When Mugabe failed to pay patronage dues, he was booted out. ED is next. "It's economy, stupid!" W Mukori

Robert Mugabe was a ruthless dictator who enjoyed absolute power and thus demanded blind loyalty from those below him. Such blind loyalty comes with a high price tag. Mugabe could afford to pay the price because he inherited the Biblical seven fat cows and seven fat ears of corn.

In an interview with Trevor Ncube, In Conversation With Trevor, Dr Simba Makoni described how Prime Minister Mugabe replaced Peugeot 406 Ian Smith had given to his Ministers with Class E Mercedes Benz limousines just a few weeks after taking office in 1980. The limousines were not budgeted for and there was no cabinet approval. This was Mugabe’s gift to his cabinet, kicking starting the patronage system that has remained the hallmark of Zimbabwe’s political system.

The cabinet ministers, MPs, etc., the beneficiaries of the the political patronage, returned the favour by giving Mugabe their blind loyalty. Even at the height of the Gukurahundi Massacre in 1983 to 1987 there was no voice of dissent in parliament or cabinet.

“Mose murivakadzi vaMugabe!” (You are all Mugabe’s kowtowing concubines!) Margret Dongo scolded her fellow Zanu PF MPs and Ministers in protest at their slavish subservience to Mugabe. No doubt the dictator was tickled to no end.

The trouble with political patronage, by its very nature of rewarding blind loyalty instead of merit, it is, per se, a criminal waste of human and material resources. The appetites of beneficiaries of the patronage system once awakened grew exponentially matched only by their wastefulness. The seven fat cows and seven fat ears of corn inherited from Smith were soon gone and Mugabe was forced to dig deeper and deeper to keep his ever demanding hyenas fed.

By the turn of the century, just 20 after Zimbabwe’s independence, the country’s once promising economy was in deep trouble. Mugabe had no wealth left to give away except for one thing - land. And started seizing the white-owned farms, supposedly to give to landless peasant, but in reality to give to his Zanu PF cronies. By 2005 Zimbabwe’s once very productive agricultural sector had collapsed and with it the nation’s economy and both have yet to recover to this day.

Mugabe lost the 2008 elections to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC party and had to rely on the Joint Operation Command, a Junta composed of the top brass in the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Service, to spearhead the infamous Operation Mavhotera Papi to stop MDC getting into power. Mugabe was obliged to reward the securocrats with diamond mining concessions under such generous terms the holder(s) have no legal obligation to declare their earning nor pay any tax - in short, they are looting licences. In time the securocrats have demanded more and more economic and political power and influence.

Zanu PF emerged out of the 2008 to 2013 GNU with all the party’s carte blanche dictatorial powers untouched largely because of Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends’ being corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Mugabe himself was a spend force, he had no wealth to doll out and without the blind loyalty of those around him had disappeared like mist in the morning sun.

Of course, Mugabe was disappointed in being booted out of office in the November 2017 military coup but that is not to say he was surprise with the coup. He saw it coming. He has no wealth to doll out to the ever demanding party members for their blind loyalists; the minute they realise you cannot their loyalty to you evaporates.

Emmerson Mnangagwa was the principle beneficiary of the 2017 military coup and, of all people, he knew his stay in power was totally dependent on his paying his patronage dues. He inherited a collapse economy from Mugabe and so he knew he would have to revive the economy quick smart. He thought he had hit the ground running with his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra.

Sadly, no one was fooled especially the savvy investors, Mnangagwa was hoping to attack and kick-start the comatose Zimbabwe economy. They could see that the coup had removed the old dictator Mugabe but only to replace him with an new dictator. When Mnangagwa failed to hold free and fair elections in 2018 he confirm that nothing indeed had changed. “Zimbabwe is open for business!” was dead in the water.

For the last two years, Mnangagwa and his spin doctors have tried to sell the narrative that Zimbabwe’s economy has turned the corner from the Mugabe days and things are getting better and better every day! The reality on the ground has told its own story that things are getting worse. Zimbabwe is a failed state and anyone with eyes can see that for themselves. Zimbabwe’s present social, economic and political situation is unsustainable and it is no surprise then that President Mnangagwa is at a loss what to do.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken a huge political risk by sidelining the military - which has kept Zanu-PF in power directly since 2000 - from his dicey intelligency-driven presidential election campaign, state security sources say,” reported NewsHawks.

