CCC failed to implement reforms but participated in flawed election. Now they're stampeding into next blunder! W Mukori

Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has initiated a 30-day campaign calling for fresh elections following last week’s controversial poll results,” reported Pindula.

“The party argues that the elections were severely flawed, making the outcome illegitimate. They propose holding new elections under the supervision of an “impartial” electoral body, different from the “biased” Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), or preferably under the supervision of SADC, African Union (AU), and or the United Nations (UN).”

This is nonsense! MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one token reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections these last 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. It is none other than Chamisa himself who has insisted in participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. Chamisa has lied about having winning in rigged elections strategies to hide the greed.

Now that SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) has condemned the 2023 elections were flawed the man who until 23 August 2023 claimed that he had plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes suddenly believes the elections are flawed.

CCC are calling for this 30-day campaign to call for fresh elections to stampede the nation into fresh elections without implementing the reforms. No wonder the party has failed to implement any reforms because Chamisa and company have no clue what the reforms are much less how they are implemented.

What Zimbabwe need right now is for the SADC Panel of Elders to up hold the SEOM’s report and deny Zanu PF political legitimacy. SADC, with the help of EU and UN, must help in the formation of a new GNU whose primary task, like the 2008 to 2013 GNU, will be to implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

Both Zanu PF and CCC leaders must have no role in the new GNU. They were all in the 2008 to 2013 GNU that failed to implement even one token reform, it is naive, to say the least, to expect them to do any better second time round.

The people of Zimbabwe, SADC, etc. must ignore CCC’s attention seeking public protests. The party has insisted on participating in flawed elections out of greed all these years and now has the chutzpah to stage street protests against flawed elections!

If SADC Panel of Elders refuse to be corrupted by the regime and uphold the Dr Nevers Mumba SADC Election Observer Mission report then Zanu PF will have no political legitimacy. Zimbabwe will be back in the sin-bin needing a new GNU!

As much as ANC would want to ensure there is no regime change in Zimbabwe the party has to face the reality that the 2023 elections were flawed and illegal as Dr Mumba's report rightly stated. Many South Africans are waking up to the reality that ANC is backing the wrong horse in backing Zanu PF. If President Ramaphosa thinks he can get away with imposing Zanu PF in Zimbabwe he has something else coming!

ANC has the right to freely chose who in Zimbabwe they would like to work with But do they have the right to impose Zanu PF on the people of Zimbabwe? The answer is NO! A very big NO!

The people of Zimbabwe have the right to elect who will govern that country in a free, fair and credible elections. Was the 2023 Zimbabwe elections free, fair and credible? The answer is a big NO!
So why is ANC backing a flawed and illegal process just to stop regime change in Zimbabwe?

ANC is worried that the mystic of the former liberation party as the only one competent and divinely appointed to rule the country is wearing off. Zanu PF has reduced Zimbabwe into a text book case failed state. After 30 years of ANC rule, SA is fast becoming the next failed state in Africa.

Instead of ANC accepting the reality that the party has run out of excuses for its pathetic failures and has nothing to offer South Africans next year. The party is hanging on the idiotic liberation party mystic to stay in power even to the point of imposing a corrupt and tyrannical regime in Zimbabwe! How pathetic!

ANC has the right to pick Zanu PF as its ally in Zimbabwe but what the party cannot do is impose Zanu PF on the people of Zimbabwe.

ANC is behind the SADC Panel of Elders who are in Zimbabwe as we speak trying to water down SADC Election Observer Mission's report that condemned the 23 August 2023 elections as flawed and illegal and, per se, cannot produce a legitimate government.

@ J Moyo

“In conclusion, the Mission observed that the pre-election and voting phases, on 23-24 August 2023 Harmonised Elections were peaceful, and calm. However, for reasons outlined above, the Mission noted that some aspects of the Harmonised Elections, fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021)”.

This conclusion has led to two harmful wrongs that are damaging to Zimbabwe’s sovereignty:

The first harmful wrong is an outright lie being peddled that SEOM’s preliminary statement concluded that last week’s “election did not reflect the will of the people of Zimbabwe”.

Flawed as it is, the conclusion of SEOM’s preliminary statement, which is quoted in full above, did not in any way, shape or form say that election was not a reflection of the will of the people of Zimbabwe.

