 No one should undertake anything with the intention to fail. Being pragmatic means doing everything in your power to maximise the chances of success by considering all possibility of failure and taking the necessary measures to counter the negatives. 

It is possible that you will still fail. The smart thing to do then is to learn why you failed. The foolish thing to do is to fail to learn from one’s mistake because the chances are you will repeat the same mistake again and fail again. 

And just as success breed success, failure breeds failure. The more often you fail the greater the chances you will fail again and all because you failed to take time off to learn from the past. 

There are many who will start frothing round the mouth each time I point out that MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU. “Let’s move on!” they would scream. “We cannot drive forward whilst looking in the rear-view mirror! We need to dwell in the present and prepare for the future.”

The very fact that these fools look to Chamisa and his CCC friends to get the nation out of the political and economic mess we are in is proof they have never taken time out to ask the obvious question: what changes have Chamisa and company brought in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU? Because if they had done so then they would know the answer is not even one change. 

Of course, it is foolish to trust CCC to get us out of the mess when they have failed to deliver even one change in 23 years. After 23 years of one failure after another because they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Only a village idiot, who too does not have the common sense to learn from 23 years of repeated failures, would entrust his/her life and the destiny of the whole nation to some one with a proven track record of failure.  

It would be unforgivable for some one of sound mind to allow themselves to be sweared into entrusting their dog’s comfort much less their life, to a failed leader to placate a village idiot. Even if the village idiots constitute the majority, as they do in Zimbabwe’s case.  

The true measure of one's intellectual worth is doing the right thing even if it is the least popular. Many people are stuck in a rut repeating the same mistake over and over again and hoping against reason for a different result. The origin of their insanity is the failure to do the right thing for fear being unpopular with their peers. 

Ramaphosa hell bent on giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy - to him, povo must be sacrifised to gratify Zanu PF N Garikai

 "The ANC supports the calls for the lifting of punitive sanctions against Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, Syria, Zimbabwe and elsewhere where such sanctions have been imposed unilaterally and unjustifiably, causing immense suffering and hardship to ordinary citizens of these countries," said South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa.

"We must strengthen party-to-party and multi-party relations on our continent to turn consensus into concrete action. The ANC should intensify engagement with Southern African liberation movements to ensure that common programmes are realised."

He was restating ANC's 55th National Conference resolution that the party will not support regime change in Zimbabwe. 

So, ANC is determined to keep Zanu PF in power regardless of the party’s well documented track record of corruption and tyranny and in direct violation of the universally accept notion that only the people, in a free, fair and credible election, give the mandate to rule. This is an outrage!

Three years after Zimbabwe’s independence, Zanu PF launched the 1983 to 1987 Gukurahundi Massacre in which millions were internally displaced, hundreds of thousands had their property destroyed, were harassed and beaten and over 20 000 defenceless civilians were murdered in cold blood. The primary purpose of the onslaught was to force PF Zapu, Zanu PF’s main political rival, to dissolve itself and sign the unity accord. This paved the way for Zanu PF to impose the de facto one-party dictatorship that has ruled the country with an iron fist to this day. 

Each time Zanu PF has felt its hold on power threatened, the party has orchestrated lawlessness and violence. In the 2008 elections the party cheated in the March vote count to force a run-off and then used wanton violence. For once, both SADC and AU refused to endorse the Zanu PF election victory and grant the political legitimacy.

SADC forced Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA), agreeing to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms designed to dismantle the de facto one-party dictatorship and replace it with a democratic system of government. 

Many African leaders had no qualms condemning white colonial oppression and exploitation of the blacks before independence. The same leaders have stubbornly refused to criticise the same or worse oppression of the masses by fellow black leaders.

There are good and bad qualities in all us regardless of race, gender, etc. To therefore see the oppression of the white colonialists but turn a blind eye to the same excesses a fellow black nationalists is hypocrisy and foolish. 

The misplaced conspiratorial indifference of African leaders have turned many yesteryear liberation war heroes into today’s oppressors - a vicious cycle from which are still trapped in decades after independence. A vicious cycle Zimbabwe is trapped in and the last thing we want is for ANC to interfere and keeps us there.

