ZimRights accuse MDC-T of insincerity in boycotting elections - back in 2013 yes but not now!

ZimRights Mashonaland West provincial chairman, Mr Takesure Musiiwa accuse MDC-T of insincerity in boycotting elections and demanding so-called electoral reforms now when the party co-authored the new Constitution.

"It is strange that MDC-T says they will not participate in elections until there are reforms when they participated in the process that brought about the Constitution," he said.

"The same people convinced Zimbabweans to vote "Yes" and now they say they cannot participate in elections until there are reforms."

Mr Musiiwa said MDC-T got into a "comfort zone" when they entered into the inclusive Government.

Of course MDC-T were not sincere when they repeated assured the nation that the Copac constitution was a democratic one and that it would delivery free and fair elections. We all know that it is a weak and feeble constitution and that it failed to deliver free, fair and credible elections.

Mr Musiiwa is right to say MDC leaders were in their “comfort zone” during the GNU; they were so comfortable they forgot they were in the GNU, above all else, to implement the democratic reforms and draft a new democratic constitution. Indeed Mr Musiiwa is being very diplomatic; others like Mukanya Thomas Mapfumo was a lot more direct and accused MDC leaders of “selling-out”.

We have to accept that the Copac constitution is a weak and feeble constitution, accept that raft of democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 GPA were not implemented, accept that the July 2013 elections were a mockery of what free, fair and credible elections should be and, most important of, accept that there will never be free and fair elections until we have a democratic constitution and have implemented all the reforms. We have to accept these because they are historic facts and realities.

If we accept that the Copac constitution is weak and feeble and all the other facts and realities above, surely it follows as day follows night that taking part in an elections process without a democratic constitution and no reforms is futile because those elections will be rigged guaranteed!

MDC-T, MDC-Renewal and MDC (Ncube) were not sincere in assuring the nation the July 2013 elections would be free and fair but they are being sincere now in calling for elections boycott until the necessary measures are taken to ensure the elections are free and fair.

Last month MDC-T produced a list of eight electoral demands they want Zanu PF to implement before they will call-off the elections boycott. The list is a watered down version of the original GPA list of reforms; MDC-T is once again not being sincere in assuring the nation that the implementation of its wishy-washy reforms would deliver free and fair elections.

MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent, it is naïve to expect such individual to be sincere and honest about anything they say or do. MDC leaders betrayed the nation in failing to get even one democratic reform implemented throughout their five years in the GNU. They sold-out!

The one thing the nation can count on Tsvangirai, Biti, Ncube and the rest of the MDC leaders to do, given half the chance, is to sell-out again! So if the people of Zimbabwe elect MDC back into power again then one can only say the nation sincerely deserve to suffer!

Economic meltdown hits war vets hard but Mutsvangwa it is "deliberate maladministration plot"!

Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is real and it is sparing no one. The war vets, some of the few people who have thought that they will somehow remain untouched by the economic chaos, are now admitting the economic hardship are affecting them too.

The Zanu PF regime has been struggling to find enough money to pay civil servant wages let alone all other financial commitments. It turns out that since last year the regime has not been paying school fees and pension allowance for war vets.

"We understand there has been a deliberate plot to push comrades into indebtedness through the administration or maladministration of their pensions and allowances," Minister responsible for war veterans, Christopher Mutsvangwa.

There are people like Minister Mutsvangwa who are still in denial of the economic meltdown; they still live in their own cloud cuckoo-land in which all Zimbabweans enjoy the lives of leisure and luxuries as that enjoyed by the Mugabes and a few of his cronies. According to Minister Mutsvangwa, the economic meltdown the nation is suffering is a result of the three and half decades of criminal waste of human and material resources through mismanagement and corruption but merely a “deliberate maladministration plot!”

After three and half decades of waiting for this Zanu PF mass prosperity; even the most naïve and gullible of the war vets must now realize that Mutsvangwa’s cloud cuckoo-land is a myth, there is mass poverty in Zimbabwe and it is getting worse by the day.

Many of the war vets have continued to support the Zanu PF dictatorship convinced the regime would never allow them to sink into economic poverty that have ravished the povo. They have had a very rude awaken; welcome to reality comrades!