The truth is that, while the preliminary statement is flawed, it nevertheless did not conclude that the election was not a reflection of the will of the people of Zimbabwe.”

Professor J Moyo is known for many things and one of them is being obnoxious pedantic. If the mission found, and they were not alone in this, “some aspects of the Harmonised Elections, fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021)”. How can such a process still deliver a legitimate and democratic result?

"You might have problems with ZANU PF but what you must know is that, in Zimbabwe what is progressive and our ally is ZANU PF and reactionaries do not want that."

"Nelson Chamisa and his allies are not our allies. They do not speak our language. They are not with us in the New World Order agenda, of the alternative , multipolar that we want to build. They are not with us. They are with the neoliberals and liberal agenda in the world"

"As the ANC, we don't subscribe to that. We are anti-imperialism."

"So any political party that perpetuates entrenchment of neocolonialism is not our ally"

- Fikile Mbalula
ANC Secretary General

ANC is free to chose who they will work with but what the party is not entitled to is to impose on the people of Zimbabwe who will govern that country. ANC’s claim that they will not allow regime change in Zimbabwe is an outrage!

Zimbabwe is a failed state after 43 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption under this Zanu PF dictatorship. Of course, the people of Zimbabwe have a right to free, fair and credible elections and to regime change if they should so decide.

We know SA is fast becoming yet another failed African country after 30 years of ANC misrule. ANC is worried that South Africans may want to follow Zimbabwe’s example and have regime change in next year’s SA elections.

ANC is hell bent on keeping the mystic of the liberation parties ruling and so is hell bent on keeping Zanu PF in power in Zimbabwe against the nation’s democratic wish! That must and will be resisted!

“CCC are a Zanu PF project!”

MDC/CCC has failed to implement any reforms in 23 years and has been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. This is a well established fact which the opposition themselves will not deny.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Light said...

If the SEOM report had been the usual see no evil, see no evil and say no evil and granted Zanu PF political legitimacy then there would be no SADC Panel of Elders in Zimbabwe right now. They know that they are in Harare to water down the report.

These Elders must know too that they would be selling out the long suffering people of Zimbabwe who are hoping to have these flawed elections are declared null and void so that the nation can have another chance to implement the democratic reforms.

Zimbabwe is a failed state precisely because the nation has been stuck for 43 years with a corrupt and tyrannical regime that has rigged elections to stay in power! The SEOM's report is set to put an end to this IF the Elders do the honourable thing and refuse to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy!

Zimbabwe Light said...

Nonsense this has nothing to do with all this "neoliberal" bull! This is about whether or not ordinary Zimbabweans have a right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country especially now after 43 years of rigged elections!

No one should be frogmarched to attend a rally and to vote for a particular party. Zimbabwe is a failed state and the cure is implementing the reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections.

To justify denying povo their basic human rights and freedoms under the pretext of fighting off the West whilst inviting the East through the back door is one of the most foolish things African nationalists have come up with. No wonder the West exploited and oppressed us and now the East are doing the same!

@ Chin’ono

“ZANUPF fails to deliver economically not because of election fraud, but because of corrupt rule, the looting of public funds, plundering of the country’s natural resources and the grand incompetence.

There is no craft competence in the regime, it is run by thoroughly incompetent and clueless people with no skills to make it succeed.

Hospitals don’t have medicines not because of rigged elections, but because the public taxes meant to buy the medicines are stolen and used to buy mansions, sports cars and fly their girlfriends to Cape Town and Dubai.

There are dictatorships around the world that run their countries well.
China is the second biggest economy in the world, yet it doesn’t have national elections.”

Zimbabwe, unlike China, does hold regular elections and so one has to ask why Zimbabweans have failed to remove this corrupt and incompetent Zanu PF regime?

The answer to that comes in three parts:

Zanu PF has never ever held free, fair and credible elections these last 43 years and so the nation has been stuck with the regime.

It is an undeniable fact that the nation has had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship notably during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and MDC have wasted them all. Worse still, MDC/CCC has been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. When you get a get-out-of-jail card people want to know why you failed to use it and not in the details of how thick the walls and floors are, the razor fence, etc.

