Tsvangirai has suspended Elton Mangoma from the MDC party
and, no doubt, Tendai Biti will be next! The two are fighting a rare guard action
to stay in the party.
Anyone worth their salt should have never joined MDC
since it was clear that the party was full of deadwood and was headed by one of
the most incompetent leaders of our time.
Former
USA Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Chris Dell described PM Tsvangirai in a secrete cable
leaked by WikiLeaks as a “flawed and indecisive character”. Time has proved
beyond doubt that the Ambassador was right.
So if
any Zimbabwean, with the benefit of hindsight, still fails to see Tsvangirai as
the hopeless case he is; they will never ever see it. Those who do will only be
glad to admit their folly of having joined and will walk out of MDC.
The party
will never achieve anything of note because it has too much deadwood!
The
fact that people like Tendai Biti and Elton Mangoma are fighting tooth and nail
to stay in the party speaks volumes about the two's own competency. The two
were kicked out of the party, literally and physically too and yet they are
going back for more. There are some things in this world worth fighting; a totally
dysfunctional MDC is not worth the candle.

MDC accomplished nothing of note since the party's formation in 1999 to the 2005 because there were no quality leaders.
After the 2005 split people said the bad apples had been taken out - depending on which faction one supported. The truth is neither faction showed any leadership quality as both were completely out foxed by Mugabe and failed to get even one democratic reform implemented. It was therefore clear that there were still a lot of deadwood in each fac-tion.
And you solution is that the two factions once again "merge" under the same blundering and breathtakingly incompetent Tsvangirai - he will not want to relinquish power now or ever - and "hammer the message home that 31 July was stolen", you argue. You have jumped the gun; if there had been quality leaders in either MDC faction then the elections would not have been stolen in the first place.
As a nation, we seem to be obsessed about unity and quantity; merge of Zanu PF and PF Zapu was coached in the same language of a united and strong voice. All we care about is that the message is broadcast out loud and care not about the content of the message. Nonsense repeated again and again from the roof top is still nonsense.
It was not the lack of quantity in the opposition or that they were not united that has stopped the nation making the most of the many chances to bring meaningful democratic change in Zimbabwe. It was the lack of quality leaders.
There are no quality leaders in any of the MDC factions, that is a well-established fact. Breaking up the party and/or re-merging all the frag-ments of the party is but a futile exercise because it will never produce anything that is not there!
The only reason Zimbabweans hanging on to Tsvangirai’s cocktails, just as they continued to trust Mugabe for decades - long after it was clear that he was a corrupt and murderous tyrant – is because they are too lazy to define what a quality leader is and then to go out and search for such a leader.
People get the leaders they deserve and by Jove we certainly deserve nothing better that this tyrant and his idiotic acolyte! Those who refuse to learn from history will be forced to repeat the lesson – and pay dearly for it of course – until the message is hammered home! And that is the only thing that will be hammered home, here!
@ Sarungano
You admit that Tsvangirai was a waste of space from the word go and it was the MDC party, members and leaders alike who elected him to lead. It I therefore to say the leadership and the members were waste of space.
You should not confuse the cause and those fighting for it. The fight for democratic change in Zimbabwe is a just cause but not everyone who present themselves to lead that fight is a competent leader. Indeed in this case one can even say Zimbabweans have supported Tsvangirai more because he was not Mugabe; they believed anyone else as long as they are not Mugabe would do. Well Tsvangirai has turned out to be so incompetent Mugabe completely out foxed him with the greatest of ease.
The people have yet to learn that it is not enough to have a just cause they have to elect competent leaders to lead them in the fight!
@ Ruvarashe
If going back to MDC is comparable to eating vomit then going back to Zanu PF is comparable to eating s***t!
@ Jazzy E
MDC was never a democratic party and never had any quality leaders. The people of Zimbabwe had their eyes fixed on Mugabe and getting him out of power they did not stop to think about the party or its leaders they were voting to bring the democratic reforms. All they wanted was someone, anyone, to do it. The truth is not everyone could do it and certainly not a blundering idiot like Tsvangirai.
