AU says it is "possible to have free election" in Zimbabwe - AU selling the people out of cowardise!

All the people of Zimbabwe want is to have their basic and fundamental right to free and fair elections restored. Mugabe has denied them this right for 33 years now.

It is hard to see how this basic right can be restore in the current political atmosphere in which Mugabe and Zanu PF still have their dictatorial powers. This election is not going to be free and fair because not even one democratic reform was implemented.

So what does Commissioner Aisha Abdullahi mean it is "possible to have free and fair elections in Zimbabwe. But we cannot guarantee that it will be the most perfect or optimum of situations."

This is just the AU abandoning the politically oppressed ordinary people and do what the AU has always done side with those with the political power. This is the AU selling the weak out of political cowardice!

@ Robobo

You are right; the AU will have a body bag count at the end of the day and whatever result they get they will say it could have been worse. In other words Mugabe can threaten, beat and rape as many people as he wishes; the AU will hardly notice.

As for rigging the elections by denying millions a vote, Zanu PF spending billions of dollars on its election campaign whilst state institutions are starved of funds to pay for basic essentials like ballot papers, etc.; Mugabe can do as he pleases.

The AU considers Mugabe one of their own; they have never cared about the common people’s rights and freedoms including their right to a free and fair election and even the right to life itself.

@ Yepec

"Strategies proposed at a point, bring democracy." What are you yapping about? What were the strategies behind not implementing not even one democratic reforms and what democratic benefits did they bring.

Tsvangirai and his MDC friends promised democratic change but only as a means to win votes; once in power they promptly forgot about the changes as soon as they got into power. Mugabe and Zanu PF promised freedom, liberty, justice, etc. before independence and we all know what has happened these last 33 years.

In a rare show of frustration SADC leaders openly criticized Tsvangirai and his MDC friends accusing them becoming "too comfortable in government, forgetting their presence was meant to create an environment conducive for credible, free and fair elections."

Tsvangirai got his $3 million mansion, did his globe-trotting, chased his women of ill repute, etc., etc.; when it comes to comfort Tsvangirai and his MDC friends certainly had the time of their lives!

There are people like you, Yepec , who simply do not want to see Tsvangirai for the incompetent and indecisive leader he is just as there are many Zimbabweans who, even to this day, refuse to Mugabe for the ruthless tyrant he is. As long as there are idiots like Zimbabwe will never ever get out of this mess because there will always be leaders like Mugabe and Tsvangirai ready to exploit you naivety.

@ Chimbwido

Yes the white enslaved and exploited blacks for centuries but the last 33 years it is Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs who have systematically crashed the blacks' hope and dreams.

We have a problem right now but idiots like you Chimbwido and Mugabe say we should not address this problem because we must we deal with historic problems caused by "former colonial power". It is idiotic to be obsessed about the past whilst doing nothing about the present and thus the future.

This tyrannical Zanu PF rule must be removed and it will. It is a great pity that MDC has wasted the many chances to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship; still the reforms are more urgent now than ever!

@ Mike

I hope you are not saying that as an excuse for why Tsvangirai failed to get not even one reform implemented. Tsvangirai failed to get even one reform implemented because he is an incompetent and indecisive leader, that is the fact.

All this denial is what is holding the nation back because if the people had accepted this basic truth a year or two ago even then they would have forced Tsvangirai out of the leadership position. The new MDC leader would have implemented the reforms and we would be talking of something else right now!