It took Zimbabweans nearly 20 years for them to accept that Zanu PF leaders are not the infallible national heroes they wanted them to be but corrupt and murderous thugs. The last 23 years the people have been calling for democratic change. They have risked Zanu PF’s wrath to elected MDC/CCC to implement the changes only to be betrayed. MDC/CCC leaders have got away with it because the people have no clue what these changes are much less how they are to be implemented.

Zimbabwe Light said...

How naive! So Chamisa was lying about delivering change all CCC was doing was participating to expose shameless Zanu PF. Expose Zanu PF to what end and purpose? How long are we going to keep participating in these flawed elections "to expose shameless Zanu PF and ZEC" to give the regime legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship?

Minister for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell, said:

The United Kingdom commends the people of Zimbabwe for demonstrating patience and resilience in exercising their democratic rights, and especially for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere on election day and beyond.

We share the view of the Election Observation Missions’ preliminary statements that the pre-election environment and election day fell short of regional and international standards. Issues included limited transparency from the electoral commission, the lack of level playing field, the passing of repressive legislation, long delays in the opening of some polling stations, and reports of intimidation of voters. The UK takes note of the announcement by the Chair of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of results on 26 August. However, we are concerned by a lack of transparency in the tallying of results, as well as the arrests of domestic observers.

We urge all parties and citizens to continue to follow constitutional processes in the coming weeks, allow space for inclusive dialogue, and act with restraint.”

SADC Election Observer Mission condemned these elections as flawed and illegal and, per se, cannot produce a legitimate government and it is heartening that many in the international community have taken note of this basic political reality. Even rogue regimes like ANC, who have their own selfish axe to grind, have had to shamefully withdraw their rushed congratulations!

Zimbabwe Light said...

After all the huffing and puffing even Professor J Moyo could not deny the 23 August 2023 were flawed and illegal. This is a fact SADC has known all along and hence the reason the regional body wanted the 2013 elections postponed. When both Zanu PF and MDC ignored SADC leaders' advice the regional body resigned to granting vote rigging political legitimacy.

This time SADC observers decided to do the right thing and point out the flaws and illegalities. Zanu PF is pinning all its hopes on the SADC Panel of Elders watering down the SEOM's report! Of course, these Elders know they are being asked to falsely condom these elections and betray the long suffering people of Zimbabwe! Professor Moyo’s winded wittering is expected to convince them the elections were free, fair and credible!

“They were denied their right to vote that is a form if rigging
Ballots were delivered after10 to 12hrs
Meanwhile rural community were busy voting under faz stewardship.”

These elections were flawed and illegal just because Zanu PF was allowed by SADC to get away with it in the past does not mean it was right! You cannot have free, fair and credible elections without something as basic as a verified voters' roll.

Why the opposition has participated in these flawed elections is to do with greed nothing else! Yes Zanu PF has taken full advantage of the greed and, indeed, has encouraged it by throwing more benefits for those who win the few gravy train seats on offer as bait. Mnangagwa has even created POLAD for the losers of the presidential rat race.

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference (ZCBC) has added to the chorus of condemnation on Zimbabwe’s just-ended election which saw incumbent president Emmerson Mnangagwa declared winner with a 52,6 percent vote.

In a pastoral statement Thursday, ZCBC-CCJPZ chairman, Right Rev. Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro also called for an audit of the August 23 election saying this is one of the ways that could restore public confidence in the country’s poll process.

The Roman Catholic clergy cited the myriad irregularities that marred the period leading up to the Zimbabwe vote and the subsequent chaos that characterised balloting as some of the factors that brought the poll into “disrepute”.

The myriad of election irregularities have marred elections ever since Zimbabwe’s first post independence elections in 1980. Enough is enough!

This is a tedious argument, CCC is accept as the country’s main opposition in one breath when it suits the popularity narrative. When it comes to apportioning blame for participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy CCC is consider insignificant. Chamisa won 44% of the vote compared to the rest of the opposition candidates who garnered less than 4% in total. Why anyone would argue that the boycotting by one commanding 44% will have the same impact as one commanding 1% beggars belief.

Besides when participating will change nothing other than give legitimacy to Zanu PF the choice is plain. Chamisa and company have refused to boycott as a matter of principle because they have no such high moral values! CCC participated in these flawed elections out of geed and to pretend otherwise is laughable!

