ANC asking SADC summit to be moved from Harare is eating humble pie and a body blow to Zanu PF. W Mukori

"The Democratic Alliance (DA), a South African opposition party, has urged the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to relocate its upcoming summit from Zimbabwe due to ongoing human rights abuses. The DA calls on South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to demand a venue change for the 44th Ordinary SADC Summit, scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Harare," reported New Zimbabwe.

"The DA cites recent state-sponsored crackdowns on pro-democracy activists in Zimbabwe, including the detention of opposition politician Jameson Timba and 77 activists, and the arrest of four democracy activists at Robert Mugabe International Airport. The DA argues that the Zimbabwean government's actions violate SADC's founding principles of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. They stress that holding the summit in Harare would endorse Zimbabwe's alleged abuses and undermine SADC's principles.

"The DA is calling for a firm stance from South Africa and SADC to uphold democratic values and ensure the summit is held in a location that respects these principles."

Some of us said the failure by ANC to return its absolute majority in the 29 May 2024 SA elections was the game changer. The era of ANC leaders’  foolish arrogance of propping up the corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime in the name of keeping a fellow liberation war sister political party in power at all cost, was over.

At its November 2022 ANC Congress, the party had passed a resolution that it would not allow regime change in Zimbabwe. So was Zimbabwe a province of SA?

There is no doubt that it was ANC that used its influence to pressure SADC to do nothing even though SADC and AU election observers condemned Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections.

Mayo oh mai! The 29 May 2024 SA elections has forced the mighty ANC to eat humble pie. Until then Zimbabwe was a province of SA and ANC would have been providing Zanu PF more whitewash to paint trees and the requisite propaganda to gloss over all Zanu PF’s wrong doing. Not any more!

I do not think Mnangagwa saw this one coming! If the SADC summit is moved from Harare, no doubt the regional body will stripe Mnangagwa of the chairmanship too. Even if the Summit goes ahead and Mnangagwa is allowed to assume the chairmanship, there is no denying the very fact that SADC was asked to have the meeting moved has more than forced Mnangagwa to eat humble pie; he is fatally wounded.

Mnangagwa knows that rigging Zimbabwe’s 2028 elections is one thing getting away with it will be impossible even if Chamisa and company participate, as usual, to give him legitimacy.

It was not the dictatorship that stopped you guys implementing even one token reform all these years.

“As a collective political leadership, we should have taken time to apply our minds to the existential question:

“What next after the GNU?”
We did not address this matter.
This was suicidal.” confessed Professor Arthur Mutambara in his Book In
Search of the Elusive Zimbabwean Dream, Volume III (Ideas & Solutions).

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” boasted ZAnu PF cronies when asked why MDC were not implementing any reforms.

It is a historic fact that MDC/CCC leaders did not implement the reforms because of greed and incompetence. We should not waste time and insult each other’s intelligence arguing about facts!

@ Bachipeneti

You have no clue what the reforms are much less how they are implemented, all these things have been explained to you a thousand times but you still have no clue.

People like you should not have the vote in a country like Zimbabwe with unscrupulous buffoons like Mnangagwa and upstarts like Chamisa who have brainwashed you to do their dirty bidding. You are so thoroughly brainwashed you do even realise it is in your own interest as a citizen that leaders are hold to account.

How anyone can regard a mere mortal like Chamisa as a demigod in this day and age beggars belief!

It appears that the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) may not address its critical report on Zimbabwe's 2023 elections during its 44th summit in Harare on August 17.

The report, led by former Zambian deputy president Nevers Mumba, criticized the elections for failing to meet constitutional and regional standards.

Revisiting the disputed elections nearly a year after the event was always going to be wishful thinking especially given the chaotic state of Zimbabwe’s main opposition.

"It is no to the benevolence of the butcher, brewer and baker we should expect our dinner but from their regard to their own self-interest," Adam Smith advised. In Zimbabwe we are now dependent on the benevolence of a dictator paying from his own pocket (will not bother to ask where he got the money from) for the repair of a dam! What is the dictator's self-interest?