Mnangagwa is now working with the dreaded state security agency, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO)’s shadowy political dark arts structure Forever Associates Zimbabwe (Faz).

“An internal secret intelligence assessment by CIO, on which The NewsHawks was briefed, shows Mnangagwa has moved to sideline the army in the elections for three main reasons,” the report explained.

“It is a huge risk which may pay a political dividend for him, but trigger the military to fight back.

“Firstly, Mnangagwa is pushing back against the army which is still heavily influenced by Chiwenga and is suspected of planning a 2008-like "bhora musango" (sabotage) campaign which led to Mugabe's shock defeat by the late founding opposition MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the first round of polling.

“Secondly, he is trying to disentangle and wean himself off the army, which brought him to power through the coup, to secure his own mandate through Faz.

“Sources say Mnangagwa is fed up with Chiwenga and the army's "we put you there" mantra used to blackmail and control him.

“Thirdly, having dismantled the coup coalition which brought him to power, the President wants to push the army back to the barracks and remove them from the political fray.

“The intelligence briefing sheds light and insight on the matter which will persist well beyond the elections, perhaps deciding Mnangagwa's fate even after he has won.”

It must be said that Mnangagwa has dug deep and extended the Marange and Chiadzwa diamond looting licence scheme to other areas such as gold, lithium and platinum mining, fuel cartels, etc. to securocrats, cronies, war veterans, church leaders and all those in a position to help him stay in power. Looting in Zimbabwe has gone into overdrive and the few well-connected have become filthy rich.

The recent Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary has confirmed Zimbabwe’s position as one of the most corrupt and lawless country on earth. Zimbabwe has attracted unscrupulous business at the expense of the honest long term investors and it s not surprising the country’s economy has sunk deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Mnangagwa can get away with sidelining his former military friends with his new found Faz friends. Can outwit the corrupt and incompetent Chamisa and his CCC friends into participating in flawed elections to give him political legitimacy. What he cannot cheat or falsify is Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. A Mnangagwa electoral victory next month will be greeted by a new wave of Zimbabweans living the country. Having denying them a meaningful ballot people will vote with their feet, a vote he cannot rig and drawing attention back to the elephant in the room - the collapsed economy!

“It is the economy, stupid!” said former US President Clinton. And when the chips are down it is the economy that boot Mnangagwa out of office.

“Give him the resources. Right now where is the money to campaign coming from? With the little resources he has at his disposal he is doing well. Zanu is so scared of him that's why they are blocking his rallies. If he did not have a plan or if he is not s threat they could not do what they are doing right now.

I know you are going to say why is he contesting. Still if he doesn't the elections will still go ahead. Remember CCC is not the only opposition in Zimbabwe. In fact that's what ZANU has always wanted for Chamisa not to have a political party and not to contest. Chamisa and CCC has exposed ZANU PF more than any political party in Zimbabwe. Let that sink!!”

Let me remind you that the people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC/CCC to implement the necessary democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. After 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU, they have failed to implement even one token reform. Not one!

With no reforms in place it is futile participating in these elections because all you will do is give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship. Zanu PF will do anything to ensure party victory including blocking CCC rallies, frogmarching voters, harass, beat and even kill people that is all part of “will do anything” so it is nonsense to complain.

Chamisa and company are participating in these flawed elections out of greed, the same reason they failed to implement even one reform during the GNU.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

You participate in the elections and you will give Zanu PF legitimacy.

These are the facts and you can refuse to accept them all you want that will never change the facts!

“Who does he send to Pretoria, or Addis Ababa or Gaborone at SADC? Zanu-PF has no reason to be fair, it will never be fair.

"It is the opposition that needed to be stronger and confront this regime as happened in 2008!”