The most important lesson for the war vets to learn from this is that no nation can prosper whilst there is so much waste of human and material resource as has been happening in Zimbabwe these last three and half decades. Stopping this criminal waste of resources is not a partisan issue but a national one. It is in all our interest that Zimbabwe is truly prosperous and stop this cloud cuckoo-land delusions of prosperity through waste.

The only way to end the economic meltdown is by carrying out the economic reforms designed to end mismanagement and corruption fuelling the criminal waste of resources and end the lawlessness which has kept donors and investors out of the country. Mugabe and Zanu PF have done nothing about the mismanagement, etc. because they are an integral part of the regime’s patronage system which has kept Mugabe and the party in power.

The country’s economic demise has dragged Mugabe and Zanu PF’s popularity down the drain force the regime to rely more and more on its patronage system to stay in power regardless of its negative effect on the economy.

With national economy in ICU, there is mounting pressure on Mugabe and Zanu PF today to end the patronage system behind all the country’s economic ills; on the one hand. On the other hand the regime knows that ending the patronage system will be to commit political suicide.

Of course Mugabe and his cronies will never do anything to dismantle the political patronage system the regime needs now more than ever to stay in power. It is not in the nature of tyrannical regimes to give up political power no matter how incompetent they have already proven to be, especially when the regime has so much loot to protect and so many hidden skeletons to keep under wraps as this Zanu PF regime has.

Of course, as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power and with it the political patronage system remains then the economic meltdown will get worse and not better.

The economic meltdown has not spared those within the Zanu PF ruling elite either; the shrinking national cake has resulting in serious infighting within the party. Zanu PF is imploding.

Zanu PF patronage system was always doom to result in economic failure because no economy in the world and sustain the level criminal waste of human and material resources it caused forever. Three and half decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have taken their toll on the Zimbabwe economy and ever since the rigged July 2013 elections the national economy has taken a dangerous nose dive and, unless something is finally done to end the economic waste, the national economy is heading for a catastrophic crash.

The people of Zimbabwe have a simple choice, either stand up to Mugabe and his cronies and demand the implementation of all the democratic reforms necessary for free and fair elections. Since Zanu PF itself does not have the vision nor will to end the political patronage system the only legally way of removing this regime and through free and fair elections.

The alternative is to let the Zanu PF dictatorship, which has from marched the nation right up to the edge of the abyss these last 35 years, to remain in power and drag us all over the edge into the abyss.

The fight for democratic reforms, free and fair elections is not a partisan issue but a national one.  The survival of this nation is now dependent on our ability to finally comprehend the seriousness of our present political and economic situation and stop this madness before it is too late. The survival of this nation is now dependent on groups like the war vets waking up to the reality that the economic meltdown is real and not “deliberate maladministration plot” as some brainwashed Zanu PF cronies like Mutsvangwa would still maintain!

Dr Magaisa advise MDC to take Mugabe's fictitious 63% rating serious - another stupid advice!

There is nothing more annoying that a man of little intellect masquerading as an intellectual! Dr Magaisa, former adviser to former Prime Minister Dr Morgan Tsvangirai is one such pretentious intellectual. Dr Magaisa’s praise and validating the latest Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) giving Mugabe a staggering 63% popularity rating; does not make any sense.

"President Mugabe still enjoys the trust of the people. Apparently, 63% of Zimbabweans surveyed trust President Mugabe. He enjoys greater support in his traditional stronghold, the rural areas where 70% trust him while he only enjoys 45% trust of the urban people. By gender, 62% of males trust him, while he is trusted by 64% of the women. An additional statistic is that 54% of Zimbabweans trust the ruling party, Zanu PF," wrote Magaisa.

Dr Magaisa was quoting his figures from the Poll survey conducted MPOI, in partnership with Afrobarometer, "both respected research institutions", he insisted.

"And lest we forget, the last time these two carried out a similar survey, back in 2012, they were dismissed in some quarters, especially in the opposition, but this attitude was not helpful. The outcome of their survey seemed to back the outcome of July 13," argued Dr Magaisa.

There is overwhelming evidence that Mugabe and Zanu PF blatantly rigged the July 2013 elections; this is a settled historic fact. It was MDC's failure to get even one reform implemented in the five years of the GNU that made it possible for Zanu PF to rig the elections – yet another settled historic fact.

