Vince you
have change man! Many Zimbabweans, myself included, used to hold your views in
high regard because back then you really cared about the people and about
finding the way out of this nightmare. You have changed, now you are so
preoccupied with getting into power you are willing to go to bed with anyone!
“The important question to which I have no immediate answer
is; can or should those that have created and continue to defend the
circumstances which we wish to change be part of finding the solution to our
problems? To be more specific can we expect Zanu(PF) to be part of the
solution? Let us talk,” asked Vince Musewe in The Zimbabwean.
Vince we are talking of the men and women who have denied our
people their basic freedoms and human
rights including the right to a meaningful vote, justice and have even violated
the sanctity of human life to create a corrupt and ruthlessly oppressive de facto
one-party dictatorship. They have done all this to gratify their insatiable
appetite for political power, extravagant lifestyles and wealth. After 35 years
of tyrannical and ruinous rule they have murdered over 30 000 innocent
Zimbabweans and completely destroyed the nation’s economy. Millions of are
people are unemployed, 2 million live in abject poverty and millions more have
been forced to leave the country as political/economic refugees.
These Zanu PF men and women have never once shown an sign of
remorse but are in fact forever scheming how they should strengthen their
oppressive measures, rig elections, etc. to prolong their stay in power. How
can such animals be considered partners in the nation’s search to end the
dictatorship?
You are considering working with Joice Mujuru and the rest of
her People First followers. Of course these individuals are Zanu PF thorough
and thorough. Just because they have produced a manifesto in which they claim
to be democrats does not make them democrats. You want to work with them; go
ahead just spare us all the platitudes that they are democrats and therefore
part of the solution.
You have already joined up with Tsvangirai and his MDC
friends; that too is your choice. But once again please do not bother us with
justification as to why you have done so. Again we really do not care to hear
you string of excuses. Tsvangirai and his MDC friends failed to implement even
one reform during the GNU because Mugabe bribed them to kick the reforms into
the talk grass and they did just that.
Tsvangirai and his MDC friends betrayed the people of
Zimbabwe. They sold-out! If Zimbabwe was one of the countries with a healthy
and functioning democracy, i.e. with a well-informed and vigilant electorate,
Tsvangirai and his friends would have apologized and resigned from public life
for good before sunset on 31 July 2013. The Zimbabwe electorate is naïve and
gullible and most of them still do not have the foggiest idea what really
happened during the GNU and why Mugabe was able to rig the vote with such ease.
Just because the Zimbabwe electorate is naïve and gullible
and follow leaders like sheep does not change that MDC sold-out. Anyone who
serious want democratic change in Zimbabwe can never consider sell-outs like
Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, etc. a part of the solution.
The integral part of the democratic change in not just to end
the Zanu PF dictatorship but more significantly to end the system designed to
keep the people naïve and gullible. Creating a truly free and independent media
and ensuring there is freedom of expression are a good start done this road.
Tsvangirai and his MDC
friends’ refusal to resign and thus be held democratically accountable means
they are not seeking democratic change but are here to exploit the fact that
the electorate is naïve and gullible. Tsvangirai and his MDC friends do not
want freedom of expression and a free media; they not want it now and never
did.
There are only two occasions when MDC leaders cooperated 100%
with their Zanu PF counter parties:
- when voting to increase politicians salaries, allowances and other privileges
- in adopting measure to keep the electorate ignorant, naïve and gullible.
“Our common objective is to create a democratic state in
Zimbabwe underpinned by the respect for human rights and personal freedoms, the
reason being obviously that Zanu (PF) has failed to satisfy our aspirations as
a society,” you said.
Vince we have heard all these things said to us before
independence and for the last 35 years since independence even Zanu PF was
swearing they July 2013 elections were free, fair and credible straight after
they rig the elections. In other words even in the face of treasonous
violations of democracy we have been told we are a democratic nation.
If we are serious about creating a democratic Zimbabwe then
we, the people, must be clear what is demanded of ourselves for a healthy and
functioning democracy. A naïve and gullible electorate will never ever produce
a democratic system especial from a well-grounded autocracy as we have in
Zimbabwe. It is the duty of the electorate to hold those in or aspiring to hold
public office to account and any who fails to measure up must never be allowed
to hold public office. Never ever!
So in asking the people of Zimbabwe to sweep the pathetic
past track record of leaders like Morgan Tsvangirai, Joice Mujuru and, God
forbid, Robert Mugabe; you are asking the nation to do the very thing that have
made freedom, human rights and democratic good governance a mirage.
If we want to live in a democratic Zimbabwe then
we must start enforcing democratic standard today and not tomorrow or in 2018.
After being denied our freedom, liberty, justice human rights and dignity all
these years why wait another day? Freedom, liberty, etc. come with a price tag
– it is our duty to understand these freedoms and rights and, if they should be
denied, to defend and demand them back. What better way of demonstrating our
worthiness of these freedoms and rights than by our vigilance, resolve and
commitment to carrying out our duty in their defence; we must be prepared to
put our very lives on the line if necessary because having lost all our other
freedoms and rights we will have forfeited our right to life too.