Zimbabwe’s opposition and their fanatical supporters are very childish to put is mildly, they really think they can have their cake and eat it too. They have been told thousands of times that Zanu PF is rigging the elections and if they want to stop Zanu Pf rigging the elections here is the list of reform recommendations that must be implemented. The EU listed 23 reform recommendations.

Chamisa and company are participating in these elections knowing fully well that not even one token reform has been implemented since the last 2018 rigged elections. Chamisa is claiming he has winning in rigged election strategies. All hot air, of course.

Every day they complain about banned rallies, violence, ZEC denying them a verified voters’ roll, etc., etc. All these problem would not be their if they implemented the reforms! They don’t listen to advice and yet complain endlessly!

The truth is CCC are hell bent on participating in these elections regardless how flawed the process get out of greed and so they just paying lip-service to these complains.

CCC are sell outs and they are taking the nation for a ride! How long are we going to along this circus to continue?????

Mnangagwa is rigging these 2023 elections and will be granted political legitimacy too thanks to CCC's resolve to participating no matter how flawed the process got out of foolishness and greed.

Yes the foolish can also be greedy!

What Mnangagwa cannot rig is the reality that Zimbabwe is a failed state and that millions of out people are living in abject poverty. And ultimately it is the comatose economy that will have him booted out of State House!

It is the economy stupid!

In a year, a few of these helicopters will be grounded and in five years chicken will be roosting away from the midday sun! This is just another example of kiya kiya. And when kiya kiya becomes the norm in running the nation's affairs then you know you are in deep trouble.

The prospect of yet another five more years of kiya, kiya is unthinkable!

High Court has nullified Kasukuwere’s nomination as a presidential candidate.

Well, well. He thought he was going to sneak back into the country under the presidential candidate cloak. Now that has been rip off, passenger 34 will not set foot in Zimbabwe for a while.

“ZANU PF is afraid of it's Offsprings 😂😂😂”

Of course, Mnangagwa is afraid of Kasukuwere, they all know that he is ruthless thug and could dig out a lot of dirty on how Zanu PF is rigging these elections.

Offspring! How naive! Do you think the guns fired at Kasukuwere's house in November 2017 were firing paper pallets and not real bullets! Your naivety beggars belief!

No wonder you are one of those advocating participating in these flawed elections, your are so naive and gullible you have complete failed to grasp the political reality that participating will only give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship. Even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections you still foolishly believe you can win rigged elections. Lord have mercy!

@ Happy Home

“Yourself what have you done to stop the rigging?”

I am holding those who were elected to implement reforms and have failed to get even one reform in 23 years to democratic account.

I am also educating the wildebeest followers that they must open their eyes and minds because they are being misled. Trust me this is a tough job given that there are many who are so dumb they believe in this oxymoronic nonsense of winning rigged elections even after 43 year of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

And worst of all, they are hiding their stupidity behind venomous aggression, I am now public enemy number one who daring to say MDC sold out by failing to implement even one reform. They cannot name one reform MDC implemented because there is none but instead of calming them down that only inflames their anger. You cannot reason with someone who is brain dead!

You, Happy Home, what have you done to stop the rigging (assuming you have the intellect to know what rigging is, from you track record I don’t think you do)?

“You are right
Zanu does not want CCC to contest
This explains the continued harassment.”

Of course, Zanu PF wants the opposition to participate and that is why the party is allowing them to win a few gravy train seats and created POLAD to spice up the bribe. Ever since the 2008 GNU Zanu PF learned that it must maintain the image of Zimbabwe as a healthy and functioning democracy to get SADC to grant it legitimacy.

Zanu PF did not ditched its one-party state, per se, in that it continues to rig the elections and remain in power. What Mugabe did was to disguise the one party dictatorship with the outward appearance of a multiparty democracy by making sure the opposition participate in elections and have seats in parliament regardless how flawed and illegal the process get!

“If the election process is as flawed as you say, then why are Zimbabwe’s opposition and public participating in droves?” Mnangagwa has argued. Indeed, he even has POLAD members who publicly swear that Zimbabwe elections are free, fair and credible and Mnangagwa is the legitimate president!

