Chamisa on globe-trotting to be declared winner of 2018 - if one leader does, will eat my hat N Garikai

“Hupenzi inyama yegakava!” (There is no one more stubborn than a village idiot!) so goes the Shona maxim. The MDC leaders are village idiots and they are very stubborn too.

“On the 31st of July 2018, Zimbabweans overwhelmingly voted for President Nelson Chamisa. That election was stolen in broad daylight and since then, the crisis of legitimacy has manifested itself through multi-layered challenges that have manifested themselves through power outages, water and fuel shortages, indecent wages, high prices and the erosion of the people's dignity, among other challenges,” said the MDC statement at the start of the ongoing public demonstration to force Mnangagwa to step down in favour of Nelson Chamisa.

We now hear that Chamisa is setting off seek international community support that he should be declared the winner of last’s elections.

“The [MDC] president is open and has plans to travel to major international centers, including Moscow and Beijing, some capitals in Europe and the West just to highlight the extent of the problem in terms of how the problem is man-made and how the problem is costing millions of lives and has threatened food security for millions of people,” said Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, Chamisa’s spokesperson.

Many people have explained to MDC leaders that the party’s half-way house position regarding last year’s elections is a lead balloon that will never fly. The one camp comprising the EU, Americans, Commonwealth and many others have totally rejected the election process and results as a farced. “The electoral commission lacked full independence and appeared to not always act in an impartial manner,” stated the EU Election Mission final report.

“The final results as announced by the Electoral Commission contained numerous errors and lacked adequate traceability, transparency and verifiability. Finally, the restrictions on political freedoms, the excessive use of force by security forces and abuses of human rights in the post-election period undermined the corresponding positive aspects during the pre-election campaign. As such, many aspects of the 2018 elections in Zimbabwe failed to meet international standards.”

So, anyone in Europe, America, etc. would once again ask MDC to produce the verified voters roll, all the V11 forms (summary of the vote count at each polling station), etc. ZEC and MDC failed to produce any of these key documents last year and hence the talk of failing to verify and trace results in the EU report quoted above.

The Chinese, Russians, SADC, AU and many others have accepted the election process as free, fair and credible. Whilst they accept the possibility of the individual presidential result being wrong, they accept that the Constitutional Court was competent to decide on than dispute. They reject Chamisa’s questioning of the Constitutional Court’s integrity when he failed to do the same with ZEC, the Court’s sister judiciary body.

So, either camp in the rigged election debate will find Chamisa guilty of cherry picking and therefore would never want to support him. No one is going to stop Chamisa visiting China, Russian, Europe he has visited a number of African countries already but he can be certain that no nation or organisation worth the spit will even endorse his claim as the winner of last year’s elections.

Indeed, as far as many countries in the West are concerned Chamisa and his MDC friends lost political credibility by participating in such blatantly fraudulent elections. For MDC to still claim to have won the elections after the party had seen the damning reports of the elections from the EU, Americans, Commonwealth and many others goes to show just how naïve and foolish the MDC leaders are!

Chamisa is off on a globe-trotting tour to drum up support to be declared winner of the 2018 presidential race. I will eat my hat if any national leader of note ever support such nonsense!

“We were within our rights to make our chamber application. We appeared this morning before Musakwa. We argued comprehensively that the issuance of the police prohibiting order was unlawful. The order must be made within seven days from the day a notification is made. Notification was given on the 5th of August so the seven days lapsed on the 12th,” said Biti.

Biti added: “We differ with the ruling of the High Court. The High Court is the home of original and superior jurisdiction…but we differ respectfully with its ruling. We will not appeal at the magistrates’ court because we do not accept the correctness of the ruling with great respect
We would not be running around fighting these endless skirmishes with Zanu PF if MDC had implemented the democratic reforms when the party had the golden opportunity to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. MDC failed to get even one reform implemented. NOT ONE!

Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections the regime is illegitimate and must step down. MDC should have rejected last year’s elections as a farce in line with EU, Americans and everyone else with any democratic credentials; this would have put Zanu PF under immediate pressure to step down. MDC chose to let Zanu PF off the hook for the purposes of negotiating with the regime some power sharing arrangement in return for granting the regime full legitimacy!

The demos MDC has called are to push for the power sharing and not for Zanu PF to step down which is what the nation really want! MDC leaders are selling out, taking full advantage of most people who have no clue what is going on.

Everyone with any democratic credentials worth a spit said last year's elections were a farce but none of them will ever support MDC's stance of accepting the parliamentary elections results and rejecting the presidential results unless he Chamisa is declared the winner. All these people condemn the elections because the process was flawed and illegal and will never cherry pick some results and reject others.

How MDC have maintained this foolish position of cherry picking and, worse still, expect others to support them goes to show just how shallow minded and naive MDC leaders are.

Many world leaders would not want to be seen with Chamisa, for fear of people thinking they are supportive of the MDC's foolishness and tarnish their image.

Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Nelson Chamisa intends to pay visits to Moscow and Beijing to seek help in settling the political and economic crisis gripping Zimbabwe, Russia's Sputnik news agency reported on Monday.

The situation in Zimbabwe remains tense since July 2018 when Chamisa refused to concede defeat to Emmerson Mnangagwa in a closely-fought presidential race, claiming that the result was rigged.

Zimbabwe's economy has tanked, and economists say the country is not entering hyper-inflation after inflation peaked at 176 percent in July - the highest in over a decade. Western powers, on whom Mnangagwa had banked for debt forgiveness and fresh investment, have held back after the Zimbabwe government cracked down on protesters in August last year and January this year. Rights groups say two dozen activists were killed in the anti-government protests.