When SADC and AU leaders refused to endorse Mugabe as the legitimate president of Zimbabwe in 2008, that was a highly commendable and progressive step. It was a great pity that not even one meaningful democratic reform was implemented during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Yes, SADC, as the guarantor of the 2008 GPA, could have done more to get the reforms implemented. 

The blame why not even one reform was implemented lays with Zanu PF and MDC, the partners in the GNU, especially the later. Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office and the rest is history. 

SADC leaders made a last minute bid to get the 2013 elections postponed until the reforms were implemented. “If you go into the elections next month, you will lose. The elections are done!” the leaders told Tsvangirai and co., to their faces. 

Sadly, their warning fell on deaf ears; MDC participated in the 2013 elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged those elections, as SADC leaders had rightly predicted. And the regional leaders reverted to their default position of endorse Zanu PF rigged elections and granting the party legitimacy. They were doing this, one assumed, in the post GNU era to punish MDC leaders for failing to implement reforms and ignoring the warning not to participating in the flawed elections. 

MDC leaders once again ignored the still valid warning not to participate in the 2018 elections without first implemented the reforms. SADC leaders turned a blind eye to Zanu PF’s vote rigging and violence and again granted the party political legitimacy. 

In granting vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy SADC leaders have not only punished MDC leaders, if at all, but, most notably, they have punished the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans who have gained nothing and instead suffered the consequences of the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule. 

This is collective punishment of the people of Zimbabwe for the greed and betrayal of MDC leaders by SADC leaders is diabolical. And after 10 years of this collective punishment, one had hope, SADC leaders would finally come to the senses and stop giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy in these 2023 elections. 

It is infuriating therefore to hear that President Cyril Ramaphosa and his ANC are hell bent on turning a blind eye to Zanu PF rigging the 2023 election and granting the party political legitimacy under the pretext Zanu PF is a liberation movement worthy of ANC support regardless of the party’s track record and the people’s democratic right to regime change!

 

People should not be surprised at President Cyril Ramaphosa and his ANC cronies’ resolution to keep liberation movements in power regardless of the clear violation of the democratic tenet that it is the people and they alone who grant the political legitimacy in a free, fair and credible election. South Africans will be going to be polls next year 2024, and ANC’s hold on power is more tenuous than ever. After 30 years in power, this ANC regime has precious little to show for it. South Africa’s economy is in ruins and corruption has been rampant. 

The regime has no clue what to do to revive the economy and so, to hang on to power, the party is promoting the idea liberation movements, like Zanu PF is Zimbabwe and ANC in SA, have the divine right to defy the normal democratic convention and remain in power. 

SA has held free, fair and credible elections since the end of apartheid in 1994. The pressure on ANC leaders to silence political critics and opponents and to rig the elections has been growing with the mounting evidence of the regime’s cases of corruption and economic meltdown. 

It is for the people of South Africa to stop ANC stripping them of their democratic right to have regime change if they so decide in a free and fair elections. 

We in Zimbabwe have lost our right to free and fair elections. We must redouble our efforts to get reforms implemented as the prerequisite to free elections. And meanwhile we must also fight ANC’s blatant attempt to frustrate our efforts to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by granting vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. 

The sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath! By the same token liberation movement are formed to serve the people and it absurd that the people must now suffer and die, the sacrificial lambs, to gratify the insatiable greed for power and wealth of leaders of liberation movements.

10 000 Pastors for ED to attend Chitepo School of ideology - more like devil's imps for ED N Garikai

 Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections and instead of more and more people coming out to denounce this outrage they are joining the vote rigging bandwagon. 

”In a bid to foster patriotism amongst pastors, at least 10,600 pastors are set to undergo training at Chitepo School of Ideology,” said Pastors for ED National Chairperson, Idiraishe Dongo.

Pastors are supposed to be man of God, man of justice, the man who will fight for the oppressed and down trodden. In Zimbabwe the world has been turn up side down, the Pastors are now openly siding with the oppressors and aid and abet in the regime’s blatant vote rigging.

The party has ridden roughshod over the people denying them their freedoms and basic human rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life. 