“CCC is neither South Africa, Namibia nor Tanzania. If you want to talk about legitimacy, go to those three countries and they will brief you on why they gave legitimacy to Dambudzo.”

Still, the origins of this mess can be traced back to MDC leaders’ failure to implement even one reform during the GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so. Are you going to blame SADC for that too?

MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one token democratic reform in 23 years and both the party leaders and their myopic followers will ever admit failure. Same with Zanu PF, after 43 years of corrupt and tyrannical misrule that has turned the country into a failed state and economic ruins they continue to blame everyone except themselves. No wonder the country is a failed state, we have buffoons in power and morons who are keeping them there!

Indeed MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform when they had the chance to do so during the GNU.

Why would Zanu PF do MDC/CCC a favour and implement the reforms when it is clear they do not have to!

The trouble with myopic CCC supporters is that you have your heads in leaders’ back sides you are now incapable of thinking for yourself. You cannot see even the most obvious thing!

“To the extent that those who shelter under ZanuPF duplicity make a windfall damn the moralizations, ZanuPF can be said to be very smart. The ends justify the means. This Machiavellian lesson requires mastery by those who seek power over others, without which you can’t even abolish the practice. That’s the thing about power. Settler colonial offspring don’t have misgivings about how their silver spoons were acquired. Chamisa needs matching ruthlessness. He had it going for him in the coalition until he figured he was ok alone. The hole knocked by fringe voters was equivalent to his reported loss to ED. If the results were fake then let’s see the correct ones.”

I totally agree with you, politics is not rocket science but it is not grade one a e i o u stuff either. Our people have opted to elect individual into leadership position and trust them to do the right thing with disastrous consequences.

There is no denying that MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic changes they had promised, implied in the party’s name, during the GNU. The people assumed Morgan Tsvangirai would implement the reforms.

It turned out that Tsvangirai and most of his MDC friend had no clue what the reforms were much less how they would be implemented. And since the people themselves were no wiser the MDC leaders sold out during the GNU and got away with it. The people continue to follow the sell outs as blindly as they did 23 years ago!

USA ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, said in a leaked cable back to Washington that Tsvangirai “was a flawed and indecisive character who would be an albatross round the nation’s neck if he ever got into power!” The ambassador could have said the same about all the MDC leaders. And boy oh boy! MDC/CCC have become milestone dragging the whole nation deeper and deeper into the crashing abyss.

Having an electorate that is so shallow, thick and slow, they hardly know their left hand from the right, the nation’s failure a certainty. To this wildebeest herd, even with the benefit of hindsight of his track record of failure and blundering incompetence Tsvangirai is regarded an “iconic leader” by the herd.

SADC Panel of Elders have been in Zimbabwe for the whole week, today 1 st September 2023, was their last day; for the express purpose of watering down SADC Election Observer Mission's damning 23 August 2023 election report. The Elders were being asked to move the criticism to the recommendations and pass the elections as substantially free and fair and thus grant Zanu PF regime legitimacy.

The very fact that the Panel of Elders have not said anything might be a sign they are refusing to be talked into doing something they know is wrong.

Mnangagwa is plan to hold the swearing in ceremony on Monday 4 September this could be history repeating itself; Mugabe defy SADC and AU condemnation of 2008 elections only to be forced into the 2008 to 2013 GNU!

The Zimbabwe economy was already is deep trouble by the start of the 1990s hence the need for the 1990 to 1995 then 1995 to 1999 ESAP programmes; long before the first sanctions imposed in 2001! Why ANC is insisting on blaming the West’s imposed sanctions for Zimbabwe’s failures instead of Zanu PF’s 43 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corrupt?
ANC is using the West’ refusal to lift the sanctions to justify why SADC must turning a blind eye to Zanu PF rigging the 2023 elections. Yeah. Exposing the flaws and illegalities should be a means to any end not the sole end and purpose. Participating in flawed elections time and time again particularly when doing so gives legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF is insane.

MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform even when it was within their power to do so. They have been participated in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they failed to implement even one reform in 23 years - greed and breathtaking incompetence.

MDC/CCC leaders have gotten away with this treasonous acts because povo has no clue what the reforms are much less how they should be implemented. They have no clue the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement reforms; even now with the benefit of hindsight they still have no clue. To hold Chamisa and company to account for selling out on reforms, one must know what the reforms are!