Implementing the reforms should have been a walk in the park but, as we now know, Tsvangirai failed to get even one reform implemented.
To talk of Tsvangirai "hijacking" and the "democratic principles" of the MDC misses the point completely. Tsvangirai was never a competent leader and MDC was never a democratic party; you assumed all these things.
The only thing remotely democratic in MDC was in the name. Anyone so easily fooled as to believe MDC would deliver democratic change just because the party called themselves a democracy, "a party of excellence" deserves to be betrayed and sold-out which is exactly what MDC has done!
@ Dombodema
That is an interesting comparison; if political parties are tight jeans to the leaders like Biti. What are they to the ordinary people who have paid the heavy price of these leaders and parties failures and blunders?
@ Asijiki
So you admit there was dirty money involved in the birthday and wed-ding parties; that is significant. Now would you also admit there many, many other instances were more dirty money was used e.g. Mugabe paying for his Borrowdale mansion, paying or the $ 5 million Hong Kong mansion, paying for Grace's dodgy $ 1 million lorry buying business deal, etc. It is to see that the sum total of the dirty money for Mugabe alone adds up to something significant.
It was not Mugabe alone who has proven to be corrupt; his VPs, Ministers, etc. have all been corrupt. Add their contribution to the pile of dirty money and it is now a mountain.
Now think what the effect of sucking all this money out of the national economy was. Of course it has been devastating and, indeed, it was the years of mismanagement and corruption that have destroyed the Zimbabwe economy with the tragic human suffering and deaths there for all to see.
I do not expect you to see the connection between the corruption and the economic melt-down it has brought, obvious as that might be to anyone with any common sense precisely because you do not have common sense! If you had you would have seen the connection by now.
You will never see the reality and tragedy of what Mugabe has done in Zimbabwe because the lens cap to your mind has been super-glued shut! You are a certified moron.
All your wittering about some people making the mistake of thinking themselves "cognitively superior than others" is true. In this case your stupidity is beyond question and, whilst I will be the first to admit to being of average intellect, I can honestly say there is no question of me being better than a moron, you!!
@ So what???
The people in the USA, UK and all the other democratic countries are enjoying the freedom, liberty and economic prosperity that people in the other countries like Zimbabwe cannot even dream possible. It is reasonable to say the leaders in the democracies are not as self-serving as the corrupt and murderous tyrants in countries like Zimbabwe.
I have never said that I personally expected much from any of the MDC leaders; I have said it a thousand times and will say it again, none of them are any good. But the people of Zimbabwe certainly expected MDC to bring democratic change just as they had expected Mugabe and Zanu PF to bring freedom, liberty and economic prosperity.
The central theme of my argument is that MDC could have brought democratic change just as Zanu PF could have brought freedom and economic prosperity if the people had paid attention and elected quality leaders.
The problem is with the electorate; a poor and lazy electorate will never elect quality and competent leaders - that is universal fact! It is for that reason that the adage ‘people get the government they deserve’ is an empirical political truth!
All these mediocre leaders like Tendai Biti, Mugabe, etc. who are into politics for their own selfish gain are only taking advantage of the potent weakness of the electorate – who are so shallow thick and slow not to believe anything and will never see that they are being taken advantage of. Even if all the current crop of political leaders was to go there will a thousand others to take their places and take advantage of a naïve and gullible electorate!
@ Listix
You are right starvation has indeed set in before salvation!
The people of Zimbabwe have indeed prayed for salvation without knowing what it is exactly they are asking for. They said they wanted democratic change, for example, and yet they did not have the foggiest idea what these changes were and, worse still, neither did Tsvangirai, the man who was supposed to lead and get the changes implemented. He failed to get even one change implemented in all his five years in government but none of the people even noticed showing that they too had no idea what was going on
@ Ruwa
MDC has its own problems of poor leaders but Zanu PF problems are even worse and they af-fect the people since the latter are in power and have been these last 34 years. Corruption has destroyed the Zimbabwe economy and without the wealth to loot Zanu PF is breaking up.