Dr Magaisa as MDC leader Tsvangirai's adviser played a major role in MDC’s failure to implement the reforms and in ignoring advice from SADC and other parties to implement the reforms. Although Dr Magaisa has so far pointedly refused to deny that he advised MDC to do nothing regarding implementing the reforms everything he has said would suggest that is exactly what he advised. So MDC got stupid advice from a stupid adviser. And now Dr Magaisa is trying to cover his tracks by suggesting Mugabe “won” the July 2013 elections because the tyrant was popular as MPOI poll results showed!

Even if one accepted the 2012 MPOI results as true, they gave Mugabe a single digit poll lead over the opposition; which is nowhere near the landslide victory Zanu PF got in the July 2013 elections. So the surprise result would have made anyone suspicious and a close look at contact of the whole electoral process would have confirmed the election was rigged.

The most generous conclusion one can make is that since the July elections were rigged no one can say in all honesty that the July 2013 a confirmation of MPOI’s 2012 survey results.

Before the 2013 elections Zanu PF went on a charm offensive employing a number of PR companies in USA and UK to spruce up Mugabe’s image. These companies were paid millions of dollars for their services. Many people believe MPOI and Afrobarometer were some of the many companies employed to portray Mugabe and Zanu PF in a positive light and therefore not “respected research institutions” Dr Magaisa would have us believe.

It is hard to accept that Dr Magaisa is really as stupid as he appears to be; he could well be a double agent pedalling stupid advice to the opposition, gullible and naïve enough to take it again and again. His latest task is to give credibility and mileage to the latest false MPOI survey claiming Mugabe is more popular than ever regardless of the country’s desperate economic situation.

Zimbabwe is a country ruled by fear and ignorance resulting from barrage of deliberate misinformation. So until the nation is freed from these two evils one will have to take public survey data collected from such a public with a pitch of salt. Still, one can get away with serving mutton instead of lamb but not so with hot chilli; no one can be fooled for 35 years that they are prospering when everything tells them they are drowning.

Life expectancy has drop from 68 years in 1980 to 34 years in 2004, unemployment has soared to 90%, 16% of the population are living in abject poverty, millions have been forced to leave the country to escape economic hardships and/or political repression, etc. And the economic situation is getting worse, not better, by the day. So it does not make any sense that Mugabe’s popularity rating should be an impressive 63%!

The people are poor and ignorant but they are stupid to be thankful to Mugabe for ruining the nation’s economy and denying them their basic freedoms and human rights and dignities.

The worsening economic situation and the Zanu PF implosion has left Mugabe desperate for something to cheer about, this falsified MPOI poll would cheer the tyrant greatly and confuse the gullible opposition. Dr Magaisa is doing his bit to make sure the latter take the survey finding very seriously.

“The ruling party has struggled with its own politics and with the economy, which it cannot resuscitate. There is general frustration and an atmosphere of hopelessness,” admitted our double agent, Dr Magaisa.

Yet against this bleak background, the Afrobarometer survey suggests that President Mugabe and Zanu PF continue to thrive, enjoying public trust, particularly in the rural areas. This will please President Mugabe and his supporters but it will annoy and frustrate those in the opposition. But it is important to take a sober approach to all this and try to understand why this survey has produced these results,” concluded the double agent.

If only the economy could be so easily bamboozled by nonsensical survey results as Dr Morgan Tsvangirai was; no doubt MPOI and Afrobarometer would have published survey results showing country was creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs per month, well on course to fulfil Mugabe’s promise of 2.2 million new jobs by 2018.

Our double agent, Dr Magaisa played his part in making sure Tsvangirai did not implement any reforms and now the agent is busy denying the July 2013 elections were rigged. But even he cannot deny Mugabe has failed to rig economic recovery!!

False prophet Magaya revise his economic doom dates to the distant future!

The people of Zimbabwe should stop listening to false prophets like Magaya has prophesy of economic recovery did not happen and now he is moving the goal post into the distant future.

"It (economic recovery) does not happen overnight. I know that people are unemployed and the economy is not performing well, but what is needed is patience. We have to wait on the Lord. He is the one with the answer," he said.

