Zimbabwe is a failed state because of "parasitic political elite" admitted Chamisa, junior parasite with the anaesthetic bite! W Mukori

“A UNITY DAY is meaningless unless and until it is driven by Unity values and UNITY POLITICS undergirded by a unity of direction, singleness of national purpose and a preponderance of patriotic duty and consciousness by all Zimbabweans, especially those occupying public national offices,” wrote Nelson Chamisa in Bulawayo 24

“As of today, Zimbabwe is deeply divided and profusely bleeding on account of divisive, toxic, partisan and unpatriotic politics sponsored and perpetuated by a parasitic political elite. Zimbabwe is captured by those who purpose to thrive in a weak, failing and unstable Zimbabwe.

“The state is personalised, the politics bastardised, the alternative is demonised and the law is weaponised against perceived political opponents.”

It is nonsense to keep complaining of Zanu PF’s corrupt and tyrannical rule when CCC had the golden opportunity to end it and wasted it! The 2008 to 2013 GNU was Zimbabwe’s get out of jail card and Chamisa and company failed to play it because they had their snouts in the feeding trough.

If you had a get out of jail card and did not play it, people want to know why you did not play it. They are not interested in your complaining about the 10 m thick and 50 m high jail walls topped with the razor fence, etc.; the bastardised politics, etc.

Chamisa is right in in blaming the country’s “parasitic political elite” for the country’s economic mess and political paralysis. He and his CCC friends, not just the usual Zanu PF thugs, are an integral part of Zimbabwe’s “parasitic political elite”.

Indeed, the nation must pay even more attention to the CCC than the Zanu PF parasites than the Zanu PF. Everyone has known for decades that Zanu PF thugs are corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who rigged elections to stay in power. The nation has risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders for the express purpose of implementing the democratic reforms necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. Zanu PF has corrupt the MDC leaders to forget about implementing the reforms for a share of the spoils of power.

Like it or not Chamisa and his CCC friend have metamorphosed from the one to deliver change to working with Zanu PF to not only resist change but to become one of the parasitic ruling elite. Zanu PF has found CCC particularly useful in that many people have failed to see the transformative change and so have been waiting for the democratic change that will never come.

Zanu PF’s continued stay in power these last 23 years is thanks to the presence of MDC/CCC. CCC have become the junior parasite whose bite has calm the victims allowing the senior parasite, Zanu PF to feed at leisure.

There is no denying that Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections once and once for all during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Chamisa and his MDC friend failed to implement even one token reform in five years and ever since they have been participating in flawed elections to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship for a share of the spoils of power.

“Our otherwise beautiful country is now essentially a banana republic. Zimbabwe is not just at the risk of being turned into a one-party-state but a one-man-state! We must and will end this ugly era,” concluded Chamisa.

Yeah right! You failed to implement even one reform in 23 years including 5 years in the GNU when you had all the trump cards. What hope is there of doing it now especially now the self-destruct CCC recall wars in full swing.

Chamisa and company will never ever implement any reforms and end this political nightmare. The tragic is the people themselves have been slow to realise this. After 23 years with not even one reform implemented and the people still believe the parasitic Nelson Chamisa is the nation’s saviour. 23 years and the penny has not dropped that it is CCC’s incompetence that is now keeping Zanu PF in power. 23 years! How naive can you be!

Failure to comprehend MDC's sell-out on reforms, even with benefit of hindsight, is symptomatic of stupidity and worse! W Mukori

“Chounorasiswa ndochiri muruoko. Chirimudumbu unorotwiswa. Hupenzi chifo, unofa nahwo!” (What you hold in your hand you can throw away. What is on your stomach you can vomit. Stupidity is a curse that you will take to your grave!) So goes the Shona adage.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and all because of our own stupidity! I make no apology for saying this because it is true and, more stoically, in the hope that plain talking may force people out of their sloth-like mental slumber.

“Nelson Chamisa is not a god who is immune to mistakes, just like you and me,” argued Solomon Harudzibwi in Bulawayo 24.

“He doesn't owe anyone an opportunity to experiment on your fine strategies or advice.”

The sheer stupidity of our so-call intellectuals is one of factors that has undermined the nation’s efforts to build a healthy and functioning democracy. Ordinarily any society would looks up to its intellectuals to give sound advice and thus keep the nation on the narrow and straight road. But when the intellectuals themselves are stupid and devoid of even common sense, the society is in deep trouble.