To retain his iron grip on power hence the need to rig elections, Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections, so he can continue to enjoy absolute power and control over us and to loot.

We MUST stop Zanu PF rigging 2028 elections or, at the very least, make sure the regime does not get away with it. We must restore the individual right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and end the dependence on mendacious humanity of a dictator.

Mnangagwa is corrupt, incompetent and a murderous buffoon and the only advice I would give him is that he should leave state house a.s.a.p. and should be very grateful if he does not spend the rest of him life in prison. Of course, the nation must recover as much of the looted wealth from him, his family and cronies.

Whether he likes it or not change is coming and instead of controlling events, events will control him. Mugabe was lucky to be forced out of office, the guy who wakes him up may have a twitchy finger!

We must play no part in enabling evil and make no mistake the Mnangagwa regime is evil. They lie, kill and destroy.

The abuse of political rights and the arrests of activists over the last few days is more justification of that position.

How can we claim to care about human rights on the global stage while ignoring the most blatant abuse of rights that has derailed the SADC region.

What Emmerson Mnangagwa and Robert Mugabe have done over 44 years is one of the greatest atrocities of history. We must not diminish this oppression because it is happening to black bodies.”

Congratulation on your election as MP.

I could not believe that ANC would prop up Zanu PF to the point of passing a party resolution “Never to allow regime change in Zimbabwe!” as if Zimbabwe was nothing but some apartheid-day Bantustain of SA!

Zimbabwe has had the great misfortune of have a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless opposition in the form of MDC/CCC. They have failed to implement even one token democratic reform in 24 years including 5 in the GNU.

"Hamuna bankable options!"

We have been here before, I do not have bankable options and you have - you have believed Chamisa’s blatant lies that he has plugged vote rigging loop holes and participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. I have told you it is better not to participate in flawed elections than to do so to give Zanu PF legitimacy. How anyone can still insist the latter is a a better option even now with the benefit of hindsight speaks volumes of the the individual and explains why Zimbabwe is a failed state!

You are one of those who will see but never perceive and hear and never understand. The gift of comprehension is the one thing many Zimbabweans do not have. What is obvious to some is a complete mystery to others.

You and 2 million others will participate in flawed 2028 elections to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship because “there is no bankable alternative”! Plan A would be to implement reforms but Chamisa and company have failed to get even one token reform implemented these last 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, they will not implement any now. Indeed, he is marking time demanding that SADC revisit the rig 2023 elections.

Plan B is not to participate in flawed elections on the back of idiotic lies from Chamisa because that will only give ZAnu PF legitimacy. SADC Election Observers, just like EU and others, have all recommended that Zimbabweans should implement the reforms before participating in flawed elections. Good advice wasted on those without the intellect to comprehend even the simplest notions.

It is not your fault that you are mentally challenged. You are who you are. Of course, it is frustrating that the nation should find itself living the consequences of 44 years of rigged elections because of people like you’s stupidity. Still it is not your fault you are stupid or is it!

@ Chin’ono

“Chin’ono Suggests Establishing A Government In Exile .

Government in exile to challenge Mnangagwa's Illegitimate regime

Hopewell Chin'ono has suggested there be an establishment of a government in exile that will challenges and expose Mr Mnangagwa's illegitimacy and expose the corruption by the regime. Below is what he wrote in full:

"While the fight for freedom continues in Zimbabwe, it is now important to establish a Government in Exile that will challenge Mnangagwa’s illegitimate and corrupt regime internationally.

Mnangagwa’s repressive crackdown on pro-democracy activists is intended to protect his loot and the criminal network that benefits from access to public funds.

The regime and its supporters must now be isolated internationally, targeting known bank accounts and investigating additional ones that remain undiscovered, and more importantly targeting private properties bought with looted funds.

With the international community taking notice and condemning ZANUPF’s corrupt rule and repression, there will be increased support for the establishment of a Government in Exile to represent the interests of the Zimbabwean people on the global stage.

