If Mugabe tries to fudge reform talks then he will be staring at the empty ZimAsset begging bowl for a long time!

When Mugabe rigged the July 2013 elections he thought it was going to be business as usual for him and his cronies. They would pick up where they left off in 2008 when they were forced to form the “two headed monster called the GNU”, as Mugabe called it.

It would have been business as usual if Zanu PF could rig economic recovery – real economic recovery meant addressing the causes of the economic meltdown like corrupting which Mugabe had ignored over the years, it would not be business as usual if he did. Mugabe had a plan for rigging economic recovery, the $27 billion ZimAsset. Sadly for him the West was not fooled and so they refused to contribute a penny to ZimAsset. Not even the Chinese would contribute even one Yuan for him to rattle the begging bowl with.

After a year of staring at the mocking empty ZimAsset begging bowl and a fast collapsing economy, the regime does not have enough money to pay civil servant let alone anything else, Mugabe come to his senses. He has admitted he cannot rig economic recovery and accepts there is need to talk.

It is surprising was Tsvangirai’s reaction to call for talks; he was ecstatic!

“I notice the emerging consensus on my call for dialogue. The same call has been made by international institutions, Cabinet ministers, economists and civic society,” said Tsvangirai. He is very excitable and gets easily carried away!

If it was left to Zanu PF alone they would have Tsvangirai and some of those wishy-washy civic groups to the talks precisely because Mugabe knows he will run rings round the idiots just as he has done in the past! But Mugabe must know that adding a totally discredited Tsvangirai to his equally discredited regime will not fool SADC much less those with the money to finance the economic recovery!

Most international donors including the mediocre UN abandon MDC when they saw the rubbish Copac constitution they had help fund to the tune $100 million. When the GNU begged for more money to pay for the stakeholders' meetings, the referendum on the Copac constitution and for holding the elections themselves none of the donors paid a penny.

SADC and the AU and the last of the international community who still supported MDC finally deserted the party is dismay after they warned the party not to take part in the July 2013 elections without reforms and they were ignored!

It is clear to see why Tsvangirai is drumming his chest like a silverback mountain gorilla; he is a man of little intellect and is easily fooled. Mugabe has only to give him a ministerial car and he will be over the moon; the tyrant will tell him jump and Tsvangirai will be asking how high.

Does Tsvangirai have the $ 27 billion to bankroll the ZimAsset plan? No he does not. He does not have a penny. He and his usual kitchen cabinet would be looking to be added to the civil servant wage bill.

If Mugabe thinks bringing Tsvangirai through the back door to spruce up his Zanu PF image will fool anyone then he had a lot to learn. Not even SADC much less the more savvy international community with the money will be fooled.

A Zimbabwe stakeholders' meeting of the same half-wits who attended the Copac Constitution Stakeholders' Meeting in 2012 will fool no one. The only meeting worth attending is one that will deliver free, fair and credible elections at the end of the day. It is really naive for anyone to think that Mugabe and Zanu PF can be trust to host such a meeting!

As for our silver-back mountain gorilla, let him can drum his chest; he will never ever be king of the mountain. We all make mistakes but the blunders he has made, especial his failure to get even one reform implemented, proved beyond all doubt that Tsvangirai is an idiot!

Zimbabwean made a big mistake in having voted Tsvangirai into high office over the years; people did not know he was incompetent. It would sheer folly for the nation to once again entrust the destiny into the hands of an idiot, knowing he is an idiot. As for the international community they know better than treat Tsvangirai any other way than as the village idiot he is.

Soon after he was sworn in as Prime Minister in 2009, Tsvangirai visited all the capitals of leading Western countries asking them to fund Zimbabwe’s economic recovery. He told the world that Mugabe had "changed". Of course that was not true, the tyrant had his thugs beating up white farmers and corruption was going on as before. No one in the West was fooled and they send Tsvangirai back empty handed.

Mugabe can try to fudge political reform by calling discredited stakeholders like Tsvangirai just as he has tried to rig economic recovery; he will fool no one. Tsvangirai can have another tour of the West but he will return to Zimbabwe, once again, empty handed!

So Mugabe has a simple choice either hold serious talk with serious participants and move the country forward or hold meaningless talk with discredited individuals like Tsvangirai and stare at the mocking ZimAsset begging bowl for a bit longer. Whatever he decides he will have to hold serious talks sooner or later, there is no way out!

@Chimbwido

Mugabe has finally accepted that he cannot rig economic recovery the next thing is to ensure there are meaningful talks leading to meaningful change. We are working on that and it will hap-pen, That is what I call being methodical! You are totally confused because you are used to the chaos in Zanu PF!

Zimbabwe is in this ridiculous situation were the nation went from a net exporter of food to a net importer and now we cannot even import because we are broke! Mugabe took away the farms without think who will feed the nation. That is the chaos you are used to.

ZSD are come up with something new, something fresh called common sense approach. Why would we need a manifesto now when there is no chance of free and fair elections. Get the reforms implemented first and thus pave the way for free and fair elections then set up a party structure, produce a manifesto, etc.!

Holding talks with a totally discredited Tsvangirai will not solve the country's economic problems because the international community, who have the money to kick start the economic recovery are not interested in another GNU that will deliver nothing as happened with the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe and Tsvangirai can go ahead but they will only be wasting time! Yes really!

The trouble with people like you is that you have failed to get your head round why the GNU was a total failure even with the benefit of hindsight! If you did then you will see why SADC and the international community abandoned Tsvangirai for the village idiot he is!