Zimbabwe’s leaders have a great affinity for globe-trotting, Mugabe had the travel bug, so did Tsvangirai and now it is Mnangagwa and Chamisa’s turn to travel. What Chamisa hopes to achieve by travelling to Moscow and China beggars belief since these two nation helped Mnangagwa rig the elections.

As for visiting the West, they are not going to accept Chamisa’s nonsense that the elections should be declared free, fair and credible if Chamisa is declared the winner of the presidential race! They condemned the election because the process was flawed and illegal regardless of the result.

This is just a waste of time and money! China and Russian helped Mnangagwa rig the elections and will not want to support MDC. The Chinese are not happy with Mnangagwa but they have their own Zanu PF man lined up to takeover.

During the elections last year, Chamisa said US President Trump promised him US$15 billion if he won the elections. "The Americans are in it (elections)!" The US government issued a statement dismissing the claim as a lie!

At the start of the Free Zimbabwe March demos, Chamisa prayed and fasted and told us "God is in it (demos)!" Why would God support these demos which everyone with any brain knows are to help Chamisa and friends to get back on the gravy train so they can "sir, eat and do nothing!"

We can be certain that on his return from the far East, Chamisa will be telling us "Chinese and Russians are in it (power sharing arrangement between Zanu PF and MDC)!" They will not object, after all this is one sure way the Zanu PF dictatorship survival can be guaranteed. But then so too will our continued suffering!

The people of Zimbabwe must wake-up to the reality that Chamisa and his MDC friends have been giving away opportunities to deliver meaningful democratic changes to Zanu PF in return for seats on the gravy train. MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent, they will never ever deliver meaningful democratic changes. Never ever!

What are people marching for?

In November 2017 the people of Zimbabwe marched for an end to the Zanu PF dictatorship, or so they thought. Mnangagwa and his coup plotters friends had other ideas; they were asking the people to endorse "Operation Restore Legacy!" The coup was about wrestling power from Mugabe to give it back to the Joint Operation Command thugs who were the real power behind the Zanu PF dictatorship. In other words, the coup changed nothing!

Chamisa is using these demos to push Mnangagwa into a power sharing arrangement in which he and a few other MDC leaders will be appointed ministers. The last power sharing arrangement, GNU, failed to implement even one democratic reform; this new GNU will not do any better. People are joining these demos thinking they are marching for democratic change in Zimbabwe not knowing MDC leaders have their own selfish agenda at odds with the common agenda.

If Zimbabwe is ever getting out of the mess it is in, then the people have to wise up and stop being so naive and gullible!

The Heads of the Mission of the delegation of the European Union, France, Germany, Greece, The Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, the Heads of Mission of Australia, Canada and the United States of America have issued a joint statement condemning the abuse of Human Rights of citizen in Zimbabwe by the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The countries said they are concerned by the crackdown on opposition members and trade unions that was witnessed prior to the banned August 16 MDC demonstrations.

When the country is facing the serious economic situation of 90% unemployment rate, hyperinflation, shortages of food, fuel, medicine, etc. Allowing people to exercise the democratic right to protest is certainly a luxury this Zanu PF regime cannot afford. There is so much bottled up there will be millions who would join the protest and they will be well motivated to join the protest day after day after day.

Since the regime has nothing to offer the people to convince them it is doing something to end their hardships we can be 100% certain the protesters would be coming out to protest again and again until there is challenge. bound to be a lot of bottled anger out there.

Zanu PF has worked itself into a corner, the party knows it cannot allow the protests because the only outcome will the regime being booted out of office. It also knows that the situation is so bad no amount of repression is going to stop these people risking it all and protest because people are not going to suffer and die quietly like sheep in the slaughter-house.
The regime would be out of office by now was it not for the corrupt and incompetent opposition. Many people are not joining the protests because they do not see MDC’s power sharing proposal as a viable way forward.

Government of Zimbabwe expects those countries committed to supporting the freedom of expression, association and assembly politically stable, economic stable and prosperous Zimbabwe to exercise impartiality and not to unduly interfere in the internal affairs of Zimbabwe in a way that promotes unrest and public disorder unless they harbor an ulterior motive. seen as facets for a politically stable and prosperous Zimbabwe- to exercise impartiality and not to duly interfere in the internal affairs of Zimbabwe in a way that promotes unrest and public disorder unless they harbour an ulterior motive.

Zimbabwe remains committed to carrying out reforms necessary for addressing the political, social and economic challenges in the country. In this vein, Government is open to engaging its partners in the international community on best ways of implementing the reforms.

Regarding national dialogue, the door remains open to all political players to converge in the national interest and this process is currently underway under the aegis of the Political Players Dialogue (POLAD).

With the economic situation getting worse and worse Zanu PF knows that it cannot afford to allow any protests of any form even if it had cast iron guarantees there will be no violence. There is so much bottled up anger millions will be out to support the protest and they will be motivated to come out again and again until there is meaningful economic recovery or regime change. We know Zanu PF cannot deliver the former and therefore be forced to swallow the bitter pill of regime change.

There was no evidence of even one protester throwing a stone at the Police. All the brutal violence came from the Police.

As the economic situation is set to get worse there will be more and more call for peaceful protests. How long does the regime think it can continue to deny the people the right to be heard under the pretext the protests will be violent?

Zanu PF promised to hold free, fair and credible elections and know what happened. It is naïve to believe the regime will ever implement any meaningful reforms. POLAD is just a gathering of Zanu PF and the country’s corrupt and incompetent opposition party poodles. The only reason Chamisa has not joined the others is because he is demanding more gravy train seats for himself and fellow MDC leaders. Neither POLAD nor Chamisa’s National Transition Authority will ever implement any meaningful reforms. This is a waste of time!
