Zimbabwean Economist say Zimbabwe is Least Developed Country and should accept that reality - only Mugabe's ego is standing in the way!

A Zimbabwe economist with the Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe (LEDRIZ), Prosper Chitambara, is arguing that Zimbabwe should accept the country has fallen into the category of Least Developed Country (LDC) and thus benefit from help nation so classified get. All the country’s economic benchmarks; low GDP per capita, substandard health and education services, etc.; shows Zimbabwe is an LDC.

Accepting the LDC label will mean the country will get most of her $12 billion foreign debt written off and the country will be granted favourable trade term in some markets like the EU.

In 1980 Zimbabwe was classified as a Medium Developed Country together with other countries such as Bolivia. We have fallen a long, long way in three decades. To accept the LDC label will be to acknowledge that fact and that is something Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies are not prepared to do. They would rather see millions of Zimbabwe suffer and die in abject poverty and despair than admit they failed.

“It is politics and nothing more. It is pride that they do not want to be seen admitting the mighty have fallen and Zimbabwe’s economy is in the doldrums but that is the reality,” concluded Chitambara.

It should be noted, however, that accepting the LDC label and getting the current debt written off, etc. will provide some temporary relief nothing more. The LDC will be nothing but a pain relief to a patient with a broken leg. We need to have the broken leg attended to before gangrene set.

The root causes of Zimbabwe’s spectacular economic decline are the three decades of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and, in the last decade, an all –out looting spree. These have gone unchecked because we have a ruthlessly brutal de facto one-party dictatorship. Unless and until we end this corrupt and repressive political system accepting the LDC label will confirm we have fit rock bottom but will do nothing to get us out of this hell-hole!

Nikuv has been reckless selling our hopes and dreams knowing fully well that Zimbabweans will say and do nothing. Indeed they were sure none of us will even realize what was going on, we are too stupid to do that! If anyone was awake to see what was happening Nikuv was certain they would be so consumed by their own self-doubt to do anything - to the blacks everything is "futile" and that is the reason they seat on their hands and do nothing. You are an accurate representative of the 99.999% of the blacks out there.

By saying something about Nikuv and the Israeli government becoming the biggest and most important partners to tyrants like Mugabe and working tirelessly to undermine all efforts to end tyranny in Zimbabwe and the region; I and a tiny few others are breaking the mould. We constitute the o.oo1%

I am proud to say I belong to the tiny minority with an IQ above what the rest of the world would consider normal. I am ashamed as a people the majority of Zimbabweans have an IQ far below that of an idiot which is why they are struggling to see Mugabe has just cheated them again although the tyrant rigged the elections blatantly!

I wish I could say Zimbabweans are smart but how can I say that when the reality says they are idiots!

@ Kemestry

Yes it is the same country Israel that is also busy exporting chaos and mayhem to Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa. Mugabe successfully rigged the 31st July 2013 elections with the help of the Israel company Nikuv who tampered and corrupted the country's voters roll so that nearly a million people were denied the vote whilst paid Zanu PF youths were able to cast multiple votes.

This was not the first time Nikuv was involved in undermining the democratic process in Zimbabwe. Nikuv was in Zimbabwe in 2002, once again rigging the elections in Mugabe's favour.

There are a few people fighting hard to nurture democracy in Zimbabwe and in the region but what chance do they have against a tyrant with all the nation's resources at his beckon and call and backed by totally unscrupulous devils who will sell the souls and dreams of millions of other humans for thirty pieces of silver.

What wrong have the long suffering people of Zimbabwe ever done to a single Jew that the people of Israel should be playing such a major role in seeing them suffer and die so miserably?

@ Obert Gutu

Obert Gutu is one of the most incompetent politicians of our generation. It was him and "motor mouth" Mwonzora who never stopped telling the nation how the Copac constitution would deliver all our democratic rights and freedoms including the right to free and fair elections. All efforts to point out the very serious shortcomings of the document fall on deaf ears.

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating; we have just had elections in which Mugabe and Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections exploiting the yawning weaknesses in the Copac constitution. People thought that reality will force the likes of Gutu to shut up and for once in his life think. No such luck!

He is off at a tangent again. " Africa is on a new trajectory of hope, peace, civilisation and socio-economic development," the idiot tells us.

The nation's hopes of forcing Mugabe to end this overbearing dictatorship have been dashed because Gutu and his MDC friends failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years. How is it then possible that we can still be on a new trajectory of hope?