No, Zanu PF wants CCC and the rest in the opposition to contest flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Zanu PF is a party of ruffians and they know they have to rig to stay in power and so they are rigging and the beating and even murder is all part and parcel of the rigging.

What Zanu PF does not want is to have any reforms implemented so that there are free and fair elections. It is tough enough rigging elections when you have carte blanche powers to rig and control all the institution and very aspects of the election process. It is even tougher, if not impossible, to rig free, fair and credible elections - ask Donald Trump, he tried and failed.

Zimbabwe’s elections are so flawed it is futile participating only to give the regime legitimacy. Just because the regime has allowed the opposition to win a few seats as bait, this does not make these flawed elections winnable much less free, fair and credible. But clearly the bait is working on the opposition leaders and has many fooled into believing in these winning in rigged elections strategies even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

Now that the wildebeest herd has the foolish notion of winning in rigged elections in their heads, and they are on the stampede, there is no stopping the herd, there is no reasoning with them. I know that!

“We have had this since last year. Repeating himself. What he does not get is that even if CCC does not participate, we still have Mwonzora and the rest who will legitimise the process. ZANU PF will still go as far as funding them to legitimise the process.”

True I have repeated the same things over and over again but alas there people like you who are so thick, shallow and slow who still fail to get get.

Take this issue of participating in the elections, you still fail to understand that:

the process is so flawed that even when Tsvangirai get 73% of the votes in 2008, it was not good enough to get him the keys into State House

that Zanu PF needs the opposition to participate to give the regime legitimacy and hence the reason why the opposition has always won a few seats, bait to ensure the opposition participate no matter how flawed the process get. And to spice up the bait Mnangagwa created POLAD to reward losing presidential candidates who swear the election were free, fair and credible and Mnangagwa is the legitimate president.

that the opposition have found the bait irresistible but to hide the real reason why they are hell bent on participating in the flawed elections, they claim to have winning in rigged election strategies. All hot air, of course, but there are many foolish enough to believe it even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections. Some of them hide their stupidity in believing such nonsense by being rude and aggressive. They would lynch you for telling them Zanu PF is rigging these elections, the more so because even in the deep recess of an empty head where the light of reason has never reach there is a voice saying “It is true!”

CCC and anyone with half a brain would boycott these elections because it is insane to participate to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship. Yes all those participating are doing it out of greed and/or insanity and only a first class village idiot would do it “Mwonzora and others are doing it.” Of course, it is a feeble justification for insanity and greed. It is laughable that our first class village idiot even believe CCC are not only being greed in participating but that they are doing a nation a great favour. How is it possible that in this the AI age we have amongst us austrapithecus afarensis throw back. No wonder the country is in a mess!

Many people are supporting Kasukuwere because in the current political realty of Zanu PF rigging these 2023 elections, Kasukuwere as a seasoned Zanu PF thug in his own right (at one point he was Zanu PF national political commissar) he is the one candidate in this rat race who might uncover some of Zanu PF’s vote rigging secrete. And the revelation of which might stop SADC rubber stamping these rigged elections with the usual “substantially free and fair” and granting Zanu PF with political legitimacy. That would be the only positive that could possible come out of his participation in these elections. Anything else has to be a no!

We must never ever forget that Saviour Kasukuwere is a ruthless thug and articles like this telling Tsvangirai to go hang for calling for electoral reforms and free and fair elections. Nehanda Radio has many stories in which Zanu PF thugs murdered opposition supporter in which Kasukuwere himself provided the transport for the murderers but presided over the beating and murder.

Some people are tempted to supporter Kasukuwere because “just to get rid of Mnangagwa, after all he cannot possibly be worse than Mnangagwa!” We have heard this one before - during the 2017 military coup and many came out in the street in support of the coup just to get Mugabe booted out. Of course, it was a foolish notion typical of those who refuse to think beyond the tip of their noses.

