"Zimbabwe (Zanu PF) and China enjoy excellent relations" - of course, China guarantees no regime change P Guramatunhu

Zanu PF and its apologists are renowned for their single mindedness belief in offence as not only the best but only defence. It is therefore a novelty to see them scrambling to mount a rear-guard defensive action!

“Zimbabwe does not hold China responsible for the emergence and spread of Covid-19 and the two countries continue to enjoy excellent relations, Government has said,” reported the Zanu PF controlled Sunday Mail.

“This follows the circulation of a purported telephone conversation between the Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and political activist-cum-journalist Simba Chikanza where he infers that Government blames China for the pandemic.”

Of course, “Zimbabwe does not hold China responsible for the emergence and spread of covid-19!” It was a Freudian slip of the tongue on the part of Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri!

In other words Zimbabwe holds China responsible; everyone knows China, being a secretive nation, tried to keep the outbreak a secret and thus giving the virus a head start. And like everyone else, Zimbabwe has been making a concerted and conscientious effort never to publicly accuse China of anything!

Indeed, when the number of corona virus cases and deaths started to soar in Europe and the Americas in March and April 2020; USA President Donald Trump blamed China. He insisted in calling it “The China virus!” It was none other than Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri who said the virus was God’s punishment of the West for imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe.

Officially, Zimbabwe has one of the lowest per capita corona virus cases and deaths in the world but only because the Zanu PF government, like the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is super sensitive about criticism and so has been under reporting the figures.

However, the corona virus cases and deaths have soar in the last month Zimbabwe’s wilfully inadequate health care service was quickly overwhelmed. In her interview with Simba Chikanza, Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri described how she had been running around like a headless chicken trying to get medical help for a relative with covid-19.

“Zimbabweans are dying. This is serious. Covid 19 is serious,” a tearful Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri told Chikanza.

“The Chinese, the disease is now on a fresh peak now. Cases are rising again. They are the ones who started their experiments and things got out of hand and now their experiments are costing us. They cannot control this now. They have costed us…. those whom we call our all weather friends, look at what they have done to us.”

At moments such as this it is near impossible to keep up the phoney lies bottled in.

The gene is out of the bottle; Zimbabwe, just like many other nations out there, blames China for the corona virus. The CCP’s lack of democratic accountability and its obsession with secrecy to hide its blundering failures is costing us all the earth!

The Zanu PF regime and its apologists’ rear-guard action claiming Zimbabwe is not blaming China for the corona virus is futile. The gene is out of the bottle and cannot be put back.

"We wish to make it clear that the sentiments expressed do not reflect the position of the Government of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe and China enjoy excellent relations,” continued the statement from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Rubbish! Zimbabwe’s so called “excellent” relationship is one of the tick to the cow; the tick gets all the blood it wants and get so bloated it cannot even move, the cow gets absolutely no benefit from the relation. Indeed, the Zimbabwe cow has been sucked dry it is weak and sickly.

“An army-linked miner, Anjin Investments (Pvt) Ltd, grabbed the most lucrative diamond claim in Marange from a firm owned by the government after being relicensed under unclear circumstances, it has emerged,” reported The Independent/Bulawayo 24 last week.

“Investigations carried out with support from Information for Development Trust, a non-profit organisation helping journalists to expose corruption and bad governance, established that Anjin has effectively taken over Portal B, a diamond-rich zone in Marange that was being mined by the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC), a government outfit set up in 2016.”

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and political paralysis is corruption and the wholesale looting in Marange has become the epicentre of it all.

In 2016 Robert Mugabe revealed that the country was being swindled out of a staggering US$ 15 billion in diamond revenue. The one nation that has been behind the looting in Marange is China, Anjin is a Chinese company.

Mugabe fell-out with the Chines big-time accusing them not fulfilling their promise to fund Zimbabwe’s mega-deals. The Chinese, in turn, accused Mugabe of not paying his debts. Mugabe booted out Anjin out of Marange.

It is widely believed the Chinese played a major role in Zimbabwe’s November 2017 military coup which booted Mugabe out of office. Mnangagwa was the chief beneficiary of the coup and he not only arranged for Anjin’s return but, as we can now see, claim the most lucrative diamond claim!

It has been said Zimbabwe is stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship because China will never allow free, fair and credible elections and regime change. Never!

The destiny of Zimbabwe is not and has never been in the hands ordinary Zimbabweans but in the Chinese!