MDC/CCC leaders were elected into office with a clearly define task and not with some wishy-washy plan. Ever since the launch of MDC 1999 the people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, life and limb to elect the party’s leaders into power for the primary purpose of implementing the necessary democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

MDC/CCC leaders have been on the political stage for 23 years including 5 in the GNU and they have not only failed to implement even one token reform but have been participating in flawed elections out of greed. They have even claimed to have winning in rigged election strategies to justify participating and to hide the real reason for doing so - greed. These are all well-documented historic facts.

It is an outrage to dismiss the failure to implement even one token reform during the GNU, for example, as merely “a mistakes”. The two MDC factions in the GNU had 110 MPs, 40 senators, 30 ministers and deputy ministers, 2 Deputy PMs and 1 PM, any one of them could submit the reform proposal, and yet not even one reform proposal was ever submitted. They had five years to do this and still they failed. Of course, this was not a mistake.

Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and, in return, they kicked the reforms out of the window.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” boasted Zanu PF cronies during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implemented the reforms.

“I respect Nelson Chamisa for fighting in a space where others have given up either voluntarily or involuntarily cause the terrain is not easy, case in point is Nkosana Moyo, Robert Chapman, Douglas Mwonzora & many more,” continued Solomon.

The respect he is calling for to be accorded to Nelson Chamisa et al for daring to fight Zanu PF is that we, the people must NOT hold him and his friends to democratic account.

If we accept Solomon’s argument and concede to his demands then we extend the same privileges to Zanu PF. After all Robert Mugabe, Emmerson Mnangagwa and the rest of the Zanu PF leaders faced an even tougher opponent in the white colonial regime that Zanu PF.

Indeed, Zanu PF has rigged elections these last 43 years and has used the same excuses why the regime must not be held to democratic account - “Zanu PF fought the liberation war!”

Of course, it is foolish to have fought to end Zanu PF tyrannical and autocratic rule these last 43 years and before we have accomplished that objective we are already creating a new autocracy.

All those who hold public office must be democratically accountable to the people - no exception, no if and no but!

Establishing a healthy and functioning democratic Zimbabwe should be a walk in the park, after all we do not have to reinvent the wheel only to apply it! 43 years after independence and in this day and age, 2 500 years after the Greeks bequeath democracy to humanity and we in Zimbabwe are still failing to hold free, fair and credible elections.

The country’s ruling elite and intellectuals do not even know what constitute free, fair and credible elections, for Pete’s sake. What hope is there that my Auntie in the rural back waters will know any better. This is the damning testimonial of our stupidity and why we are seemingly - until we snap out of this stupor - incapable of self governing!

"Every South African has the right to a free vote" said Ramaphosa and yet resolved "no regime change in Zimbabwe!" W Mukori

“We have all listened to the announcement by President Jacob Zuma and we have noted what he has said and what he has announced and that is as far as we are prepared to go at this point in time and everyone in our country is free to express themselves in relation to who they will vote for and why they will vote for them and we have noted what former President Jacob Zuma has announced,” said SA President Cyril Ramaphosa.

So ANC is accepting that in SA every citizen has freedom of expression and can vote for whoever they like and yet a year ago the same party decreed that they would not allow regime change in Zimbabwe!

There is no deny that ANC has propped up the Zanu PF dictatorship for decades and place a major role in making sure Zanu PF got away with rigged 2023 elections even after the AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC condemned the process as flawed and illegal.

President Ramaphosa, just like former President Jacob Zuma, has tried to undermine the country’s democratic institution to hide ANC’s incompetence and corruption and to hang on to power. ANC’s 2022 party resolution not to allow regime change in Zimbabwe was not something out of the blue, it was the party’s fervant wish for SA.

SA’s strong democratic institutions have stopped ANC turning SA into yet another failed African nation as Zanu PF has done in Zimbabwe.

The late Nelson Mandela’s greatest legacy to SA was strong democratic institutions that 30 years after the end of apartheid has remained standing.

After 30 years in power ANC had run out of ideas on how to govern a long time ago and should have been given its marching orders years ago. Better late than never! Just reaffirming the concept that no party has the divine right to rule is a quantum leap for not only SA but for the region and the whole of Africa.

Regime change is SA would be the best thing that could possible happen in that country and the whole SADC region.

