In the face of the corruption scandals should the public pay their bills - there is a conundrum or is it!

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) have help free a patient detained at a hospital for failing to pay medical bill. There is no law that allows the hospitals to detain anyone for failure to pay their bill.

This a real conundrum; should the patience at these government hospitals pay for the very poor service they got knowing full well that most of the fees will be looted which is of course the reason for the poor service! And here is the twist, if they refuse to pay there is the certainty that even the poor service will stop.

Whilst, I agree that the ZLHR did the right thing and threaten the Hospital with a law suit for unlawful detention of Gwaze for failing to pay a hospital bill. The law suit achieved the immediate need of getting Gwaze realised it has, however, created a bigger problem. The closing down of all hospitals in the country will create a bigger problem.

We need to sue the Cuthbert Dubes, George Charambas, Charles Mahachis, etc.; the frontline managers and directors of these public institutions who have been doing all this looting in the first place. Once these are safely locked up in Chikurumbi; we must then go after the next level of permanent secretaries and other high lever government officials who have allowed the looting to go on. Then go after the deputy Ministers and Ministers, get them locked away too.

By the time we have got all those hundreds of thousands of piranhas, catfish, etc. we would have collect the body of evidence, drain the pond of the mudded waters, to go after the man who has presided over all this corruption and looting, the crocodile!

The trouble with our media, civic society, etc. is that they have content going after the small fish whilst carefully avoiding the real big monsters. Threaten and harassing the admission clerk or the ward-nurse who are not the ones responsible for the looting of formulating admission policies will get the odd individual out of trouble but only make a bad situation even worse!

Zimbabwe's economic and political mess is not real a conundrum; other nations have faced the same challenges and we all know the solution that got them out of trouble will get us out of this mess too. It is a conundrum only because we have boxed ourselves in; we want to solve the country's problems whilst at the same time allow the Zanu PF dictatorship to do as they please!

We can end our suffering and this criminal waste of human and material resource by Mugabe and his thugs by dismantling the dictatorship or keep the tyrannical regime and continue to pay the price in tragic human suffering and unnecessary lose of human lives. It is naive to think we can have our tyrannical dictator and still have economic prosperity, justice, freedom, etc., etc.

Tyrants are tyrants precisely because they deny the people a fair share of the nation’s wealth and have to resort to brute force to ensure the people do not kick them out of power! There is no such thing as a benevolent tyrant! And Mugabe is certainly not a benevolent tyrant but a corrupt and murderous one. We must learn to deal with it or continue to suffer, period!

The regime is hoping that by allowing the individuals named in the corruption scandals that have come to light go through the process of being arrested, be detained, be dragged before the courts, etc., etc. it will take the sting out of these damaging scandals. The regime has certainly no intention of carrying out a thorough investigation of the corruption and get to the bottom of each and every scandal because it will implicate a lot more others including very senior Zanu PF leaders.

Zimbabweans do not trust the ZR Police to conduct a thorough investigation because they are corrupt. Their history of being partisan is well known and documented. And who does not know of just how corrupt and partisan the judiciary is!

Ordinarily the regime would have done nothing and saved itself a lot of bother confident that it will all blow over. This time the regime has been forced to act because the public mode demanded action.

Allowing the arrests have already confirm the scandals are true. The Court hearings will turn the allegations into facts. The big challenge for the regime is how to manage that process so that as little as is revealed without making it obvious this is fudge.

As for the individuals now in trouble, they will be instructed to co-operate with the regime and say as little as possible on the understanding that their lives would be hell-on earth if they did not.

Zimbabweans should ignore this carefully crafted legal dance designed to hoodwink them and instead concentrate on the tasks of getting this illegitimate regime out of office, implementing the democratic reforms and then the holding of free and fair elections.

The business of investigating the rampant corruption and looting cases must be carried by a democratically elected regime. This Zanu PF regime will never ever investigate it own wrong in any meaningful way! Stamping out corruption is important but only a reformed ZRP and Judiciary can be trusted to do a proper job.

Why I it a shame for everybody else to receive anything from a foreigner but ok for Mugabe and Zanu PF to so! Indeed the tyrant has even sold away the nation's treasures for a song in return for these so called donations!

Do not let yourself be sucked into these stupid arguments in which only Mugabe and Zanu PF are allowed to talk to outsiders and everyone else branded a traitor if you do!

The WB, IMF and the rest have stopped giving Zimbabwe any financial assistance because Mugabe failed to account for what he got. The nation is up to its ears in debt because of Mugabe.

If MDC have abused the money given to them by donors then the later will cut the funds; and it seems they have done that. Mugabe and his cronies have been robbing us blind for 34 years and we have been as helpless us infants!

@ Black Aristocrat

I AGREE WITH YOU THERE, THE VOTERS ROLL IS THE "SMOKING GUN" OF THE RIGGED 2013 ELECTIONS. MUGABE AND HIS VOTE RIGGING TEAM WERE PRETTY LUCKY THAT TSVANGIRAI OR ANY OF HIS MANY LAWYER/PROFESSOR COLLEGUES AND ADVISERS SAW THIS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS OR AFTER. THEY ARE SO BREATHTAKINGLY INCOMPETENT THAT MANY STILL DO NOT SEE IT.

THE LONGER MUGABE HAS CONTINUED TO DRAG HIS FEET OVER MAKING THE VOTERS ROLL PUBLIC THE MORE HE WAS DRAWN ATTENTION TO IT AS THE SMOKING GUN. THE POOR TYRANT, HE REALLY HAS RAN OUT OF EXCUSES WHY HE HAS FAILED TO RELEASE IT.

THE PRESSURE TO HAVE IT RELEASE MUST BE MAINTAINED. THE TYRANT MUST RELEASE THE ROLL OR ADMIT HE RIGGED THE ELECTIONS AND RESIGN. TSVANGIRAI'S SUGGESTION THAT THE NATION ACCEPT THIS REGIME AS A FAIT ACCOMPLI MUST BE DISMISSED WITH THE CONTEMPT IT RIGHTLY DESERVE!

THE NEXT ELECTIONS MUST NOT BE HELD UNLESS MUGABE HAS RELEASED THE VOTERS ROLL OR HE HAS RESIGNED - NO COMPROMISE OR NEGOTIATION ON THAT.

@ Common sense

Mugabe rigged the elections and have dictated what we the people can say and cannot say, do and cannot do, hear and cannot hear, who can and cannot vote, etc., etc. He has decried in his tyrannical way, as tyrants always do, that the voters' roll will not be made public. We must defy him and demand that the voters roll is made public or he resigns.

He had hoped this issue would be forgotten by now and yet eight months after he should released the roll; the issue is still on the national and international agenda. And he can be sure of one thing - it is going to be there until he release the roll or resign!

@ Yepec

I agree with you there; Makarau, Bhunu, etc. are apologists for Mugabe. But what about yourself? The apologist of MDC. What was that nonsense about MDC "yakambunyukidzwa" all about if not another stupid excuse for Tsvangirai and MDC's breath-taking incompetence.

Mavedzenge single handily taking on the system and its apologists head-on and you stupid and incompetent leader and the whole MDC party failed to go beyond Bhunu's office! Bhunu has kept MDC activist in Jail for years and MDC has been completely helpless to stop him.

When Tsvangirai walking into Bhunu's office with his court challenge of the elections result the later told him to piss off and the MDC leader left with his tail between his legs like a dog.

MDC "yakambunyukidzwa" my a***! Stop giving us stupid excuses, if you have nothing better to say shut the f**** up!
