ZIMBABWE HAS A CRYING NEED TO REPLACE TSVANGIRAI - NOW!

"Indeed it is historic in that we have managed to satisfy the minimum requirements of the Kimberley Process," Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai said in opening the sale.

Historic my foot! Chenai Chipikiri I hope this latest act of sheer stupidity has finally convinced you that Tsvangirai is indeed an idiot.

Here we are dealing with a ruthless dictator who turned the Police, Army and CIO on to defenceless people, like wolves on sheep, to intimidate rape and murder and thus force them to vote for him. Over 500 innocent lives were lost. You naively get the murderer off the hook by agreeing to a power sharing arrangement. He betrays you by not honouring the word or spirit of the agreement and treats you with total contempt.

Only the other day, on Hero’s Day, the dictator publicly announces that none of those responsible for all the intimidation, rape and murders will ever by prosecuted. The ever present threat of violence and lawlessness is THE single most important issue in Zimbabwe and the country can not move on until this matter is dealt with head-on. If those responsible for these heinous crimes are not going to be held accountable; then clearly this matter will never ever be dealt with!

The timing of Mugabe’s announcement could not have been more telling as it was made at the time of increased violence and lawlessness by Mugabe supporters who have effectively hijacked the constitution drafting process. The announcement was also made days after President Zuma of SA said he wanted fresh election in Zimbabwe next year. So Mugabe was just assuring his thugs they will never be arrested and so they can continue to be a law unto themselves.

As regards the diamond sales; Zimbabwe’s parliamentary committee has just been refused entry into Marange and the threat of prison term hangs over Farai Maguwu the human rights activist who was arrested for reporting human rights violation in Marange. And the Prime Minister is clearly proud Zimbabwe has “managed to satisfy the minimum requirements” whatever that means!

There is a crying need for Zimbabweans to replace Tsvangirai and his MDC before next year’s elections to give the nation a fighting chance of ever getting out of this Mugabe-made mess.

@ Dread Dread 6
The very fact that Tsvangirai did beat Mugabe in the March 2008, before Mugabe released his thugs to force the electorate to vote for him, an idiot per excellence; is itself a measure of just how unpopular Mugabe has become.

Tell you what Dread Dread 6 I will bet you US$1 000.00 that Mugabe would lose a free and fair election to Tsvangirai next year - even with Tsvangirai now a confirmed idiot.

I am a Zimbabwean and as such have a right to a meaningful say in the governance of my country. Mugabe has stifled debate, freedom of expression and because of the repression made it difficult for competent Zimbabweans to take part in politics. As a result the political field has been flooded with mediocre leaders like Tsvangirai. Now the country is in desperate need of competent leaders and out of desperation settled for an idiot.

I taken it upon myself to persuade my fellow Zimbabweans to look beyond the immediate need of getting rid of the ruthless dictator Mugabe and find a competent leader because there is an equally big challenge of getting the country out of this current Mugabe-made mess. Tsvangirai is certainly not up to that task!

Dread, I dismiss with the contempt it rightly deserve, the stupid notion that anyone who criticises the existing leaders or political parties must necessarily join a political party or found one of their own. Political leaders aspire to public office and therefore they are open to public scrutiny and account!

@Dread Dread 6

Of all the stupid explanations for Zimbabwe's hype inflation and cure yours takes the biscuit!

"Zim found out that her currency was being pressured leading to runaway inflation by the USA and UK. Zim hit back in a very smart and effective way by legalising the use of the USA dollar”. Classic!!!! None of your fellow Mugabe apologists ever thought of that one – even they must be blushing!

“Zim hit back in a very smart and effective way by legalising the use of the USA dollar”. This is too good to be read once – I will print it and hang it next to a cartoon of Tsvangirai talking to a snake (Mugabe) “Would you still bite it if I called you Mr Snake?”

Lets have some more! Yes, Dread that was a smart and effect move scrapping the Z$ for the US$ but please do elucidate; how was this a “hit back” to the USA and UK?

There is more! “All the evil effects such as ZIDERA lost steam with this one smart move by Mugabe, his Finance Minister then and Reserve bank Governor Gono.” Be careful now Dread, Mugabe is not going to like this. Only last week he was moaning about the targeted sanctions and you are saying they had no effect after the scrapping of the Z$ in 2008? @Dread Dread 6

“I wish Africa would move on and forget about what happens to a handful of white landowners who are stock in a colonial past.”

