The EU under
pressure from Belgium will lift restriction in the trade of Marange diamonds by
end of February. Belgium has a diamond industry worth US$45 billion a year and
it has been losing ground to countries like India and in
the United Arab Emirates, which do not have to comply with EU sanctions imposed
on Zimbabwe for it bad human rights record.
The rest of the
world, not wanting to be left out, will follow the EU’s decision and so all pressure
on Mugabe to reform will go and it will be business as usual.
Well the
restrictions are being lifted at the most opportune moment for Mugabe; he will
be able to sell all the stockpile diamonds he has and the money used in the
party’s campaign.
Well we have had
these last ten years to change Zimbabwe’s system of government and have very
little to show for it. Strike the metal whilst it is still hot and no messing about!

If Tsvangirai had
implemented the GPA reforms, God knows he has all the opportunity to do so
these last five years. But true to his reputation of blundering and shooting from
the hip; he has been campaigning for the sanctions to be lifted! The Belgians
had Tsvangirai and MDC on their side!
USA Ambassador to
Zimbabwe, Chris Dell wrote to his Boss back in Washington in a private cable –
private cables WikiLeaks managed to get and has been making public – that Tsvangirai
was “a flawed and indecisive character.” That was back in 2002, and the
Ambassador had probably met Tsvangirai on no more than a handful of occasions. Well this March 16 referendum is turning out
to be much more that a vote on the Copac constitutions; it will be Zimbabweans’
verdict on Tsvangirai and from it the world will judge the people themselves.
Well Zimbabweans have
certainly known Tsvangirai a lot longer that Ambassador Dell; they have seen
him make one big blunder after another. In 2008 he signed this GPA in which he and
his MDC friends were no more than the School Captain and Prefects whilst Mugabe
and his Zanu PF cronies were the Headmaster and Teachers. MDC has completely failed
to get even one reform implemented in five years. This year he rubber stamped
this Copac rubbish “dictated” by Mugabe. He is now lying insisting there will
be no violence in the elections when everyone can see that is not true.
It took 15 years for
many Zimbabweans to finally see Mugabe for what he is - a ruthless dictator and
murderer. Will Zimbabweans finally see Tsvangirai for he is – a flawed and
indecisive character with a great propensity to blunder and lie! If so, then
they will see the sheer folly of going through another meaningless election
process marred by wanton violence and vote no in the referendum. If, on the other hand, they still see
Tsvangirai as Save the great leader, and thus believe these lies, vote yes.
A no vote will
show the world that the country’s leaders may have proved ruthless tyrant
and/or blunderingly incompetent at least the people have the common sense to
see which side of the bread is buttered. A yes vote will tell the whole world
Zimbabwe is not ready for good and wholesome government; both the leaders and
the people are quite happy with the dictatorship or the dysfunction and chaotic
systems of governments they have. The world is going to accept whatever we
decide and will not waste another day messing with sanctions or helping
Zimbabwe’s economic and/or political refugees!

In case you have not noticed, Zimbabwe has been stuck in a rut for 33 years; we are still fighting for the same basic human rights and liberties so many died for in the struggle for independence. Mugabe's strategy has been to deny these rights and hope everyone will give up and talk of something else. Well it has clearly worked because most people have moved on. Whilst the danger of another election marred by wanton violence remains real I would rather bore you all to tears talking about it endlessly than let it happen!
Be rest assured, I would rather be talking about something else than the same subject over and over again. But I would rather talk about something important until it is put right until the cows come home than anything else. Zimbabweans have been stuck in this rut and pretending this is not so is not going to get us out of the rut!

Mugabe accuses Chiefs of leasing farms to disposed white farmers and threaten to take unspecified measures.
Mugabe is trying his old dirty trick again; the big issue the nation is facing is that the elections will be a repeat of the wanton violence of 2008. He has stubbornly refused, these last five years, to implement any of the GPA agreed reforms that would have ensured elections are free of the violence.
He has used the land issue to justify the wanton violence before and now with most of the white farmers gone he is creating this imaginary story of a wave of white farmers who have since returned. He will have party thugs aided by the Police, Army and CIO beating, raping and killing innocent Zimbabweans in cities, towns, mines, rural areas everywhere to flash out these imaginary white farmers.
If Mugabe has known about these white farmers and they are committing crime even by being back in Zimbabwe; why has he not arrested them? The Police is arresting everyone else, especially anyone considered a critic or a threat to him and Zanu PF..
This is a classic example of the big bad wolf accusing the lambs of mudding the water he has to drink although the later are downstream of the wolf!
For the last 33 years we have lived under constant fear of Mugabe and Zanu PF; the country is in this economic and political mess because no one dared talk about the mismanagement, corruption, looting and political repression. Enough is enough; this must stop. We must have the reforms implemented BEFORE elections are held. It was stupid of Tsvangirai and MDC to have failed to get them implemented all these last four and half years!
By voting no in the referendum we will have the reforms implemented BEFORE elections are held!

We were not look for a constitution "better" than the present one but a democratic constitution. This is like saying Chegutu is outside Harare but if you wanted to go to Bulawayo not even Gweru can be said to be Bulawayo.
This is just a cheap MDC trick answering a question no one asked?
Remember voting no does not mean we will have to go back to the old constitution. President Zuma last week made that point very clear, there is no going back to the old constitution.
President Ian Khama expressed his concern about repeating the violence of 2008.
It seems to me that everyone is calling for the implementation of the reforms BEFORE election, everyone except most Zimbabweans. We have already set our minds on elections and there is no turning back!