"Last year, yes they were trying to put their house in order. I am talking about the ruling Zanu PF. I think they will now concentrate on the economy. We are going to enjoy relative peace and this should help us attract investors to Zimbabwe. I see the rise of Zimbabwe from there. But we need unity and patience as a nation," said Magaya.

This is just of the many false prophets who have emerged in recent years to profit misery of our people by giving them false hope. He is doing what all the others have been doing, talking nonsense.

The idiot is asking the people to be patient with Zanu PF as is the regime has only been in power the last few years. Magaya, Mugabe has been in power for the last 35 years! When he took over power from Ian Smith the country’s economy was strong and not the mess it is today. It was the three and half decades of unrelenting corruption and mismanagement that has got us into this mess.

You tell us that economic recover does not happen overnight, "We have to wait on the Lord. He is the one with the answer."

Are we to assume that God was not in any way involved in the Mugabe’s misrule of the last 35 years; it would be blasphemous to even suggest that He had a part in the corruption, brutal oppression and mass murders that have been the hallmarks of this Mugabe regime. So when exactly has God taken over and start implementing His answer?

Indeed it seems Mugabe successfully bribed Tsvangirai and his MDC friends so they would not implement any of the democratic reforms allowing the tyrant blatantly rig the 2013 July elections. Ever since the rigged elections the mismanagement and corruption have continued as before, it was business as usual and nothing has changed.

Zimbabwe is subject to the same laws of thermodynamics, economics, etc. as every other nation on earth. To tell the people that the nation can still prosper and thrive whilst those in power continue flout all the basic rules of sound economics is false theology.

The good Lord has given Zimbabwe rich soils and every season has seen to it we had adequate rain, he has gifted the nation a great abundance of flora and fauna and minerals. The fact that the nation has repeatedly failed to grown enough food to feed its own people and that millions are living in abject poverty has nothing to do with God, it is man’s doing. Our leaders have failed us and it is the duty of us the citizens to hold those in power to account.

The ultimate expression of democratic accountability is that the people should, if they so wish, be able to remove those in office and replace them with others in free, fair and credible elections. Those who have denied the people the right to meaningful and stifle the calls for the implementation of all democratic reforms necessary for the holding of free elections have argued the calls threatened “unity and peace”. This is nonsense and must be discounted with the contempt it rightly deserves.

It is the economic injustice engendered by the inequitable distribution of the nation’s wealth and riches that is causing the anger and divisions in our country.

No there has not been peace in Zimbabwe these last 35 years, over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans have been murdered and millions have been harassed, beaten and/or raped. It is not those asking for justice, democratic rights and human dignity who have committed these heinous crimes. They were all committed by those who sort to deny other their freedoms and basic rights to establish and maintain this de facto one-party dictatorship.

In a healthy democratic society the people have a right to peaceful protest. Zimbabwe is not a democracy and peaceful demonstrations have always met with brutal oppression from the regime. We should discount the lie that the Riot Police have been deploying to maintain law and order and peace; they are part and parcel of the set up to maintain the de facto one-party dictatorship.

In a way it is not surprising that the false prophets preaching their false theology and false prophesies of economic prosperity are now presenting the Riot Police and Zanu PF as the peace-makers and their victims as the criminals who have lost patience on the Lord’s miraculous economic recovery.

What Zimbabweans have to understand now more than ever is that Mugabe and Zanu PF have nothing left to get the nation out of the economic hell the regime landed us in. Mugabe’s Zimasset plan is dead in the water because no donor was willing to bankroll the hare-brain scheme. And as long as Mugabe and Zanu PF remain in power the economic meltdown will get worse and not better.

Whilst Mugabe and Zanu PF have no solution to end the economic misery this does not mean the regime will want to give up political power; far from it, this regime would want to hang on to power even if that means dragging the whole nation is the deepest chambers of hell! It is not in the DNA of tyrants to give up political power especially when they have so much loot to protect and a murderous past to keep under wraps.
The Zimbabwe economy is already in a hell-of-mess with unemployment a nauseating 90%, 16% are already living in abject poverty, millions have left the country as economic and/or political refugees, etc. The only way we are ever going to stop Zanu PF dragging this nation even deeper into this hell is by demanding the full implementation of all the democratic reforms agreed in 2008 GPA followed by the holding of fresh elections.