"Chamisa has made lots of mistakes; he is trying'" Participating in flawed elections and lying about it is NOT a mistake! Trying what? W Mukori

Zimbabweans love burying their heads in the sand and see and hear only what they want to see and hear - even in the face of a mountain of evidence saying otherwise. There is a dear price to be paid for such foolishness and we have and are paying for it!

“Chamisa has done a lot of great things, like his remarkable showings in 2018 and 2023 against a formidable Zanu-PF machinery, backed by the state and millions of dollars, which gave the country hope for change. That is why he remains the main authentic voice of the opposition and plausible alternative. Everything else is wishful thinking - at least for now,” Newshawk/ Bulawayo 24 reported.

Newshawk has written many very informative contributions to the economic and political discourse in Zimbabwe; this article is completely off the mark!

Zanu PF would have lost the elections to a troop of monkeys years ago if the elections were free, fair and credible and the monkeys were the only alternative to Zanu PF. For such has been the nation’s desperate desire for change.

Zanu PF has managed to stay in power all these years only because the party has retained its carte blanche power to rig elections.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, limb and even lives to elect MDC/CCC leaders into office for the primary purpose of implementing the necessary democratic reforms to restore the people’ freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, Nelson Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one token democratic change. Not one!

Worst of all, ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. What is more the opposition leaders themselves have known this all along.

“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimising these sham elections which don't deliver,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

David Coltart went one step more and revealed the reason why the opposition were hell bent on participating in these flawed elections to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

So the opposition leaders could not withdraw from the flawed elections even when it was clearly the only rational thing to do because they “feared the others would remain and win the (gravy train) seats”. Greed!

When Chamisa was asked repeatedly why MDC A was participating in the 2018 elections when ZEC had failed to produce something as basic for elections as a verified voters’ roll. “MDC A has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.” he answered.

Fast forward to 2023, when he was asked the same searching questions he claimed that he had “plugged all the vote rigging loop holes”.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2018 and 2023 elections, as we all know, Chamisa was lying to hide the real reason why he and his friends were participating in these flawed elections “no matter what” was greed.

It is therefore shocking that the article singled out Chamisa’s treasonous participation in the flawed 2018 and 2023 elections as one of Chamisa’s “great things” achievements!

“Yet he has made a lot of mistakes. The main reason is that he is trying,” the article argued, with name one of these acknowledged mistakes.

Well failing to implement even one democratic reform in five long years was NOT a mistake. And his continued participation in these flawed elections out of greed and then lying to hide his greed shows he has not learned much less repented from his treasonous betrayal.

Zimbabweans have knack for burying our heads in the sand so we see only what we want to see even in the face of a mountain of evidence proving otherwise. In 1980s and early 1990s many Zimbabweans would bend over backwards to blame ministers around Robert Mugabe for the country’s worsen economic and political situation. They would not accept that Mugabe himself was to blame even when he was the one appointing and keeping these incompetent and corrupt ministers.

It took nearly 20 years before the nation finally accepted that Mugabe himself was a corrupt and ruthless dictator but it was too late because by then de facto one party dictatorship was deeply entrenched in Zimbabwe society. Up rooting it was never going to be a walk in the park and certainly not with these corrupt and incompetent CCC leaders.

Zimbabwe is seemingly stuck with this Zanu PF dictatorship not because the party is “formidable” but because the opposition has turned out to be corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years especially during the GNU when they had the trump cards, it is naive, to say the least, to expect them to do so not when Zanu PF holds all the trump cards.

Chamisa and his CCC friends are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent showering them with praise will not change that reality and more significantly, will not get the country out of this hell-on-earth Zanu PF landed us in. We need competent opposition leaders who will implement the democratic reforms Chamisa et al are not up to the task!

CCC MPs defy Chamisa, they're fighting like wild cats to keep their gravy train seats not for democracy. W Mukori

In November last year Zanu PF announced that MPs and senators would get US$40 000 housing loan. Everyone knew this was not budgeted for, the recipients never asked for the loan and no one was expected to pay a single dollar back - in short, this was a bribe. The deputy ministers and ministers received US230 000 and US$ 500 000 respectively. The regime was going on an unbudgeted spending spree in preparation to the upcoming elections and was buying the silence of the country’s legislators to clear the way.

Nelson Chamisa admitted the US$40 000 housing loan to MPs and senators was a bribe and he asked his party’s legislators to refuse the bribe. They told him no. They reminded him that he and his MDC colleagues had received their bribes during the GNU and hence the reason thy failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years.