Oh please, we are not all stupid and blind not to know the difference between “Zimbabwe and China enjoy excellent relations!” and “Zanu PF and China enjoy excellent relations!”

The revolutionary party, ZANU-PF, has observed and noted with keen interest the acquiescing reaction of the usual rabid commentators on the recent mayhem and chaos which engulfed the heart and soul of American democracy, the Capitol Hill. As is now in the public domain, hooligans nearly achieved the intended insurrection by attempting to disrupt a constitutional process meant to pave way for the smooth transition to the inauguration of the 46″ American President-elect Joe Bitten. Despite the occurrence of these ugly scenes, the Revolutionary Party takes this opportunity to wish President-elect Joe Bitten a fruitful term of office as we both attempt to pursue matters of mutual interest for our people.

The revolutionary party, ZANU-PF, is however taken aback by the stony silence of the so-called impartial local and international commentators who usually masquerade as governance experts in such matters. One would have thought their usually excitable ire would have been cajoled into solos by condemning these grotesque acts of hooliganism and vandalism. Had it not been for the value of the US security forces, the consequences could have been ghastly to contemplate.

One shudders to think what could have happened in the Third World if any contestant to a political office had failed to concede defeat as happened in the USA in the numerous elections which have been held to date. Further, one would have expected the normally outspoken US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Brian Nichols, to lambast these anomalous events in his native country. Ambassador Nichols's now open hypocrisy, where he negatively postures actions by other sovereign state security forces as wayward in their attempt to bring normalcy and order into their jurisdiction, deserves repudiation and scorn. We all expect him to, at least, comment on the actions of these hooligans and vandals, and the subsequent interventions by that country's security forces. unsavory actions in the US. It should serve as a lesson to the likes of Ambassador Nichols that the often lauded so-called lofty democratic credentials of his country are just but a mere illusion that has been exposed to its fallacious nature and grave shortcomings. Suffice A say, all democratic models being pursued by different counties need continuous and consistent refinement.

Zanu PF has managed to stay in power for over 40 years now precisely because the party succeeded in usurping the people’s democratic right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. For the party to be denouncing the very acts that it has been doing itself is sheer hypocrisy!

The whole American body politics has condemned what happened on 6 January and Zanu PF is criticising Ambassador Nichols just to have something anti-American to say.

@ MR LLOYD DAMBA
WRITER AND RESEARCHER

“The electorate was present on the 6th of August as they ululated and danced as all Party Principals appended their signatures to the Agreement. The very same electorate that Alex Magaisa seeks to mislead, also voted for the Recall Clause during the 2013 Constitutional Referendum. Maybe Magaisa has forgotten that he was also part of Douglas Mwonzora's Copac team which included the Recall Clause.

May I remind the nation here that when in 2018 Nelson Chamisa recalled Thokozani Khupe, Luwas Sibanda, Nomvula Mguni and many who had refused to recognize his unconstitutional leadership and usurping the throne, Magaisa was there and he chose to see no evil and write no evil. When Tendai Biti and his Renewal outfit rebelled against Morgan Tsvangirai in 2014 all 19 Renewal renegades were recalled and Magaisa said nothing.

It is very funny that Alex Magaisa is a lawyer and he teaches law but he calls the Supreme Court Judgement controversial as if the judges rewrote the MDC Constitution, when the only thing the judges did was to make Thabani Mpofu read Article 9 of the MDC Constitution and told him and every MDC principal to go and do as Thabani read.

The Big Saturday Read is BIG in saying a lot of nothing and has become a propaganda piece to cover up all the wrongs that happened in the MDC ever since the death of Morgan Tsvangirai.

The sheer incompetence of the MDC leaders particularly during the GNU speaks volumes of just how utterly useless MDC were and still are to this day.

These covid-19 official figures do not make any sense at all!

Of the 3 829 PCR tests carried out 3 478 of them were in Harare with 339 new cases and the other remaining 9 provinces had to share the remaining 351 tests for which 350 were positive. This can only mean there is a concerted effort to do some testing and tracing in Harare but not elsewhere.

There have been reports of most workers in Zanu PF HQ, Munhumutapa Building (housing the President’s Office) and other government buildings being tested. And yet when Dadaya High School had corona virus outbreak only 47 individuals were tested in the first day at least out of over 1 000 students and teachers.