Elections will never work, appeasement will never work, the struggle must now stepped up!
Mnangagwa and his regime must go for Zimbabwe to prosper.

A list should be produced with all the local companies that are benefiting from Mnangagwa’s corrupt rule for citizens to boycott them.
All the international companies that do business with Mnangagwa must be boycotted and exposed in their countries of origin!

The terrain for this struggle must now change, we will remember those who help us when we attain our freedom! "

Ends////

While Chin'ono's idea is an option, he did not address the composition of that Government in Exile. It is crucial that this government does not include individuals who are evidently capable of becoming like Mr. Mnangagwa (save for currently lacking guns and state agents),whom the cause seeks to remove. Recently some power-hungry figures have shown their true colors, indicating the potential nastiness that awaits if power falls into their hands. And another group would mindlessly follow and cover up their actions.

To form a Government in Exile, extensive consultations, input, and thorough deliberation are essential to ensure a government composed of worthy individuals otherwise a future Zimbabwe will fall into oppression all over again.

As thoughts align with Chin'ono's idea, Zimbabweans might not need it if all citizens unite and stand together to demand SADC to stop the summit and first address the legitimacy crisis in Zimbabwe. This crisis was born out of the sham 2023 elections, which SADC itself condemned in its SEOM report and deemed not free, fair, or credible by international observers.

Please follow our Citizens Movement Radio Channel using the link below.”

The people of Zimbabwe must address the nagging issue of failing to end the Zanu PF dictatorship even when we had the golden opportunities to do so and participating in our millions in flawed elections knowing fully well that doing so would give Zanu PF legitimacy. When millions were easily conned by Chamisa’s idiotic lies about plugging all vote rigging loop holes it spoke volumes about the nation’s readiness to be a healthy and functioning democracy!

A government in exile or at home demands competent leaders and a knowledgeable electorate; there is nothing to make me believe we have such leaders and followers.

@ Itayi Tawona Muchemwa |

“The current state of the opposition in Zimbabwe is a far cry from the vibrant, united, and determined force that emerged in the early 2000s. Today, inconsistency, disorganization, and a lack of zeal have become the hallmarks of the opposition, costing them dearly and handing a golden opportunity to the ruling Zanu PF government.

The opposition’s inability to present a united front, articulate a clear vision, and demonstrate a consistent stance on key issues has created an environment of uncertainty and skepticism among citizens. This disorder has gifted Zanu PF a goal, allowing them to capitalize on the opposition’s weaknesses and maintain their grip on power.

Despite the people’s desire for change, the opposition’s lack of zeal and inconsistency will likely lead to a familiar outcome: Zanu PF retaining power. The people will be forced to vote for the devil they know, rather than risking their trust on an opposition that has failed to inspire confidence.”

What is it exactly the opposition accomplished in the early 2000s to merit the praise of “vibrant, united and determined force”? Nothing! The first real test of their vibrance and focus was in 2005 when the question arose whether or not they should accept the newly formed Senate and participate in the elections. They did not agree ending up with the first split when Welshman Ncube and others broke away.

There has never been any quality leaders in the MDC/CCC and their track record says it all. The only reason the opposition has survive to this day is because there is no quality electorate either. The Zimbabwean people are an ignorant, naive and gullible lot who are easily conned and follow blindly like sheep to the slaughter. They have clamour for change but, even now with the benefit of hindsight, they have no clue what that change is much less why MDC/CCC have failed to deliver even one token change in 24 years!

Zimbabwe Light said...

You got into state house thanks to the military coup, you prefer to call it a military assisted transition. You rigged the 2018 and 2023 elections or be it with the connivance of the MDC A and CCC who participated in the flawed elections; “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw,” as Coltart readily admitted; to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

“If the people say I should go for a third term. Whom am I to refuse!” But of course given you rig the elections and are guaranteed of another electoral victory.

The only fly in the ointment is that the corrupt and incompetent opposition is losing political credibility in the country and outside it is doubtful if they will corral millions to participate in the flawed 2028 elections on the back of another idiotic “I have plugged all vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” lie. SADC and AU condemned the 2023 elections and if the failure to produce another high Chamisa Chete Chete voter turn out will force SADC to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy.