Dr Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) is one of the church leaders who have supported Zanu PF and the regime has rewarded him generously with farms and cash. He has managed to build an empire and a millionaire. No doubt the 10 000 other church leaders are as keen as mustard to join the bandwagon for their share of the loot! 

"Our support for the President is something which is mandated by the Bible. The book of Romans Chapter 13, verse 1-6 mandated the people of any land to subject themselves to the governors of their land. The governor of this land is President Mnangagwa,” argued Pastor Dongo.

"Considering that 85% of the population are Christians, it means we are directly affected by the policies which will be made in the country. The role of the Church in Zimbabwe is to support issues of national development, nation building because we are the majority.”

It is most disconcerting when the devil quotes the Bible! 

43 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF misrule has left the country in economic ruins with basic services such as health care and education collapsed and 50% of our people now live in abject poverty. The people have been helpless to stop the rot because Zanu PF has denied them the basic right of a meaningful say in the  governance of the country. 

Zanu PF has rigged elections since the country’s independence in 1980. And with not even one token democratic reform implemented, the party is blatantly rigging the 2023 elections, once again denying the people a say in the governance of the country. 

Zimbabwe is a failed state, a pariah state, ruled by corrupt and murderous thugs who have no respect for the suffering and deaths of others. The Bible and God in heaven has never ever supported such tyrants and all of His many prophets have always sided with the downtrodden. 

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because, like it or not, we have shown ourselves again and again t be a people with very low moral values who will sell their own mother for a price and be proud we had a mother to sell. Mugabe bribed his cabinet ministers with Mercedes Benz limos soon after independence, kickstarting the patronage system that has become the hallmark of the Zanu PF rule.

“Mose murivakadzi vaMugabe!” (You are all Mugabe’s concubines and neuters!) Margaret Dongo called her fellow Zanu PF MPs and ministers is exasperation at their failure to standup to Mugabe’s tyrannical excesses. 

During the 2008 to 2013 GNU, when the country had its best opportunity to implement the democratic reforms, Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends and they spend the next five years praising the dictator! 

It must be said, Mugabe and now Mnangagwa has never had any problems recruiting Zimbabweans from all walks of life to prop up and defend the Zanu PF dictatorship. Admitted the two dictators have willing paid price, anything to retain their iron grip on power, from the Z$50 000 pay of to war veterans in 1997, seized farms to party loyalists and cronies, mining concession (looting licences) to top brass in the security services, etc., etc. 

Mugabe and Mnangagwa got what they wanted, absolute power and thwarting all hope of a democratic Zimbabwe but each and everyone of the bribes have been reckless and wasteful and dragged the nation deeper and deeper into the economic ruins and political paralysis. 

Pastors for ED! Yeah right, it’s more like the devil’s imps for ED!

Meeting to kickstart 2 400 MW Batoka Gorge P/S - 43 years overdue and a criminal waste of opportunity and humans W mukori

 

“Last month, President Mnangagwa met his Zambian counterpart Hakainde Hichilema and discussed steps that will be undertaken to kickstart the 2 400MW, US$4.5 billion Batoka Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station on the Zambezi River,” reported New Zimbabwe.

“It is expected to generate revenue of over US$750 million annually, which will consequently enhance the economies of Zimbabwe and Zambia.”

There are five things that must be said here:

1. Ian Smith had done the feasibility studies on not just Batoka Gorge Dam but also on adding unit 7 and 8 at Hwange Power Station and work on the two projects would have been carried out and completed in the 1970s and 1980s at the latest. 
2. Mugabe received the feasibility reports on the two power projects in 1980 as the new incoming government and did nothing about it for decades. Up to now only Hwange unit 7 has been installed and commissioned in 2022. 
3. It is not that Zimbabwe did not have the resources to build such majority projects; it has. Our problem is misplaced priorities and corruption. Mugabe squandered US$ 2-3 billion building his sprawling Blue Roof mansion that Pantheon to insatiable greed; enough to have paid for Batoka Gorge Dam at the time!
4. The opportunity cost of failing to build these power projects timeously is not just the economic loses because of the all too familiar ZESA load shedding; no doubt the nation would have been spared the power cuts. But more notably, the 2 400 MW Batoka Gorge, or a second Kariba Dam, would have spurred its own economic growth these last four decades. So, instead of Batoka Gorge Dam we got the Pantheon, Blue Roof mansion, which Grace Mugabe abandoned soon after the late dictator’s death. Even with her looted fortune, she cannot afford the high maintenance cost, and so rot and decay have set in. 
5. In 1980 Zimbabwe had the material and human resources and potential to become the South Korea of Africa, a dynamic and prosperous nation. We have become the textbook case failed state all because of failed leadership. What a criminal waste of money, opportunity and, most tragic of all, human lives!