Zimbabweans rebuke Mugabe insult of Kalangas but dismiss MDC opportumistic demand!

Many people have been very forceful and direct in their condemnation of Mugabe’s stupid, stupid criticism of the Kalanga. In stepped Zimbabwe’s biggest clowns, MDC-T, and one has to digress to tell them to shut up!

“THE MDC notes with disgust the highly misguided, tribalist and inflammatory utterances by President Robert Mugabe at the on-going SADC summit, singling out Kalangas and others from Matebeleland South as "uneducated" and not qualified for jobs in South Africa,” read the MDC-T statement.

"We therefore call upon Mugabe to do the noble thing and resign first as the chairperson of the two regional bodies and also as the president of this country as he no-longer has the gravitas and requisite capacity to take these important institutions to the next level," concluded MDC-T statement!

It has been said of Alphonse Gabriel "Al" Capone, American gangster who attained fame during the Prohibition era, “it is better to get him on tax-invasion charges if the Authorities cannot get him on murder charges”. Is this then MDC-T’s attempt to do the same thing with Mugabe; they have failed to remove him from State House through the vote and so now they are hoping to do so by getting him to resign for using foul language. This has to be cheap politicking at its worst.

Mugabe has destroyed the Zimbabwe economy; three and half decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have taken their toll, the economy is now in total meltdown with unemployment a nauseating 90% plus and 16% of our people are now living in total abject poverty.

For 35 years Zanu PF has ridden roughshod over the people’s hopes and dreams denying them their basic freedoms and human rights including the right to a meaningful vote and the right to life itself. Over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans have been murdered by Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs to establish this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship!

It was none other than Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends who wasted the country’s golden opportunity to end the Mugabe dictatorship by implementing the democratic reforms. They had five years to do this but failed to get even one reform implement because Mugabe bribed them. They sold-out!

Having sold-out to the tyrant so we, the people, could not get rid of Mugabe in a free, fair and credible elections, MDC-T are now telling the nation they will remove Mugabe. They are asking him to resign, not for ruining the national or for murdering so many innocent people, for using foul language!

How can SADC and the rest of the world ever take Zimbabweans to be serious about end Zanu PF tyrannical rule when we keep following the very people how sold-out, wasting the nation’s best chance ever to end the Mugabe dictatorship, and are now clowning around issuing stupid statements. MDC supporters who keep following Tsvangirai are not doing the nation any favours this shows Zimbabweans are not yet serious about democratic change in Zimbabwe.

MDC finally admit SADC warnings on reforms and the "folly" of ignoring the warnings!

In a letter welcoming SADC leaders to the recent SADC Heads of State meeting in Harare, Luke Tamborinyoka, Director of Communications in the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and former Morgan Tsvangirai spokesman admitted that SADC heads had in deed warned MDC not to take part in the elections.

“Before the 2013 election, it is SADC that advised that reforms be implemented first and as a party; we have now realised the folly of our previous decisions to participate in the absence of the same,” wrote Luke.

Other than Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, one of the MDC-renewal MPs who lost his seat after MDC-T recalled all the rebels’ seats, who admitted that SADC and others had warned MDC about implementing the reforms and then not to take part in the 31 July 2013 elections without reforms and MDC had paid no heed to both warnings. Other MDC leaders had carefully avoided the subject although they were asked to comment countless times.

Tired of avoiding the subject of whether or not SADC heads had indeed advised MDC to implement the reforms, Tsvangirai finally addressed the matter and categorically denied that SADC head indeed advised his party.

"...I understand there are people who have been saying that the MDC-T participated in the 2013 elections against the advice of SADC, against the advice of some of the people in the country. Far from it," said the former Prime Minister.

"SADC did not advise us in any manner or form not to participate. In fact, they acquiesced with a push by Mugabe to have an election in spite of the absence of reforms."

Luke’s admission confirms, if anyone ever doubted, that SADC heads had indeed advised MDC on the reforms and warned them against taking part in the elections without reforms. The MDC leaders had avoided the subject these last two years, with Tsvangirai even lying about what happened, because they wanted to avoid answering the next question, why.

