leaders who WILL  implement the democratic reforms.

Opposition leaders like David Coltart have confessed of the opposition leaders’ greed but few have bothered to listen.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

EXPECT NOTHING NEW!” Chamisa is warning and after 23 years with not even a token reform implemented and the nation in deep, deep economic and political trouble; it would be very foolish of us to continue to ignore these warnings.

President Hichilema is guided by Zambia's interests not failed opposition like Chamisa and rightly so too. W Mukori

It is a historic fact that Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends shot themselves in the foot not once but twice in terms of the vaulting ambition of ever wining ruling Zimbabwe. First it was none other than Chamisa and company who insisted in participating in the 2023 election with no reforms. “I have plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop hole,” Chamisa boasted. “God is in it!”

How can anyone believe Chamisa had plugged the vote rigging loop holes when the country did not have something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Everyone knew he was lying; everyone i.e. except his ignorant and gullible followers who are easily conned and they participated in the flawed elections with their usual blind zeal.

SADC, AU and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC election observers condemned the August 2023 Zimbabwe elections as flawed and illegal. Chamisa and company had the golden opportunity to redeem themselves of the folly of having participated in the flawed elections by refusing to take up the few gravy train seats they had won in the flawed elections. Greed got the better of them again, for it was greed that forced them to participate in the first place; and this was the second time CCC shot themselves in the foot.

Like it or not by taking up their seats CCC were ipso facto endorsing the elections as having been free, fair and credible. The opposition’s argument that the elections were free and fair in those constituencies in which they had won is just nonsense.

The failure to produce a verified voters roll, for example, affected all the constituencies without exception. Even if there were a selection of constituencies in which the election was free, fair and credible; elections must be judged on the basis of the whole and not selected parts.

As much as SADC would have wanted to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy on the basis of the regional body’s own election observer team’s damning report; CCC pulled the rug from under their feet by accepting the gravy train seats.

Instead of acknowledging their own serious shortcoming Chamisa and company are off at a tangent blaming others for their own failures.

“Chamisa and his colleagues are furious over President Hakainde Hichilema's increasingly positive posture towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Furthermore, President Hichilema is now pushing for the removal of all sanctions,” reported Bulawayo 24.

"Our contacts in Lusaka say ED and HH phone each other every week. This is dangerous for us and all opposition parties in the region. Hichilema must wake up," said the source.

"Despite the apparent setbacks, Chamisa is finding solace in the assurances he received from his friends within the SADC Secretariat, who told him that they would remain solidly behind him," said the source.

“Several Zambian political analysts have dismissed Chamisa's accusations as hogwash. They reminded Chamisa that Hichilema was not guided by failed foreign opposition leaders but by Zambian interests. They stressed that Hichilema was an African statesman not a leader of some fanciful regional opposition grouping.

“Meanwhile diplomats in Gaborone have dismissed claims that the Zimbabwean opposition has spies within the SADC Secretariat.”

Of course President Hichilema is right in talking his Zimbabwe counter part, President Mnangagwa. It is no secret that President Hichilema endorsed the SADC election observer team’s damning report Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections and would have wanted to see the regional body deny Zanu PF political legitimacy. The reality is, SADC has done nothing and he, being a realist, has accept it and moved on.

Besides what would him stop talking to Mnangagwa accomplish? Nothing! Indeed, it would be very foolish for Zambia to conduct her foreign policy to suit some one as confused, corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless as Nelson Chamisa! Very foolish indeed!

Chamisa is a mere mortal who MUST be accountable to the people and we must condemn this Chamisa Chete Chete foolishness. W Mukori

We really need to get over this idiotic view that some leaders are infallible demigods who must never ever be criticised much less held to account. The worst crime anyone can commit in Zimbabwe is to criticise Mnangagwa or Chamisa especially when the criticism is valid.

Criticise Mnangagwa and you will be subjected to all manner of harassment, intimidation and even send to prison. Zanu PF rigged the elections but instead of addressing the evidence of the flawed and illegal process the regime will accuse you of being a puppet of the West with a regime change agenda.

Criticise Chamisa and the Chamisa Chete Chete mob will be after you day and night accusing you of hating Chamisa and working for Zanu PF. The mob would lynch you, if they could. And yet it is Chamisa and company who ARE working for Zanu PF.

Zanu PF has retained all its carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections thanks to MDC/CCC failure to implement even one reform in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. And by participating in flawed elections out of greed Chamisa and company have given vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

It is a great pity that even “respectable” journalists have succumbed to the idiotic public paranoia and personality cult foolishness; Chamisa is not only a mere mortal but one with a proven track record as corrupt and incompetent. Why should he not be held to account for failing to implement reform and thus allowing Zanu PF to rig elections.

Journalist should be educating the people and not be the cheer-leaders of this idiotic Chamisa Chete Chete fools’ brigade!