The Zanu PF victory in 2028 much less Mnangagwa third is not assured! Both Zanu PF and the opposition are losing political credibility with each passing day, Zanu PF’s Vision 2030 is turning out to be a mirage whilst the opposition’s 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, with not even one reform implemented is under the spotlight like never before. Time is not on Zanu PF or Chamisa’s side, the fog is lifting and the truth will only become obvious for all to see.

“If the people say I should go for a third term. Whom am I to refuse!” Mnangagwa is drunk on the prospect of staying in power for a third time. Zanu PF is certain to rig 2028 and their sidekick MDC/CCC is certain to participate in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. Still it is not certain yet that the regime will get political legitimacy from SADC for three reasons:

- the fog is lifting and many can see Vision 2030 is a mirage
- MDC/CCC are losing political credibility after 24 years, including 5 in the GNU and not even one token reform implemented. Chamisa will not con as many to participate in 2028 on back of another plugged all vote rigging loop holes lie.
- SADC and AU condemned 2023 elections and are certain to do so again in 2028 and, given the fall of ANC in 29 May 2024 elections, SADC will deny Zanu PF legitimacy this time.

Zimbabwe is a failed state; our economy is in ruins, we locked in political turmoil and paralysis and millions of our people are living in abject poverty. We have failed to hang on to whatever we inherited from the white colonial regime 44 years go.

Some people are so dumb they are denial we are a failed state, as if denying it changes the reality on the ground making it more palatable. Of course, it is dumb and fanciful and must be dismissed with the contempt it deserves.

We ARE a failed state and must ask ourselves why we are failed state. Answer: we are failed state because we failed to govern ourselves.

Why have we failed to govern ourselves? This is a profound question that must be interrogated thoroughly and unflinchingly.

The white colonial regimes denied black the title deeds to even a few acres of land on which their rural home stood for fear the blacks would demand political rights next. It is unforgivable that Zanu PF has too denied rural folk title deeds for the same selfish political reason.

If povo are still denied title deeds in 2028 that, more than anything else, is proof Zanu PF will be rigging the elections. The best response would be for everyone else, rural povo will be frogmarched to the polling stations, not to participate in the flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Mmusi Maimane, leader of Build One South Africa (BOSA), has argued that South Africa should sever diplomatic ties with Zimbabwe, criticizing the Mnangagwa government as a dictatorship. Maimane asserted that the recent arrests and abuses of political rights justify his position and condemned the South African government for allegedly ignoring these human rights violations.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has supported calls for moving the SADC Summit venue from Zimbabwe due to these concerns.

In contrast, African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson Zuko Godlimpi stated that South Africa will not isolate Zimbabwe. He noted that while the ANC acknowledges the issues in Zimbabwe, it believes that any intervention should come from within the SADC community and be part of the summit itself.

The 29 May 2024 SA elections which saw ANC lose its absolute majority for the first time since getting into power in 1994 was the game changer. In 2022 ANC passed a party resolution “not to allow regime change in Zimbabwe” as if Zimbabwe was nothing more than one of SA’s bantustan of apartheid days.

There is no denying that ANC played a major role in getting Zanu PF off the hook regardless of the SADC and AU damning 2023 elections report. Zanu PF rigged the elections and ANC helped the regime stay in power because it is a fellow liberation movement and they have the divine right to rule.

Well the 29 May 2024 SA elections results have knocked the stuffing out of ANC of having the divine right to rule and ended the party’s patronising arrogance of interfering in Zimbabwe’s internal affairs.

Even if the SADC summit is not moved to another revenue and Mnangagwa goes on to be SADC chairman; there is no doubt that ANC’s over zealous protection of Zanu PF regardless of the later’s dictatorial conduct will no longer go unpunished. The very fact that SADC was even called to consider moving the summit has left Zanu PF fatally wounded!

