Minister admits most graduates are "half-baked" - quantity without quality counts for naught!

Most of the thousands of students churned out of the country's tertiary institutions are half-baked and do not have the requisite industrial skills required of them, Higher and Tertiary Education deputy minister Godfrey Gandawa admitted in Parliament.

What a criminal waste of humanity; these "half-baked" graduates (for no fault of their own) are no good to society and to themselves. They are nothing but a burden to the nation; they either become Zanu PF thugs or join the MDC herd for being “half-baked” means they are born to follow blindly without ever asking where they are going. Because of their ignorance they will be exploited wherever they go, without doubt their life is just one long nightmare!

In the late 1980s I interviewed some “O” and “A” level graduates for semi-skilled worker positions and I was shocked. When I asked them what is a verb or Pythagoras Theorem the standard answer I got was “We did not do that in School.”  All these students had done 11 or 13 years of formal education with passes in English and Maths whose content had been watered down so much the students learnt nothing but they all had very impressive school certificates!

This week “A” level results came out and there was an impressive 95% pass rate with many schools registering 100% pass rates. I wonder how many of those 95% know what a verb is!

University graduates were no better. I met a First Class Honours UZ graduate of Politics and Administration and she thought Iran was in West Africa! This was at the height of the Iran – Iraq war! She was one of Professor Jonathan Moyo’s students; that says it all, there is no need to say more.

After independence Mugabe showed a great deal of interest in education, schools sprouted everywhere like mushrooms. This was one of the good things the tyrant has ever done for the country; sadly he did not have the requisite intellect to get it right. He was obsessed about quantity and totally indifferent to quality.

So for the last 35 years the nation has been chaining out hundreds of thousands of all these “O”, “A” level and University graduates who are literate, Zimbabwe boosts of its 91% literacy rate, in that they can read and write their own names and know all there is to know about education with reproduction. There talk of issue condoms to students to reduce the number of students falling pregnant.

Many people in Zimbabwe are malnourished and so many students go to school in an empty stomach and have nothing to eat at school. Instead of providing the students with a bun and half a pint of milk for lunch; oh no, give them one of those three-in-pack condoms. They even have a choice of the flavour they want - banana, strawberry, mango, etc. Of course it is impossible to concentrate on something as abstract as a verb much less what some Greek mathematician dreamt of in his bath when there is the very important decision of what fruit flavour condoms to ask for.

If all the students think about is food and all they do is make love is it any wonder they have very little time and energy left for their homework!

What a waste of human talent; what good are all these "half baked" graduates to society and to themselves other than to become corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF politicians and thugs?!

What is the point of having an impressive “O” level certificate, after 11 years of formal education, but not know stuff one should have learnt in primary school, after 7 years of formal education? We are not fooling anyone but ourselves, with all these hundreds of thousands of graduates, all half-baked and useless!

We need regime change so we can completely overhaul this failed Zanu PF education system designed to mass produce “half-baked”, over-sexed and utterly useless graduates only to throw them on the Mount Everest high mountain of the unemployed! We want any education system that actually teaches students useful stuff they need to improve their own lives and that of society. We must end this criminal waste of our children’s talents and the nation’s future by an education system designed to gratify a tyrant completely obsessed about quantity. After 35 years of this mind-numbing madness, the tyrant has completely failed to grasp the simple and common sense reality that quantity without quality counts for nothing!

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe is at the centre of Zimbabwe’s rampaging corruption crisis and cannot be honoured for fighting the economic scourge, opposition politician Tendai Biti has said.

He was responding to reports that a little known shadowy non-governmental organisation, “Zero Tolerance on Corruption” in Zimbabwe was set to honour Mugabe with an award for his fight against graft.

Of course Mugabe is at the very heart of the corruption that is destroying Zimbabwe today but most people would find it rich that it is Tendai Biti who is criticizing this NGO. He is a hypocrite unless he thinks he is the only one with the right to grovel and kiss Mugabe's backside. In 2012 Biti gave an interview in which he praised Mugabe to the rafters calling the tyrant "unflappable father of the nation"! If he believed all that then he should be pleased Zero Tolerance on Corruption is complimenting his observation by awarding Mugabe this award.

Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because Tendai Biti and his MDC friends wasted five years in the GNU singing Mugabe’s praises and failed to implement the all-important democratic reforms that would have stopped Mugabe rigging the 2013 elections. And now that Mugabe kicked these MDC village idiots off the gravy train they want to hoodwink the nation into believing they care about the suffering masses by changing their tune to lambasting Mugabe!

Mr Biti , when are you going to apologize to the good people of Zimbabwe for your breath-taking incom-petence in failing to implement even one reform during the GNU? If you are not going to apologize then fcuk off!

If Mutasa is challenging the legality of Zanu PF's last elective congress then per se he must be challenging the legality of the officials elected by the said congress. So why is he bothering to attend a process con-ducted by officials whose legality is itself the issue?

Mutasa should just stop messing around and submit his legal challenge of the Zanu PF congress. If the courts rule that the congress was legal and so everything that came out of it was legal then he will either resign from the Party or attend its hearing.

For all his posturing and bravado, Mutasa is an amazingly naive and indecisive simpleton!

"What the West will say or do is not my business," Mugabe told a news conference at the close of two-day African Union summit held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

"My business is to ensure the decisions we take here are implemented. My concern is on uplift-ing the life of our people, giving them something that will raise their standard of living," he said.

"For more that 10 years I have been under sanctions, my country has been sanctions. If they want to continue it's up to them but these sanctions are wrong," the president said.

"If Europe comes in the spirit to cooperate and not the spirit to control us and control our ways, they will be very welcome," he added.