Indeed, CCC leaders have even conned the people to believe the nation does not need reforms to be implemented and free and fair elections because the opposition have devised winning in rigged election strategies. It is shocking that the people still believe this nonsense even after 43 years of Zanu PF mafiosi rigging elections. No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state!

@ W Nyamutsika

“My main argument against the legal/court process is that once you declare a process to be flawed and fraught with illegalities then going to court to fight about the results is foolhardy. If almost all the observer missions and the generality of citizens agree that this was a sham election, then what exactly do you hope to prove in court?

The CCC agree that the whole process was skewed in favour of the incumbent, so the fact remains that you cant get a legitimate result from a flawed process. Its like a maths question that requires you to provide workings for your answer. If all your workings are wrong, then your base or foundation is wrong. If you come up with the correct answer, then its either coincidental or pure guess work.”

You argument makes sense but what you must remember is CCC agreed to participate knowing fully well that the process was flawed and illegal. Of course they knew there was no verified voters’ roll, no free public media, intimidation was rampant, etc. Chamisa dismissed all these flaws and illegalities with contempt, CCC was going to win big regardless, because he had winning in rigged elections strategies.

Now that CCC has lost, once again, he is having to swallow his pride to admit he failed to plug the one hole that has allowed ZEC to declare the wrong result. He has to challenge the result on this one issue, the V11 and ZEC’s total. He did not challenged the 2018 elections of the process being flawed and illegal and he is not going to do so this time either!

CCC want the elections run afresh because ZEC declared the wrong presidential result otherwise everything else was fine. If the Constitutional court was to declare him the winner then the 23 August 2023 Zimbabwe elections were free, fair and credible, as far as he is concerned.

This explains why MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. And why they want the fresh elections held in 3 to 6 months; they do not see the need to implement any reforms other than to replace ZEC for declaring the wrong result!

Zimbabwe Light said...

So you chose to participate in a flawed and illegal election because you believed you had winning in rigged election strategies. Now it is clear your strategies were just hot air.

You are now claiming that you are going to end Mnangagwa’s rule, "you have drawn the line in the sand"! This is just another blast of hot air!

You were foolish to fail to implement even one token reform when you lot had the golden opportunity to do so during the GNU. You were equally foolish in insisting in participating in flawed election to give ZanuPF legitimacy out of greed.

The truth CCC will never implement any reforms and deliver free and fair elections. It is for the people themselves to now wake up to this political reality and put an end to to this madness! What will it take to open your eye and mind my fellow Zimbabweans!!!!!!!!

“M not CCC but Chamisa is best hope majority of voters had. Given the circumstances. I sympathised with CCC or any credible opposition & only CCC is credible to me.”

How can you judge their competence in a matter in which you have no clue, even now with the benefit of hindsight.

There are many reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state and top on that list is because we have some of the most shallow, thick and slow electorate in the world. Democracy demands an informed and diligent electorate and not a naive and gullible one.

Of course, “CCC is credible” to you! You hardly know your left hand from your right!

That is precisely why SADC sponsored the 2008 to 2013 GNU whose primary task was to implement the democratic reforms to ensure ZEC, Police, Army, Judiciary, etc are independent to carry out their set tasks to ensure free, fair and credible elections. MDC/CCC did not implement even one reform because they believed that they had winning in rigged elections strategies.

The real tragedy is we have people who fanatical loyalty to leaders is such they have made these fallible mortal demigods who know best and are divinely inspired. No mortal must ever question the leaders and they cannot accept that the leaders sold out even when presented with the evidence.

As I have said before, there are many very good reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state and top on that list is the fact that we have more than our fair share of myopic nincompoops who have their heads buried in the leaders’ backsides. You cannot make them see reason because their brain, starved of oxygen, has ossified into fat!

IN the aftermath of a disputed plebiscite, civil society organisations have demanded the intervention of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to create a Transitional Government in Zimbabwe. The country is gripped in anxiety after the announcement of the general election results which have become a subject of concern in the political arena.

Zanu PF candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa was declared a winner of the plebiscite garnering 52.6 percent to retain the presidency. This year’s election has been condemned by the opposition and civil society groups who argue it was flawed and skewed in favour of Mnangagwa.