Whilst other political parties are held together, at least in part, by a shared political ideology or principles. Zanu PF has no such ideology since the party ditched its scientific socialism years ago with the adaption of first Economic Structural Adjustment Programme in 1990. Mugabe has kept the party together by allowing the member be corrupt and to loot.
Now the national economy has shrunk so much that there is very little wealth left for Mugabe and his cronies to loot. They are fighting over the little wealth left like a pack of hungry hyenas.
All this infighting in MDC will shift the spot light from the many stories of corruption and the daily miseries of the country's economic melt-down has brought but only for a day or two. Indeed not even a day because all those seating in the dark with no clean water to drink and starving are not going to forget their misery or will they blame it on MDC but on Zanu PF.
Mugabe rigged the last elections and now he is going to wish he had not done so! The Zimbabwe economic melt-down is set to get a lot worse and the everyday the people will be reminded who is to blame for it all - Mugabe! And the people will hate him for it; 24/7 times 12 million people that is a lot of hate man-hours!
@ Whichfool
You are not going to have the evidence of the vote rigging whilst you are the judge, jury and executioner as well as being the accused!
Corruption has reached nauseating heights, the Zimbabwe economy is in total melt-down, unemployment is 80% plus, Mugabe rigged the 2013 elections, he murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans, etc., etc.
Mugabe's iron grip on power is as feeble as the man himself! The regime is imploding and there is nothing any one can do to stop it falling apart!
These are facts and I have not dreamt them up. If you think you can just wish them all away then it is you who is dreaming! Well dream on!
Jim Kunaka, a former Zanu PF Youth Leader and member of the notorious Chipangano Gang thug has been fleecing Harare City Council of $ 4 000 a day. The money was collected from bus operators using Mbare Bus Terminus and charged $10 a day.
Kunaka had become so arrogant he was reportedly “holding” the Town Clerk Mahachi, a Zanu PF heavy weight in his own right, and demanding money. Mahachi was fired by the Mayor of Harare for paying himself and other managers exorbitant salaries and allowances whilst the low paid workers were going for money without pay because the Council had no money left. The Mayor was overruled by the Zanu PF Minister and Mahachi was reinstated.
Kunaka is a thug and learned thuggary from the undisputed lord of the thugs and murderers; Robert Gabriel Mugabe himself. One does not rise to be a Zanu PF Youth leader without learning the ropes! If he could man handle Mahachi, Lord have mercy of the rest of us ordinary mortals with no political power much worse those perceived to be a threat to the Zanu PF dictatorship!
@ Made in Zimbabwe
In a rural constituency where the state is hardly spending anything since the school and clinics are so poorly funded it is nonsense that the state should then be spending astronomical amounts on MP's salary and allowances. These MPs see holding public office as a licence to fleecing the public. MPs should get their salary - pegged at that of Headmaster of a College, for example, plus a mileage allowance to their respective constituency of one round trip a week.
Zimbabwe is broke and we have to cut our dress in accordance with the material we have. The MPs should start by showing a good example.
@ Percy Malunga
Tendai Biti should have used his position in the party to get the reforms implemented and stop MDC blundering from pillar to post. He did not and the only reason why he did not is that he is just as incompetent as Tsvangirai.
Biti, the man you are describing as "suitable" to rule the country, was himself praising Mugabe - the corrupt and murderous tyrant - to the high heavens. He called the tyrant "unflappable" and the "father of Zimbabwe".
The trouble with Zimbabweans is that they too, like the MDC leaders, did not have the foggiest idea what they wanted and where they were going. It is therefore not surprising that the nation has had two types of leaders running and ruining the country; murderous tyrants or incompetent idiots!