Mugabe has been wittering about sanctions for the last 15 years that has not changed the facts of the ground that Zimbabwe’s economy to a fraction of what it was at independence in 1980. Ian Smith was under UN sanctions which were worldwide unlike the Western imposed by a select Western countries on a selected Zanu PF leaders.

The real cause of Zimbabwe’s economic problems is the years of mismanagement and corrup-tion. In fact by denying the problem all these years Mugabe has compounded the situation in these cancerous problems have had decades to grow and spread to the tennis ball size tumours they are today affecting every sector of the economy.

Mugabe can repeat the lie that Zimbabwe’s economy has collapse because of the sanctions meanwhile the meltdown will only get worse until the real root causes, mismanagement and cor-ruption, are dealt with. Mugabe and Zanu PF have to go, they have repeated the sanctions lie too often they believe their own lie to disown it, there is no other way

The Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDC yesterday filed a Constitutional Court application seeking to stop the holding of by-elections and any other polls before the alignment of the Electoral Act with the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

What MDC should answer is if the Electoral Act was aligned with the new constitution will that be enough to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

Many of us have said again and again in the past that the new constitution is too weak and fee-ble to deliver free and fair elections. So the nation will go through the process of forcing Zanu PF to align everything to the new constitution only to turn round and call for the implementation of the democratic reform as original agreed in the GPA.

The people of Zimbabwe have to accept that MDC are a confused lot just ignore them!

“This could be the reason why we have been able as a people to survive the long night of sanc-tions-induced socio-economic horrors that have spanned over a decade,” you say.

What planet have you been on all these years because you clearly do not know that the Zimba-bwe’s economy is in total meltdown, unemployment is a nauseating 90% plus, 16% or 2 million are living in abject poverty already, etc. Do you think that is survival?

"We should not abandon the people", Mugabe said. Professor Simbi Mubako was clearly im-pressed by Mugabe back in 1962 but this is 2015.

After 35 years of uninterrupted Mugabe rule what do we have? We have seen the criminal waste of the nation’s human and material resources through gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. The country’s economy is in total meltdown, many companies have closed, unemployment has soared to 90% plus, two million of our people are living in abject poverty, etc. and the situation is getting worse by the day.

Mugabe has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans to establish and retain this de facto Zanu PF dictatorship. The reign of terror and vote rigging has left the nation helpless to end this madness.

Mugabe “the special one”! Where did that come from and from a professor too! Zimbabwe has been cursed by having all these village idiots as intellectuals, ministers, etc. We really have our work cut off to end this national madness and pull the country out of this hell!

Mugabe the special one, my foot!

@ Rovambira

Just because MDC failed to implement the democratic reforms allowing Mugabe to rig the elec-tions does not mean the tyrant is not hated and despised by the people of Zimbabwe. He has failed to rig economic recovery and there is no getting away from that one.

The tyrant's hold on political power is slipping out of his grip and he can deny it that will change nothing! The tyrant is going, that is certain his days in power are now numbered in months not years!

You and all the other Zanu PF cronies are defending him because you have loot to protect and/or have the blood of the over 30 000 the regime has murdered on your hands. You will lose the loot and earn an honest living for the first time in your life. As for the blood on your hands, you will all account for it!

@Bw0nmik

The targeted sanctions are a punishment to Mugabe and his cronies stopping them having their monthly holidays and shopping trips to spend the wealth looted from the nation.

Mugabe’s claim that it was the sanctions that has cause the economic collapse is totally baseless, the Zimbabwe economy was already on its knees hence the need for the 1990 and 1995 five-year Economic Structural Adjustment Programmes (ESAP), for example. The sanctions were impose in 2002, well after the two ESAP had run the course and failed to produce any economic recovery.

Mugabe’s claim that the economic meltdown was caused by the sanctions is no more valid than a murdered claiming his imprisonment is causing the drought and so he should be released. Only the naïve and gullible would believe that nonsense!

THE revolutionary party, ZANU-PF, is elated that its President and First Secretary Robert Gabriel Mugabe is now Chairman of the African Union.

Without a doubt, this is Zimbabwe's moment of great honour and Africa must be proud to be led by such an icon of exceptional qualities.

Ambassador Khaya Moyo, Mugabe rigged Zimbabwe’s July 2013 national elections and rigged the party’s own elections last year too. Before that he had to resort to wanton violence to “win” the presidential run-off in 2008 against the village idiot, Morgan Tsvangirai. If that does not tell you how much the tyrant is hated by the people of Zimbabwe, then nothing will.

Zimbabweans are not “proud” of Mugabe; he has forced the nation into abject poverty, mur-dered over 30 000, etc.; what is there to be proud of a tyrant who has denied you hope and even the right to life!

“While Mr. Mugabe masquerades as a champion and vanguard of African resources, he seems to be selling the big-five to future sources of tourist for a few millions, perhaps for paying civil servants today at the expense of tomorrow.
"This is akin to Esau sacrificing his birthright for a bowl of lentil stew.
"The key question for those responsible for this act is – if you dish out your strategic as-sets, or tourism jewels to your potential /future tourists, why then would they come to your country ten to fifteen years from now?"

Whilst Mugabe and his cronies are busy sell the nation’s resources for a song and murdering over 30 000 in the bargain and yet millions of ordinary Zimbabweans have hardly noticed what has been going on. To them, it has all been water off a buck’s back. It is not as if the corruption, looting and murders have been going on for a week or a few weeks; this has been going on for 35 YEARS! 35 LONG YEARS!

How can 12 million people be so indifferent to a system that has denied them a future, hope and human dignity and life itself?! This is the greatest mystery of our time; how can a whole nation be so mentally dead they cannot even see what is happened before their own very eyes!