Our political discourse has been reduced to meaningless prattle for two main reasons:

i) As much as many would claim that they are democrats and would like to have a democratic Zimbabwe they do not subscribe to democratic values such as respect of truth and facts. The level of ignorance and down right stupidity amongst our people is shocking. How can you have an intelligent debate about free, fair and credible elections with some one who does not know what constitute free, fair and credible elections.

ii) Whilst most Zimbabwe would readily subscribe to the notion that all those in public office must be democratically accountable to the people many Zimbabweans out there, from both sides of the political divide believe this should only apply to everyone else but not their estimable leaders. Zanu PF dismiss all criticism as western sponsored regime change agenda. Nonsense, what has outsiders got to do with Zanu PF rigging elections, for example. The opposition think they should never be held to account since they are not the ruling party. Nonsense too since the opposition should have implemented reforms during the GNU and did not have to participate in flawed elections out of greed.

As much as we would like to be a healthy democracy, we are far from being anywhere near it! If you do not even have the intellect to distinguish facts from fiction and to appreciate the importance of truth and reality in life; it is little wonder we are a failed state.

Socrates — 'Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.’

All our discourse is anchored in trivial matters, a reflection of the weakness of our minds.

Zimbabwe is kleptocracy, not a democracy, here povo are accountable to the politicians - tail is wagging the dog. W Mukori

In a healthy and functioning democracy, “a government of the people, for the people and by the people,” as US President Abraham Lincoln envisaged; all political power is invested with the people. The politicians are servants of the people, public servants, and therefore accountable to the people.

The very fact that the people can, if they so decide in a majority vote, to remove the politician from office is the ultimate expression of the power of the people. The very essence of democracy and, it must be said, the guarantee of good governance because it has forced the politicians to always place the people’s interests above their own!

In a totalitarian autocracy cum kleptocracy such as we have in Zimbabwe today, the very antithesis of democracy, the ruling elite have usurped the people’s power so much so the politicians do as they damn well please and the people are powerless to stop them.

Yesterday President Emmerson Mnangagwa officiated at the handing over of 100 twin-cab Isuzu trucks to the Chiefs, a regular occurrence in Zimbabwe dating back to soon after independence. In an interview with Trevor Ncube Dr Simba Makoni reveal how, within a few weeks of getting into power in 1980, the late Zimbabwe dictator, Robert Mugabe, replaced the Peugeot 406 Ian Smith gave his minister with Mercedes Benz E-Class limousines. The fleet of limos was not budgeted for, more significantly, this was a luxury the nation did not afford.

Before long the ministers had more than one limousine and the practice had spread to other public institutions like the Army and Judiciary.

“It was normal for parastatals like ZISCO, NRZ or ZESA to spend millions buying cars and mansions for their CEO and senior managers when the body was failing to perform its core function and paying the wages of the low ranking workers,” explained Dr Makoni.

The primary purpose of the political patronage system was to buy the blind loyalty of the beneficiaries. Mugabe’s ministers were doggedly loyal to him. “Mose murivakadzi vaMugabe!” (You are all Mugabe’s concubines!) Margaret Dongo scolded her fellow Zanu PF MPs and Ministers in exasperation at how they all cowed to every whim from the dictator.

What Mugabe did in 1980 with the giving of these limos to his ministers was to kick started the political patronage system, the Chef culture, and over the years it has grown to be the monster behind the totalitarian autocracy cum kleptocracy we see today. Zanu PF has perfected the art of vote rigging the elections, eroded the people’s power to hold the regime to democratic account and thus freeing the regime to do as it damn well pleases.

It must be said, the Zanu PF dictatorship would not have survive these last 23 years if MDC/CCC leaders themselves had avoided the patronage honey trap. Robert Mugabe saw to it that Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had all the trapping of high office; the infamous Mercedes Benz E-Class limos, very generous salaries and allowances, a US$ 4m mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. And in return, the MDC leaders throw the reforms straight out of the window.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life; they will never rock the boat!) boasted one Zanu PF crony when asked why MDC leaders were not implemented the democratic he reforms during the GNU. The crony knew what he was talking about since he was a seasoned Mugabe concubine himself!

We, the ordinary Zimbabweans have played our part in turning Zimbabwe into the dysfunction failed state it is today by failing to secure the people’s freedoms and rights. When Zanu PF thugs systematically eroded our freedoms and rights it was incumbent on us to demand and fight for those rights.

It is no exaggeration to say we, Zimbabweans have been our own worst enemy in that we have not responded to the need for us to be educated, informed and diligent, demanded of a healthy democracy. Zanu PF has rigged elections these last 43 years because many of us do not even know what constitute free and fair elections.

Many Zimbabweans are so ignorant and naive they have yet to realise that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless even after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented. The Acceptance of CCC leaders’ failure is a necessary prerequisite first step in the search for new leaders who will implement the reforms.

It is very disappointing indeed that not only have many Zimbabweans failed to see Chamisa as a failed leaders they are treating as an infallible demigod. They are very angry with those have dared to question Chamisa let alone hold him to democratic account. In their personality cult zeal they are stifling debate and the very essence of democratic accountability!