Indeed, ever since the 2008 to 2013 GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have shamelessly participated in flawed elections knowing Zanu PF would rig and win the election and their participation would give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. They did not mind that as long as they got the few gravy train seats Zanu PF offered to entice the opposition to participate.

It is therefore not surprising that Nelson Chamisa was once again trying to get his elected party officials to withdraw from parliament over these Sengezo Tshabangu recalls which have cause havoc and pandemonium in the party and the officials are determined to hang on to their gravy train seats. They participated out of greed and it is for that reason that they will stay.

MDC was launched in 1999 on the promise the party would deliver the democratic changes, including the changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections,  the nation was dying for. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, the party has not only failed to implement even one token change, reform, but worst of all since the GNU they have participated in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends lost their political moral compass during the GNU, if they had it at all, when Mugabe bribed them with the trapping of high office and they, in return throw the reforms out of the window. It is laughable how Chamisa has now and again tried to reclaim the mantra of change champion.

“Change Champion in Chief”, he calls himself in the CCC constitution he produced in the High Court. Yeah right! Change champion in chief who cannot name even one change he and the party has brought in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU!

"Chamisa had ordered a withdrawal but was told in no uncertain terms that he can't withdraw MPs who campaigned using their resources, especially after he, Chamisa, took all the donated money meant for MPs' campaigns and put it to his personal use. He was cornered; he could do anything but bow to pressure," mocked Jealousy Mawarire, the Spokesperson of the National Patriotic Front, according to a report in Bulawayo 24.

“Despite the internal turmoil and the public disclosure of the party's internal challenges, CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi defended the decision of the MPs to remain in parliament in a post on X. ‘It is our considered view as the Citizens Coalition for Change that we will be more impactful speaking against and calling out the regime in parliament while also guarding our zones of autonomy rather than pulling out,’ Mkwananzi explained.

Mkwananzi reiterated the party's commitment to defending the people's vote and challenged President Mnangagwa to take the initiative if the government does not want CCC legislators in Parliament. ‘If Mr. Mnangagwa does not want our legislators in Parliament, let him expel them rather than us doing the job for him. That way, the world will know who the real enemy of democracy is. We will never give in to the regime’s machinations,’ he stated.

The internal turmoil in CCC is the result of Chamisa’s refusal to have a democratic party constitution, structure and elected officials. He wanted to return total control and power for himself. He called the policy “strategic ambiguity” although there was nothing strategic or ambiguous - this was a one-man band plain and simple.

What Sengezo Tshabangu has done was claim to be the party’s SG. He has argued that the same mucky and undemocratic process that Chamisa says elected him President of the party elected him, Sengezo, SG. There was no evidence produced in a Court of Law to prove that he was lying. Chamisa’s own strategic ambiguity has backfired on him!

Sengezo Tshabangu has used his position as SG to recall these CCC officials he and his faction do not like. He has recalled two butches already, 24 legislators and 60 local authority councillors. He has threaten to recall more.

The whole world knows that CCC leaders have been participating in these  flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. The whole world also knows that CCC officials who were recalled is an internal matter, Zanu PF has nothing to do with it, and that CCC leaders are in a life and death fight to keep their gravy train seats and the benefits that entails; it is a lie that they are fighting for democracy.

How can CCC leaders still be fighting for democracy when they traded that in for the gravy train seats a long time ago! MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform in 23 years precisely because they have sold out on democracy, reforms and free elections. If the people of Zimbabwe want an end to this curse of rigged elections and bad governance then they must wake up to this political reality - CCC leaders are fighting for gravy train seats and not democracy!

Sunday 10 December 2023

Zimbabwe's a failed stated because we're governed by buffoons who claim to know best but know nothing! W Mukori

Both Emmerson Mnangagwa and his ruling party Zanu PF and Nelson Chamisa and his CCC party claim that they are nation builders. If so, then why is Zimbabwe a failed state whose economy is in ruins and his in political paralysis as neither the ruling party nor the opposition party have offered a way out of this hell-o-earth of our own making?

The obvious and truthful answer is: neither Mnangagwa nor Chamisa nation builders. They wish they were nation builders and claim that they are, there is a mountain of evidence on each side to prove they are not what they claim to be!

Ever since Emmerson Mnangagwa seized power in the aftermath of the November 2017 military coup that ousted the late Robert Mugabe Mnangagwa has been cocksure he was the man who would finally deliver the mass economic prosperity, “gutsa ruzhinji” Zanu PF had promised ever since the country’s independence. He had clearly waited the 34 years of Mugabe rule for this chance and he fit the ground running.