It is tempting to dismiss Chamisa and his CCC friends’ claims that they will win big as wishful thinking.

“Wishful thinking is the formation of beliefs based on what might be pleasing to imagine, rather than on evidence, rationality, or reality. It is a product of resolving conflicts between belief and desire,” according to Wikipedia.

When the wishful thinking involves ignoring the evidence that Zanu PF has been rigging elections for 42 years and counting, ignoring the historic facts that Chamisa and company wasted the golden opportunity to implement the reforms and end the vote rigging and ignoring the fact that these CCC leaders know Zanu PF is rigging the elections and their participation only give Zanu PF legitimacy; it is clear this is a lot more than wishful thinking.

Chamisa and company are selling out the nation and are pretending they are naïve and wishful thinkers. They know exactly what they are doing!

Chamisa and company’s claim of winning these elections for the purpose of luring the naïve, gullible and desperate Zimbabweans into participating in these flawed and illegal elections can be compared to Judas Iscariot’s kiss of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. There was no affection in that kiss!

Nelson Chamisa has the cheek to evoke God in his betrayal. “God is in it!” How can God be in in this or any of the other MDC/CCC schemes of betrayal to gratify their insatiable greed.

Zimbabwe would not still be stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF regime if MDC had implemented the democratic reforms. After 22 years, 5 of which in the GNU, Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one reform. And by participating in these flawed elections, they are giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuate the dictatorship and the suffering of ordinary people.

The challenge is to educate the ordinary people so they can see with their own eye that CCC’s claim of winning the 2023 elections is not just wishful thinking but a calculated lie to lure them into participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their suffering. Admittedly Zimbabweans are a naïve and gullible lot, the country would not be in this mess otherwise; so, educating them is certainly a challenge but, hopefully, not mission impossible.

Whilst CCC is bombing the nation with its lies of winning the elections the challenge is to count that with the truth – that Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC are participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy in return for a few gravy train seats.

History must say every Zimbabwean with half a brain knew that CCC’s claim of winning the 2023 was wishful thinking or, better still, an act of wilful betrayal!

“Chamisa himself knows he is too small to be saluted by these men of war. These generals are waiting for their turn on the presidency and this can only happen when Zanu PF is in power, so even if Zanu PF loses the election why would they let it go without a fight?" said Ignatius Chombo, a former Zanu PF minister and one of G40 leaders accused by Mnangagwa regime of corruption.   

How many times did we hear Zanu PF apologists say the security services top brass would never salute Morgan Tsvangirai since the launch of the MDC in 1999? Security services chiefs, the likes of the late Douglas Nyikayaramba and Vitalis Zvinavashe, themselves said these treasonous statements openly. They were never cautioned much less court-marshalled – proof they had Zanu PF government approval.

Such threatening statements always came thick and fast whenever Zanu PF felt its iron grip on power was slipping. Zanu PF’s grip on power was feeble than it was runner up to the 2008 elections and it was no surprise many security chiefs made these seditious statements to bolster Zanu PF’s electoral chances.

 Zanu PF lost the March 2008 vote but before the results were declared Mnangagwa, it is not clear who else were involved, stopped ZEC declaring the results. He then spent the next six weeks recounting the five million votes. Tsvangirai’s 73% vote count, by Mugabe’s own Freudian slip, was whittled down to 47%, enough to justify a run-off.