The primary purpose in 2017 was to get rid of the Zanu PF dictatorship and, of course, it foolish to take the attention off that object to achieve the less objective of removing the dictator, Mugabe, only to replace with another dictator because the dictatorship was still there. The objective now is to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and not to replace Mnangagwa with Kasukuwere.
Whether Mnangagwa is any better or worse than Mugabe, likewise Kasukuwere compared to Mnangagwa, is as meaningless as a hare judging which is more deadly a cobra or a black mamba when a bite from either is fatal!

The fact remains that MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one reform in 23 years and are participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. You do not want the truth to be said and so you are accusing me attention seeking, fighting CCC, etc., etc.

Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because we are stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship and MDC/CCC is helping the regime stay in power. If we are serious about getting out of the mess then we must not only deal with Zanu PF but with all the sell outs keeping the regime in power included their brain dead supporters who think Chamisa is a demigod that must not be held to account.

Chamisa et al are selling out in participating in these flawed election to give Zanu PF legitimacy. This message must be shout out from the roof top so that come 24 August even the village idiots will not say they did not know it!

These 2023 elections are as flawed and illegal as the 2013 elections and the only rational option then was to withdraw and so too is the only rational option now is to withdraw. MDC-N and MDC -T did not withdraw from the 2013 elections because of greed and CCC is hell bent on participating in these 2023 elections for exactly the same reason. Some people did not see the relevancy of the quotation in 2013 and they still do not see it relevancy today even with the benefit of hindsight.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because our people have been slow to react to events and worse still are seemingly incapable of learning from the past. Those who will not learn from the past are destined to relive the past mistakes. Zimbabweans are expecting to win these flawed and illegal 2023 elections even after Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections these last 43 years. To them the past elections are irrelevant!

ALMOST 500 people lost their lives in 12 588 accidents recorded during the first quarter of this year.

According to statistics on transport released by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat), one in four accidents resulted in a fatality.

“12 588 road traffic accidents were reported during first quarter 2023, from which were 474 deaths and 2 386 injuries,” ZimStat said.

“Of the 12 588 road traffic accidents reported during the quarter, 275 were fatal, with the month of February having the highest number of fatalities.”

This is just one of the indicators of Zimbabwe as a failed state. The high numbers of accidents per capita can because of the poor state of the roads, not road-worth vehicles, speeding, etc. Most of these point to poor governance.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state governed by corrupt and murderous thugs who are rigging elections to stay in power, the country will remain a failed state.

Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and company to forget the reforms during the GNU; it was not a generational thing.

Tsvangirai embraced Mnangagwa following the 2017 military putsch and left his SA hospital bed in a huff when he was promised a GNU. It was not a generation thing.

Eight months after 2017 coup, Chamisa was back in bed with Mugabe, Jonathan Moyo and the other G40 members - the very people MDC had abandoned. Chamisa has since fallen out with Jonathan Moyo. Now we hear Chamisa has new bed partners.

“We should stop pretending that as long as you hold elections you are a democratic nation. The elections must be free, fair and credible and that depends on having strong democratic institutions, free media, freedom of expression, etc.” President Barak Obama.

Sadly in Zimbabwe we are locked into pretending that the either free and fair or at the worst that the opposition have devised winning in rigged elections strategies (WIRES). It is none other than the opposition leaders themselves who have failed to implement reforms even when they had the golden opportunities to do so, because they believed in WIRES. MDC/CCC have insisted, they are hell bent, on participating in flawed elections because they have WIRES.

In their more serene moments, some of the leaders have admitted it is insane to participate in these flawed elections and confessed they are doing it out of greed.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. If you have failed grade one stuff, you should repeat or drop out. What is to point of some one now in Form 3 and yet they can still not do grade 2 stuff, as a senior official in the ministry of Primary and Secondary Education told a parliamentary committee recently?

The idea that Zimbabwe is holding yet another utterly meaningless election after 43 years of rigged Zanu PF elections is an outrage! Look dear even in so-called Demokratie coutries like USA, there were no free and fare elections. A young country like zimbabwe can only copy and Paste what democratic are practicing. Stop singing in the wilderness. The new world order has changed after the war in Ukraine. There is now a reset, crude but it is the reality on the ground.