The real tragedy is that Zimbabwe’s upstart and buffoon politicians have taken full advantage of the people’s ignorance and downright stupidity to usurp the people’s power to hold politicians. And so the upstarts and buffoons are wielding the whip and the people are at the business end. The tail is wagging the dog, the politicians are mercilessly whipping povo!

Can't squander money "greasing" Chiefs when "Masvingo Province has one ambulance" complain CCC/Blue Train hypocrite. W Mukori

“ZanuPF's ED Priorities Misplaced From Voters!!” wrote Patriotic Papa JC

“Just imagine Masvingo General Hospital the biggest and referral hospital in the province of more than 2 million people has one functional ambulance.

“Just imagine Mnangagwa decides to donate Chiefs with state of the art vehicles. He is doing this to thank Chiefs for oiling the 23 August 2023 election rigging machinery.”

Patriotic Papa JC is none other than Jefferson Chitando, MDC MP for Masvingo during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe bribed the entire MDC leadership; the 110 MPs, 30 ministers and deputy minister, 2 deputy PM and 1 PM; with the trappings of high office and, in return, ignored implement the reforms for five years. Chitando was one of the MPs.

It is a great tragedy indeed that public funds are being squandered buying chiefs brand new vehicles when the nation’s basic services such as health care have all but collapsed. How can a Province like Masvingo have only one working ambulance!

What is equally tragic here is that Zimbabwe would not be in this mess still if only Chitando and his MDC/CCC/Blue Train colleagues had implemented the democratic reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging elections. After 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU, they have not only failed to implement even one token reform, they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

It is rich that Chitando is now admitting that Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections and is thanking the “Chiefs for oiling the 23 August 2023 election rigging machinery”. Did Chamisa not dismiss all talk of Zanu PF rigging the elections because he had “plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes”?

Of course, Chamisa was lying; he knew Zanu PF was rigging the elections, knew that participating would only give the regime legitimacy and, most important of all, knew that Zanu PF was offering a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. He and his CCC friends could not resist the bait. Chitando, Chamisa and everyone with half a brain know all these facts for they are well documented.

Mnangagwa gave the Chiefs new vehicles before the 2023 elections and must have other reasons for “greasing” their palms yet again so soon after the last elections. It is no secret that with a super majority in parliament, thanks to the Sengezo Tshabangu recalls of elected CCC MPs, Mnangagwa now needs the 18 Chiefs in the senate so be certain of a 2/3 majority here too. With 2/3 majority in both chambers, Mnangagwa can scrap the two presidential term limit.

Chitando and his CCC/Blue Train colleagues should spare us the buckets of crocodile tears they shed at criminal worse of resources buying Chiefs new cars when they took their share of the bribes and, worst of all, it is because of their treasonous betrayal we are in this mess!

"Cyclone Chamisa sweeps through Masvingo!" Just call it "Cyclone Zanu PF team B" and be done with it! W Mukori

“Cyclone Chamisa sweeps through Masvingo Province.” reported Wezhira Munya.

“Pro-Chamisa Masvingo Province Citizens have come in numbers and filled Mucheke Hall and there is an overflow. Some Citizens are gathered outside Mucheke Hall because the space in Mucheke Hall. Some are sitting on the floor.”

What we are witnessing here is personality cult, the Chamisa Chete Chete, mentality in action. Because given Nelson Chamisa’s well documented track record as a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless political leader; all this euphoric hero worshiping is typical of those who have taken leave of their senses.

How many of these people know that Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends failed to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections even when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU? Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and the rest is history!

Zimbabwe IS a failed state because we have been stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and murderous ruling party, Zanu PF, those last 43 years. Chamisa and company HAD the golden opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and they wasted it.

And we, the people, have lacked the wit to realise CCC leaders have sold out even now, after 23 years of risking all to vote them into power and they do not even one token reform implemented to show for.

That so many Zimbabweans should be caught up in this Chamisa Chete Chete personality cult madness bespeaks of a nation with eye to see but not the intellect to comprehend. A very tragic reality, in itself! But that there should be anybody, nobody at all, encouraging idiotic midsummer madness in any way much less for selfish political gain is unforgivable.

Most nations get the government they deserve. There is no denying that we in Zimbabwe certainly deserve this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its MDC/CCC acolyte, “Zanu PF team B” as some people now call it!

“Cyclone Chamisa” will never ever implement any reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the 2028 elections, point number one. Two, Cyclone Chamisa will con his brain-dead followers; with the usual assurances he plugged all the vote rigging loop holes and “God is in it!”; to participate in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Nothing will change, nothing!

Indeed, we should just call “Cyclone Chamisa” cyclone Zanu PF team B and be done with it! After all Chamisa et al have sold out on reforms to Zanu PF in power these last 23 years. Rest assured Cyclone Chamisa will participate in flawed 2028 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy!
