The ignorant can be educated and the crazy medicated. Alas! there is no cure for stupidity! NONE!
How true!
Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have brigades of stupid people who keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again - a hallmark of stupidity. The irony is that we continue to boast that we are one of the best educated nation in Africa.
In other words we have invested millions of dollars, sweat and sinew and all we have hundreds of thousands of of idiots with “O” level education or better and a very significant number even have university qualifications!
You cannot reason with the stupid, they are incapable of rational thinking. Experience is the best teacher, yes but only for those with still some active brain cells which repeated suffering can force the dormant cells back to live. The brain of the stupid has all but ossified into fat.
The stupid view leaders as demigods who can do no wrong, that is hardwired. This is why diehard Zanu PF supporters see nothing wrong with extending Mnangagwa’s stay in office by 2 years, followed by CAB3 and now there is talk of CAB4! Diehard MDC/CCC supporters will never accept that Chamisa is corrupt, incompetent, a liar and a conman!
The idea that ancient Greeks classified humans into "idiots, tribesmen, and citizens" is a popular modern interpretation of ancient Greek civic philosophy that frequently circulates as a viral social media commentary. While it captures genuine elements of how the Greeks viewed civic duty, the specific three-part breakdown uses a mix of real ancient etymology and modern sociological framing.
Here is how the original Greek concepts compare to the popular modern viral breakdown:
1. The Idiots (Idiotes)
The Viral Definition: A totally selfish, self-centered person who has no public philosophy, disregards community rules, and cares only about personal gain.
The Historical Reality: In ancient Greece, the word idiōtēs (ἰδιώτης) originally meant a "private person" or an individual who did not hold public office, as opposed to an official or an expert. Because Athenian democracy placed a massive premium on participating in the polis (public life), those who completely neglected civic affairs and focused purely on private matters were looked down upon. Over time, the term evolved from meaning a private citizen to someone unskilled, uneducated, and eventually, the modern meaning of the word.
2. The Tribesmen
The Viral Definition: A person with a narrow, clannish mindset who can only see the world through the lens of their specific ethnic, religious, or political group. They are loyal only to their group and suspicious of outsiders.
The Historical Reality: This category is largely a modern sociological addition used to contextualize contemporary political issues like tribalism and hyper-partisanship. While ancient Greece was originally organized by distinct geographic and ancestral tribes (phylai), the democratic reforms of Cleisthenes in 508 BC actually restructured these tribes artificially to mix people from different regions. This was done explicitly to break old clannish loyalties and force people to identify as citizens of the city-state rather than members of an isolated tribe
3. The Citizens (Polites)
The Viral Definition: The ideal community member who respects shared humanity, balances individual rights with the common good, and actively builds a flourishing society.
The Historical Reality: To the Greeks, a politēs (πολίτης) was a citizen of the city-state (polis). Being a citizen was not a passive status; it required mandatory active participation in governance, jury duties, and military service. However, the ancient Greek definition of a citizen was highly exclusive—it was strictly limited to free, adult, native-born males, entirely excluding women, enslaved people, and foreign residents (metics).

"Tadzokera kupiwa mbeu, etc. no more cars!"
Inodzi Zanu PF! The party is renowned for giving with one hand and making a big song and dance about it whilst robbing you blind with the other hand! Cars! What cars?
Only a tiny minority got cars. For many people all they ever got is a bicycle for war veterans and a box of chicken and chip. Mnangagwa got his term in office extended and the party got its dictatorial powers enhanced with passing of CAB3. Now it is time for the pay back surprise - the worsening economic situation means every one will suffer!

Wicknell Chivayo is died and President Ruto of Kenya is fuming, he gave Chivayo some money and now does not know where to begin in the fight to recover it! This is nothing new!
It is no secret that Wicknell Chivayo was a crook skilled in looting and hiding and cleaning up dirty money. Many African leaders including Mnangagwa have found Chivayo very useful. It is no secret that Chivayo was a useful conduit of looted wealth and paid up the bribes on Mnangagwa's behalf. No doubt Mnangagwa introduced Chivayo to President Ruto and many other African leaders.
Corruption in many African countries is rampant, the ruling elite and their cronies have become filthy rich, powerful and ruthless. Stamping out corruption is not going to be ease and yet we must stamp it out because millions of our people are living in abject poverty - the consequences of the rampant corruption!

"I stated that Chivayo was like James Bond of our time. It made me enemies. Whatever he did, some got announced. The Starlink deal was America and Elon Musk. He had access and opportunity to get it. Getting it is a dream for anyone in tech. Attacking that is an ethical error."
I for one was not angry that Chivayo got the star link contract, per se. I was angry that he did not get the contract on merit in a competitive and transparent process. You are failing to distinguish corruption from honest business.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we corrupt and incompetent leaders and, worst of all, we have millions of stupid individuals, so stupid they have made the same stupid mistakes again and again. They are so stupid they are refusing to acknowledge Zimbabwe is a failed state.
The ignorant can be educated and the crazy can be medicated. Alas! There is no cure for stupidity!

The ancient Greeks classified human beings into three groups. First the stupid for cares about themselves here, me and now. Second, the tribesman who have defend the tribe with the blind "us vs them" mentality. Today's "us" is subject to constant revision as the idiot default setting asserts its dominance. The third group they called the citizen, ideal community member who respects shared humanity, balances individual rights with the common good, and actively builds a flourishing society.
Zimbabwe is a failed state because as a nation we have performed as tribesmen at best and have very rarely, if at all, performed as citizens. In our infantile stupidity we have repeated the same foolish mistakes again and again. Ignorance can be cured by education; there is no cure for stupidity!

"Well, what matters is that when you're established, you're already vetted by politicians you've cultivated a relationship with and supported financially during their downtime. So there is a relationship of trust — a symbiotic relationship.
Then you look at the playing field in Zimbabwe: the amount of deposits that were required by Starlink and the capacity to deploy the project, getting help to interlock with the system, and the party affiliation that has been publicly stated — that if you're not one of us, you're not one of us.
Those things were not stated by him. Those rules were not made by him. Those rules were set by ZPF as an organization, that they take care of their own first, or those who helped them get to power.
So I'm glad you're not angry at the wrong person, because I'll tell you this: if Morgan of the MDC was president, this boy would have still acquired the Starlink deal. If Nelson had become president, this boy would have still acquired the deal."
You have not understood anything I said!