I totally agree, the polarisation will mean both the East and West are now competing to take advantage of Africa! We need to put our own house in order or we will pay dearly for it!

Indeed, even our own fellow African countries are going for what is good for themselves and not for us. ANC has already made it clear they will not allow regime change in Zimbabwe. Zanu PF is rigging these elections and ANC will grant the regime political legitimacy.

“I get your point, they missed an opportunity during the GNU but what could they have done in the last 6 years to make it right?”

It is not just Coltart who has admitted on the sheer folly of participating in flawed elections, Biti has said the same thing.

“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimizing these sham elections which don't deliver. This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn't perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”
One of your listener asked you to speak to Coltart (or Biti) and ask them why they are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections. Good luck, because they will never ever admit they are doing it out of greed. Coltart did it in the book because he knew the whole book would be rubbish without having to admit what is clearly obvious already!

“We leave our children in total slavery in their own continent. Resources looted. Africa will be a shadow of its own in 100 years. Our grandchildren will curse us in our graves.”

The very essence of life and evolution, the Darwinian survival of the fittest passing on their advantage to the next generation, is about learning from the past to cope with the present and passing the knowledge to the next generation. This is all in our genes.

The chimp and humans have 98.8% of our genes in common because 6 to 8 million years ago we share a common ancestor. The chimps are our distant cousin, whether we like it or not.

Moses received the ten commandments from God 3 000 years ago and they still remain the corner stone of Christianity and Judaism to this day. Why? Because they were relevant 3 000 years ago and they still relevant today because man was prone to sin back then and is prone to commit the same sins today.

This argument that we must forget about the GNU because it is water under the bridge is absurd. How can the genes we inherited 6 m years ago, the commandment we received 3 000 years ago all be relevant to our lives and yet we must forget what happened 10 years ago especially when we still need the bloody to be implemented for us to get out of this mess.

Just because MDC/CCC sold out on reforms does not mean we do not need them (reforms) any more or that they cannot be implemented.

Your should be your secret it is not in Zimbabwe. Zanu PF has abolished the constituency voters' roll to a Polling Station (PS) voters' roll and increased the number of PS from 10 per constituency in 2008 to 60 this year. Votes are counted at each PS and so Zanu PF operative will have a pretty good idea who voted for the opposition at each PS.

Each and everyone of CCC’s so called winning in rigged elections strategies have all turned out to be hot air. Chamisa and company are participating in these flawed elections out of greed and are offering these strategies as cover to justify why they are will not listen to calls for reforms before elections. Fortunately for CCC leaders there are some nincompoops out there who will believe anything.

The rural voters know that their vote is no longer a secret and that Zanu PF thugs’ threats are real and serious. They will act according. MDC/CCC sold out on reforms and now they making the situation worse by claiming they can win rigged elections.

Zimbabwe is NOT a democracy. Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. CCC is pretending they have winning in rigged elections strategies to hide the real reason they are hell bent on participating in the flawed elections - greed. And the ordinary Zimbabweans continue to believe these oxymoronic strategies, even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

When are we going to open our eyes and stop pretending and this insanity??????

“We need our own organic type of democracy which isn’t dictated by those who oppressed others or start wars for resources like Obama did in Lybia.”

The laws governing free, fair and credible elections are as universal as the laws of thermodynamics, only an idiot would waste time reinventing any of these rules.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and the nation is deeper and deeper into despair, millions of our people are living in abject poverty. No doubt they will be comforted to know that we have just extended the Zanu PF dictatorship by another five years whilst the nation for your “organic type of democracy”!

The liberators from white colonial oppression have become the new oppressor because all they really cared about was power. This is the nightmare cycle that has come to define Zimbabwe. MDC/CCC leaders sold out on democratic reforms and have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for a share of the spoils of power.

With the country a failed state and millions of our people now living in abject poverty we need to implement democratic reforms and restore the rule law if we are ever to break this vicious cycle of today's liberators becoming tomorrow's oppressors.

@ Jefferson Chitando

“This election is about ..

Light vs Darkness

Everyone vs Few Rich ZanuPF Chefs

People vs Thieves and looters in ZanuPF

Peace loving citizens vs Violence Merchants of ZanuPF

Development vs Underdevelopment.”

