In an
interview with NewZimbabwe.com, MDC national spokesperson Josh Mhambi said they
made a mistake by going into elections without electoral reforms.
"The conditions still remain the same but we also note we did indicate from the outset that we were not happy with the conditions then, even when we were participating in the 2013 elections. Now if you repeat a mistake twice it becomes a decision.
"We did make the mistake of participating under those conditions and the immediate benefit is that we are avoiding endorsing a fait accompli," said Mhambi.

1 + 1 =

That is
a mistake for someone with more than two years of formal education much less
one with seven years of primary education. It is a mistake because after seven
years of formal education one is expected to know a lot more complex arithmetic
than the basic one plus one.
MDC
went into the GNU knowing the parties in the GNU had a raft of democratic
reforms to be implemented to ensure the next elections were free and fair. SADC
heads of State reminded Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, David
Coltart and all the other MDC faction leaders to implement the democratic
reforms but nothing was done.
Mugabe
granted the MDC leaders all the comforts of political power, the generous
salaries and allowances, the ministerial cars, the opportunity to globe-trot at
public expense and, for Tsvangirai, the $ 4 million Highlands mansion. Mugabe
pampered MDC leaders for a good reason, he did not want any reform implemented
and he bribed them to oblige.
“MDC
vadzidzi kudya vanyerere!” (MDC leaders have learnt to enjoy the gravy train
trappings without rocking the boat!) was the pithy remark from one Zanu PF
crony as to why MDC had kicked the reforms into the tall grass!
SADC
leaders literally begged MDC not to take part in the July 2013 elections
without any reforms as Samuel Sipape Nkomo has since admitted.
“It is common knowledge that
Lindiwe Zulu (President Jacob Zuma’s international relations adviser) advised
us,” admitted Nkomo. “Zuma also advised us and even the Sadc Heads of State
meeting in Maputo (Mozambique) also advised not to participate in the elections
without electoral, media and security sector reforms, among others.”
MDC
knew from the start of the GNU about the raft of democratic reforms they needed
to implement, had five years to implement them, they were reminded again and
again to implement the reforms throughout the five years and at the eleventh
hour they were begged not to take part in the elections without reforms and
still they failed to implement even one reform and went on to take part in the
elections! How can anyone in all honest claim that was a “mistake”!
MDC
leaders were paid and paid well to ignore the reforms and all advice to
implement the reforms; it is an insult for any MDC leaders to tell us now that
they made a mistake. They just do not want to admit that the betrayed the
nation, they are corrupt, and some admit to a less crime of making a mistake.
Deliberate
and calculated mistake + paid to make the mistake =
corruption
that is
as clear and straight forward as 1 + 1 = 2!