In a petition to SADC and the African Union (AU), researchers Tony Reeler and Ibbo Mandaza called on regional bodies to front the establishment of a transitional government as a way forward from the political impasse the country is in.

“Once again a Zimbabwean election fails the test of credibility. However, the 2023 Harmonised Elections have failed the test so comprehensively that even the reputable regional and international observers are for once are in agreement that this election has failed. The main opposition and many civil society organisations have condemned the election, as have many ordinary citizens,” read the petition.

The AU and SADC have betrayed the people of Zimbabwe by turning a blind eye to Zanu PF’s blatant vote rigging in the past. This time their own election observers condemned the process as flawed and illegal, what excuse will they have for disregarding their own officials’ findings.

What Zimbabwe needs is another chance to implement the democratic reforms. SADC must be loathing the prospect of being the guarantor of another GNU and be yoked with the same Zanu PF and CCC thugs and idiots who failed to implement even one reform in the last GNU. It is not for SADC to find a way forward.

What we are asking of both SADC and AU is to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy and let the UN takeover from there. Forget the nonsense about African solution to African problems.

Zvobgo calling for imposition of sanctions on Rhodesia.

Those who participated in the rigged elections cannot say this with authority since they participated knowing the process is flawed and that doing so will give Zanu PF legitimacy. The insisted on participating out of greed and to hide their greed they claimed to have plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes!

Yes Mnangagwa is not clever but what about you? You were one of the 3 principals in the 2008 to 2013 GNU whose primary task was to implement democratic reforms and you failed to get even one token reform implemented in 5 years! Mutambara you talk too much and most of it is bulls***t!

Zimbabwe would be a totally different country right now if you and your MDC friends had not sold out big time during the GNU. So please spare us you bills**t!

This is just crap, Zanu PF has been rigging elections long before sanctions were imposed in 2001! The Gukurahundi was all about forcing PF Zapu to join Zanu PF and clear the way for the imposition of the de facto one party state. These elections are about restoring the people's right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country to deny that right under the pretext of lift the sanctions first is just a foolish argument!

This just rubbish! By participating in the flawed and illegal elections CCC gave the process credibility and the results political legitimacy. Complaining after the event that the elections were rigged does not change the reality on the ground - Zanu PF has political legitimacy.

Any court challenge of the election result will suspend ZEC’s announced result pending the said court’s decision on the matter. In 2018 the Constitutional Court ruled in favour of Mnangagwa and Chamisa’s refusal to accept the court’s decision did not change the facts on the ground.

In 2008 both AU and SADC refused to accept the elections results because of the blatant cheating and wanton violence. Mugabe ignored that and went ahead with the swearing in ceremony. Both AU and SADC ignored that because they had condemned the process as flawed and illegal and, per se, could not produce a legitimate government whatever ZEC or the courts said or do is irrelevant.

Both SADC and AU’s election observers have condemned these 2023 elections as flawed and illegal and, per se, cannot produce a legitimate government. What Zanu PF and/or CCC do or say will have no bearing on the reality on the ground - a flawed and illegal election process cannot result in a legitimate government.

To argue that CCC’s court challenge would have any bearing on SADC and AU’s decision on these elections is as foolish as claiming the Court challenge will have an effect on the sun rising tomorrow!

THe trouble in Zimbabwe is the lack of quality leaders, true but it only the half of it. The other half is the naive and gullible electorate. We need to educate the people if we are ever to get quality leaders!

However, Maimane pointed out that by attending, Ramaphosa would be subverting the stance taken by the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) on the Zimbabwe elections.

In a previous statement, SADC's Electoral Observer Mission denounced the harmonised elections in Zimbabwe, stating that they violated democratic processes and "fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections…"

Maimane said for this reason, Ramaphosa should not "undermine SADC and not extend the crisis in Zimbabwe, which is affecting South Africa," by attending, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

SADC cannot ignore Dr Mumba’s report, it cannot be business as usual.

Chamisa's candidates to take up their Parliament seats of a stolen election?

CCC have participated in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. And we have known this all along.

SADC's report confirming the elections were flawed and illegal has left a lot of egg on CCC's faces. But for this greed lot there is no sense of shame! None!

Will CCC give legitimacy the elections condemned by SADC and AU as flawed and illegal by taking their gravy train seats offered as bait!