If these elections were free, fair and credible then and only then would they be about “light vs darkness, etc.” These elections are not free and fair, the ordinary voters will have no meaningful say in these elections.

You, Chitando and your CCC friends know that Coltart was right back in 2013 and is right today. You lot are participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy in return for the few gravy train seats on offer as bait.

These elections are “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was (is) to withdraw” - there lies the light. The darkness is in participating out of greed, lying to the people CCC is going to win big and perpetuating their suffering. These elections should not be going ahead without first implementing reforms!

@ Doc Lingra

“Those that are very rich vs Those that want to be rich also.”

Could not agree with you more! MDC/CCC have gave up on reforms and free and fair elections when they sold out during the GNU. And ever since they have been participating in flawed elections for the few gravy train seats on offer as bait.

Mnangagwa has increased the bait by creating POLAD but had to limit the number of presidential candidates by calling for a US$20 000 nomination fee. If it was not for the US$20 000 nomination fee, Zimbabwe would have had a record 100 plus presidential candidates!

It is laughable that Chamisa and company are conning the naive and gullible pretending these elections about “light vs darkness”, “everyone vs looters” when all they are fighting for is a seat on the gravy train and join the looters.

Only a fool would believe that Chamisa’s 3 hour long “generational consensus” with Kasukuwere and Mzembi was about ending corruption. These G40 guys are seasoned thugs and Chamisa is asking for their help to get more gravy train seat. And for their part, the two thugs would want an opportunity to get back into power so they can take up the looting from where they left off. They are very hungry!

“OPPOSITION parties yesterday complained that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) gave their candidates a voters’ roll that is not searchable and could not be analysed in another development that risks to compromise the credibility of the August 23 elections.

Zec handed the political parties participating in the harmonised elections the voters’ roll last week after court battles by the Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).”

Chamisa and his fellow CCC leaders knew ZEC will never ever produce a verified voters’ roll. Zanu PF for its part knew CCC will participate in these flawed elections WITH NO verified voters’ roll, no free public media, with 3m in diaspora denied the vote, increasing cases of violence, etc., etc.

Indeed, CCC will claim to have winning in rigged elections strategies to masked why the party is hell bent on participating in the flawed elections. They will claim CCC will win big.
The truth is CCC are participating in these elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of the few gravy train seats on offer as bait. It is tragic that the ordinary Zimbabweans are being conned into participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating their own suffering.

“Mr Mukori ever since you started this charade about elections, what exactly has changed??”

By this charade, you mean holding MDC/CCC to account for being elected on a ticket to deliver democratic change and yet has failed to get even one reform implemented and worse still selling out by participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. What have I accomplished, you ask? Well I am holding MDC/CCC leaders to account and I am educating the ordinary Zimbabweans to open their eyes and see why the country is a failed state.

I have done all this in the face of abuse from both Zanu PF and CCC supporters who think the country's leaders are demigods who must never ever be questioned much less held to account.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and it is not only Zanu PF thugs’ fault; CCC and their fanatical wildebeest supporters have played their part. CCC and the village idiots are participating in these elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship. This is the challenge before us, not that I would expect a village idiot to understand that!

On the video, honourable Chibaya is leading songs.”

If these elections were free and fair CCC would win, the people are so desperate for change the would vote for a donkey if only to get Mnangagwa out. The reality is, the elections are NOT free and fair and it is insane to pretend otherwise especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

@ Cogito

“It needs to be directed towards Mnangagwa. He is directing his anger and energy to the wrong people who are as equal as him. Please, Mukori, do justice by troubling the right people rather than stressing us with these rhetorics, Blamentitis and Myopia.”

Mnangagwa is rigging these elections and I am angry with him for denying Zimbabweans their fundamental right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

I am also aware that MDC/CCC sold out by failing to implement even one reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Worse still, MDC/CCC are participating in these flawed elections out of greed to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus undermine the drive for reforms and free elections.