Your stupidity is becoming the nation's problem because it is people like you who are holding the whole nation back. The country is in this mess because Tsvangirai was so stupid he failed to implement the reforms. We want real talk so the reforms the idiot failed to implement can be finally implemented. The nation must focus on that and not to be disrupted by his silver-back chest drumming.

Zimbabwe is in this mess because the country has more than its fair share of blind followers like you who will follow an idiot like Tsvangirai who has proven beyond all doubt that he is an idiot! What else do you want him to do to finally make you see him for the idiot he is! You need to open your eyes!

@ Realtalk

Do not mix me with Mugabe.

I have been calling on Mugabe to accept that he has failed to rig economic recovery which the tyrant is now doing.

The next thing is for Mugabe and Zanu PF to stand aside so that an interim administration can be appointed to implement the reforms that Tsvangirai should have implemented and to prepare and hold for fresh elections. Mugabe would only be disruptive in that interim admin.

As for calling back Tsvangirai "to revamp the economy". I would not want that village idiot any-where near anything.

Mugabe is calling Tsvangirai to these talks only because he knows he can twist Tsvangirai round his little finger as he has done in the past. Mugabe can give Tsvangirai whatever role he pleases in the Zanu PF government they two will be wasting the nation's time.

The international community will only step in to help Zimbabwe out of this economic and political mess when there is real political change and not yet another marriage of convenience between twiddle-dumb, twiddle-dumber and twiddle-dumbest!

SA and Botswana are threatening to send Zimbabweans back home.

The 250 000 Zimbabwean is SA will be going back home at a time when the economy is in an even worse state than ever.

In the past many companies were closing but with the hope of things changing if the Z$ was scrapped - which was one of the many causes of the country's runaway inflation rate of 2008. And true enough when the Z$ was scrap the economic recovery was quick and many of these companies reopened. This time companies are closing with very little hope of re-opening.

If MDC had implemented the reforms and the 2013 elections had delivered a government inves-tors and donors could trust and one that rooted out corruption and all the other myriad of prob-lems behind Zimbabwe's economic meltdown these economic will be growing. These returning Zimbabweans will have hope of getting a job and earning a living.

If only Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had implemented the reforms and had not been so breathtakingly incompetent!

The need for Zimbabwe to move quickly and implement the democratic reform, a pre-requisite of the economic recovery, cannot be overstated! The hundreds of thousands returnees will be adding to the millions unemployed already in the country. This is a ticking social time bomb!

It is the mob who change things in this world but the individual or a few individuals with a vision to see what needs to be done and with the courage and resolve to see the task through. Alfred Mavedzenge is one such individuals. MDC with all its party structure and good knows how many lawyers, engineers and other professionals were all bamboozles by ZEC and gave up.

The voters roll is the smoking gun in Zimbabwe's rigged 2013 elections to have allowed Mugabe to get away with not releasing the voters roll would have been to allow him to get away with treason - because vote ring is treason!

It is heartening to note that Zimbabwe still has a few visionaries!

"We must now rise up and fight this evil system that Zanu (PF) has created, which will not change unless challenged by many," you say. Well that is not true MDC had the numbers behind them. Did you not see the sea of red during MDC's rally last year. They did not change anything, I will be the first to admit it; but it was not because MDC did not have the numbers be-hind them; that they did.

The reason why Tsvangirai and his multitude of follows changed nothing is that they really did not have a clue what they wanted changed! They were just a herd of wildebeest milling behind the leader who too did not have a clue where he was going!

I think Zimbabwe would not be in this mess if the country had a handful even of individuals with a working brain and not the usual fatty tissue!

@ Rejoice Ngwenya

“I want to take ZANU PF’s offer for talks with a pinch of salt. When you trace the ruling party’s offers to talk, you will realise that they are always being dragged to the table," said Rejoice Ngwenya.

I agree with the latter part of Rejoice's comment; yes Mugabe has always had to be dragged scream and kicking to the negotiation table. There is no need to take the party's call for talk with a "pinch of salt" however because the force that has dragged Zanu PF to the table this time is a hell-lot more powerful that former SA President Thembo Mbeki it is called poverty!

Mugabe thinking he is the one ruling in Zimbabwe but there another force even more powerful than him - Poverty. Like her close cousin death, poverty has no respect for rank and status or party affiliation. Gone are the days when poverty was the unwelcome guest in the homes of the ordinary people, povo.

Today poverty walking straight in into the homes Zanu PF grandees like the late Nathan Sha-muyarira without even bothering to knock!

As many as 250 000 Zimbabweans are going to be sent back from SA this year alone. They will all join the millions on the unemployment and desperately poor - a rich harvest for the goddess poverty!

It is the growing power of poverty that forced Zanu PF to accept the need to talk to others as to how to deal with growing poverty and despair!

The solution is simple enough; it is corruption that is causing poverty and what is causing the corruption is the country's archaic political system of political patronage. So end political patronage and you will end corruption and, in turn end poverty.

It is a simple and obvious solution but impossible to implement, at least for Mugabe, because ending the patronage system meaning he can no longer reward the party loyalist with political appointments and bribes - the blood, muscle, bones and soul that have kept Mugabe and Zanu PF in power all these years. In short end the patronage system and you will have regime change.

Unlike Mugabe, I have no qualms about regime change. None! It was all nonsense having elec-tions in which there must be no regime change. It is an oxymoron! The stake choice we face today is end the patronage system, have regime change and save the nation from ravishing of grinding poverty. Or keep the system and Mugabe and Zanu PF in power for a few more months and allow poverty to stripe millions of people of all human dignity.

Ultimately the patronage system will end and regime change will take place because a system that deny millions others humans the basic rights and dignity is not sustainable.
