Mugabe
says the 2013 elections were free, fair and credible and the west must now engage
with his regime.
"Despite
this positive verdict, our detractors have remained trapped in their negative
posture," Mugabe said. "We call on them to review their position and
join us in re-establishing constructive relations.”
This is
the thing about tyrants and dictators; after decades of absolute power and
dictating to everyone they think they can dictate to the whole world. They
become so engrossed in their own inflated ego they fail to see the truth even
when they nose in rubber into.
Mugabe
is wittering after the West being “trapped in their negative posture” and thus
stopping they joining his regime in “constructive relations”. He cannot see
that even countries like China who have had nothing else other than a positive
relationship with him- indeed it was China that has stood form to stop UN
sanction being imposed of Zimbabwe – are themselves backing away him.
China
has pointedly refused to contribute not even a single Yuan into Mugabe’s ZimAsset
begging bowl. Mugabe was so sure China would; initial he said China would
contribute $30 billion only for the amount to be revised down to $ 10 billion,
$3 billion, $400 million and then not even one Yuan!
Mugabe
is desperate for foreign aid; the national economy has been in Intensive Care
Unit since the July 2013 rigged elections and without the foreign aid injection
it is not coming out of there. And therefore there would not have been a
stronger statement of its “constructive relation” with Mugabe than for the
Chinese to have contributed a significant amount to Mugabe’s ZimAsset begging bowl.
They did not even contribute a Yuan for Mugabe to rattle the bowl with.
Mugabe has
repeatedly said he did not need the West “Keep your England and I will keep my
Zimbabwe!” he said. Pride comes before the fall; he is so desperate for cash it
is him who sending his Minister to England begging bowl in one hand and hat in
the other asking the British to “join” him and give generously! Whatever next;
an apology from these “trapped detractors” and a signed blank cheque for him to
fill in the amount he pleases!
The
cold reality is the ZimAsset will remain mockingly empty and the economic will
continue to get worse until Mugabe resigns. He can go now or dilly–dally about
it but he can be sure of one thing the pressure for him to go will increase
with each passing day! The longer he delays his departure the greater the
pressure; the greater the pressure the higher the chance the whole thing will
simply explode in his face!

Former SA President Thembo Mbeki denied there was no crisis in Zimbabwe; "Crisis, what cri-sis!" he said. He has to eat his words as he chaired the negotiations that were to result in the GNU in Zimbabwe. I would like to believe that it was his mishandling of the Zimbabwe crisis that was to contribute to his early replacement as SA's president.
We all know that Europe, especially Belgium, is keen to re-engage with the government in Hara-re. Still, not even the starry eyed Belgians with their eyes on Zimbabwe's diamonds would have soiled their reputation by denying there was no chaos in Zimbabwe when everyone can see that is a lie! Ambassador Aldo De'Arricia has gone too far this time; I hope the EU withdraws him from Zimbabwe and spare any nation of his disservice by retiring him from any active duties.

Interesting, so the Chinese are investing £14 billion in Britain but could not even spare a single Yuan for their old ally Mugabe? Well you cannot blame the Chinese really, the have lots and lots of money but none of it to worst on an old crook like Mugabe. He has begged them $30 billion- no, $10 billion - no, $3 billion - no and $ 400 million and still the answer was NO! Mugabe finally got the message.
He is now back begging from the West! He will be told - NO!
The ZimAsset begging bowl has remained mockingly empty for nearly a year now; it must be getting at him now! Here is the man who has earned a world reputation of mocking Western leaders and is now being mocked to death by a begging bowl! Mugabe is finished!

You should send that comment to Ambassador Aldo De'Arricia, he can do with all the comforting messages he can get after that fcuk up!

"Italy has always had it’s own somewhat eccentric views on what constitutes good leadership," you said. Well Mugabe and his cronies sure have their own eccentric views of what constitute free and fair elections, good governance, free media, etc., etc. And Zimbabweans have paid dearly for it all. The last thing we want is someone rubbing our noses into it all by telling us that this is normal and we should accept it!
@ Publicprotector
Someone has to speak for the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans whose lives are misery. Do know what it means to be unemployed for one month? Well millions have been out of work for ten years or more. Whilst Mugabe had the money to spend on a $1 million birthday party and two weeks later $10 million on his daughter's wedding; there were 100 below the age of five dying of preventable disease every day because the health system has collapsed. Millions of Zimbabweans have lived for decades now without hope and human dignity.
I think it is right that those of us who can speak should speak against such criminal waste of ma-terial resources and such tragic human suffering. Those people are not animals; I would not treat my dog with such heartless indifference as Mugabe has been treating Zimbabweans.
Why should I be arrested and send to prison? I have never rigged elections and have never shed any innocent blood. We both know there are many people in high places in Zimbabwe whose hands are red with the blood of over 30 000 murdered since 1980! The wheels of justices turn very slowly; these murderers should have been arrested and punished decades ago!
You call yourself public protector? You mean the ghost public that voted for Mugabe last year? No wonder Mugabe is refusing to release the voters roll, the smoking gun of the rigged vote. But you can be rest assured, the truth about that rigged election is going to be told, every small detail!
Mugabe’s reign of terror is over and the wheel of justice is finally catching up with him and all his thugs. There is nowhere to hide; they will get to know what it means to be in jail – they so readily send others at a drop of a hat!