So you were warned of the need to implement the reforms and you chose to ignore the warnings. You had five years to implement the reforms and failed to implement even one single reform. Why?

It is a rhetorical question because we all know the answer but one that must be asked for the record.

SADC headers knew the answer; they accused MDC leaders “of enjoying their stay in the GNU and forgot why they were there”.

Mukanya Thomas Mapfumo was less diplomatic, he said Tsvangirai and the other MDC leaders had “sold-out”!

Of course the MDC leaders had sold-out. When they joined the GNU Mugabe created the biggest cabinet in the nation’s history to accommodate as many MDC as his own Zanu PF cadres on the gravy train. Tsvangirai got the $4 million Highlands mansion as a bonus!

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC people have learnt to enjoy gravy train privileges without rocking the boat!) Was the pithy remark one got from Mugabe loyalists boosted about why MDC leaders would never implement any of the all-important reforms!

It would be easier to get teeth from a hen than to get Tsvangirai and any of his colleagues to admit that they are indeed corrupt, breathtakingly incompetent and sell-outs. But that is to be expected.

What is important here is not make sure Zimbabweans know these individuals betrayed them in the most cruel and unforgiveable way – by selling out. But even more significantly that electing these people again would be folly because, without a shadow of doubt, they will betray the people again!

“Our congress, the supreme decision-making body of the MDC, has now drawn a line in the sand and has taken the position not to participate in any election whatsoever, be it by-elections or the next general election, if far-reaching reforms are not implemented,” wrote Luke.

MDC has already produced a list of eight reforms the party is demanding must be implemented for it to take part in future elections. Even if all the eight reforms were implemented, Zimbabwe’s culture of political violence will continue unabated; none of the eight reforms will do anything to end this very serious problem!

Tsvangirai and other have already proven beyond that they are breathtakingly incompetent by their failure to comprehend the important of the reforms, for example. Even now, with the benefit of hindsight, their list of reform demands is wilfully inadequate.

Once a sell-out always a sell-out!

It is all very well for MDC leaders to finally admit “folly” of their decision not to implement the reforms it is the ordinary people of Zimbabwe in the first instance and those in the whole SADC region who have now to live with the consequences of their folly cum sell-out.

The Zimbabwe economy is in total meltdown, unemployment has soared to nauseating heights of 90%, 16% of our people are now living in abject poverty, millions of Zimbabweans have fled to other countries in the region and beyond cause tensions there, etc. And yet Mugabe still refuse to accept he has failed, indeed he still talks as if his corrupt and chaotic rule is the example all should follow!

The last GNU had offered the best chance to end the Zanu PF dictatorship peacefully if only MDC had implemented the agreed democratic reforms. Now it is not clear when the next opportunity will come. Still the people of Zimbabwe must now prepare themselves and make when that opportunity presents itself it is not wasted; this time ALL the democratic reforms must be implemented without failure.

By continuing to follow the same MDC, Zanu PF, Mavambo, etc leaders who have already proven beyond all doubt that they are corrupt, breathtakingly incompetent and/or sell-outs Zimbabweans are telling SADC that as a nation we are not serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship, not yet!

It would be foolish for Zimbabwe to elect corrupt and incompetent leaders ever again and an unforgivable act of sheer political folly to elect the same corrupt, incompetent and sell-out leaders again!

Chinamasa lies Zim has "suspended" diamond tax to hide he failed to collect tax because of the rampant corruption!

Our Finance Minister, Patrick “Kiya-kiya” Chinamasa, is still grappling with how to deny the wholesale looting and plunder going on in Marange.  Every month the Minister has had to struggle to find the money to pay the civil servants let alone to pay for all the other things like consumables and food for the soldiers. There is billions of dollars in potential revenue from the diamond mining going on in Marange but so far he has not received a cent because all the money it being looted. He has been forced to go elsewhere to find the money. And here is where it has become really tricky; none of the other possible sources are willing to give him a cent, not when they know Zimbabwe is wasting billions in mismanagement and corruption.