We can keep wittering about what Zanu PF is doing but the truth is there will be no meaningful change as long as the regime continues to get legitimacy from CCC and those of us foolish enough to participate in the flawed elections. Some people are stupid not to see the damage MDC/CCC sell outs are doing here!

“We have unwavering confidence that President Nelson Chamisa will be the next President of the New Great Zimbabwe, come August 23, 2023.

The regime in Harare is well aware of this fact, which is why they consistently pressure our innocent police officers into banning our rallies whenever we schedule them featuring President Chamisa.

Zanu PF is clearly in a state of panic.

However, nothing can impede the arrival of change when its time has come.”

Change is not going to come by repeating the same idiotic mistakes over and over again expecting a different result. Zanu PF is rigging these elections. The election process is so flawed and so illegal not even getting 73% of the votes was good enough for Tsvangirai to get the keys to State House in 2008. Participating in these flawed elections will only give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate our own suffering.

Zanu PF has been rigging elections for 43 years and it is sicken that anyone should pretend this is new and a sign Zanu PF is panicking! Just another feeble excuse to justify participating and one’s own insanity.

Biti and company are participating out of greed, they are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF is offering as bait. The ordinary Zimbabweans are participating to perpetuate the failed state and their own suffering.

I repeat, change will never come from participating in flawed election to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Change will come from implementing the reforms to restore rule of law and guaranteed free elections. It is a great pity that the penny has NOT dropped even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

“He’s trying to demotivate voters and cohes them to blame the likes of Nelson Chamisa e.t.c

Ndaitombofunga kuti this guy is an objective person.Ndakazoona kuti no no poison.”

Chamisa said he has winning in rigged election strategies so if CCC lost, it will only be because these strategies did not work. And to confirm it, Chamisa and company will be out in full force complaining that Zanu PF rigged the elections - acknowledging the very thing the strategies were supposed to counter.

You can start your blaming game in the same vein as Zanu PF blaming everyone else for the country’s economic meltdown except itself. The hstoric fact remains that Zanu PF corruption and mismanagement have destroyed the country and like fashion Zimbabwe is stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship because MDC/CCC sold out in failing to implement reforms and in participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Zimbabwe Light said...

Zanu PF has been in office for 43 years now and you think it was because the people did not use their vote? How stupid is that! The people of Zimbabwe do not have a vote, that is exactly what rigged elections mean!

UZA are participating in these flawed elections because you are after the few gravy train seats, your presidential candidate was eyeing the POLAD freebies but failed to raise the US$20 000 nomination fees.

Zimbabwe’s opposition leaders are greedy and in their greed they have become corrupt, stupid and utterly useless!

@ Mhondiwa

“Wilbert, you post same message regularly with no recommendations 🤔.

Withdrawal doesn't have any impact. Life goes on, just like POLAD.

Bused attendees vs free funding attendees is bound to be like that.”

There is a mountain of evidence to show Zanu PF s rigging these elections and thus the futility of participating expecting a CCC win. Worse still, it is clear that by participating you will give Zanu PF legitimacy, undermine those demanding reforms before elections and perpetuate the failed state - the very thing most people are desperate to end.

Chamisa and company are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections out of greed, as Coltart confessed.

I have said it a thousand times that it is insane to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the failed state. Better still, do not participate and denounce the election process as farce and CCC for selling out and make sure SADC does not grant Zanu PF legitimacy.

“Withdrawal doesn't have any impact!” And you think participating to perpetuate the dictatorship has an impact even after 43 years of Zanu PF mafiosi rigging the elections? The sheer stupidity of it all has left me speechless. No wonder the country is a failed state and, at this rate, will never ever recover!

Zimbabwe's elections are not free, fair and credible and as a result we do not have quality competitors but ruffians led by the incumbent Mnangagwa who has been in power these last 43 years only because Zanu PF rigged the elections.

Our failure to demand reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections is the reason why Zimbabwe's political system is a sewage swamp. There can be not quality leaders as there can be no quality fish from a sewage swamp.

There is nothing to be gained by participating in flawed elections just as there is nothing to gan from fishing in a sewage swamp!