Many frontline workers like health care workers are supposed to the tested at least once very two weeks but many of then, especially in outlying areas, have never been tested ever since the corona virus outbreak a year ago. It is obvious see why this is so! The 8 province other than Harare and Bulawayo had only enough to do 57 tests and it is quite normal for them to have zero tests

So Zimbabwe is not only failing to carry out enough tests to track the virus but it is also clear that the few test kits are not being distributed evenly across the country. It is an outrage that a Zanu PF HQ worker should be tested first just because the ruling elite fear catching a virus which they are under reporting before a health care worker who works with corona virus patients all the time.

The people of Zimbabwe have to wake up to the reality that there will never be any meaningful political change in Zimbabwe as long as nothing is done to end the wholesale looting going on in the country, notably in Marange and Chiadzwa. These benefiting from the looting know that regime change will spell the end of their looting and so they will pour billions of dollar, to them it will only constitute a fraction of their month's loot and worth every dollar, of some of the looted wealth to prop up Zanu PF.

China is one of the foreign nations that has benefited the most from the wholesale looting in Zimbabwe and they are not going to lose Zimbabwe. Mugabe thought he was smart and would get rid of them only to find himself the one booted out! Right now the Chinese are playing off Mnangagwa against Chiwenga; it is the Chinese who are pulling the strings and the two tyrants are but puppets performing a crazy Chinese jit-jive!

China is not more a friend of the Zanu PF thugs than a tick is a friend of a cow the only subtle difference here is that the thugs thought the Chinese will be content exploiting povo and share the spoils with them. The Chinese have been sucking the blood out of povo but have not spared the ruling elite either as the tide of poverty has affected everyone in Zimbabwe. The Zanu PF thugs are now hostages to the Chineses just as us all!

Mukundu says "it wasn't ethical journalism". It was an intrusion in personal grief!

What is shocking here is how some people always jump through all manner of hops to defend the slightest wrong done to those in positions of power and authority. And yet the same idiots are as quiet as a mouse in a room full of cats when those in power ride roughshod over the ordinary people, denying them their freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life!

In her moment of grief over the death of her fellow Zanu PF bigwig Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri revealed two basic truths which the regime has been at great pain to hide from the people Zimbabwe - one that corona virus is more widespread than the official data on the virus would suggest; two, that the country's health care service in being overwhelmed.

Chiwenga had just been in the news just a few days before the Oppah interview denying the country's health care services was being overwhelmed. He dismissed the claims as "embellished social media allegations by some pen-mercenaries"!

Zanu PF has deliberately down played the seriousness of the corona virus in Zimbabwe for the purpose of looking good. The party has been boasted of how it has contained the pandemic whilst pointing at SA's soaring figures. The truth is by failing to test, trace, track and isolate Zanu PF has helped the virus spread far and wide. Many Zimbabweans will get virus because we failed to isolate these with the virus and many of them will die as a consequence.

All these Zanu PF ruling elite and their calvary of sanctimonious apologists are not up in arms that Oppah was in grief but at what she reveal - the tragic truth of the seriousness of corona virus in the country - because she was off her guard.

We are dealing with a very secretive regime here and the fact that it took speaking to Oppah when she had taken off her Zanu PF iron mask of indifference to the plight of the ordinary people to learn the truth does not devalue the value of what she said. To be wittering on and on about the ethics of interviewing someone in grief and ignoring the immediate problem of the corona virus spreading like wild fire goes to so how stupid some people are.

No wonder the country is in a mess, Zimbabwe has more than her fair share of penny wise and pound foolish people!

@ Dumi

Do you think Oppah or any one of her fellow Zanu PF thugs would have ever admitted that the nation was being overwhelmed by the corona virus when they are wearing their Zanu PF iron-mask of cold indifference to the plight of the common people? Simba was very lucky to catch Oppah with her iron-mask off.

You should be concerned about the seriousness of the corona virus in the country and not about Oppah's blushing she had her mask off!

Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and the opportunity was wasted as MDC failed to get even one reform implemented in five years. All this nightmare of Zanu PF oppression and corruption would all be behind us if the reforms had been implemented.

Tendai Biti was one of the MDC senior leaders throughout the GNU and as the party's chief negotiator in the Global Political Agreement that gave birth to the GNU he, of all people, must have understood the primary task of the GNU was to implement the reforms and stop the repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence that had marred the 2008 elections. It is all very well for him to be calling on the Zanu PF regime to end the misrule but does he ever regret selling out the nation by failing to implement the reforms!!! He should regret it and apologise to the nation. Indeed, he must apologise!