Millions of Zimbabweans are unemployed today but they are eking out a living by becoming vendors, kiya-kiya. Zimbabwe must now have the biggest vendors to formal employment ratio in the whole world because it seems everybody is a vendor. The way Minister Chinamasa has run the country’s finance shuffling the dates each group of civil servants are paid, living from hand to mouth and always paying each bill or overdraft when one has absolutely have to; just as a vendor has to live from hand to mouth on negative cash flow, etc.; has earned Chinamasa the nickname “Kiya-kiya”.

The issue of the unaccounted Marange diamond revenue has once again been taxing our Kiya-kiya Minister’s other hidden skill of being economical with the truth.

“The government owns half the shares in all the mines in Marange, which produces alluvial diamonds that are of a lower quality than the gems mined at Rio Tinto's Murowa mine in south central Zimbabwe,” reported New Zimbabwe in its story, “Chinamasa suspends tax of diamond sales”.

“Murowa produced 344,000 carats in 2014 but production figures from mining companies operating in Marange area, which produced 14 million carats in 2013, are not yet available.”

A few months ago Information Minister Jonathan Moyo, Zimbabwe’s answer to notorious Nazi Germany propagandist Joseph Goebbels but with a ferret’s nose for juicy gossip to boot, twittered that “there will be a significant drop” in tax revenue from Marange diamonds.

A week later, Kiya-kiya Minister announced there were “no more alluvial diamonds” in Marange and Chiadzwa. None!

Of course Kiya-kiya was just being very economical with the truth. How is it possible that in 2013 Marange produced a staggering 14 million carats, it must have produced even more in 2014 because there was a hive of activity down there and now 2015 zero !

When Tendai Biti was Minister of Finance, he complained money that should be coming to government disappearing to fund a shadowy “parallel government”. He was talking of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), a Junta, comprising of a select elite from security chiefs, from Zanu PF including Patrick Chinamasa, former RBZ governor Gideon Gono, “Goebbels” Moyo who were invited to the strategic planning committee meetings only, Emmerson Mnangangwa and Robert Mugabe himself. This Junta had its own source of funding – Marange diamonds being the primary source.

The nation will never know how many millions carat diamonds were mined in Marange in 2014 because Finance Minister will have to explain why the public fiscus did not get a single cent in revenue! So just as Zanu PF refused to make public the voters roll for the July 2013 Zimbabwe elections because it is the smoking gun to the rigged vote; the regime is once again withholding information on the diamond mining activities in Marange in 2014 because that is the smoking gun that would prove the very existence of the JOC Junta.

Minister Patrick Chinamasa’s announcement that all alluvial diamonds in Marange had been exhausted was the Junta’s rather pathetic attempt to forestall further public demands for an explanation why he is still failing to collect any tax from diamond sales! Of course Chinamasa could not tell IMF and WB, from whom he was begging for financial assistance, the same cock-and-bull story of no diamonds left in Marange. They have their own sources of information to counter Goebbels Moyo’s propaganda lies, they know there still a hive of diamond mining activity in Marange.

"We have temporarily suspended the collection of the special dividend on diamond sales on the back of the drop in production and adverse price developments," Minister Chinamana said in his letter. The IMF has gone on to publish the letter on its website, for the whole world to read for themselves some of the nonsense they receive.

Needless to say Kiya-kiya Chinamasa returned from Washington DC empty handed. IMF and WB cannot continue to fund this Zanu PF regime and ignore all the looting and plunder that is going on in the country.

The irony is Zimbabwe would not be need IMF and WB funding if the country managed its vast resources and great potential well and stopped all this criminal waste through gross mismanagement and rampant corruption.  For example, Zimbabwe is believed to hold 25 percent of the world's reserves of opencast extractable diamonds valued at $800 billion, with the eastern Marange fields its major diamond source.

We have to end the corruption and criminal waste of these resources and thus end the heart-breaking human suffering the wastefulness has brought. We must end the Zanu PF dictatorship that created this wasteful system; Mugabe and his cronies have grown fat and filthy rich from the system and will not want to see it end.
The suffering people of Zimbabwe must demand the full implementation of all the democratic reforms Zanu PF and MDC agreed to in the 2008 GPA followed by the holding of free, fair and credible elections. This is the only way the nation is going to end this Zanu PF dictatorship and its kiya-kiya economy that has brought nothing but suffering and poverty to millions of Zimbabweans!