If Zimbabwe is ever going to get out of this mess then it is important that we have an electorate that is willing to think and not follow blindly like sheep. After spend 34 years with their heads buried in Mugabe backside and then in Tsvangirai's backside the last think we want is the next generation to bury their heads in Biti or anyone else's backside.
@ Gr8Zimbabwean
You started well but ended badly. How do you expect to "reform" a party like Zanu PF?
You say MDC was "the only option" because you have never thought outside the box confines Mugabe defined for you - you, the people, are incapable of one single coherent thought and therefore you need leaders and a party to lead and tell you what to do. And so for decades you followed Mugabe and Zanu PF blindly like sheep. When it finally dawned on you that Mugabe was leading deeper and deeper into hell you went out looking for another leader and another party. The blundering idiot Tsvangirai presented himself as the answer and without thinking accepted him as the "only option".
If you refused to accept Mugabe's dictates and thought things through for yourself it will be clear that it is you the people who should know what you want and where you want to go and then find the leaders whom you can deliver on both points. Look at things from this angle it is clear neither Mugabe nor Tsvangirai fitted and therefore should have ever been elected!
Following blindly like sheep is the lazy man’s answer but, like everything else in this world, there is a price to be paid in this case the corruption, looting, brutal repression and the tragic human suffering we see in Zimbabwe today.
Zanu PF is too busy looting and staying in power; what reform are you talking about?
“Let those who have doubts about a stolen election stay the way they are. But everyone knows that the election was stolen – even grandmothers in rural Chiredzi, Muzarabani and Tsholostho – they all know that Zanu PF did not win; and you want to express doubts about that!?” Tsvangirai, that blundering idiot now tells!
Of course, even the grandmothers know the July 2013 elections were rigged; the important question is why Tsvangirai not challenged the result. He submitted the court challenge and then withdrew the court challenge; why did he do so when he had such a clear cut case than “even grandmothers” in the rural areas needed no help to see the vote rigging?
He is so incompetent not to see what even the grandmothers in rural areas could see then surely he must step down because even the old grannies have lost confidence in his leadership!
@ Staff Reporter
"THE PUPPET IS GONE … NOW WE GO FOR THE PUPPETEER!” Twitted Obert Gutu referring to the ouster of Mangoma and that the MDC is now going for Tendai Biti.
I agree with you, Obert Gutu is "one of the most effusive of Tsvangirai’s praise singers". Gutu and Mwonzora are MDC's "motor" mouths. Whilst individuals are supposed to think before they speak these two speak so much nonsense there is either no connection to the brain or else there connection id there but the brain itself is half died.
When it comes to calling someone a puppet, Tsvangirai is the puppet. For one thing Tsvangirai has yet to come up with one single original thing - other than all the bad things. Gutu, Chamisa and Mwonzora are now the new puppeteers and Tsvangirai is in even worse trouble!
@Rafique702
The idiot had five years to implement the necessary reforms to ensure the Judiciary was independent, he did not. Even with the biased judiciary it was for him to present all the evidence and lot the world judge, not just the court judges, for themselves whether the elections were rigged.
What use is it for even the old grannies to say the elections were rigged when none of their stories have ever been heard?
Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done! The old ladies the same with every one of us should have been given a chance to tell their story. By withdrawing the court challenge Tsvangirai denied all those bitter at being cheated by Zanu PF a chance to be heard and denied the world the chance to hear them!
I wish you would stop being an MDC apologist; if what has happened has not opened your eyes plus the benefit of hindsight one wonders whether you are eyes at all!
@ Jazzy
“He withdrew the court challenge because that would have jeorpadised his planned aqcusition of the Highlands House - akanzi na Mugabe mfana wava kufarisa i will kick you out of that house pronto if you dont behave......” you say.
Now that is almost certainly what happened. The irony is the idiot now wants to be seen as the one who believed the elections were rigged and do something about it!