Zanu PF will rig 2028 elections, it is in the regime's DNA to rig election. Will the regime get away with it, given there will be no ANC to support it, is the million dollar question.

Ex-Foreign Affairs minister warns Mnangagwa of creepy ‘Mugabe superstar dictator disease’

SELF-exiled former Foreign Affairs minister, Walter Mzembi has issued a stark warning to President Emmerson Mnangagwa of an impending palace coup by the same grouping of Zanu PF politicians cheering him as he clamps down on real and perceived detractors.

Believed to be holed up in neighbouring South Africa, Mzembi said late former president Robert Mugabe, in his last days, was afflicted by what he termed “superstar dictator disease” which made him paranoid and started seeing enemies in everyone.

“Mugabe suffered this disease of always shouting at people when he took the podium; the briefings he got incensed him, but it was all part of the act and conspiracy.

“They would tell him ‘You are a revolutionary you go down fighting’. Some of us desperately trying to prop up Brand Zimbabwe as part of our brief and mandate, would warn him as l do to my Murambwi brother here that they are trying to set you up for failure,” said Mzembi.

The former Cabinet minister in Mugabe’s long reign, said Mnangagwa was surrounded by liars who were creating and peddling false narratives to prompt him to make irrational attacks against real and perceived detractors.

“Your rhetoric and the clampdown on civil society are all part of the act to make you look very bad, a superstar dictator hosting a SADC Summit. So, they make you see ghosts and enemies in your own people and children, arrest and torture them in your name and spread footage which also goes viral in your own ‘mhesvamukono’ language!

“Soon, you start receiving phone calls from your own SADC colleagues under pressure from the international community alarmed by such blatant and brazen violation of human rights and the next thing you have a boycott of this summit, and your own people box you exactly where they want you to be, an incompetent leader!

Wake up and smell the coffee Mr President, you are being set up to fail by your own. Stop this operation against your people, its loaded with conspiracy,” said Mzembi.

The warning has all come too late! The man is sick body and soul with this so called “superstar dictator disease”. And if the truth be told; all the Zanu PF cronies, they are addicted to absolute power and all the wealth it has brought them. They have all caught the superstar dictator disease; they are all dictators in their own right, in their own small way.

They all love power so much so they would rather burn the whole country down rather than give up an inch their privileged lifestyle. The nation had its best chance ever to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The golden chance was wasted and now the nation is like a boat with a no sail, no oars and no rudder in the stormy sea. God only knows how this whole tragic tale will end or when!

"There is no room for factionalism at any level in the party," Chiwenga stated. "Our loyalty is not to individuals but to the bigger agenda, that of the party and the people of Zimbabwe who are supreme.”

This is a truck load of bull! He has played his part in imposing the Zanu PF dictatorship onto the nation all these last 44 years. Zanu PF blatantly rigged last year’s elections as both SADC and AU election observers have confirmed, for example: VP Chiwenga has said nothing against the regime usurping the people’s power.

He is only now waking up to the reality that to achieve the “ED2030” ambition Mnangagwa will once again have to usurp the people’s right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. He only cares about it now because Mnangagwa is trading on his, Chiwenga’s, own ambition of becoming the next dictator. He is recognising the people’s right temporary because doing so serves his own selfish interests.

The people were use to support the 2017 military coup thinking it would end the Zanu PF dictatorship. It did not! All that happened was replace on dictator with another. The people must must allow themselves to be abused again.

There was never an real hope that Mnangagwa would revive the Zimbabwe economy much less to see it thrive to achieve upper middle income status, vision 2030. Zimbabwe was a pariah state when he took over in 2017 and there was never any hope of that change and his failure to hold free and fair elections confirmed the country was still a pariah state.

AfDB has confirm there is a gapping US$3.7 billion finance gap in Zimbabwe's finances and, without the money, will never achieve the vision 2030.

Ironically Zimbabwe is losing a staggering 80% of its US$2 per year gold trade or US$1.6 billion, nearly half of US$3.7 billion gap. Mnangagwa promised to stamp out corruption but has failed.

Vision 2030 is but a mirage by moonlight!
