Chamisa accuse Mnangawa of betrayal after 2017 coup - hypocrites betrayed the nation W Mukori

Nelson Chamisa has once again reiterated the claim that Mnangagwa betrayed the promise he made to the late MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai to form a government of national unity following the November 2017 military coup.

"It is tragic that some would choose to score very cheap political points after snatching power at Tsvangirai's funeral wake,” responded Nick Mangwana, jumping to the defence of Mnangagwa.

"There was never a discussion regarding a transitional authority and all conversations including television interviews were on getting the transition by the obtaining provisions of the Constitution.”

Poor Nick Mangwana he clearly did not think this one through! He is accusing Chamisa of snatching power from the dead Tsvangirai he must save the hottest hell for his boss, Mnangagwa who has snatched power from the living at gun point and worse still beaten, raped and even murdered the innocent to secure power.

Mnangagwa snatched power from Mugabe in a military coup and eight months latter snatched it from the people of Zimbabwe by rigging the elections. When the people dared to protest yet another rigged elections, he set the murderous thugs on the people to harass, beat and even to shoot to kill!

The November 2017 military coup was not the first coup Mnangagwa has staged, the first coup was against none other than Tsvangirai and the MDC party to stop them assuming power after Zanu PF lost the March 2008 elections. Mnangagwa and his thugs forced ZEC to reduce Tsvangirai’s 73% vote count, according to Mugabe’s own Freudian slip, to 47% to force a run-off. During the run-off Zanu PF used wanton violence to force the people to vote for Mugabe.

Indeed, Zanu PF has never held free, fair and credible elections ever since the party got into power in 1980. The party has denied the people of Zimbabwe the basic freedoms and rights including the right to meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life itself. Zanu PF has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans to create and retain the de facto one-party dictatorship and its iron grip on power.

Of all the Zanu PF leaders, Mnangagwa has certainly played a major role in all the party’s corruption, vote rigging and political violence and thuggery. His hands are blight red with the shed blood of the innocent! It is shocking that Morgan Tsvangirai, Nelson Chamisa and the MDC leaders had no qualms shaking Mnangagwa’s blooded hands as long as they got a share of the spoils of power!

Mnangagwa and his coup gangsters insisted the November 2017 military coup was NOT a coup but rather a “military assisted transition”! Morgan Tsvangirai, Nelson Chamisa, MDC MPs and other leaders were first to express their support of the coup and we know why - they had cut a deal with Mnangagwa to share the spoils of power!

There was no constitutional basis for calling off the elections in favour of a transitional government. None!

The military coup was illegal and Justice George Chiweshe’s ruling claiming the coup was “legal, justified and constitutional” was nonsense. Judge Chiweshe did not to quote the chapter and verse of the Zimbabwe constitution authorising a coup because there is no such chapter and verse!

The people of Zimbabwe risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into power on the understanding the party will bring about the democratic changes necessary to guarantee free, fair and credible elections. The party has had many golden opportunities, especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, to implement the democratic reforms to achieve this. Mugabe has bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of the gravy train lifestyles and the forgot about the reforms.

MDC leaders should have condemned the November coup and insisted on the need to implement all the democratic reforms before the holding of the 2018 elections. By participating in the flawed and illegal elections the MDC gave the process some modicum of credibility. Nelson Chamisa had hoped Mnangagwa would reward him with a gravy train position in the illegitimate Zanu PF regime.

So Nick Mnangagwa can see the speck in Chamisa’s eye for snatching power from the dead but not yet buried Tsvangirai. The hypocrite does not see the logs in his boss Mnangagwa’s eyes who has ridden roughshod of the nation’s freedoms, human rights and dreams and has murdered over 30 000 Zimbabweans to be president.

Meanwhile Nelson Chamisa was the audacity to accuse Mnangagwa of betrayal because the murderous thugs did not share the spoils of power in the November 2017 military coup and 2018 rigged elections with him! MDC betrayed the nation by failing to implement even one democratic reforms in all its 19 years on the political stage. What a hypocrite, he is fuming that Mnangagwa betrayed him by failing to form a GNU after the coup and after the rigged elections but ignores his betrayal of the nation by abandoning the demand for free, fair and credible elections.

Zimbabwe is in a serious political and economic mess because the nation has had the great misfortune to being ruled by hypocrites, on both sides of the political divide. What the people of Zimbabwe must now realise is that they cannot count on Zanu PF or MDC to get the nation out of the mess, the two parties are full of hypocrites who only care about securing power for themselves and do not care about truth, justice and the commonwealth.

