USA Ambassador says the idea that sanctions caused the economic mess "does not hold up"!

The US Ambassador to Zimbabwe says Zimbabweans are the authors of the country’s mess!

“Zimbabwe’s economy has been through dramatic ups and downs in the last 15 years. You all know that better than I do. But the idea that targeted U.S. sanctions have caused Zimbabwe’s economic woes simply does not hold up to critical analysis,” Ambassador Bruce Wharton told his audience in Harare.

Mugabe has denied there was no corruption but the many stories of rampant corruption that have surface have settled that question for all time. As for the corruption and mismanagement being the root causes of the economic collapse; that too has been settled. Ever since one story after another of the rampant corruption have surfaced none of the usual suspects have dare repeat the nonsense of blaming Zimbabwe's economic melt-down on sanctions!

It is a great pity that the EU had just given the regime's lie of sanction another tank full of gas by lifting the sanctions.

The people of Zimbabwe need to face up to the tough questions and corruption and vote rigging are the tough questions of our time. Mugabe has used sanctions to take the nation's attention away from these two issues. Allowing him to re-introduce the sanctions again is not helping Zimbabwe in any way! I am pleased the USA and a few others countries have seen this and acted accordingly.

To start with the people should treat the country's political and economic situation with the seriousness and determination it demands. Mugabe blatantly rigged the elections and as far as Zimbabweans are concerned this was like water off a duck's back.

Months before that, Zimbabweans had agreed to go into the elections without even one democratic reforms having been implemented. Clearly the people had not been following to notice that MDC had been doing nothing for the five years in the GNU.

If we want freedom, liberty and economic prosperity then we have to work for it. For 34 years, we have allowed Mugabe to do as he pleased and we are now paying dearly for it!

@ Sound of blackness

MDC were supposed to implement a whole raft of democratic reforms as agreed in the GPA but failed to get even one reform implemented. If the people of Zimbabwe had themselves not been fast asleep then they would have forced the incompetent Tsvangirai to get off his backside and implement the reforms. They did not and now the nation is paying dearly for it!

Let me the first one to congratulate you for you are on your way to solving Zimbabwe's eco-nomic and political mess; you have taken your first steps to political enlightenment. You are asking the right questions and each time someone give you an answer you ask ten more questions and are never satisfied. Your brain is fired up and you will never be cheated and will never follow blindly like sheep.

In other words the answer to your question, how can we get out of this mess? The simple answer is by showing that you are able to think for yourself and can see reason and then help other do the same.

Let me warn you Zimbabwe has more than its fair share of idiots whose intellect is impenetrable to reason. Your challenge is not to give up! Never ever give up!

I am man enough to admit when I have made an error of judgment and I do so now. I said you were "able to think for yourself"; well I was wrong!

If you believe that someone who would blindly follow a corrupt and murderous tyrant is "belongs to a different school of thought." These people are blind and they are hopelessly wrong, period.

The MDC supporters who have completely failed to see Tsvangirai for the blundering incompetent idiot he is; are not just having a "different point of view". The blundering idiot failed to implement the critical reforms showing that he did not understand what needed to be done. How can the idiot still claim that he will lead the nation to “the Promised Land” when he clearly does not know where it is? Of course only an idiot would still want to fellow such a leader. These people have no point of view no more than the donkey Tsvangirai takes along with him can be said to have a “point of view”.

An idiot and an intellectual are human beings, yes but that is where the parallel should and must end.

Thinking is a quality attributed to the brain's capacity to process complex data quickly, efficiently and come up with the right answers. A genius like Isaac Newton was able to process a mountain of data and come out with real clever conclusions. The average person can deal with an anthill of data and make the right conclusions. Give an idiot a mole-hill of data and his brain will not even cope, it is too much!

Mugabe blatantly rigged the 2013 elections – blatantly because the evidence is everywhere for with eyes to see to see - and yet how many idiots out there have failed to see it! After years of little or no activity their brains have turned into fat; they saw the bussed voters, read the reports of nearly a million people being denied the vote, etc. but the brains are so lethargic it cannot make the obvious conclusion that this was blatant vote rigging!

I told you, Zimbabwe has more than its fair share of idiots; that is true. What I should have also said is that of the few who have shown some brain activity many of them have lost their way because they lacked the courage to stand up and be counted. They lacked the mental attitude to the dangers that lay behind the immediate comfort of going with the crowd – the danger of becoming one of the mobs physically and mentally.

"People think whether idiots or intellectual!" The inability and ability to think is what differentiate the one from the other. This is therefore the kind of nonsense said men and women of little intellect who are keen to please and go along with the crowd. Vanongo kuvirira zvose mavhu namarara!