During the run-off all the security services; Police, Army, CIO and Prison Services; supplied manpower deployed to carryout operation Mavhotera papi whose primary objective was to punish the ordinary Zimbabweans for daring to reject Zanu PF and Mugabe. Tsvangirai was forced to withdraw and Mugabe won the one-horse race with 84%.

SADC and AU, for the first time ever since independence, refuse to endorse the Zanu PF electoral victory and political legitimacy forcing the party to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA). Agreeing to the need for Zimbabwe to implement democratic reforms design to end Zanu PF’s undemocratic control of state institutions including the security services.

Fully implemented the reforms would have made the refusal by any security officer to salute democratically elected official for petty political party allegiance a high treason!

The tragedy for Zimbabwe was that MDC failed to implement even one meaningful reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU because Tsvangirai and company turned out to be corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.

The security services chiefs knew the primary task of the GNU was to implement the reforms and cut the undemocratic umbilical cord giving Zanu PF power over the Army, Police, etc. None of the security chiefs protested the signing of the 2008 GPA including the individuals who had proclaimed they would never salute Tsvangirai. And there is not one iota of evidence to suggest the security chiefs interfered in any way to stop the implementation of the reforms. The blame for failing to implement the reforms is with the GNU politicians alone, especially the MDC leaders.

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs who have always resorted to all manner of dirty tricks including fear and violence to retain their iron grip on power. The security chiefs’ refusal to salute opposition leaders was meant to instil fear in the voters that the country would slip into lawlessness if the people voted into power someone the security chiefs did not approval of. Opposition leaders were on the “not approved” list.

No nation should ever allow itself to be held to ransom. The people of Zimbabwe alone must decide who governs the country through the holding of free, fair and credible elections. That is not negotiable!  

When Zimbabwe finally implement the democratic reforms and restore the rule of law; it is now a matter of when and not if, the present political system is unsustainable, and change is certainly coming; Ignatius Chombo held to account for his treasonous statement. He must name the individuals would not salute Chamisa and why he took it upon himself to broadcast from the rooftop such obnoxious tidings!!!!!

2023 elections will NOT be free, they can be the next best thing - LAST rigged elections W Mukori

If anything is certain, it is that Zanu PF is blatantly rigging the 2023 elections just as the party has rigged past elections. Chamisa and his CCC friends are not blind, of course they know that with not even one democratic reform implemented since the 2018 elections, Zanu PF will rig these elections just as readily as they rigged the 2018, 2013, 2008, etc.

Key CCC leaders like Tendai Biti readily admitted the folly of participating in these flawed elections. “Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections,” Biti told Isaac Mugabi in 2015.

“So, it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimizing these sham elections which don't deliver. This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn't perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament.

“You can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

David Coltart, another senior MDC cum CCC leaders concurred with what Biti said but went one step further. He explained why CCC leaders continue to subject Zimbabweans into these flawed election processes only to have their hopes of meaningful democratic change and economic recovery crushed.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends are hell bent on participating in the 2023 elections, knowing fully well that doing so will give Zanu PF legitimacy, “for fear that the other (opposition parties) would remain in the elections, winning seats”; i.e., greed. So, there it is from the horse’s own mouth, MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform these last 22 year and are insisting on participating tin flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy because of greed!

Zanu PF is blatantly rigging these elections and for any Zimbabwean to participate in the flawed and illegal process to give the regime legitimacy is not only insane but those doing so knowingly and out of greed, it is high treason.

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies are rigging the 2023 elections contrary the regime’s sworn promise to uphold the rule of law and guarantee the rights of all Zimbabweans including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. We cannot stop Zanu PF rigging the elections nor stop the flawed elections going ahead.

Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends’ claim of winning these flawed elections in just hot air to justify their participation in the flawed process and a smoke screen to hide their greed. We cannot stop CCC participating.

However, what we can do is make sure the whole world knows that without the democratic reforms Zimbabwean elections are flawed and illegal. And that Zanu PF does not get legitimacy from winning rigging elections and CCC does not political credibility from their treasonous greed.

Whilst 2023 elections will not be free, fair and credible they must be the next best thing – the last rigged election. Mark my words and mark them well!