The people of Zimbabwe must find some other leaders, not Zanu PF and MDC, to implement the reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections or Zimbabwe will never get out of the mess the country is stuck in.

@ Machona

Even if Tsvangirai wanted a GNU, had agreed with Zanu PF to form a GNU and had publicly announced there was going to be a GNU. It would have been all hot air because there was no constitutional justification for cancelling the elections in going straight into a GNU.

Nelson Chamisa participated in the 2018 elections knowing fully well that with no meaningful reforms in place the elections will be rigged. Still he and all the other opposition parties and candidates participated because they were after the few gravy train seats everyone knew Zanu PF was giving away as bait. Chamisa was hoping that Zanu PF will reward him for playing along by offering him some cabinet position in some coalition government. He has been holding out is recognising Mnangagwa as president in the hope of piling the pressure.

Mnangagwa and Zanu PF are illegitimate because they do not have the people's democratic mandate to govern the country because last July's elections were not free, fair and credible. The process was loaded with flaws and illegalities. ZEC failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters' roll for Pete's sake!

Chamisa's claim that he can "unlock Mnangagwa's illegitimacy" is pure fantasy born of the same sick and egotistic foolishness that made him believe MDC and Zanu PF could cancel the 2018 elections and form a GNU if they so wished!

We have no legitimate government today and the way forward is for the nation to form an interim administration which will be tasked to implement the democratic reforms designed to end the curse of rigged elections. Both Zanu PF and MDC cannot be in the interim administration because they were in the 2008 to 2013 GNU that was tasked to implement the same reforms and they failed to get even one reform implemented in five years. It is naive to think they will do so this time.

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF junta must step down and their refusal to do so must be seen for what it is - they are holding the nation hostage. It is deeply annoying that MDC are the ones aiding and abetting Zanu PF thugs in the hope the thugs will share the ransom.

@ Machona, President of TAD

“In the absence of any proof or v11 type of evidence, we could only assume, we are being taken for a ride. We challenge Chamisa to man-up and withdraw these lies, the plot and claims. Formation of a transitional government should be an outcome of an inclusive national dialogue. All political parties should contribute to the formation of a lasting Zim solution. No need to manufacture lies or manipulate the public,” you said.

As one of the 23 Presidential candidates in last year’s elections, I take is you received your copy of Chamisa’s Con-Court challenge of the presidential results. Can you confirm that Chamisa submitted ALL not just some but ALL the V11 forms to substantiate his 2.6 million vote tally!

It is a matter of historic record that ZEC failed to realise all the V11 forms just as it failed to realise a verified voters’ role. Chamisa’s claim to be the winner without producing the supporting V11 evidence is as dubious as Mnangagwa’s own claim for the same reason. ZEC has failed to produce all the V11 forms and hence the reason it had three different vote tallies for Mnangagwa.

The Chinese military has dumped Vice President Constantino Chiwenga as their preferred successor after the VP was fingered in corruption cases and alcohol and drug abuse.

An exclusive cable passed on to Bulawayo24 by an American diplomat in Harare reveals that some staffers at the American Embassy met with Chinese Embassy staffers and discussed the nature of Chiwenga.

The cable says Chiwenga is a corrupt person who is given to too much alcohol and substance abuse and practices rampant corruption.

China is said to have been routing for Chiwenga to take over from Mnangagwa in 2020 but he has not been behaving well.

Poor Chiwenga, his past is catching up with him. He should have just remained in his post as ZDF commander and not reached out for even higher branches!

The Chinese have messed around in Zimbabwe’s political affairs ever since the country gained her independence and before that. China helped Zanu PF during the fight for independence and the nation has paid off this debt a thousand time over and it is now imperative that the nation end the Chinese influence in our affairs!

@ Dailynews

“Tsvangirai remains loved and respected for his selfless and mature attitude which saw him putting the country first in 2008, when he agreed to hold talks which led to the consummation of a government of national unity (GNU) in 2009 - despite being robbed of victory by former president Robert Mugabe and Zanu-PF,” you said.

This is just a lie! Tsvangirai nor any of his fellow MDC leaders put the “country first in 2008” as history clearly shows. The GNU’s principle task was to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the gravy train trappings of power, ministerial limos, generous salaries and allowances, a $4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. and the MDC leaders, with the snouts in the feeding trough, forgot about the reforms.

With no reforms in place SADC leaders tried to warn Tsvangirai et al not to take part in the July 2013 elections but were ignored. As we know Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the 2013 and 2018 elections!