I wish things were that simple, the truth is there are not. Mugabe has seized what 90% of the white owned farms and you would think the dictator and his cronies will be contend with that. They are not, far from it. The more they have looted the more they wanted. They are two basic reasons why they are never satisfied; one everything they have touched has turned into ash. They have seized productive farms but, of course, failed to keep them productive. As my late mother would say “Munda hauzvirimi” - meaning it is the hard work that makes a field productive, it is no good having the field alone. And so they had to move on and loot another farm, and another; some Zanu PF officials have as many as five farms each!

Two, the looting by Mugabe and his cronies is the root cause behind Zimbabwe’s economic melt down. Millions of Zimbabweans now live in abject poverty and to stop themselves falling into the same poverty trap the ruling elite have had to step up their looting; just to keep their own heads above water.

Now that there a only a handful of white farms left the looter, like a swarm of locusts, have moved on. They have their beady eyes on any white owned private business. They have learnt something from looting the farms; this time they will not kick the white owners out, they want them to stay and work the business. Zimbabwe has a staggering 80% plus unemployment rate; you would expect government to be encouraging anyone with new money to open up new businesses and thus create more jobs. That will be common sense! Instead Mugabe and his cronies are forcing existing business to sell 51% of the shares to him and his ruling cronies. Their hope is the white owners will not let the business fail and thus for once the business will not turn to ash!

Even if all the whites were to walkout of Zimbabwe tomorrow the country will not move on. The discovery of the Marange diamonds is already proving to be a curse and not a blessing. The Marange people have had their lives turned upside down and soon the whole nation will too suffer. Government is set to get a tiny fraction of the diamond revenue and the rest Mugabe will keep to finance his party’s campaign of terror. Political violence has already started ahead of next year’s elections.

The international community, particularly the West, has allowed Mugabe to get away with murder; the policy of appeasement has not work. Your suggestion for the white farms who have challenged the legality of Mugabe’s seizure of their farms – and rightly so too – to drop the case is just an extension of this appeasement policy. What Zimbabwe needs is for everyone to stop appeasing Mugabe, it only makes the dictators even more arrogant, and turn on the heat on him!

You are right SADC will “essentially ignoring the situation (in Zimbabwe), and move on until their next meeting”. Those of us who have followed the heart breaking “fiddling whilst Rome burnt” that has been going on in Zimbabwe knew that nothing much would come from SADC or AU. Remember the months of endless negotiations before the GPA was signed. SA’s then President Mbeki, SADC and AU failed to put any meaningful pressure on Mugabe to get the tyrant to agree to a more meaningful power sharing arrangement; even Tsvangirai had complained about this let down. Not that Tsvangirai had made any earth moving demands; indeed, it was the canning fox, Mugabe, who had made the outrageous demands and most of which Tsvangirai had already conceded. Tsvangirai went so far as to ask Mbeki to be relieved of his position of mediator!

In the end Tsvangirai signed the one-sided GPA and was even pleased that SADC and AU are “the guarantors” of the agreement.

Of course, there was NO discernible reason for Tsvangirai’s renewed faith in SADC and AU. This was a simple case of Tsvangirai “talking” himself into believing the two organisations were strong, powerful and decisive to justify why he was signing the GPA.

The problem with Zimbabwe is not the dictator Mugabe, mediocre mediator, or toothless SADC and AU – we have had these all along. The problem is Tsvangirai; we have elected to have a pathetic leader to confront a seasoned and canning fox like Mugabe. Tsvangirai is simple not up to the task and nothing will ever be achieved as long as he remains in charge!

@Dread Dread6
The UN report said that 1.7 million Zimbabweans will need food aid this is for a nation that used to produce enough to feed its own people and have excess for export. You should also fact in the fact that SA paid R300 million, the US paid US$20 million and God knows how many millions the Zimbabwean people paid the new Zimbabwe “Cell Phone” Farmers to produce the crops they did. Some one has to look into this carefully; it could well be that it would have been cheaper to buy the food than pay all this money to these looters and get so little. The money would have gone a long way in rebuilding schools and hospitals destroyed by the regime.

Of course that is the reason why people like Mugabe, his wife and all the big wigs in Zanu PF are now farmers; they get paid to get them to grown anything and then whatever they grow they get to keep the money. It is ease money! No nation in its right senses will allow this circus to continue. And trust me it will stop!

Land is an asset that should attract tax like everything else. And those who can not pay tax should not occupy the land. That will cut through all this nonsense of land audit Tsvangirai has been calling for and get some hot coals up these looters’ backside. I can tell this, there will be no “Cell Phone” multiple farm owners!

Dread, you understanding of the Zimbabwe crisis or anything else for that is really shallow. You have in front of you a mountain and all you see is a few trees and stones. It is of course not your fault that you have a pea size brain. Still you might see a bit more if you opened up your mind and stop being obsessed about whites and this stupid idea that you can be rich without having to sweat for it.