“Zimbabwe is open for business!” Mnangagwa proclaimed within a few weeks of seizing power. And he and his supporting team, all dressed in the trademark Zimbabwe flag scarf, were out selling the idea at every opportunity. They expected nothing short of a flood of local and foreign investors all keen as mustard to do business. The flood of investors never materialised.

Mnangagwa failed to keep his promise to stamp out corruption, to hold free and fair elections, etc., etc. proof to all but especially the savvy investors that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state and therefore not yet open for business.

Undaunted by the failure of his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra; Mnangagwa fine tuned it. He decided to focus on attracting Zimbabweans in the country and in the diaspora to spearhead nation build schemes. “Nyika inovakwa nevenevayo!” was born and launched with the usual no-expense-spared pomp and razzmatazz.

It is now six years since the November 2017 military coup it is no exaggeration none of Mnangagwa’s harebrained schemes to revive the economy have worked. None! The country has failed to showed any meaningful recovery economically, politically, socially and every other which-way ever since the November 2017 military coup.

Indeed, many argue that things are even worse than there were under Mugabe. Corruption has certain gone into overdrive. Mnangagwa himself was named in the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary aired early this year. Mnangagwa was not even concerned about the expose and even announced that Mbava4ED (Looters4ED) was one of the many groups that would help with his August 2023 election campaign.

Mnangagwa has remains confident he would deliver on his promise to make Zimbabwe an upper middle income nation by 2030, Vision 2030. The very fact that the last six years of his so called Second Republic has failed to produce any sign he was on the right track has not shaken his self-confidence. Indeed he is as cocky as ever, so cocky he has just rigged the August 2023 elections - just to be absolutely sure the nation would not be deprived of the great services of the best nation builder this side of the grave!

Well Zimbabwe is in luck, because Nelson Chamisa is equally cocky and cocksure he is the greatest nation builder ever!

“In my whole life I have never destroyed. I only build,” stated Chamisa in one of this regular twitter proclamations.

“I was never born with the gift of destroying or killing. I was born with the mantle to build. My gift is to build not specialise in profitless fights. I invest in peace no matter the cost or abuse. Zimbabwe needs builders not destroyers demolishers. We need light not fight!”

The USA ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, said, in a leaked cable back to Washington, that the now late Morgan Tsvangirai was “a flawed and indecisive character who, if he ever got into power, will become an albatross around the nation’s neck.”

The ambassador could have said the same about all the other MDC leaders including Nelson Chamisa. And MDC/CCC have been on the political stage for 23 years including 5 in the GNU. They have not only failed to implement even one democratic reform, the number one task they were elected to do, but worst of all they have been participating inflated elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the nation’s suffering.

Ambassador Dell was right Chamisa and his CCC fiend are nothing but the milestone around the nation’s neck dragging us all deep into the crushing abyss.

Ever since Chamisa seized power following Tsvangirai’s death the country’s main opposition party has blundered from pillar to post. Many people have said the worsening economic and political situation has made Zanu PF so unpopular the party would lose the elections to a troop of monkeys in a free, fair and credible elections. Underlining that to win the elections all Chamisa and company had to do was make sure the elections were free and fair. A bridge too far because Chamisa et al have been hell bent on participating in flawed elections by failing to implement the reforms and then participating in flawed election, as noted above.

So here is Chamisa stubbornly maintain he was “born with the mantle to build” and yet after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, he and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement even one democratic reform  to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Indeed, they are the ones helping Zanu PF stay in power by participating in flawed elections for a share of the spoils of power.

“Born with the mantle to build!” Yeah right!

The story goes that a friend of the Greek Philosopher Socrates asked the Oracle of Delphi if there was anyone wiser than Socrates. “No!” was the reply.

When Socrates was told the story, he set out to find out for himself if indeed he was the wisest. I sorted all the individuals many believed were wise. He found out that these wise people did not have knowledge they claimed to have. “If I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing!”

Zimbabwe is a failed state after 43 years and counting stuck with a regime of buffoons who have claimed to know what is best for the nation and yet they know nothing. They have conspired and connived to rig elections denying the people a meaningful say in the governance of the country. The worst curse to befall a nation is to be governed by buffoons who claim to know but know nothing. Alas! Zimbabwe has the mother of that curse; in that, both the ruling party and the opposition have seasoned buffoons as leaders across the board!