MDC leaders “were busy enjoying themselves during the GNU, they forgot why they were there!” complained one SADC diplomat soon after Zanu PF rigged the 2013 elections.

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because Tsvangirai and company sold out big time. Who is the DailyNews fooling by denying historic facts especially at the time we should be fighting to stop a repeat of the same madness.

A new GNU will give Chamisa a seat on the gravy train and will not advance our cause of free, fair and credible elections. Anyone who thinks Chamisa will get any meaningful reforms implemented has to ask themselves why he failed to get this done in the last GNU? Why did Chamisa participate in last year’s elections when he knew Zanu PF will rig the elections? The answer to both these questions is greed and, no doubt, he will be looking at owning a $4 million mansion too at the end of the new GNU!

After 39 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF misrule and with no sign of the economic meltdown ending, it is easy to see why many Zimbabweans would welcome the British stepping in and restoring some sanity the same way they did in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone was stuck and the British helped to end the cycle of violence and chaos giving that country the much needed breathing space.

Zimbabwe has sunk to the same depths of hopeless and despair as Sierra Leone.

Would I therefore in anyway encourage the invasion of Zimbabwe by SADC, the British or anyone? My answer is no. I would want Zimbabweans to focus on what they can do to end the madness gripping the nation by throat; if we can solve this crisis for ourselves we will be the better for it!

We should ask for help in a task that is too tough for us to tackle alone and not be asking for help because we are too lazy to solve the problem for ourselves. We have allowed Zanu PF to ride over us roughshod for 39 years there were many golden opportunities to end the dictatorship and we wasted them all!

We can end the dictatorship within months if we applied ourselves. Why don't we do that!

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government should also move to repeal repressive media and security legislation, said Matthew Harrington, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Africa.

"Any goodwill from the international community that might have been generated by an improved election process dissipated as a result of several problematic developments," Harrington told the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington.

He cited the use of deadly force by the army on August 1 last year in response to post-election protests in Harare which left six people dead and 35 others nursing gunshot wounds.

"In addition, in January and February (2019) the army launched a sustained crackdown on citizens in response to their protests over fuel price increases. We welcome a better relationship with Zimbabwe, but the ball is very much in the Zimbabwean government's court. If there's real, concrete progress in the areas laid out in the ZIDERA legislation Zimbabwe will find a committed partner in the United States," Harrington added.

"ZIDERA does make a difference to trade and commercial flows, not legally. International markets don't necessarily work purely on the laws in place. Perception is terribly important," Chakravarti argued.

"Some years ago, we had 40 correspondent banks which dealt with Zimbabwe. It's a fact that there are only about half a dozen banks that are willing to do business with Zimbabwe now because of the perceived risks. It has nothing to do with whether there's a specific law in place.”

He claimed he once had a US$3,000 transfer to his daughter studying in the United States blocked temporarily simply because the money had originated from Zimbabwe.

The inconvenience Chakravarti and his caught suffered is real but nothing compared to the daily hardship the 3/4 of the ordinary Zimbabweans living on US$30 or less per month are faced everyday all because the nation has been stuck with a corrupt and tyrannical regime that rigged elections to stay in power against their will.

The link between rigged elections and bad governance is undeniable!

Why is Chakravarti’s daughter studying in the US and not in Zimbabwe since he/she is approves what Zanu PF is doing in the country? Zimbabweans are sick to the back teeth of these Zanu PF apologists who are defending Zanu PF’s tyrannical rule and yet they are the ones looking outside Zimbabwe for their education and health needs because the accept in Zimbabwe these services have all but collapse. The ordinary people have to make do with these collapsed services because they have no money to send their children to America, etc.

And the hypocrites like Chakravarti have the chutzpah to compare their inconveniences to the ordinary people’s heart breaking suffering and deaths. Make no mistake about it, the sanctions must stay until Zimbabweans have free, fair and credible elections! Indeed, sanctions must be extended to include the hypocrites like Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and Chakravarti.

Zimbabwe is creating a straw-man by blaming sanctions for the lack of investment and a failing economy, a top official with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) says.

Jason Taylor, the director of USAID's Humanitarian Assistance and Resilience office in Zimbabwe, said the southern African country had simply failed to convince investors that their investments would be safe.

This is a truth investors have known all along but which Zanu PF has tried to deny but to no avail. After decades of no meaningful investment the country’s economy is now on its knees the regime is now being forced to deal with the corruption, the vote rigging and all the other causes of the economic meltdown.
